While many of us might agree with the statement that we suffer from a contentment crisis, we aren't as confident in what the remedy might be. In a special Thanksgiving message, we look at a broad overview of the biblical narrative and define Thanksgiving from a scriptural standpoint, uncovering a helpful practice to incorporate this holiday season.

Jesus is the good shepherd. Not just any shepherd but "the good" shepherd. The one and only true and good shepherd. You get it. He is good. If that is so and we truly believe He is good. Then why do we worry, fret, get anxious, fearful, the list could go on for a while. Many followers of Jesus believe that Jesus "can" but they don't truly believe that He "will". Remember Jesus has our best interest at heart so we don't have to. Meaning we can fully and completely trust that Jesus is going to take care of us. The 23rd Psalm is one of the most famous passages of scripture in the world. Probably one of the most quoted scriptures as well. But it more than a literary piece but it's truth. Gut level, in your face, truth. Pastor Allen breaks down this Psalm to make it more real and applicable to our everyday lives.
This Sunday in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus concludes his message with a masterful image that leaves his hearers "amazed", quickened to check their foundations, and motivated to build their lives on the only solid ground around. Embracing humility and service within our community can transform both our lives and the lives of others in our community. As we close out our teaching series of 1 Peter, we focus on the last ten verses and leave with some provocative questions to help us implement the truth shared by Peter.

Life can get hard sometimes. It's difficult, confusing, lonely, sad, you could just insert adjective here and that would suffice. However, we as followers of Jesus Christ look at like differently and approach it from a completely unique perspective. When we see life the way Jesus sees it then we have a reason to shout, a reason to sing, a reason to praise the Lord. Men's Pastor Ryan "Remo" Moreaux shares with us why we should praise the Lord in the midst of confusion and chaos.
Ever had an experience that at first jostled you but then left you with lasting joy? I've had several, but the one I'll be talking about this Sunday in my Week 13, "Flourishing Trees" series sermon, is from just last summer. That turbulent but triumphant experience is somewhat like the experience we get from this week's passage, Matthew 7:13-23 (read it now to get the turbulence over with). This Sunday will be a special one at "new Hillside", mainly because we'll be back in our beautiful worship home after several months of "camping" in the Community Center. Friends, the "flood" is over. Like Noah and his crew exiting the ark, we're back on dry land! Really hoping to see you for this new start. Remember, your presence alone advances our Hillside mission to 'Help everyone know and follow King Jesus." So please join your church family in person if you're healthy and not on a road trip! Is it possible that we live out of a superficial discipleship to Jesus? How would we be able to recognize it – what would the symptoms be? In today's message, we explore the antidote to superficial discipleship and explore three aspects of committed discipleship.
Satan is the master of disguise. He works best incognito, undercover, or behind a mask. He wants to steal, kill, and destroy without people knowing that he is doing it. We as Christians, followers of Jesus, must see him for who he really is so we can then expose him and his evil works for who and what they really are. In order for us to get to that place we have to have a relationship with Jesus that opens our eyes of understanding both mentally and spiritually. We are no match for Satan but Jesus is. As a matter of fact Jesus has already defeated Him and we now have power over Satan and his minion through our relationship with the Father through Jesus. We can live lives of victory and overcoming because of what Jesus has already done.
Next in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus directs us to seek good gifts from God our Father. What good gifts does he have for you to receive, find, or step into? Come find out this Sunday.
