The world is going crazy, many might think and believe. However, the world has been going crazy for a long time. But what's coming in the near future is way beyond our thinking and understanding. That is why it is paramount that we have the wisdom of God to live our lives with power and strength that only comes from Him. The wisdom of this world has produced a world in which we are finding it harder and harder everyday to function and live in. Wars, moral decay, the onslaught of AI, and much more. The disciple James tells us how to live in this world and if we call on God in faith He will give us the wisdom to not just survive in this world but to thrive in it.
During this message, we looked the story of Elijah on Mount Carmel in 1 Kings chapter 18. Ahab's confrontation was caused by... giving up on God's direction and limping along between two options. This weekend, Pastor Steve Huffman guided us through these two important points as we began our new series Holy Tension. This week be encouraged to anchor yourself to God's word. Full Service
Hello Hillside Family! I (Dan) am expecting this Sunday morning's worship gathering to be one of more than normal spiritual electricity and I invite you to be there. Consider these “ingredients”: (1) Our whole church family will be together–just one 10:00 AM service on the hill this Sunday; (2) Vacation season is complete so many world travelers will be back; (3) Josh Lund will be on stage with guitar after a week away; (4) Our high school and middle school students will be in the room with us; (5) We're celebrating Communion; (6) We're kicking off a new message series that Peter Turi and I have been thinking about and working on for many months–title to be revealed in the message; and (7) We have an all-church lunch right after the service–Michele is cooking as I write this. My three hopes: (1) You'll come in person to make the singing louder and to help receive visitors; (2) Some of you hiker-types will park offsite to save spots for others; and (3) you'll squeeze in once you enter the sanctuary so everyone gets a seat. God is at work at Hillside! Come Sunday to see how!Come worship with Hillside Covenant Church LIVE at 10:00 AM both online and in person as Dan Seitz teaches from Galatians 3:9.This week's sermon notes are available at: https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZY0iD5ZEGcF9TReMpRqN2rp1RWgGXjpQJByIf you are new to Hillside and are looking for ways to get connected and build community, visit our website: https://www.hillsidecovenant.org/ We welcome you to Hillside and are so glad you joined us today! To give in support of Hillside Covenant and its ministries follow this link: https://hillsidecovenant.churchcenter.com/givingThe full service from Hillside Covenant Church, Sunday, September 7, 2025.

Faith is not just a noun or just a verb. They are both. You may ask how can they be both? You see you can't have faith without works but works are a result of your faith. Faith in Jesus, not your works. Works done for your glory or the glory of man will only lead to religious piety. Works as a result of our faith in Jesus because we love Him and people, will have reward but the reward is inconsequential. We do because of who we belong to. We do because it is who we are. We don't find our identity in what we do but because of who we are and who He is in us we, do. We work. We believe. We have faith and we do faith!

In Matthew 9:9–13, Jesus calls Matthew, a tax collector nobody wanted, and gives him a new identity as a disciple who helps change the world. In Matthew's story, we see how Jesus calls each of us: first to Himself, into a real relationship with God. Then into groups where we grow alongside other disciples. And into teams where we join God's world-changing mission. No matter your past or how disqualified you feel, Jesus is still calling you to belong, to grow, and to go.Come worship with Hillside Covenant Church LIVE at 10:00 AM both online and in person as Wayne Phillips teaches from Matthew 9:9-13.This week's sermon notes are available at: https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=XZjv4D5ZyAjey9c5FXj3SbJwHVDkX4Xy41VVIf you are new to Hillside and are looking for ways to get connected and build community, visit our website: https://www.hillsidecovenant.org/ We welcome you to Hillside and are so glad you joined us today! To give in support of Hillside Covenant and its ministries follow this link: https://hillsidecovenant.churchcenter.com/givingThe full service from Hillside Covenant Church, Sunday, August 31, 2025.

The world has gone mad, crazy, and is out of control many say. But what does God say about the crazy mixed up world? In the midst of the storms of life He is there to comfort us. To calm us in the middle of the storm, not to necessarily calm the storm. The Apostle Paul dealt with a time at the church in Corinth where they needed comforting and who did God use? A person. An imperfect person. A person with flaws, but a person who sought after God and in so doing was able to bring comfort to the church at Corinth. Who was that person, Titus. As God comforts us we must comfort others. You can give away what you don't have. Position yourself in a way where God's comfort and overwhelm you instead of life doing it.

Hello Hillside! You are warmly invited to church this Sunday morning to praise God, re-bond with your fellow disciples, and hear some “mission thoughts as we move ahead,” which is precisely the focus of the messages we are excited to share with you. I (Dan) remind you that church will be happening in two places: our main campus at 2060 Magnolia Way, and Civic Park in downtown Walnut Creek. So, pick a service and join your church family on Sunday morning to hear from King Jesus and be rejuvenated for the week ahead. Whichever service you attend, please be ready to notice and welcome newbies (we're getting them every week). Looking forward to seeing you!Come worship with Hillside Covenant Church LIVE at 10:00 AM both online and in person as Dan Seitz teaches from Matthew 28:18-20 & Ephesians 4:11-13.If you are new to Hillside and are looking for ways to get connected and build community, visit our website: https://www.hillsidecovenant.org/ We welcome you to Hillside and are so glad you joined us today! To give in support of Hillside Covenant and its ministries follow this link: https://hillsidecovenant.churchcenter.com/givingThe full service from Hillside Covenant Church, Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Miracles are remarkable. Why, because they don't happen all the time and they go against normal, everyday life happenings. They also go beyond the natural. They are supernatural happenings that can only be contributed to a supernatural being, God. Encounters with God should always be supernatural and remarkable. We however get "used" to the awesome presence of God and lose or fear, awe, and wonder of Him. Listen as Pastor Jacob Hickman share how one remarkable miracle changed peoples lives.

Success and Significance are not the same. Can you have one without the other? Yes, but which one? There have been many men and women over the centuries that have been extremely successful monetarily but their impact on the world was shallow. Their lives were insignificant because they used up all their influence, power, relationships, and money on themselves. It only benefited them or those closest to them. Jesus' life and the words He spoke changed the world. His glory, majesty, wisdom, and love was divine to say the least but He lived in such a way that all the divine attributes and more impacted the world around Him and in the hundreds and thousands of years later. He lived a life of significance and in the process was successful. He literally changed the world and how we view time. Now that is significant. Your choice, which one will it be?
