This podcast will be exploring the traumatic events that can occur to anyone, many people develop a coping mechanism know as a “shadow life”… it’s a way to socially acclimate oneself with colleagues, friends and co-workers… if your past has traumatic events that when shared make others look at you in a different light, that cast a shadow on you… you may start to deny that part of who you are… push it down… and turn your back on it… … In this podcast we’re going to begin by exploring the life of a young American family in 1969…. During the turbulence of race riots that swept the country, trying to heal the racial inequality that has griped the south in a stranglehold… we follow a minister and his family who’s risked everything to integrate his church… only to discover the small southern town was a powder keg ready to explode….this fictional family is based on a true story that begins with racial integration but develops into something else entirely… its about a father… Rev. Rob, a evangelical minister… struggling trying to raise two kids on his own… juggling his day job … working on his doctorate dissertation… with his own homosexuality… and the mother, Mora… a diagnosed schizophrenic… as the world around her starts to unravel…she’d do anything… to deafen the voices… abusing pills and alcohol… in order to achieve some semblance of normality… we’re going to zoom in and focus on the preacher’s son, a young boy, Roman … doing his best to cope with the absence of his mother… in and out of mental institutions throughout his formative years … and Roman’s older sister, a genius of her own right, a child prodigy, securing first chair in the city orchestra at the age of sixteen… she seemed to soar above her family life… unaffected.We’ll discuss the coping skills that Roman developed as his shadow life grew larger when he started school… as the traumas and the years began to stack up… eventually we find Roman… behind bars in a 6 x 8 foot cage… in a super max prison… his shadow life on the verge of killing him… constantly trying to sabotage his life, his career, his family.
Roman has to decide if he's going to clique up in prison or try to go it alone... The Brand wants him to cut his friendship with his old friend Jiggs because he's not white, and the Warrior Monks wants him because he's a skilled martial artist they want to use.
