Opening Song: Daughters of Zion (https://open.spotify.com/track/1cOGwFxxHG1xtkKN8Eet5I?si=cff79a20b41741cb) by Erin Rose, Isaac Wardell, and Paul Zach Lyrics: When will the truth come out When will Your justice roll down When will Your kingdom come and evil be undone When will the wicked kneel And the abused be healed When will our sisters speak With no more shame or fear (So) How long how long When will the daughters of Zion rejoice In the house of the Lord Out of the miry clay we will rise up someday Sorrow won't always last the dark will surely pass Woe to the wicked ones For what their hands have done God is our righteous judge And He will raise us up (So) let Your justice roll down (Let Your justice roll down) Let Your justice roll down (Let Your justice roll down) Passage: 9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. 10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall speak peace to the nations; his rule shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. 11 As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit. 12 Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double. (Zechariah 9:9–12 ESV) Musical Reflection: Prelude in C Major, BWV 846 by J.S. Bach Reflection Notes: Bach's well-known prelude spins out a series of modulations, almost imperceptible at first. The new harmonies continually unfold in a way that intrigues but never shocks. Prayer: Father, what we know not, teach us; what we have not, give us; what we are not, make us; for the sake of your Son our Savior. Amen. -Old Anglican Prayer

This week on the podcast we have Quentin Johnson, and Erin Rose. Right out the gate there is a debate about getting a contact high and Quentin makes a bold prediction that ends up coming true live on the podcast. This episode starts with Quentin giving us a small walk through of how he started comedy and his travels across the US, performing and exploring. He also explains his relationship with "Dark Comedy" and answers a few questions specifically about his on-stage material, and off-stage interactions. Evan compliments Erin on her educational background and she goes through her introduction into the comedy scene. The question of favorite conspiracy question leads to an amazing moment on the podcast, the realization that Idaho isn't real. We call a local that claims to be from Idaho, and we don't get any straight answers. After "This Day in History", we play a game of "Urban Dictionary Closest Guess", and then begin voicemails. Thats when the great beer flood as predicted by Quentin, takes the podcast to a halt for a brief moment. We comeback from the disaster and finish off our record number of voicemails. **Quick Note to our Listeners! Nicole is off for the next few weeks, so while she enjoys some much-needed time off, we hope you enjoy hearing from some of Nicole's friends in our latest series, “Questions Jesus Asked.” Have you ever felt Jesus speak to you? Maybe you had a sudden urge that God wanted you to do or say something? There are going to be times in our lives when we are confronted with this, and it may not make any sense to us. So how do we learn to stay, listen, and wait for Jesus to reveal himself in these times? In this new series, we will be diving deep into questions Jesus asks throughout The Bible and what they mean for us today. In today's episode guest host, Erin Rose, is back with us breaking down the question, “You don't want to leave too, do you?” As a reminder, here are the three questions we ask each show: 1. What does the passage say? 2. What's the backstory, what's the context? 3. What does it mean? What are the principles of this passage? Today's Scripture: John 6:60-70 60 On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?” 61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! 63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit[a] and life. 64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. 65 He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.” 66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. 67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Then Jesus replied, “Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!” *** Erin Rose is a real estate agent in Richmond, VA, who also serves as a pastor and worship leader. **Quick Note to our Listeners! Nicole is off for the next few weeks, so while she enjoys some much-needed time off, we hope you enjoy hearing from some of Nicole's friends in our latest series, “Questions Jesus Asked.” This week, Erin Rose hops on the podcast to share her investigation into one of the most fascinating stories in the gospels – when Jesus calms the storm. **** Fear and anxiety are real things we deal with every day. Even though we know Jesus is with us, we still tend to be afraid. In this new series, we will be diving deep into questions Jesus asks throughout The Bible and what they mean for us today. In today's episode guest host, Erin Rose, will be breaking down the first question “Why are you afraid?” In Mark 4:35-41, the disciples find themselves in a windstorm amongst the sea. As fear grows amongst them, Jesus rebukes the wind, and says the sea, “peace be still.” The disciples are amazed as God's power and reign go beyond what they can see or even imagine. As a reminder, here are the three questions we ask each show: 1. What does the passage say? 2. What's the backstory, what's the context? 3. What does it mean? What are the principles of this passage? Today's Scripture: Mark 4:35-41 35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” *** Erin Rose is a real estate agent in Richmond, VA, who also serves as a pastor and worship leader. After a wonderful testimony by Kyle Jones and John Ha, our teaching and worship pastor, Erin Rose, gives the last sermon in this series, using the Luke 24 story of the road to Emmaus. Luke 24: 13-32 (NIV)Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him.He asked them, “What are you discussing together as you walk along?”They stood still, their faces downcast. One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, “Are you the only one visiting Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?”“What things?” he asked.“About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him; but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place. In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning but didn’t find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive. Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but they did not see Jesus.”He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself. As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them. When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

Before he can decide whether to stay or go, Todd’s evil twin from a parallel universe arrives to take his place, and Todd must face the prospect of a world without Lucy.  With the reluctant help of Lucy’s brother, Dave (Sean Carmichael), Lucy and Todd must confront the barriers to their relationship, their perception of self, and the laws of the universe itself to distinguish the wrong Todd from the right one. The Wrong Todd is a new take on a sci-fi-fi comedy drama with the added bonus of an evil twin from a parallel universe. The Wrong Todd is about championing love, accepting change, and realizing what you’ve taken for granted before it truly is too late.  Inspired by the works of Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and Harold Ramis (Groundhog Day) The Wrong Todd answer the question so many people think but never articulate “what is wrong with me?” Starring Jesse Rosen (The Art of Being Straight), Anna Rizzo (Lost in Bloom), Sean Carmichael (Trinity), Derek K. Our worship and teaching pastor, Erin Rose, brings us part 2 of a new series on misunderstood scriptures. Matthew 7:1-5 (ESV) “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.” John 13:34-35  “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Galatians 6:1-2  Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. Ephesians 5:18-20  And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Erin Rose and Doug Paul lead us in our desire to follow the Lord completely. John 17:6-26 (ESV)“I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

Our worship and teaching Pastor, Erin Rose, teaches on the opening story of Naomi's life in the book of Ruth. She starts by leading us in worship, and the recording ends with the EEF response at the Lord's table and closing songs. The video can be seen at https://youtu.be/ZJnPtC7OEjURuth 1: 1-5 (NIV)In the days when the judges ruled, there was a famine in the land. So a man from Bethlehem in Judah, together with his wife and two sons, went to live for a while in the country of Moab. The man’s name was Elimelek, his wife’s name was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to Moab and lived there. Now Elimelek, Naomi’s husband, died, and she was left with her two sons. They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they had lived there about ten years, both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband.

Our worship leader and teaching pastor, Erin Rose, brings EEF to repentance before the Lord.Ephesians 5 English Standard Version (ESV)Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partners with them; for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,“Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Erin Rose, our Worship and Teaching Pastor, starts our 5 part series: Walk This Way. 2 Corinthians 5:6-10(ESV)So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

New Orleans has always held an appeal to the Irish due to its Catholic traditions and safe harbor for anti-British sentiments. An early wave of Irish immigrants, fleeing British persecution at the end of the 1700s, landed in New Orleans and became well woven into the economic and social fabric of the city. Irish pubs dot the Crescent City's French Quarter from the beatiful courtyards of Pat O'Brien's Bar or the divey feel of Fahy's or the Erin Rose. Ireland's influence is felt in neighborhoods such as the Irish Channel, St. Patrick's Church and the tradition of Shrove Tuesday or Mardi Gras. With Fat Tuesday upon us, Windy City Irish Radio celebrates the decadent season with music from Professor Longhair, Judy Collins, Beth Patterson, Harry Connick Jr, Na Fianna, Tom McDermott & lucia micarelli, The Lash, Anthony Thistlethwaite, Scythian, Kevin Burke in Chicago, Joe McShane and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band for the Irish Mardi Gras! Our Worship and Teaching Pastor, Erin Rose, brought a message of Hope as we begin the Sundays in Advent. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? (Romans 7:18-19, NLT)Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. 19 For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really areAgainst its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, 21 the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.24 We were given this hope when we were saved.(If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.).Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died— more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

EEF experienced a very moving service on the Sunday following the Charlottesville VA events of this weekend. Makeda McCreary called us to worship; Erin Rose, one of our teaching pastors, pours out her heart in response to that time as well as giving us the hope in Jesus instead of the despair that comes without Him. The sermon was followed by a stirring community prayer time for direction and boldness to testify to the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The videos for the service can be found on the EEF YouTube PagePsalm 27 (NKJV)The Lord is my light and my salvation;Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life;Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against meTo eat up my flesh,My enemies and foes,They stumbled and fell.Though an army may encamp against me,My heart shall not fear;Though war may rise against me,In this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord,That will I seek:That I may dwell in the house of the LordAll the days of my life,To behold the beauty of the Lord,And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of troubleHe shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacleHe shall hide me;He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me;Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle;I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.When You said, “Seek My face,”My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”Do not hide Your face from me;Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help;Do not leave me nor forsake me,O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me,Then the Lord will take care of me.Teach me Your way, O Lord,And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me,And such as breathe out violence.I would have lost heart, unless I had believedThat I would see the goodness of the LordIn the land of the living.Wait on the Lord;Be of good courage,And He shall strengthen your heart;Wait, I say, on the Lord!Andy & Rachel Graham - Spirit Pour OutSpirit pour out and flood this cityHeaven come down and shake the wallsFill us Lord the world is waitingFather let your kingdom comeCome restore generations of desolationBind up the poor and broken heartPlant and sow, till and grow what time has ravagedBreak down the walls of race and warSpirit pour out and flood this cityHeaven come down and shake the wallsFill us Lord the world is waitingFather let your kingdom comeGod we seek the peace and welfare of our cityProsper redeem her as your ownThat all would see your glory here in greater measureThrough us your church your kingdom comeYou are the God buildsYou are the one who savesYou are the God who prospersEvil has no claimYou are the God buildsYou are the one who savesYou are the God who prospersFervently we prayEphesians 6: 10-17 (NIV)Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
