The last podcast I posted was to inform you that I was taking a month's vacation. During that time I detoxed from the news. Last week as I was looking up what happened while on vacation, WTF happened. the fraud in the White House took what was already the worst administration in US history and managed to FUBAR it even more. In that month, Biden managed to surrender Afghanistan to the Taliban, provided them with billions in military equipment and weapons, and even deliberately left US citizens as hostages for the Taliban. This is what happens when the person in the White House is weak and has no respect for life. Not even American lives as he would proudly have cheered if everyone he left behind was killed in the womb. If that wasn't bad enough, to distract for the disaster that is Afghanistan, Biden goes full tyrant shredding the Constitution. After a year of publically acknowledging that he has no authority to issue a vaccine mandate, he attempts to do it anyways. Biden is demanding that you inject yourself with an experimental "vaccine" that's been out on the market less than a year with unknown long-term side-effects or the Government will make it too expensive for businesses to keep you employed or hire you. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thejacobjohnstonshow/message

Reunited and it feels so good! After a couple of weeks off, we're back!!! And this week we have a movie that is decidedly not "Cats" but more on that later. This week it's the Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell comedy, "Tango & Cash." The low down: Two cops, each with their own unique approach to law enforcement, must clear their names after an obsessive and long-winded kingpin, who has had it with their meddling, sets them up for murder. Y'all, we've said it before but this movie truly has it all. Don't believe us, read further my friend. Besides getting to see Stallone and Russell Buns, there's a rat fondling villian (who may or may not have raided Snowy's ring drawer), henchmen that don't want to be there, one of the worst Cockney accents in film, monster trucks, boot guns, the Doctor is grossed out by flavor savers, the return of the biggest chin in Hollywood, quips a plenty and a Terri Hatcher drum solo! The Ladies of RFT discuss which Jack Palance film they could have been in, it's Burt not Bruce Reynolds, we learn about a little known Star Wars connection, can't get enough of these massive 80's explosions, ogle Kurt Russell in drag, talk mirror mazes for the home and just to make The Doctor uncomfortable Snowy is gonna work a high-five followed by a finger clutch into their friendship. We're getting FUBAR, so join us for all this and so much more on this week's Reel Fun Times!
Denver's Chief of Police says recent prisoner release has contributed to rise in crime. The entire situation in Afghanistan is "FUBAR." Steffan takes calls. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Where did it all go wrong? That is the subject of this week's podcast. I'm not talking about Afghanistan. The Afghan exit debacle in this case is a symptom, not the problem. (If you want to know what went wrong there, go back and listen to last's week's podcast where I talk about how and when the situation in Afghanistan went FUBAR.) I'm talking about where, and more precisely-- When did this whole march towards the leftist dystopia we have today get set into motion? The short answer is 1913 when Woodrow Wilson was inaugurated president of the United States. The how and why are more difficult to answer. 1913 is when among other things, the federal income tax was initiated, among a host of other progressive measures that have been building upon one another until this day. 1913 is the year when American statism became a thing. The Independent Institute (not affiliated with this podcast) put a pretty good article on the subject entitled: 1913: The Final Days of the Old Regime in the United States Now in 2021, where are starting to see the disastrous results of the statist/leftist program. Statism, by its very nature, brings about authoritarianism. No collectivist form of government, be it socialism, fascism, or communism can exist without an authoritarian government. Under COVID, formerly free countries like Australia and New Zealand have thrown off any tendencies on the part of their governments towards liberalism and have chosen, mainly out of fear, to take the authoritarian route. The idea of "democratic tyranny" seems like an oxymoron, yet here we are. Leftists Democrats in the US are trying to install this collectivist, authoritarian state here. (BTW, If you happen to live in Australia or New Zealand, your voice is needed. Please contact this podcast and leave a voice message, or email me at: JPMac@LibertyRelearned.com I'd love to hear from you if only to hear your horror stories of COVID tyranny.) --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jp-mac/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jp-mac/support

World War 2 is often doted upon by armchair historians as ‘the last good war'. Even if there's really nothing good about the outcome, there are things that happen that serve as brief light spots in an otherwise dark conflict. The story of how one squad of ordinary people managed to save Private Ryan is one such instance when the powers that be saw trouble ahead and sought to avoid an even worse outcome for one person and his family. Was it worth risking 8 men's lives for just one guy? Who's to say. A byword for tenacity and courage, the famous last stand has studded history with legendary exploits that define conflict and empire. From Thermopylae to the Alamo, from Custer’s last stand to Okinawa, they represent individual heroism and sometimes crass military miscalculation. The result is always the same, the wiping out of a small group of die-hard defenders. The odds might be crazy, and catastrophe might ensue, yet as the explosion at the British Army magazine near Delhi in 1857 proved, the consequences can reverberate down the years. So, whether its FUBAR or SNAFU, or just desperate men fighting like ‘rats in a sack’ to quote a senior British Officer after Rorke’s Drift, we remember many of them. And whether for PR purposes or to deflect attention from wider disasters, they do not diminish the bravery of those involved. So it GoesTom Assheton & James Jackson Ref.Thomas Babington Macaulay, Horatius, Lays of Ancient Rome See also:YouTube: BloodyViolentHistoryhttps://www.instagram.com/bloodyviolenthistory/https://www.jamesjacksonbooks.comhttps://www.tomtom.co.uk If you enjoy the podcast, would you please leave a short review on Apple Podcasts/iTunes, Spotify or Google Podcast App? John Dickerson is a correspondent for 60 Minutes, a political analyst for CBS News, a contributing writer for The Atlantic, and one of the three hosts of Slate's Political Gabfest podcast, which incredibly has been going for 15 years. He was previously the host of "Face the Nation" and a co-host on "CBS This Morning."John's most recent book "The Hardest Job In the World: The American Presidency," looks at the history of and expectations for the office, and says America’s process for picking presidents is badly broken.“We encourage impulsive, winner-take-all displays of momentary flash to win a job that requires restraint, deliberation, and cooperation,” he wrote. And Americans have gone too far in seeking always to send an outsider to Washington to disrupt the status quo. “Our presidential candidates go through no apprenticeship process to test whether they have governing qualities ... We’re not simply judging a book by its cover, we’re judging a bomb-defusing manual by its cover.”And so in this episode I ask John about why he thinks we should acknowledge that presidents do sometimes have to lie or mislead, and that we need to have intelligent criteria for analyzing whether someone is lying in a way that is constructive or destructive. We talk about how he thinks primaries should change, and how our political debates need to be completely overhauled. And we discuss Trump's attempts to overturn the election, and Mitch McConnell's long-delayed recognition of Joe Biden's election win. The weeks of saying nothing while Trump misled millions into believing the election was stolen has done what John calls "serious damage" to democracy. We end with a few thoughts on Advent.Thank you for listening to this show. I hope you have rest and peace over these holidays. My family and I celebrate Christmas, and I wish those of you who do as well as Merry Christmas. Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanzaa, andd Happy New Year.Outro song: "Summer's End" by John Prine Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/thelonggame. Sen. Tammy Duckworth may be on Biden’s VP shortlist. But when it comes to childcare during the pandemic, she’s just as confused as the rest of us. “So my choice is five hours of homeschooling every day for my daughter and failing her, because I'm not a trained educator, or sending her to a school where she could very likely get this virus or bring it home and get her two year old sister sick or my 79 year old mom, who lives with us,” Duckworth tells Molly Jong-Fast and Rick Wilson on the latest episode of The New Abnormal. “That's the problem: impossible choices.” Duckworth also opens up about just how hostile the Senate was to working moms until a hot second ago. One particularly ridiculous question stands out. “They want to know if you're gonna breastfeed on the floor. [And I said,] ‘I’m not exactly planning on whipping one out in front of them. But if the baby is hungry, I'll feed her.’” Then! Princeton’s Sam Wang talks about the out-of-the-way campaigns that could make a huge difference for decades to come. Plus! A Trump ambassador goes to a Nazi cemetary—and gets all wistful. A Republican candidate swears “celebrities and Democrats catch COVID and magically heal.” The Stephen Hawking of the U.S. House of Representatives displays his genius—at infecting everyone around him. Finally! Rick asks the big questions: Who’s more popular, Zombie Bin Laden or Ron DeSantis? Was Tulsa Trump’s Jonestown? And does Chuck Schumer realize that “he's got Mitch McConnell's balls in a bag for once?” Want more?
