In today's study we'll discuss the details of Jesus' trial before Pontius Pilate. Pilate will actually find no guilt in Jesus but will be pressured by the Jewish leaders and their accusations. And despite his repeated attempts to release Jesus, Pilate will ultimately succumb to the crowd's demand to crucify Him, declaring, “We have no king but Caesar.” Thanks for listening. God bless you! This session shares the Finance Committee meeting conducted Wednesday, October 22, 2025. The Committee opened with 3 new members getting sworn in. The Committee also formally organized itself with votes to select George Conley as Chair, Natalie Riley as Vice-Chair and Lauren Nagel as ClerkQuick recap:The agenda could not be completed in the time allotted before the Town Council meeting at 7:00 PM. The planned 'deep dive' on Technology was the major item as it will be rescheduled to their Nov 5 meeting.During Citizen Comments, M Minnechelli spoke on the economics of development proposals, i.e. 444 E Central, and the need for some body, perhaps FinCom to weigh in to help clarify the numbers that are being mentioned which are conflicting and perhaps erroneous. The Town Administrator advised not weighing in on the specifics of 444 East Central as the public hearing is underway. However an understanding of the overall economics of development would be a good topic for a future meetingMuch of the discussion revolved around the fiscal issues currently being faced not just by Franklin but by most communities in the State. The "perfect storm" report by the MMA was referenced. The work underway at the State level to take a new look at local contributions for Chap 70 could affect our "hold harmless" situation. The Federal cuts will affect Mass revenues, and some of that will also affect our State funding. The MMA "perfect storm" report -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/19iUBj6jDGQuWo8XDCfhwefqnK9WlALK1/view?usp=drive_link The Town Administrator memo of Aug 7 was refreshed as many appear to have not read it, or understood the implications -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UnddsW97syeHkkVjNOgRlOkKgHgOGiS0/view?usp=drive_link The recording runs just about 68 minutes, let's listen--------------Franklin TV broadcast is available for replay -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMhCNMRndj0 The agenda doc -> https://www.franklinma.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_10222025-1961 My notes in one PDF file -> https://drive.google.com/file/d/11PCj1OfVixPiPgZ8jrk5-HD7VjH3vuEu/view?usp=drive_link -------------We are now producing this in collaboration with Franklin.TV and Franklin Public Radio (wfpr.fm) or 102.9 on the Franklin area radio dial. In today's study we're going to talk more about Peter's denials as well as a pivotal conversation between Jesus and Pontius Pilate where Jesus confirmed His kingship but clarified that His kingdom was “not of this world.” Jesus will also explain He was born to “bear witness to the truth,” and everyone who is of the truth hears His voice. This passage sets up the irony of Pilate declaring Jesus as the “King of the Jews” on the cross, fulfilling the title despite his own cynicism about truth. Thanks for listening. God bless you! In this important episode, we sit down with HSLDA attorney Scott Woodruff to discuss homeschool freedom and the urgent need for civic engagement. We break down four proposed bills introduced in June 2025 that could significantly impact homeschooling families across the state:Senate Bill 1796 Would require every homeschool family to file a letter of intent with their public school superintendent—including the birth date and grade level of each child, without any privacy protections. Current Status: WithdrawnAssembly Bill 5796 / Senate Bill 4589 (Identical Bills) Mandates an annual “health and wellness check” for each homeschooled child, conducted by a school official such as a counselor, nurse, or social worker designated by the superintendent.Assembly Bill 5825 Requires families to annually submit a registration letter, including student details and curriculum information. Parents must also submit a portfolio and an annual evaluation of the student's academic progress—performed by an approved third-party evaluator (not the parent). With a New Jersey gubernatorial election coming up, now is the time to be informed, involved, and proactive. NJ, get out and vote on November 4th for the candidate who aligns with your values and priorities. Back to basics baby. We're doing a couple introductory episodes on Popper's philosophy of science, following Chapter 10 of Conjectures and Refutations. We start with Popper's theory of content: what makes a good scientific theory? Can we judge some theories as better than others before we even run any empirical tests? Should we be looking for theories with high probability? Ben and Vaden also return to their roots in another way, and get into a nice little fight about how content relates to Bayesianism. We discuss Vaden's skin care routine If you find your friend's lost watch and proceed to lose it, are you responsible for the watch? Empirical vs logical content Whether and how content can be measured and compared How content relates to probability Quotes My aim in this lecture is to stress the significance of one particular aspect of science—its need to grow, or, if you like, its need to progress. I do not have in mind here the practical or social significance of this need. What I wish to discuss is rather its intellectual significance. I assert that continued growth is essential to the rational and empirical character of scientific knowledge; that if science ceases to grow it must lose that character. It is the way of its growth which makes science rational and empirical; the way, that is, in which scientists discriminate between available theories and choose the better one or (in the absence of a satisfactory theory) the way they give reasons for rejecting all the available theories, thereby suggesting some of the conditions with which a satisfactory theory should comply. You will have noticed from this formulation that it is not the accumulation of observations which I have in mind when I speak of the growth of scientific knowledge, but the repeated overthrow of scien- tific theories and their replacement by better or more satisfactory ones. This, incidentally, is a procedure which might be found worthy of attention even by those who see the most important aspect of the growth of scientific knowledge in new experiments and in new observations. - C&R p. 291 Thus it is my first thesis that we can know of a theory, even before it has been tested, that if it passes certain tests it will be better than some other theory. My first thesis implies that we have a criterion of relative potential satisfactoriness, or of potential progressiveness, which can be applied to a theory even before we know whether or not it will turn out, by the passing of some crucial tests, to be satisfactory in fact. This criterion of relative potential satisfactoriness (which I formu- lated some time ago,2 and which, incidentally, allows us to grade the- ories according to their degree of relative potential satisfactoriness) is extremely simple and intuitive. It characterizes as preferable the theory which tells us more; that is to say, the theory which contains the greater amount of empirical information or content; which is logically stronger; which has the greater explanatory and predictive power; and which can therefore be more severely tested by comparing predicted facts with observations. In short, we prefer an interesting, daring, and highly informative theory to a trivial one. - C&R p.294 Let a be the statement ‘It will rain on Friday'; b the statement ‘It willbe fine on Saturday'; and ab the statement ‘It will rain on Friday and itwill be fine on Saturday': it is then obvious that the informative contentof this last statement, the conjunction ab, will exceed that of its com-ponent a and also that of its component b. And it will also be obviousthat the probability of ab (or, what is the same, the probability that abwill be true) will be smaller than that of either of its components. Writing Ct(a) for ‘the content of the statement a', and Ct(ab) for ‘thecontent of the conjunction a and b', we have (1) Ct(a) = Ct(b). This contrasts with the corresponding law of the calculus of probability, (2) p(a) >= p(ab)

Today's text details Jesus' arrest after Judas's betrayal, His initial questioning by Annas and the beginning of Peter's denials. This passage highlights Jesus's control over the situation, His divine authority in the garden where His words cause the arresting soldiers to fall back and His calm submission to His fate. It also sets the stage for his subsequent trial before the high priest Caiaphas. Thanks for listening. God bless you! To find out more about our church please go to www.whccnb.org.

Pastors Patrick Hines (Bridwell Heights Presbyterian Church in Kingsport, TN), Jim Thornton (Reformed Faith Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, TN) and Henry Johnson (Trinity Presbyterian Church in Tazwell, VA) discuss chapter 13 of the Westminster Confession of Faith "Of Sanctification." CHAP. XIII.—Of Sanctification. I. THEY, who are effectually called, and regenerated, having a new heart, and a new spirit created in them, are further sanctified, really and personally, through the virtue of Christ's death and resurrection (1 Cor. 6:11; Acts 20:32; Phil. 3:10; Rom. 6:5-6), by His Word and Spirit dwelling in them (John 17:17; Eph. 5:26; 2 Thess. 2:13): the dominion of the whole body of sin is destroyed (Rom. 6:6, 14), and the several lusts thereof are more and more weakened and mortified (Gal. 4:24; Rom. 8:13); and they more and more quickened and strengthened in all saving graces (Col. 1:11; Eph. 3:16-19), to the practice of true holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord (2 Cor. 7:1; Heb. 12:14). II. This sanctification is throughout, in the whole man (1 Thess. 5:23); yet imperfect in this life, there abiding still some remnants of corruption in every part (1 John 1:10; Rom. 7:18, 23; Phil. 3:12); whence ariseth a continual and irreconcilable war, the flesh lusting against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh (Gal. 5:17; 1 Peter 2:11). III. In which war, although the remaining corruption, for a time, may much prevail (Rom. 7:23); yet, through the continual supply of strength from the sanctifying Spirit of Christ, the regenerate part doth overcome (Rom. 6:14; 1 John 5:4; Eph. 4:15-16); and so, the saints grow in grace (2 Peter 3:18; 2 Cor. 3:18), perfecti

In this inspiring conversation, I sit down with Amber O'Neal Johnston—author, speaker, and founder of Heritage Mom—to explore what it means to create something uniquely your own. Amber offers her wisdom on embracing heritage, weaving family culture into everyday rhythms, and finding the courage to “create your own flavor” instead of simply following tradition or trends.Together, we unpack how heritage shapes identity, why representation matters in learning and storytelling, and practical ways families can cultivate spaces that celebrate authenticity, belonging, and joy. If you're longing to live more fully in your story, this episode will encourage you to embrace who you are—and share it boldly with the world.Ro's Resource Room is a series of informational podcasts designed to equip and encourage families on their homeschooling journeys. Discernment in this context entails proper understanding bearing fruit of conviction, reverence, humility, and obedience. We can relate to, and learn from, the risks and rewards of frequent communion Paul addresses in this letter. As in all of life, we must approach the communion table walking in the Spirit, not the flesh. While we recognize that familiarity & mere repetition often foster a casual irreverence, it remains true that the very things we must remember in order to repent of our callous hearts are pictured and proclaimed at THE LORD'S TABLE. A good prayer to prepare for communion might be… Lord, may my often-weary soul ever cherish and never despise the living water and bread of heaven which sustains me unto glory… As we noted in Old Covenant parallels proclaimed in Chap 10 of this epistle last week, communion is New Covenant provision for the believer in the wilderness of life…. Let us therefore nurture an acquired taste for all the means of grace that we might drink deeply and be satisfied with water from our Rock Jesus Christ.
