In 1968, Richard Nixon was elected as the first conservative President since 1932. It was said because of the white backlash and Southern strategy. Nixon's voters didn't think of themselves as claimed today... as a strategy, they proudly thought of themselves as Orthigonians. and they would not allow themselves to be the scapegoat to pay the prices of elites idea of civil rights. 

In 1968 MLK wrote "Chaos & Community" It was a call to this nation's better angles to find sympathy and empathy for each other. For white America to view rioting in Watts, CA as a cry of desperation, and not to use Watts to justify a backlash to the costs of the whole civil rights movement...This all happened right before his life was ended by assassination. 

1968 was a seminal year in America. It marked the end of the civil rights movement, race riots, the height of the Vietnam war, a presidential election, and cultural revolutions. The reverberations of 1968 shifted the political landscape to what we see today. Red vs Blue states, Conservatives vs Liberal. In this series we will explore the events of 1968 and the reverberations of that year in today's politics.    

(Part 7 of 7) We will be closing out the prisms of Vietnam with a review of the lies and the damage of those lies. What are lessons should we take from Vietnam? and how did the sides we took on Vietnam shape America today

As I sit at home and watch/read more journalism, I find myself frustrated by the preconceived politics masked as journalism. Using COVID to promote filtered pollical views. I will break down a few of these stories as wee; as talk about the other COVID issue, economics.  stay safe, stay health

(Part 4 of 8) The choice for European populations between the Americans and the Russians was far harder in that time then we remember today. The lure of the Soviet argument was strong, until Stalin make a few mistakes and George Marshal outmaneuvered the Russian diplomats, for the first time in the western world, the USSR was reviled as a nationalist bully instead of an WW2 ally.

China was the example of strategic discussion making and our failure to learn the lessons from China would lead to American mistakes later in the Cold War and even today.
