An interview with Mary Ann Schmedlen, Math Consultant and Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) Trainer with Eaton RESA. YMHFA is a 6.5-hour training that gives adults who work with youth the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to children and adolescents (ages 6-18) who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care. Participants will complete a 2-hour self-paced online portion ahead of time and then participate in a 4.5-hour instructor-led Zoom session. Virtual trainings are currently FREE and now available on December 3 and January 12. MYOI was created to improve outcomes for youths transitioning from foster care to adulthood. It brings together community members, public and private agencies, and resources that are critical to enhancing the success of young adults who are transitioning from the foster care system.
