John Metcalfe's new holiday album, Carols Without Words. Metcalfe composed ten stunning new orchestral arrangements of holiday classics, incorporating his signature blend of instrumental melodies and ambient electronica, and recorded them at Abbey Road Studios in September 2022. The selected carols include classics such as Silent Night, Coventry Carol, It Came Upon A Midnight Clear, and more, closing with an upbeat version of the 16th-century carol Gaudete, featuring a virtuosic violin solo played by Britten Sinfonia leader Thomas Gould.Purchase the music (without talk) at:Carols Without Words (classicalmusicdiscoveries.store)Your purchase helps to support our show! Classical Music Discoveries is sponsored by La Musica International Chamber Music Festival and Uber. @CMDHedgecock#ClassicalMusicDiscoveries #KeepClassicalMusicAlive#LaMusicaFestival #CMDGrandOperaCompanyofVenice #CMDParisPhilharmonicinOrléans#CMDGermanOperaCompanyofBerlin#CMDGrandOperaCompanyofBarcelonaSpain#ClassicalMusicLivesOn#Uber Please consider supporting our show, thank you!Donate (classicalmusicdiscoveries.store) staff@classicalmusicdiscoveries.com This album is broadcasted with the permission of Katy Salomon representing Primo Artists.

This is a podcast on M&A Stories regarding Serial Acquisitions and New-Age Acquisitions with Nitin Kumar Show Notes: On the perspective of serial acquirer vs occasional acquirer, in the past there were three types of acquirers: Occasional, Frequent and Serial Acquirer. Since then the world of M&A has changed quite a lot. Companies that were known as serial acquirers, who had created processes around it and created playbooks, no longer can say that they are a continuous serial acquirer. Due to the massive expansion on types of acquisition i.e. consolidation, adjacencies, acquihire, carve-out integration and new business models, the traditional definition of serial acquirers no longer holds good. New trend is emerging where companies want to integrate new operating models or get acquihires to boost their strategy realization faster than the timeline pursued in conventional integrations. It is not just the size of an acquisition but also the complexity of an acquisition that drives the length of time for integration. Now there are companies that have started parallel acquisitions alongside their serial acquisitions. Integrations have radically evolved since the last decade and definitely from the last century. Integrations can be functional or structural. Functional integrations is all about functions integrating with each other but in the era of disruptions that we are living in, structural integrations are at play here in many cases. Structural integrations may be cross-functional like revenue synergies where sales, marketing, product management, pricing teams need to be involved or it may include digital transformation that rationalizes many roles and functions. Synergies in the classic way may not be enough in today's integration. Companies need to factor in Lindy Effect, Metcalfe's Law, Networks that can drive exponential synergies there. These synergies do not necessarily come out of the functions or the back office. How should IMO be configured? Should it be drive-and-deliver, advise-and-support posture, lead-and-influence, is it augment-and-report with business units doing drive-and-deliver work? Driving value these days is not just cost synergies and revenue synergies but also includes reciprocal synergies where both parties bring something to the table and create value. There are sequential synergies i.e. if a certain sequence of steps are undertaken, it can lead to creation of new viable steps that result in value creation. There are beta synergies that isolate value drivers and synergies that directly impact stock prices. Listen to the episode to know more. That may seem completely impossible, completely ridiculous, outlandish, compared to where we are right now, but anyway, let's go more into what's happening. Julian Metcalfe is the founder of Pret A Manger and Itsu, and since he's been a young man has been on a mission to change the way we think about eating out and how we eat. His companies are together worth over $3 billion. But he's also been on a mission to prove something to himself after the suicide of his mother and a life threatening car crash when he was still young uprooted his life as he knew it. Like all founders, he chose the long road back to being secure in himself Julian spews with original thoughts on how to really take a company from zero to $1 billion+, from hiring and firing to knowing when to take the leap to expand your brand. Business is a game of thousands of little decisions, a few really big ones, and a hawks eye for knowing when to pounce. Few people we've encountered on the podcast had such a good gut instinct as Julian, nor were so good at articulating exactly how they did it. While most news publishing outlets are downsizing, the Hearst Connecticut Media Group (HCMG) continues to grow its operations with a recent expansion statewide and in Greater Hartford, the backyard of the now hedge fund-owned Harford Courant. In March 2022, HCMG announced hiring 13 new staff members, including 11 journalists who will focus their reporting on statewide topics, and local news and enterprise in the state capital area. They will publish that content online within the one-year-old CTInsider.com website and eight daily newspapers and community weekly publications. As E&P reported one year ago, CTInsider.com began a major expansion for HCMG to become a statewide news powerhouse. Today it seems that they are well on their way to achieving their goal of having 100,000+ paid print and digital subscribers across their entire network. Furthermore, HCMG has also seen consecutive monthly growth in digital subscriptions since early 2019.  In this 143rd episode of "E&P Reports," we revisit with Mike DeLuca, Group Publisher and President of Hearst Connecticut (HCMG), and Wendy Metcalfe, the Senior Vice President of Content & Editor-in-Chief, about the strategies and formulas they are deploying to become what is now is arguably the most successful local news operation in the nation in achieving reader growth.

This episode is a deep dive into the power of growing networks. Alexander and Jason begin by discussing Metcalfe's Law, which refers to how the value of a network grows as each user joins. Over time, the users and their data become a powerful asset. Metcalfe's Law and Web 4.0 We had serious problems with definitions and data collection in Web 3.0. This made it difficult for us to understand the full extent of our technologies. We did not have the best opportunities to interact with data. In TARTLE, the network is composed of millions of people that come on the system and function as an individual node. Each person willingly provides their data, which is essentially a definition of their worldview. After this, it is processed by AI.  There's a reciprocity and sense of balance that did not exist in the traditional system. We're no longer talking about just sharing information from one computer to another. This is a chance for human beings to be the nodes themselves. It's an important development for two reasons. First, the network becomes more robust as each person joins TARTLE. This means that the value, definition, and sovereignty you have over your information becomes stronger. Second, the protection of your digital rights increases as well. Closing Thoughts Before TARTLE, we basically went on the internet and allowed big tech to put us in digital indentured servitude. The reality is that every time you go online, other people are using everything about you—your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, location—and for their own profit. Now, TARTLE gives people an opportunity to build a strong network of direct communication, data privacy, and personal autonomy. This isn't just another way to make money. When you sign up on the platform, you are supporting yourself and upholding others as well. Take our first step and sign up here.

NOTES: ●      The last time Dr. Glenn Vo had a chance to talk to Dr. Jessica Metcalfe, she was surrounded by people after winning the Dentistry's Got Talent competition. Naturally, then, many of you might recognize her as a dental celebrity. ●      Jessica is passionate about burnout, something every dental professional has felt at some point in their career. While most (if not all). ●      As a fellow dentist, Jessica knows the struggles that as if you have it all together: dentists are meant to be very A-type, having gone through dental school, and “keep up the Joneses.” ●      That's why Jessica works with dentists and dental teams—both one-on-one and in groups—to be able to understand how burnout presents not just on a day-to-day basis but throughout the year. ●      Every story has a beginning. Here's how Jessica evolved from a young and eager doctor to the “Alchemist Dentist”. ○      Jessica knew she wanted to be a dentist since she was 14. Her aunt was a dentist as well, making it super easy for her to integrate into her office. Suddenly, tragedy hit Jessica from every angle. Jessica was diagnosed with a learning disability—specifically in reading comprehension at 20 years old. ○ Jessica thought dentistry was no longer on the table. She struggled with school, and, while she got the support that she needed, she never got true help for herself ○      Once she graduated, Jessica returned to Toronto and completed a hospital residency program, and fell in love with treating medically-compromised patients. ○      From there, Jessica applied for oral surgery for two years in a row to no avail. Suddenly, she received an email. From a hospital—a cancer center—reading through tears to see a full-time position offer.. ○      Jessica migrated over to the cancer center, becoming their education director, she found there was an unspoken truth that no one is doing well. ○      At that time, Jessica was lecturing on treating cancer patients. Her patients had beaten cancer and effectively healed, but they were still dealing with the many side effects that came with treatment. ○      That was when Jessica hit her third burnout, getting swept up in that underlying tone of no one doing “well,” being diagnosed with depression and a generalized anxiety disorder. She was still very functional in completing the daily rituals—but she was basically a blob: she didn't find joy in anything she was doing. ○      A few years later, Jessica felt ready to tell her story. Soon, she was messaged by fellow dental professionals who thought they were alone. ○      Many of them shared the same sentiment of fearing that they were wishing their years away. They felt they were grinding away from day to day, ○      Ever since leaving an impact like that, Jessica has become committed to empowering dentists to work through their burnout. ●   Learn about: ○   What questions, specifically, does Jessica go through with each of her clients? ○   If you're feeling burnt out, does that mean you need to leave dentistry? ○   And more! ●      Glenn and Jessica want you to know it's okay to get help, and we're here for you. On the latest episode of Mormon Book Reviews Steven Pynakker interviews one of the most important scholars of Mormonism, Brent Metcalfe. In this fascinating conversation Brent details that while working for Church security he was working on scholarly endeavors that he hoped would help contribute to apologitic defenses of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. All was going well until he encountered a particular book in the Church History library. When it was discovered that he was researching this book, it was reported to Mark E. Peterson. Shortlty thereafter Brent was fired from his job. This lead him down a path that would eventually lead to his excommunication from the Church. In this engaging conversation we discuss his early interactions with Jerald and Sandra Tanner, where in a newsletter they described Brent as the next Hugh Nibley! The conversation includes his fathers invovement in selecting Temple sites, his research history of the Book of Mormon, discoverying a photograph that was thought to be Charles Anthon but was misidentified, indentifying the unkown third scribe of the Book of Mormon, and his work on the Caracters Document. In the conclusion we discuss the legacy of Curt Bench and Brent's involvement in the docuseries "Murder Among the Mormons". I want to thank Brent for coming on and hopefully it lead to more future conversations!Patreon

Managing your risk is an important part of becoming a successful trader too. InfobesityThis is the concept of hopping from one webinar to another, in permanent-student status because you don't want to take any accountability for yourself, and you don't want to apply anything that you have learned. There are literally thousands of strategies available, so you can't possibly use them all.  Anka says that it's time to roll up your sleeves, seek a trustworthy educator that speaks to you, and resonates with your style, and then stick to that ONE strategy.  The Current State of the MarketsThere's a big debate right now about the state of the markets.  Are they going up? Are they going down?  Well, according to Anka, it all depends on what time frame you are looking at.    Technically speaking, the market is in a difficult spot and will most likely continue to be choppy for the foreseeable future.   Resources & People Mentioned RealtickTD AmeritradeFREE eBook - The Power of Trading Futures Connect with Anka Metcalfe Website:    http://tradeoutloud.comYouTube:   https://www.youtube.com/user/TradeOutLoud   Twitter:      https://twitter.com/TradeOutLoud Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TradeOutLoud         Subscribe to How To Trade ItDisclaimer: Trading carries a high level of risk, and may not be suitable for all investors.
