I'm Dr. Rebecca Smith, and I want to change your mind. Welcome to The Mindset Shift Meditation Podcast, your spot for weekly guided meditations and positive psychology mindset coaching. I hope you'll join us!
It's been FOREVER, y'all! But there's a good reason for the delay, and I go into it in depth in this episode. Join Dr. Rebecca for this week's meditation on checking in with what you need and exploring how to give that to yourself.
Join Dr. Rebecca in today's meditation on thought work, anxiety management, and the meditation tools that are -- you guessed it -- training your mind to work for *you*.
We're changing gears here at The Mindset Shift in season THREE! Dr. Rebecca kicks off this season talking about going with the flow -- checking in to see whether we should follow the plan and when it's time to prioritize what works for *you* -- before settling down for a really lovely breathing meditation to get you in the right mindset to start your weekend. Enjoy!
'Tis the season for *gratitude*, y'all! And not just because it's Thanksgiving but also because gratitude genuinely improves your mood, your wellbeing, and your mental health. Join Dr. Rebecca for this awesome beginner gratitude exercise, and check out this episode's blog post to take it to the next level: https://www.themindsetshift.co/blog/2-9-lets-feel-grateful
Today's mindful topic is a holiday favorite -- fooooood. Join Dr. Rebecca for a quick discussion on mindful eating and end with an exercise to try it yourself at home!
As the days get shorter and the morning hours darker, does anyone else need a little AM pick-me-up? Something for a clearer head, a little intention, maybe a bit more energy? In this week's episode Dr. Rebecca gives you just that -- a simple meditation for wakefulness to get you up on the right side of the bed.
So you're ready to take the reins a bit and set your own intentions in your meditation. Awesome! Love that journey for you (said with an Alexis Rose wink, naturally). But... where do you start? In today's episode Dr. Rebecca discusses this very question and leads a meditation designed to guide you just enough to choose your own adventure.
Switching from one mode to another -- from work to home, from friend-time to solo-time, from task to task -- can feel time consuming, muddled, and unproductive. (Ever find yourself scrolling on your phone trying to get your brain to the next task?) Today's meditation focuses on being intentional in those small transitions to help you feel more productive, centered, and in control.
When's the last time you felt successful? Dr. Rebecca wants to make that a daily occurrence in your life. Today's episode features a mindfulness exercise about success that you can use over and over again. Enjoy!
"This podcast is designed to help you train your mind to work for you." Dr. Rebecca says it every week, but what does it actually mean? Like, in literal, applicable terms? This week we're diving into what it means to take control of your mind, how this can help you in your real life, and how meditation plays a crucial role. We then wrap up with a really classic meditation that directly demonstrates how to build this skill. And just in case you need it, here's the link to last week's Financial Gym interview Dr. Rebecca mentions in this episode: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/financially-naked/id1493449042?i=1000536832160
Are you tired? (Aren't we all?) We could fight it, but honestly let's just go with it today. This week's episode includes a meditation for feeling tired and trying to build energy when we need it. And bonus for this week -- Dr. Rebecca recorded an interview with her financial trainer at The Financial Gym about mindset and money! Listen in here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/financially-naked/id1493449042?i=1000536832160
We're back for season two! After weathering Hurricane Ida in the gulf south we're talking connectedness and the happiness boost that kindness can provide and getting grounded with a starry meditation. If you'd like to give to the people of Southern Louisiana here are the links Dr. Rebecca talks about in this episode -- Cajun Navy (https://cajunrelief.org) and DTB Mutual Aid (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdDBtlVNTGeqBpq7Zl--YVRVLQwW7cPPWySWVNqGhZLmAE5NA/viewform).
Season one finale! We're wrapping up with a great technique Dr. Rebecca recommends for lowering anxiety, decreasing tension, and falling asleep -- progressive muscle relaxation. Feel free to use this episode to fall asleep as it skips the outgoing message and ends with the most soothing meditation -- press play and drift off. See y'all back in September for season two!!
In this episode of The Mindset Shift, Dr. Rebecca talks visualization in meditation -- what it is, how we use it in different ways, and why it can help get us into that flow -- before wrapping up with a longer guided meditation with a peaceful visual story.
Let's all take a deep breath, shall we? In this week's episode Dr. Rebecca talks about breath work in meditation, teaches three breathing techniques that can be great for mindfulness and anxiety control, and leads a quick, breath-guided meditation. Enjoy!
This week we're diving into the foundation of meditation -- mindfulness. In this episode Dr. Rebecca talks a bit about what mindfulness is, why the vulnerability of meditation is important, and how we can use this practice to get us used to accepting, nonjudgmentally, where we are at this moment.
Join Dr. Rebecca this week as we start off with a body scan meditation. A body scan is a mindfulness exercise in which you allow your mind to rest on different parts of the body in sequence, using your breath and your attention on different areas as your guide. This is a great starter mindfulness practice. It's wonderfully versatile, easy to try, and allows you to start with what you've got. Enjoy!
