Irene trained as an addiction counsellor in Paris in 1995 and has worked in the fieldsince. The first 5 years in France, she was invovled in setting up a drug free wing in a prision as well as working in the one minnesota model residential treament center.She moved back to Ireland in 2000 and got a degree in psychoanalysis and postgraduates in managing in the community sector and adult and community education.She has worked at the the Rutland Center, then Soilse day programme, and for the last 16 years has managed HOPE. HOPE works to help people find abstience based recovery from addiction.She has also been a commuity advocacte for recovery and has served as a community rep on the drugs task force, the docklands forum, and the programme impletmentation board of the NEIC - an organsistion set up to bring change to the NEIC. Our guest on this podcast was born in County Galway and would be considered Irish musical royalty. In 1985 she recorded her debut LP, Tired and Emotional, a major hit here in Ireland. After Tired and Emotional, she drank alcohol excessively and was hospitalized more than thirty times. She started her journey of recovery in 1994 and celebrates 26 years of life without drink and drugs. A number of other records followed in the years to come, and she became a critical favourite throughout much of Europe. With 1997's After the Fall, Mary made her U.S. debut, soon earning a devoted following on American shores. She has released many albums since including her latest album Live & Kicking in 2018. So we are happy to welcome Mary Coughlan.

In EP023 the lads are joined by Lulu Sinnot. Lulu was born in Dun laoghaire Dublin in 1953. She has worked all over the world in many different occupations including managing hotels, restaurants, Chefing, waiting tables and au pairing in Ireland, The Black Forest, Paris, San Francisco, California and Italy amongst others. She then had an underwater video business in Mexico for several years. After moving back to Ireland in 1993 she had a daughter Clare with her second husband Barry. Barry tragically passed away 4 years ago during his Erasmus year in Bolivia. She worked for 17 years as a social care assistant and a couple of years back studied Psychology and did an Erasmus year in Berlin. Gavan is a Galway Native. From the age of 16 he abused alcohol and drugs and found himself in rehab at 21. After getting clean and sober he fell in love with surfing and diving and the great outdoors in general. He then became a saturation diver, which brought him all over the world for 10 years repairing oil rigs. Several years ago he started taking part in extreme endurance events and is probably best known for his record breaking 3000 mile solo row across the Atlantic in 2017.
