The Bros sit down with new Pro Class 1 Team Outta Pocket/XINSURANCE South, with owner/rookie driver Kevin Birrell and his veteran thorttleman, Billy Moore. This episode was recorded LIVE in Cocoa Beach just after the conclusion of the Awards Ceremony, where an event record number of 89 boats faced some of the most extreme conditions in recent memory at the IHRA's Thunder on Cocoa Beach 2026, presented by Monster Energy. Broken equipment and a few broken spirits filled the race pits and the end of the event. But for some, like Kevin and Billy, they had a BLAST in the turbulent seas of Cocoa Beach. Listen as the guys discuss their experience in the "sporty" conditions and discuss the unfortunate disqualification that erased what looked to be a Saturday victory and the new duo's first checkered flag. This episode is brought to you by Monster Energy. Myrick Coil is the driver for the National Champion Monster Energy / M CON Pro Class 1 team, Speedboat Magazine Test Team Driver, lead shop foreman at Performance Boat Center and a dedicated family man and father of 5. A bumper Sunday NRL Show saw the Roosters Connor Watson join the team and his next move in Rugby League was a hot topic of discussion. He's being courted by a number of clubs which he admitted was nice but he'd still like to put pen to paper sooner rather than later. He joined Luke Lewis and John Gibbs in tackling the big issues in Six Again and they gave a first thought on Workhorses. There's a chance to get to know the latest member of the ABC's NRL crew - Scott Sorensen, Billy Moore goes head to head to dissect the State of Origin teams and Manly's Jamala Fogarty lifts the lid on the stripped back prep under coach Kieran Foran. Chris Mortimer chatted about NSW 1st ever Origin clean sweep and on the subject of Origin it's time for a re-working of the Denis Carnahan classic That's in Queensland.
The guys welcome back Billy Moore of Executive Property Maintenance, and Mike Santolucito of Outdoor Pride to continue with the RFP/Contract discussion started last week. The guys bring their own experiences into play to discuss what you may be missing in your contracts that can cost you money by not having.
The Rugby League World is massed in Brisbane for Magic Round and on the eve of the naming of the Men's Origin teams it's an ideal opportunity to get two great Origin pugilists to name their squads for Game 1. In the Blue Corner - Luke Lewis, and in the Red (well, Maroon) corner Billy Moore. The uber Queenslander reckons talk of Kalyn Ponga at half back is wide of the mark. Also, Lewey joins Andrew Moore and John Gibbs to tackle the issues of the week in Six Again. And North Queensland back rower Sam McIntyre jumped on for a chat after picking up three ABC Sport Player of the Year points in the Cowboys gritty win over the Roosters. The 'First Thought' is the GOAT and there's a doubly special Live Song of the Week from Denis Carnahan celebrating our septuagenarian sideline Johnny Gibbs.

On the eve of the 2026 Magic Round there's talk that from 2027 the format of the weekend might have to get a tweak. With the Perth Bears joining the party there'll be an extra NRL match to fit in (and no team sitting out) so what does that mean for the Women's Origin match which has kicked the weekend off on the Thursday? Quentin Hull, Billy Moore and Zane Bojack reckon that match should stay. Q and Billy also discussed the introduction of health screenings for former players and were joined by the Raiders powerful centre Matt Timoko. The Green Machine man reckons the uptick in their form is down to one thing - keeping it simple.

In this deeply moving episode, we explore the life, loss, and legacy of Ben “Benji” Wilson—the nation's #1 high school basketball player in 1984 and the pride of Chicago's South Side. What began as a typical school day spiraled into tragedy when Benji was shot just steps from Simeon High School. We walk you through the events leading up to the shooting, the emotional weight carried by his family and community, and the tense courtroom battle that followed.Beyond the headlines, this episode shines a light on something even more heartbreaking: the systemic failures that played a devastating role in Benji's death. The outdated EMS policy that sent him to a hospital unequipped to save him became a turning point for the city.We also honor the resilience of his mother, Mary Wilson, whose advocacy helped change Chicago's trauma response system—and whose strength ensured that Benji's story would continue to shape futures long after his life was cut short.Benji's legacy lives on in Chicago gyms, in the #25 jersey worn proudly by generations of players, and in the policy reforms sparked by his tragedy. This story is a powerful reminder of what gun violence steals from families, communities, and the dreams of young Black men full of promise.------------------------------------------------------------------- KeywordsBenji Wilson, Chicago, Simeon High School, basketball, gun violence, emergency response, EMS policy, systemic failure, trial, community grief, Mary Wilson, legacy, youth athletes, Chicago history-----------------------------------------------------------------Key TakeawaysBenji Wilson was a gifted basketball star whose talent and leadership made him a beacon of hope in Chicago. His fatal shooting in 1984 sent shockwaves through the city and became one of the most painful chapters in Chicago sports history. The trial of Billy Moore and Omar Dixon highlighted two competing narratives—and exposed how emotion and public pressure shaped the courtroom.A critical emergency response failure contributed to Benji's death when he was transported to a non–trauma-equipped hospital.Benji's tragedy directly influenced Chicago's EMS reforms, ensuring gunshot victims are now taken to trauma centers. His mother, Mary Wilson, transformed her grief into advocacy, championing policy reform and youth safety.Benji's legacy continues to inspire Chicago athletes, including NBA stars like Derrick Rose and Jabari Parker. His story remains a powerful reminder of the long-lasting impact of gun violence on families, communities, and generational dreams.Chicago still honors Benji's influence on basketball culture—and his life continues to shape conversations about safety, justice, and hope.

The North Sydney Bears haven't played in the NRL since 1999, but it looks like the Western Australia government might be extending a lifeline. Talks between the ARLC and the WA government have been positive and all signs point to the 18th licence heading west. Billy Moore stands as one of the most successful offshore powerboat racers competing today. Following in the footsteps of his father, Bobby Moore—widely considered the first throttle man in offshore racing—Billy “works the sticks” in both Class 1 and Super Cat. I spoke with Moore recently, just as his Defalco Racing Class 1 team celebrated back-to-back wins at Mercury Racing's Midwest Challenge in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. In addition to racing for Defalco, Moore throttles the C.J. Grant Racing/Graydel Skater in the Super Cat class. Not only did Moore gain invaluable racing insight from his legendary father, but he also learned the finer points of boat rigging and race boat setup, beginning his tenure at his father's shop at 15. In this episode,Moore shares how the Defalco team made the strategic choice to switch from an Outer Limits hull to a Victory in the offseason and the challenges and rewards that followed. Based near Moore's home in Washington, North Carolina, the Defalco team benefits from his close involvement. Moore is also a key figure at Checkmate Powerboats, which is owned by Pete Caldwell of Caldwell Marine Designs. He shares updates on Checkmate's current direction and exciting future plans, including a possible trip out west to compete in the Parker Enduro.
