Derry and company search for Kyer even as she battles with her choices. Doubt builds in Derry's mind. Hunter confides in Golgathaur, who has...a plan.

The party's suspicions of the stranger in the meadow vary. Derry grows more frustrated with Kyer. Kyer meets a former acquaintance, and learns something that throws her into a tailspin.

Kien writes a letter. Hunter and co. make their presence known. Kyer defends Kayme when Derry doubts him, and Kyer responds to the voice in her head, adding to Derry's vexation.

Hunter's party was not unscathed. Meanwhile, back in Hreth.... Then, Kyer must come up with a plausible explanation to tell the others. She receives some baffling information. 

Kyer receives a warning from a familiar mysterious figure. Jesqellan is suspicious. Kyer and Phennil go in search of the first ingredient.

Derry has concerns, as the company heads out with a new destination. Skimnoddle demonstrates why Valrayker invited him to join the group. Kayme receives a visitor. Hunter receives new orders, and is less than pleased.

Kyer finds out what Kayme, the greatest wizard in all of Rydris, wants of her.
