Welp, it's time. Here's Negan! Such a polarizing character, and y'all know I have my gripes. But I absolutely can't deny he brought a huge shot of adrenaline to this show. He's a character I often find incredibly fun to watch, and also, in some ways, frustratingly problematic. I'm very glad to have Alex here—cohost of our Dead City coverage and a huge Negan fan—to go over this landmark episode, with maybe the most iconic scene in all of The Walking Dead. So buckle up. Whether you like it or not, it's pee-pee pants city time. Mentioned Fantastic interview with Scott Gimple (video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc9KuGaSCAY Enjoying the rewatch? Dr. Anthony Fauci has been subpoenaed by the US Senate, just days after Tulsi Gabbard declassified more COVID-origins documents. Justin Hart says they finally show how Dr. Fauci used a “circular reporting loop” to mislead the CIA as they investigated whether “his own funded research might have caused the pandemic.” While under oath in 2024, Fauci was asked by Congress if he'd spoken to the CIA about viral research, responding “not to my knowledge about COVID.” These new documents appear to conflict with Dr. Fauci's testimony. “It works like this,” writes Hart. “Fauci hands the intelligence community a list of scientists to consult. The IC consults them. Their conclusions become the official intelligence assessment… The scientists vouch for Fauci, the spies vouch for the scientists, and the public is told the whole circle is consensus.” Hart says Fauci pointed analysts toward research he called consistent with natural origins and recommended specific scientists who already agreed with him. Justin Hart discusses the new bombshell reports and Bill Pulte, tapped as acting DNI after Gabbard's resignation. The Losers Club bands together to fight a shape-shifting entity that disguises itself primarily as a clown and feeds on children in the summer of 1989 in Derry, Maine. It, based off the classic Stephen King novel, depicts half of the story, focusing on the kids as they fight Pennywise who is feasting on children in Derry, Maine. This film fits perfectly into the Kids Aren't Alright month as the kids in Derry are going missing and the Losers Club discovers Pennywise is hungry for their fear. The kids in this rendition of the story portray the characters well and we believe the portion of the story where the kids fight Pennywise is the better half of the story vs when the adults come back to Derry in the future. Bill Skarsgard's performance and re-brand of the infamous Pennywise was amazing and as good as the iconic Tim Curry performance from the 1990 TV mini series. The Echo Sport Podcast crew is back to discuss another bumper weekend of Cork GAA action. Now in its fourth season, the podcast sees the Echo team discuss all the latest Cork GAA news on and off the field. In the wake of the Cork hurlers reaching the All-Ireland SHC semi-finals for the third straight year and the minor football team producing another fine display to get to an All-Ireland final, Denis Hurley is joined by Barry O'Mahony and Rory Noonan. As Rory and Barry pointed out, Cork were caught between a rock and a hard place in terms of their All-Ireland quarter-final against Offaly – a big win would not necessarily give much insight whereas a tight battle would have raised plenty of questions. In the event, Cork got the job done in a professional fashion, scoring six goals as they won by 26 points, and a semi-final with Galway looms as Ben O'Connor's side aim to reach a third straight All-Ireland final – something Cork last did during the manager's own playing days, 2004-06.Four changes to the starting team meant a chance for players to stake their claims and Rory and Barry assess how they fared while also discussing the use of the Cork bench.Cork's win, and that of Clare against Limerick, mean that the All-Ireland semi-finals will once again feature three Munster teams – while the state of hurling is part of a wider discussion, the dominance of southern sides is something worthy of consideration. For now though, the Cork journey continues while the last-four tie against the Leinster champions on Saturday, July 4 is again set to be close to a sell-out: at a time when it is so expensive to bring a family to a match, the dedication of the Cork support again comes in for praise from the panel. The Rebel supporters will be on the road again this weekend, with Mayo the opponents for the Cork football team in the All-Ireland quarter-final at Croke Park.Barry O'Mahony believes that it is as good a draw as Cork could have hoped for, with the westerners not the force they were when they were regularly reaching All-Ireland finals. Both he and Rory expect a tough battle but with Cork given a great chance to reach the semi-finals for what would be the first time since 2012.The big-ball code is on a roll on Leeside, with Keith Ricken's side through to the All-Ireland final following a great win over Derry. Barry O'Mahony feels that the strength of the collective unit has come to the fore, with Rory Noonan singling out Ricken's man-management skills and ability to develop young players. You can listen here or wherever you get your podcasts. Why would someone reject belief in God while also questioning the label "atheist"? In this fascinating conversation, Ethan and Derry sit down with Evan Lichtblau to discuss his perspective on God, belief, and why he doesn't fully identify with the term atheist. Together, they explore some of the biggest questions facing Christians, skeptics, and people wrestling with faith today. The discussion covers atheism, evolution, logic, morality, the existence of God, and whether objective truth can exist without a Creator. Evan shares his own views and experiences while engaging in an honest dialogue about belief and unbelief. This episode is designed for Christians, Gen Z believers, skeptics, former Christians, and anyone asking difficult questions about faith. Rather than relying on debates or sound bites, the conversation seeks to understand different perspectives while examining the arguments surrounding Christianity and atheism. If you've ever questioned your faith, wondered whether science and Christianity can coexist, explored atheism, or struggled with questions about morality, truth, and God, this discussion is for you.Subscribe for conversations about biblical truth, Christian apologetics, discipleship, theology, and helping young Christians develop a thoughtful, informed faith in today's culture.
Reposted from Wax Episodic, which you can find at: https://podcastica.com/podcast/wax-episodic — So much heartbreak in this episode, between Gretchen breaking things off with Innie Dylan, Burt and Irving separating, Mark suffering and frustrated, and we even felt bad for Helena being oppressed by her father and Milchick being humiliated by Drummond (devour feculence, Drummond!). One of the best looking shows on TV, funny as hell, violent AF (but in a cartoony way), and with a great cast, including Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) and Walton Goggins (The White Lotus, The Righteous Gemstones). Not to be missed! Hosted by Jason, Kara, and Kasi. Pluribus (Apple TV): Everyone is transformed into a pleasant hive mind — except for Carol (Rhea Seehorn), the most miserable woman on the planet, who must save the world from happiness. It's sounds weird, and it is… in the best way. Created by the great Vince Gilligan, of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Hosted by Jason and Karen! IT: Welcome to Derry (HBO): A fun, scary, and surprisingly great prequel to the 2016 and 2019 IT movies, Pennywise stalks the children of 1962 Derry. A mix of heart, mystery, charm, and some shockingly disturbing Nightmare on Elme Street-esque horror. Cohosted by Shawn of Strange Indeed. Alien: Earth (FX): From the brilliant Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion), this one really scratches that sci-fi itch. A greedy corporate tech overlord transfers the consciousness of a group of terminally ill children into highly performant synth bodies. And the Xenomorph is in it, too. Also, Tim Olyphant! For most of the world, Nell McCafferty was a pioneering journalist, feminist, civil rights activist, and one of Ireland's most fearless public voices. For Carmel McCafferty and her daughter Muire McCallion, she was simply "our Nell."Carmel is Nell McCafferty's youngest sister, one of six siblings raised in a modest three-bedroom home in Derry's Bogside. Muire, Carmel's daughter, grew up knowing Nell as the adventurous aunt who arrived with improbable schemes, unexpected journeys, and endless curiosity. This episode is a free-wheeling recollection of Nell McCafferty, the sister and the aunt, as remembered in a warm and raucous conversation.Credits:Photos and text, John NoltnerField production, summer interns Kate West, Sawyer Garrison, and Kaitlin ImaiAudio Engineering, Razik SaifullahThanks for listening to A Peace of My Mind's podcast. Patricia Moore is a community activist and longtime Sinn Féin member from Derry, Northern Ireland, whose life has been shaped by the Troubles and the subsequent peace process. Raised in Derry during some of the most violent years of the conflict, she experienced military raids, street violence, and the daily realities of a divided society from an early age. At 17, she became involved in republican politics and later spent more than a year in prison after being detained during a mass arrest operation; the case against her ultimately collapsed when the key witness withdrew her testimony.Moore describes prison as both a hardship and a place of political education, where solidarity among women prisoners and engagement with political debate deepened her commitment to social and political change. In the decades since, she has become a strong advocate for dialogue and reconciliation, working with former prisoners, loyalists, former British soldiers, and community groups across traditional divides. She has also participated in efforts to rebuild trust in public institutions and encourage nonviolent civic engagement.Today, Moore speaks openly about the human cost of conflict while emphasizing the importance of conversation, accountability, and cooperation. She remains committed to building what she describes as “a new Ireland for everybody”—one based on equality, respect, and shared opportunity across communities.Credits:Photos and text, John NoltnerField production, summer interns Kate West, Sawyer Garrison, and Kaitlin ImaiAudio Engineering, Razik SaifullahThanks for listening to A Peace of My Mind's podcast. Welcome to Multiverse News, your source for information about all your favorite fictional universes. While it may come as no surprise, the biggest Marvel news this week is still just as exciting as it is obvious with the revelation that Chris Evans will indeed appear in Secret Wars. While not officially confirmed by Marvel, the news broke via a social media post from March 26, that is just now gaining notice, with the actor himself telling Instagram user @comicconmomsi, "I can tell you that...I start work on the next one in a couple of months, I can tell you that," in a video message. In May, we discussed headlines from sources like Variety and The Wrap that seemingly confirmed Sebastian Stan had been cast as Harvey Dent, as he had long been rumored to be, with Scarlett Johansson and Charles Dance announced as Dent's wife and father, respectively. In hindsight, those headlines resulted from Matt Reeve's social media post where he confirmed and welcomed a number of actors as part of the film but did not actually reveal any roles. In the last week, industry insider Jeff Sneider has suggested that his sources claim that Stan will instead play Victor Zsasz and Brian Tyree Henry is set to portray Harvey. Steven Spielberg has returned to the blockbuster arena for the first time in eight years with Disclosure Day, his UFO sci-fi thriller starring Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor, which opened to approximately $44 million domestically and $93.9 million globally, making it his biggest opening weekend ever for an original film. This moving Psalm speaks of someone overwhelmed by the circumstances of life, who cries out for salvation and receives deliverance. Set to the tune ‘The Streets of Derry,' it tells of the distress the psalmist is facing, the weariness from calling out, and the request for God's face not to be hidden. A station wagon ride. A movie theater. A bathtub drain. In IT: Welcome to Derry, some of the most ordinary places become the source of the show's most memorable nightmares. This week on Below the Line, Film Editor Esther Sokolow joins Skid and co-host Gianni Damaia to discuss editing the pilot episode of IT: Welcome to Derry. Building on the world established in IT Chapters One and Two, Esther breaks down how the creative team crafted the pilot's most memorable scares while exploring an earlier chapter in Pennywise's history. HBO provided four clips from the pilot episode, giving Esther the opportunity to break down: The station wagon sequence that transforms a seemingly kind family into one of the pilot's most disturbing nightmares The theater massacre and the editorial decision to anchor the chaos through Lilly's point of view Teddy's encounter with the living lampshade and the practical effects hidden within the scare Lilly's bathtub vision and the subtle editorial tricks that make Pennywise's presence feel unnervingly wrong Beyond the individual scares, Esther explains how horror editing relies on audience empathy, carefully controlled perspective, and a deep understanding of what viewers fear before the monster ever appears. From sound design and pacing to practical effects and performance, she offers a fascinating look at adapting Stephen King's world for television while creating an identity uniquely suited to IT: Welcome to Derry.

The Transformers franchise is shifting gears again, and this episode breaks down the latest writer news and what it signals for the road ahead. Paramount and Hasbro have brought in Jason Fuchs to write a new live-action Transformers movie, and his resume reads as a mixed bag of big swings, from Wonder Woman and Welcome to Derry to Argylle and the 2015 fantasy film Pan. That hire lands at a pivotal moment, with a second live-action project already moving as a Transformers and G.I. Joe crossover written by Derek Connolly. This is a franchise squarely in rebuilding mode. Transformers One underperformed at the box office despite being better than its reputation suggests, Rise of the Beasts performed commercially but took critical hits, and the well-liked Bumblebee approach has been left behind. The big question on the table: is a reboot coming too soon, or is fresh blood exactly what Transformers needs to win over a new generation?Timestamps0:00 New Transformers Movie and the Jason Fuchs Hire0:08 What Fuchs Is Known For: Wonder Woman, Welcome to Derry, Argylle, Pan0:14 The G.I. Paul McLaughlin is an educator, historian, community leader, and lifelong resident of Derry, Northern Ireland. Growing up during the Troubles, Paul's earliest memory is witnessing the day of Bloody Sunday as a six-year-old child, an experience that profoundly shaped his understanding of conflict, identity, and justice. Rather than following many of his peers into the violence that engulfed Northern Ireland, he found purpose through sport, education, and public service.A passionate student of history, Paul devoted his career to helping young people understand the past while building a more hopeful future. As a teacher, youth football coach, and community advocate, he has worked to create opportunities for cross-community engagement and reconciliation. Having lived through decades of division, military occupation, and political turmoil, Paul witnessed firsthand the transformative power of the Good Friday Agreement and remains committed to fostering peace, understanding, and dialogue.Today, he shares his story as a reminder that even in societies marked by deep conflict, hope, education, and human connection can help create lasting change.Credits:Photos and text, John NoltnerField production, summer interns Kate West, Sawyer Garrison, and Kaitlin ImaiAudio Engineering, Razik SaifullahThanks for listening to A Peace of My Mind's podcast. We're back in business with a slightly different show this week as Conan Byrne dials in to join Canadian based Dan to reflect on the season so far and magic moments in Montreal for Dawson Devoy, Kian Leavy and Adam Brennan. We hear from Kian in a shameless Ardee themed segment before discussing the challenges faced by Dawson in an appearance where he was occasionally left up shit creek. There's a mid-season themed mailbag with some Derry angst, more Robbie Benson goal nostalgia and a farewell to the verucas. There's also the quiz question that wasn't and some Conan halfway line goal nostalgia, all made possible by our friends at Collar & Cuff, Future Ticketing, Planify and Chido, our favourite Mexican themed lager.

What happens when life changes in an instant? In this heartfelt episode of The Motivatarian Exchange, I sit down with Lori Morgan, founder and creative force behind Tom & Chickpea, a beloved furniture painting and creative studio in Derry, New Hampshire. Lori's story is one of resilience, reinvention, creativity, and community. After the sudden loss of her husband Tom in 2017, Lori found herself navigating unimaginable grief while raising two young children. About a year later, she picked up a paintbrush—and that simple act became the beginning of an entirely new chapter. Today, Lori is an artist, furniture painter, interior design enthusiast, Wise Owl Paint retailer, business owner, community advocate, and the creator of a thriving brick-and-mortar creative space that recently celebrated five years in business. In this conversation, we discuss: ✨ Using creativity as a path toward healing ✨ Building a business after personal loss ✨ The connection between interior design, color, texture, and emotion ✨ Opening a creative retail shop and serving a local community ✨ The importance of organic growth and authentic connection ✨ Supporting other artists through collaboration and shared spaces ✨ Finding purpose through reinvention Lori also shares the touching story behind the name Tom&Chickpea and how her late husband continues to inspire everything she creates today. Whether you're an artist, entrepreneur, creative business owner, or someone navigating a season of change, this episode is a beautiful reminder that new beginnings can emerge from the most unexpected places. Listen now and discover how creativity can help us heal, connect, and begin again. Upcoming Events: I do a lot of community service and am going to be in the news soon for helping coordinate the collection of formal wear for the upcoming proms of the two high schools in town. I offer private paint classes with several scheduled this month and am working to offer a paint demonstration at a local winery in the next month. I also carry the work of several local artists and share my space with them to offer classes in their areas of art as well (pottery, dried flower arranging and more) Fun Facts: I bring my Schnoodle Leon to the shop every day and his underbite wins everyone over the moment they see him. Mark Durkan has spent much of his life navigating Northern Ireland 's difficult path from conflict to peace. A native of Derry, he was deeply involved in the negotiations and implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, later serving as Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland and as a member of Parliament.Throughout his career, Mark has championed the idea that peace is more than a political settlement. While agreements can create the conditions for change, he believes reconciliation is sustained by the everyday work of communities, artists, educators, and ordinary citizens who choose connection over division. Drawing on decades of experience, he speaks about the challenges of addressing painful histories, building trust, and creating shared spaces where people can re-imagine a common future.Today, through his work with the John and Pat Hume Foundation and other civic initiatives, Mark continues to encourage dialogue, understanding, and the belief that lasting peace is built one relationship at a time.Credits:Photos and text, John NoltnerField production, summer interns Kate West, Sawyer Garrison, and Kaitlin ImaiAudio Engineering, Razik SaifullahThanks for listening to A Peace of My Mind's podcast. It's been a while, meaning we'll cover some recent news from the watch industry, sneaker landscape, television, and even our personal lives. We look forward to catching up with you! It's been nearly two months since we last published an episode of Fratello On Air. Yes, that's too long, but life has gotten in the way. It's mainly Mike who has had a crazy travel schedule, with just 36 hours spent in the UK in April. Balazs has been at the ready, but just seven weeks ago, he became a father as his daughter was born (on RJ's birthday, no less!). But here we are, with a full hour to catch up and a plan to visit the airwaves regularly.HandgelenkskontrolleWe actually end our show with the Handgelenkskontrolle, but tradition requires it to open our written recap. At the beginning of the show, we cover a multitude of topics. Of course, we mention travel with Mike doing the lion's share of flying. Multiple trips to the United States, a stop in Switzerland for Watches and Wonders 2026, Germany, and Italy have made the flight plan over the last two months. But don't worry, we've been watching television during flights or sleepless newborn nights. From, Euphoria, Succession, and IT: Welcome to Derry are some of the shows we've been viewing. Regarding shoes, Balazs mentioned the Nike Tennis Classic PRM, a sneaker with surfaces inspired by watch straps. Meanwhile, Mike has purchased a lively pair of New Balance 992s for the summer. For the Handgelenkskontrolle, Mike is wearing his modern, dark blue 42mm Breitling SuperOcean. Balazs is wearing the watch he had on during his daughter's birth, his beloved Rolex GMT-Master 1675.Catching up on the newsOf course, we discuss the Audemars Piguet × Swatch Royal Pop. While he's not in love with the watch, he feels that it's one of the most significant happenings in watch history. That's a bold take! We also spend time talking about the new and pre-owned watch market in general. Balazs also mentions a recently auctioned Cartier-signed Piaget dual time, which sold for a wild amount of money. Mike's longtime favorite, the Cartier Tank Normale, also makes an appearance. Regarding recent acquisitions, Balazs has a new Grand Seiko waiting for him in the UK. Mike has gone in a very different direction with a vintage Bulova Accutron Spaceview. Despite numerous concerns about the reliability of these pieces, the watch has run perfectly for nearly two months. It even visited Watches and Wonders! This watch prompts a lovely story about Roger Smith, who owns a cantankerous version of the watch. We hope you enjoyed this episode of Fratello On Air. We promise to be back much sooner next time. Thanks for listening and, as always, if you have ideas for future shows, let us know!
Ugh, it's this one. The feeling of what it was like for us to watch this episode is well-captured by the look on most characters' faces throughout. They're clearly not happy with what they're being asked to do. And neither are we. The show takes a turn here, in some ways into darker territory than ever before. Yep. Enjoying the rewatch? When Frederick Douglass left Belfast in 1845, only seven years after escaping slavery, he declared: "Wherever else I feel myself to be a stranger, I will remember I have a home in Belfast." That remarkable statement from a Black abolitionist finding radical welcome in a 19th-century Irish city is the beating heart of North Star, the immersive musical and theatrical experience that Northern Ireland-based DJ, broadcaster, and creative producer Kwame Daniels brings to New York's Irish Arts Center, June 3–21.Irish Stew cohosts Martin Nutty and John Lee met Kwame at the Irish Arts Center a few days before opening night and recorded this episode in the IAC LibraryHe relates that his journey to Belfast began in a Ghanaian household in East London, where identity was worn proudly inside the home and navigated carefully beyond it. "As soon as we entered the house again, it was absolutely back to the background, the roots, and the culture," he recalls. "But outside, there was almost a code-switch going on. We were firm in our identity, and yet we were also aware of our surroundings and how we had to move within them." That same fluency served him when he arrived in Derry in 1997 and found a city divided along lines he didn't yet understand. Music became his passport across the sectarian divide. "I was bringing in sets of decks (the equipment DJs use to play, control, and manipulate music). That's the conversation, all the other conversations come out of that."Kwame relates that Douglass's Belfast story with his evocation of finding a home in the city hit him with the force of revelation. "A Black man, an enslaved man on the run in 1845 and that's his response to being in Belfast. That has to be the starting point for us to reset."The result is a 77-minute production, one minute for every year of Douglass's life, an immersive experience fusing hip-hop, jazz, gospel, classical, and electronic music with spoken word, choral arrangements, and the honest voices of young people from both Belfast and New York. "You're going to be presented with a level of musicianship that is extraordinary, and it's unlike anything you've ever seen."North Star runs June 3–21 at the Irish Arts Center, tickets at irishartscenter.org.Next up from Irish Stew, Fresh Stew LIVE with Terry Golway on his new thriller Terror From America: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, recorded before sold out audience in the Malachy McCourt Room at Ernie O'Malley's Pub in NYC with the fiddler Eileen McLain and actor Mick Mellamphy enhancing the experience.LINKSNORTH STARIrish Arts Center info and ticketsInstagramKWAME DANIELSInstagramFacebookLinkedInORGANIZATIONSBounce CultureSolabIRISH STEW LINKSWebsite Home PageFacebookInstagramLinkedInMedia Partner: IrishCentralEpisode Details: Season 8, Episode 18; Total Episode Count: 159Send us Fan Mail
Martina Anderson is a lifelong Irish republican, former political prisoner, and veteran political leader from Derry's Bogside. Arrested in the early years of the Troubles, she spent nearly fourteen years in prison, including a decade in England, before her release under the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.Following her release, Anderson unexpectedly found herself in public office, serving as a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly, a Junior Minister in the Executive Office, and later as a Member of the European Parliament for Sinn Féin, where she represented Northern Ireland for more than seven years. She was also among the first Sinn Féin representatives appointed to the Policing Board, helping oversee reforms aimed at increasing accountability and human rights protections in post-conflict policing.Credits:Photos and text, John NoltnerField production, summer interns Kate West, Sawyer Garrison, and Kaitlin ImaiAudio Engineering, Razik SaifullahThanks for listening to A Peace of My Mind's podcast. Reposted from Wax Episodic, which you can find at: https://podcastica.com/podcast/wax-episodic — An episode of thruples (sometimes with only two people), and so of course we invited in a third, listener Damian, for this week's podcast. It's kind of like a chat forum, our own little private Podcastica space to talk about Severance, Pluribus, Fallout, Welcome to Derry, Alien: Earth, and whatever else we want. It's free, and it's fun. Invitation link: https://discord.gg/6WUMt3m3qe Other shows we cover on this podcast: We cover these other intelligent, engaging, oftentimes delightfully twisted shows: Fallout (Amazon): A crazy retro-futuristic post-apocalyptic melange of wholesomeness and depravity. Hosted by Jason, Kara, and Randy. Check out other podcasts on our network at podcastica.com. Digging our podcast? What a breath of fresh air this episode is after the intensity and trauma of the season so far. The lightness and warmth of it are such a welcome relief. And what a milestone it is to see Rick and Michonne finally get together. The first time around it felt abrupt to some, but this rewatch has made it clear they were destined for each other from the moment they met. We're happy to be joined this week by special guest Clare Reterrer, one of the biggest Rick/Michonne shippers I know.
