We are back after an international break to forget and savouring a weekend to remember in the FAI Cup unless you happen to be from Connacht. Kerry FC's heroic exploits take top billing, but there's a heavy Sligo Rovers angle to that drama too while Johnny was down at Richmond Park to hear from Kian Leavy and John Caulfield after St Patrick's Athletic got the better of Galway. Dan details a dramatic night in Drogheda and there's a bit of Derry chat too in a crowded mailbag that includes TV statistics, Israel, the DUP and why the difficult child has become the FAI's favourite distraction. In a week of 4-3 wins, we remain grateful to our four sponsors who make this happen consistently - our friends at Future Ticketing, Rascals Brewing, Collar & Cuff and Sport Cosanta
The “glass half full” fan says after the New Orleans Saints' 26-21 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday: “Well, we were in it all the way until the end with a chance to win.” The “glass half empty” fan says: “0-2 is 0-2.” Which is closer to reality? Host Jim Derry speaks his mind in his weekly “Derry's Dime,” and the Dat Family has plenty to say on another “Mano E Monday” edition of the Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 415) presented by Evangeline Securities. Spencer Rattler had his best game of his young career and Coach Kellen Moore had a better game plan, but what's up with the defense? Meanwhile, LSU coach Brian Kelly got a little hot with a local reporter after the Tigers used five interceptions to beat Florida, while Jim has nothing but love for Tulane and its fans following his visit to Yulman Stadium on Saturday for the Green Wave's win over Duke. Gabe Henderson is here to talk college football and share his picks for Monday Night Football.
In this episode, Sean and Justin sit down with Anthony Lucarini—Next Gen Pastor at Low Country Community Church in South Carolina—to talk about a major shift we've been noticing in Gen Z.The hype-driven, attractional model isn't connecting like it used to. Instead, students today are hungry for something real—unapologetically spiritual environments where they can encounter Jesus, hear truth, and grow deeper in their faith. And surprisingly, even students who don't go to church seem more curious than ever.We talk through how youth pastors can rethink programming, messages, and culture to reflect this shift—and how to lead ministries that don't just entertain students but equip them spiritually. It's a rich and practical convo. We can't wait for you to hear.Make sure to follow Anthony on IG:https://www.instagram.com/anthonylucarini/

He has been capped 29 times by Northern Ireland and played for 20 clubs in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.Jones was born in Derry, Northern Ireland and moved to Manchester with his family at age 13. In his late teens, he played for Chadderton in the North West Counties Division One[5] before signing for Blackpool in July 1995.[6] After spending time playing for Blackpool's youth and reserve teams, he signed for Bury on a free transfer in July 1996. Unable to settle at Bury and frustrated by the lack of first-team opportunities, Jones decided to move to the Republic of Ireland and sign for League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers in July 1997, stating that Rovers manager Nicky Reid's offer of a full-time contract was what ultimately made up his mind.On 30 August 1997, he made his debut for The Bit o' Red in the league match against Bohemians, scoring just before half-time in the 2–2 draw at The Showgrounds. He spent almost two seasons with Sligo and won the League of Ireland Cup after playing in the final against Shelbourne in February 1998. Overall, he played 46 games and scored 6 goals for Sligo before moving to Bray Wanderers in January 1999. Jones made his debut for Bray on 22 January, playing in the 0–0 league draw with Finn Harps at Carlisle Grounds. Later that year, Jones was homesick and moved back to England, later having a brief spell with Northern Premier League side Chorley where he played in the last four games of the season for The Magpies.
In this episode of Robots and Red Tape, host Nick Schutt interviews Derry Goberdhansingh, a versatile technologist and entrepreneur with a diverse background spanning AI, blockchain, hardware development, and data analytics, to explore how a broad skillset fuels innovation in AI and beyond. Derry shares his journey from pulling cables and managing logistics to building IoT-enabled cameras for drones and helicopters, fixing a global bug in Samsung phones, and pioneering blockchain analytics before it became mainstream. He discusses how his “desire to learn” drives him to master new fields, from AI 11 years ago to electromagnetic spectrum applications for satellite technology. Derry emphasizes the power of a generalist's perspective, recounting how his knowledge of physical sciences transformed a complex AI data analysis project, achieving 99% model accuracy in days instead of months by reframing the problem space. The conversation dives into the balance between specialization and generalization in AI development, with Derry advocating for a holistic approach to problem-solving: “You can be very right and extremely wrong at the same time”. He highlights the importance of understanding interconnected systems, anticipating unintended consequences, and fostering human-centric AI solutions that respect the workforce. From quantum computing's potential to the societal impacts of automation, Derry offers insights on preparing for technological shifts while ensuring opportunities for reskilling. Tune in for a dynamic discussion on how diverse knowledge drives AI innovation and the human challenges of technological change. There were reasons to be optimistic and reasons to be concerned after the first game of the Coach Kellen Moore era that resulted in a 20-13 loss for the New Orleans Saints to Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals. And what do we think of the play of quarterback Spencer Rattler? Host Jim Derry has his first “Derry's Dime” of the new season, and the Dat Family speaks their mind on another “Mano E Monday” edition of the Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 412) presented by Evangeline Securities. Jim also gets into social media experts ripping into tight end Juwan Johnson and the breaking news Monday morning that safety Julian Blackmon could be out for the season. On the LSU and Tulane front, both teams played what could be considered letdown performances in wins against inferior opponents, but they have little time to figure it out with tougher games this week against Florida and Duke, respectively. Gabe Henderson has his thoughts on the weekend, including what the Tigers must do to improve.

Here we are at the end of preseason and less than two weeks before the New Orleans Saints kickoff their 2025 season against the Arizona Cardinals, and we still don't know whether Tyler Shough or Spencer Rattler will be under center. However, while it might be the most important question for Coach Kellen Moore, it's certainly not the only one. What do Saints fans think? Jim Derry will find out on our weekly Mano E Monday edition of the Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 407) presented by Evangeline Securities. Jim has ‘Derry's Dimes' to offer his opinion (which hasn't changed much in four months). Also, Gabe Henderson is here to answer the most important question this week around here in college football: Are LSU and Tulane facing must wins in their openers this Saturday? How hot will Brian Kelly's seat get if the Tigers lose?
Think the Troubles were only Northern Ireland? Discover America's secret hand in the conflict. The Troubles are often remembered as a conflict confined to Northern Ireland and Britain — but that's a myth. In this episode of History Rage, host Paul Bavill is joined by journalist and Pulitzer Prize finalist Ali Watkins to uncover the overlooked role of Irish America in the conflict. Focusing on radical nationalist movements in Philadelphia, they explore how identity, violence, and diaspora politics shaped the fight far beyond Belfast and Derry.Episode HighlightsThe Philadelphia Five – Meet the five working-class men who became central to a clandestine gun-running operation for the Provisional IRA, challenging assumptions about who becomes a revolutionary.Irish American Identity – Ali reflects on her own family history and how diaspora communities engaged with — and sometimes enabled — the Troubles.Smuggling Guns Across the Atlantic – Discover the rudimentary but effective tactics used to move firearms from Philadelphia to Ireland, often under the noses of customs officials. The FBI Cracks Down – Learn how American law enforcement finally targeted these networks, leading to the collapse of the Philadelphia Five's operations.Legacy & Reflection – How should Irish America remember this hidden history, and what does it reveal about modern nationalism? This conversation challenges the idea that the Troubles were a “local” conflict and reveals the global networks — and moral complexities — that sustained it.

They just happen to combine to glorious effect in the classic slice of Daily Mail wet dreamery that is Who Dares Wins. Some other bits that pop up along the way include: Nissan Almera ads from the 90s The Bullshitters Chas n' Dave as protest rockers Be sure to check out Trystan Mitchell's work at The Bigfoot Studio

Our LOI family full of eccentrics is back this week, a little hoarse ten years on from a fine day involving a horse. Did Oasis hit the FAI Cup crowds? Did the Mrs. Browns Bohs fans at Oasis even know they were out of the FAI Cup? Is Liam Gallagher really just a poor man's Sean Malee? The lads butt heads on this and more before we hand the mic over to another forthright front man with Patrick Hoban dialling in to discuss the miserable end to his time at Derry and what the club needs to do to graduate from supporting act to headline artist. There's also a packed mailbag with Rory Gaffney love, the return of Dalymount doom, a five a side angle with a twist and at least one reference to Alphaville. May we stay Forever Young with the help of Rascals Brewing, Collar & Cuff, Sport Cosanta and Future Ticketing. Say it loud and sing it proud today.
The past couple years, Ireland has made a big name for itself for its big wave surfing spots. With beaches such as Mullaghmore, Aileens and Bundoran becoming increasingly popular.Al Mennie, a big wave surfer from Derry, plays a huge role in this, but recently he's taken up a different hobby…Al Mennie, author of ‘Night Swimming: How to Swim Through the Darkness' joins Seán to talk about night swimming, and what it entails…
Supposedly, the race between Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler continues, at least according to the New Orleans Saints and Coach Kellen Moore. Did anyone's opinion change after a 17-17 tie against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday at the Caesars Superdome? Saints fans had plenty to say, and Jim Derry let them roll on our weekly Mano E Monday edition of the Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 404) presented by Evangeline Securities. While Rattler threw the best AND worst passes of the day and led the team on a great 2-minute drive to tie the score, Shough just sort of did his thing. Jim has ‘Derry's Dimes' to offer his opinion, but he also talks some about what's more concerning: the play of the offensive line. Does the trade for Jags backup center Luke Fortner help? And has Kendre Miller wrapped up the RB2 job behind starter Alvin Kamara?

Is comfort helping you grow in Christ—or slowly weakening your faith? In this thought-provoking conversation, Ethan and Derry dive deep into what it really means to live a “comfortable” Christian life. We explore the nuance of the word comfort in Scripture and everyday life, breaking down when it's good—bringing peace, rest, and joy in Christ—and when it's dangerous, lulling believers into spiritual apathy. If you've ever wondered why some Christians lose their passion, or why trials often lead to stronger faith, this video will give you clarity and practical advice. We discuss how to recognize when comfort is holding you back, how to re-ignite your spiritual hunger, and what steps you can take to grow closer to God even in a culture that prizes ease and convenience.Perfect for new Christians, curious skeptics, and believers wanting a deeper walk with Jesus, this discussion will challenge you to examine your own heart and ask: Am I too comfortable to grow?Enjoy!Got any questions or topics you'd like to hear about? It's a two part show this week as Johnny and Dan kicks things off on location in Tolka Park, picking through the bones of a near miss for Shelbourne that sends them to the European last chance saloon. After the Shels wrap, we go back in time to Oliver Ireland for a catch-up with Conan Byrne that – amongst other things – touches on the pros and cons of punditry and coaching as he embraces a new football life. We also hear about his follow-up meeting with Patrick McEleney after THAT dive in Derry, a topical segue into a mailbag dominated by refereeing rage with a side of VAR that turned out to be a window into the very near future. Throw in another game of Bohs jersey watch, a bad Brandywell bet and an unexpected war on winking and it's another packed show with thanks to our never late and always great friends from Rascals Brewing, Collar & Cuff, Sport Cosanta and Future Ticketing. Hopefully this isn't a waste of your time..

We told you last week there were signs Tyler Shough is the leader in the New Orleans Saints race for QB1 over Spencer Rattler, and our opinion hasn't changed. One preseason loss to the Los Angeles Chargers did nothing to change that. But what do fans think? Host Jim Derry hears from the Dat Family on another Mano E Monday edition of the Dattitude Podcast (Ep. 401) presented by Evangeline Securities. Did they agree, and is anyone changing their opinion on ANYTHING after an exhibition game? Jim has ‘Derry's Dimes' and also talks about his concern at the injuries the Saints suffered Sunday, especially with Trevor Penning and Will Clapp on the offensive line. What does our neutral observer, Gabe Henderson, think? Is there a race at kicker between Blake Grupe and Charlie Smyth? And was the defense simply too vanilla to learn anything from?
