Episode 85 kicks off with Carl railing against the Winter Olympics being held in Italy -- not because he hates pasta or gondolas, but because the time difference and the internet have completely destroyed the magic. After the usual weekend riff, the crew runs through a packed News of the Week: The Mansfield Inn is officially emptied after the vacate order, a major roundabout project is coming to Lexington-Springmill and Home Roads and a gang-related case ends in a prison sentence. Then the show takes a sharp turn into the mysterious and fascinating: Carl and the guys sit down with Maddalena, a Mansfield mom of four and independent researcher/translator exploring ancient Greek biblical texts through a poetic, Hellenic lens. She walks through how she got into the work, what separates her approach from traditional biblical scholarship and what she believes gets lost across time, translation and power. It’s an open-minded deep dive into language, symbolism, myth, early Christianity and the kinds of interpretations that challenge what many people assume the text “has to mean.” This episode is powered by the great folks at Relax, It's Just Coffee. It suffered just as much as Ansalon when the Cataclysm struck, sundering the continent, sipping it into pieces and at its heart a vast burning sea. But it did not end life on the continent–instead it emboldened the people of Taladas to survive and thrive! Empires are not built by crowns or councils. They are built by those who stand when no one else will. Beyond the marble halls of Kristophan and the sun-drenched villas of Thera, the frontier of the League of Minotaurs stretches wide and vulnerable. The legions have marched away, drawn to distant borders and greater wars, leaving the province of High Vale exposed to old dangers long thought buried. Now the mountains stir. Goblins raid the roads. Ogres descend from the High Vale Range. Miners vanish. Caravans turn back—or never arrive at all. And at the heart of it stands Boremium, a once-prosperous village at the crossing of the Lenika River and the road from Jalum in the north to the Pathar Frontier to the east, holding fast with little more than stubborn hope. Yet hope has a way of calling to those who listen. Warriors hear of battles waiting to be fought. Wizards whisper of lost magic and forgotten ruins. Thieves smell opportunity where law has thinned. Priests feel the pull of suffering—and the chance to push back the dark. As dusk settles over High Vale, the Empire may be absent… —but heroes are not. And this is where their story begins. You find yourself in a crowded Inn in Boremium, it is dusk in early summer and the warmth of the day is slowly fading with the coming night…. About New Beginnings It is a continent of raw beauty and wondrous magics—of marauding hordes and avenging champions—it is Taladas, the forgotten continent of Krynn first revealed in the best-selling Dragonlance supplement Time of the Dragon. Now, this incredible setting is brought to life and made ready for adventuring with New Beginnings. This essential adventure provides all the information necessary for new players to begin adventuring in the Taladas campaign setting. New Beginnings includes a simple, step-by-step character creation outline which new players can use without the help of a Dungeon Master. Also, it presents essential tips on equipping and playing your new character in the Taladas setting, and sample encounters which allow your to test your characters skills without risking them in actual play. Finally, a complete mini-adventure helps to begin your Taladas campaign by thrusting the player characters right into the action.

Episode 84 is a jam-packed episode of the News Man Weekly, so bear with us. It opens with Carl unloading on Super Bowl season. From there, the crew riffs on a busy winter week, sports chaos, the latest show Carl is watching and we attempt to talk Curling. Then, it's the kind of headlines that make Mansfield feel like it’s permanently stuck between snow banks and construction cones -- a massive barn fire fought in subzero temperatures, skyrocketing fire truck costs squeezing city budgets and new momentum around a potential public pool. Then, we invite on the reporting team behind the soon-to-launch Delaware Source. They join the show to talk about covering one of Ohio's fastest-growing counties and what excites them most about reporting in a rapidly changing community. Finally, Richland County Commissioner Tony Vero and Wayfinder Executive Director Miles Parsons join us to talk about what's happening at the Mansfield Inn motel. The building has been deemed structurally deficient and unsafe and it must be vacated by Feb. 13. Vero and Parsons tell us what they found when they were on location last week and how they're racing to relocate residents and animals inside the building. We dig into what happens next and what it says about housing, accountability and crisis response in the area. This episode is powered by the great folks at Relax, It's Just Coffee. Behind every confident lawyer is someone who helped them find their footing. In the latest episode of Real Cases, we explore the mentorships—with deans, with professors, and with working attorneys—that help Stetson students navigate law school and launch meaningful careers. Professors Catherine Cameron and Assistant Deans Catherine B. Martin, Latoya Edwards, and Steve A. Maxwell join us to discuss what mentoring looks like at every stage of law school, from your transition into 1L year through bar prep and career planning. The conversation highlights Stetson's unique Inns program, our support for first-generation and non-traditional students, and how early guidance helps students gain real-world perspective before entering the profession.
Things are continuing to flourish in Queenstown. The mid-scale ‘Holiday Inn Express & Suites', which boasts 277 rooms in the City Centre, is being refurbished to become ‘voco Queenstown' – part of IHG's premium portfolio. The move targets high-end tourism, with the hotel running at around 90% occupancy for nine months of the year. Hotel Council Aotearoa Strategic Director James Doolan told Mike Hosking that it's normal to think about renovating and repositioning every seven to ten years, but upgrading to the next level is an encouraging sign. He says central government's increased investment in event attraction and destination marketing has allowed private businesses to invest in their assets. Our story tonight is called The Valentine in the Drawer, Part Two, and while it is connected to Part One, it is actually set long before the bit we heard last week. This is actually our first ever historical Nothing Much Story, something I had much too much fun with. If you manage to hear any of it, which I doubt, as you are already very sleepy, you'll notice it is full of village easter eggs and familiar locations. It's a story about a cold February morning, made bright and warm by an envelope slipped into a mailbox. It's also about fogged up windows on a streetcar, a kettle about to whistle, red roses and marbles, galoshes stepped into with haste, and a small drawer in a desk filled with love notes. In 1905, a troupe of traveling performers had just finished up a show in Gaffney, SC and looked for lodging before their train left town the next morning. The Inn that they chose to stay at was anything but hospitable. The scene played out like a real life "made for the stage" drama, rife with sexual harrassment, chivalry, a peeping tom, fistacuffs and finally murder.

In this episode of Groove with Portia, I open a heartfelt conversation about grief, memory, and embracing the inner child. Inspired by my own memories of watching Hocus Pocus with my mother, we begin by exploring how childhood moments can become anchors of comfort after loss.I'm joined by Karena, as we share our personal experiences of losing our mothers and navigating the transition period that follows. Karena reflects on the passing of her mother, Charlene, and how grief has shifted from something heavy into something that allows both remembrance and joy to coexist. We talk about granting ourselves permission to move forward while still honoring the love that remains. Our conversation expands into how grief and memory can live together without canceling each other out. We discuss staying connected to loved ones through dreams, intuition, family, and intentional practices that offer comfort and grounding. I also share a vivid dream involving my mother's voice and presence, and how those moments continue to guide me.We then explore the evolution of witchcraft, moving away from mystical ideas and toward a practice rooted in self-empowerment, daily intention, and nervous system regulation. Karena shares the inspiration behind The Witch's Inn, which was born from her mother's hospice room and her desire to create a warm, inviting space where women feel full permission to trust themselves. We close with a conversation about everyday magic, finding gratitude in small moments, and creating meaning after loss. Karena also shares details about upcoming Tarot Coven gatherings, Reiki sessions, workshops, and the Devoted Woman Collective, a program focused on nervous system regulation and intentional living. This episode is for anyone navigating grief, memory, inner child healing, and the courage to create meaning after loss.Connect with Karena: https://www.instagram.com/thatwitchkarena/
This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE!Standing just steps from the battlefield in Gettysburg, the The Historic Farnsworth House Inn remains a powerful reminder of the violence and sorrow tied to the Civil War. Built in 1810 and expanded in 1833, the home became a strategic refuge for Confederate sharpshooters during the Battle of Gettysburg, leaving its walls riddled with more than 100 bullet holes that remain visible today.Among the many tragedies associated with the battle is the death of Mary Virginia "Jennie" Wade, the only civilian killed during the fighting—an event some believe may be linked to gunfire originating from or near the house. After the battle, the Farnsworth House served as a makeshift hospital, adding another layer of suffering to its history. We explore the dark history and reported hauntings of the Farnsworth House Inn—a place where the echoes of war still seem to linger long after the guns fell silent.#TheGraveTalks #FarnsworthHouse #HauntedGettysburg #CivilWarHauntings #ParanormalPodcast #HistoricHauntings #GettysburgGhosts #HistoryandHaunting#ParanormalActivity #HauntingsLove real ghost stories? Steve Smith is a friend of mine. He runs Potter's Inn, which provides soul care. Much of Steve's time is spent with people running large organizations, from mega church pastors to Fortune 500 CEOs. People who as Steve says, live much of their lives in the white water of life. And living this way takes a toll on your soul. Years ago, I actually argued with Steve. I said I was living in a way to keep myself strong so I could endure the constant white water. And I did. Until I couldn't. Until I burnt out and caused plenty of collateral damage in my life. Recently Steve sent me a book of poetry he had written. He's published many books, but with poetry he feels he can say more with less. The book is called, Greening: Poems In The Unfolding Of Our Lives. And the focus is on unfolding through the seasons and reasons of our lives. Steve has walked intimately with so many people. Dramatically successful people as our culture tends to define success. But Steve walks with them as their lives unravel and their identities unfold. In recent years, Steve has had some losses and gone through his own unfolding. As my own life has unfolded, I brought Steve on to discuss some of the concepts of his poetry book, and his life experience. Greening is a term he relates to our flourishing, vitality, well-being, and emotional health. As a speaker, spiritual director, and author, Steve offers soul care and spiritual care through many avenues. This week I decided to go back and pick up this second set from the band's performance back on January 16, 1970 at Springer's Inn in Portland Oregon. This recording has some issues - especially during the first two numbers - the Cumberland Blues is cut both at the start and the end, and Me & My Uncle is cut at the start. I've included both out of a love of completeness and because they still sound great. Some highlights here include a wonderful 'Dire Wolf' - with an admonition from Jerry to sing along, a fine 'Uncle John's Band' and Pigpen's 'Easy Wind'. I think you'll enjoy the rest of this set as well, especiall if you are a fan of 'Anthem of the Sun'.. Why? Because tomorrow is Rory's first day at Chilton! Nothing can ruin this.Except… sleeping in.Rory wakes Lorelai up at 7:10, and they are up against it. The only clean thing Lorelai has to wear is her Dukes of Hazzard look—and she has to go inside and meet the headmaster. Naturally, it takes about two minutes for a dad to hit on her. When they finally make it to Headmaster Charleston's office, Emily is already there waiting. She insists Lorelai take off her jacket, and Lorelai immediately regrets it.Lorelai heads back to Stars Hollow, where everyone is shocked by what she wore to Rory's first day of school.Meanwhile, Rory's first day is off to a rocky start. The classes are hard, she's greeted very coldly by a girl named Paris, and she's aggressively hit on by a dude named Tristan.Back at the Inn, Lorelai is stunned to see the Chilton dad again—he's shown up to ask her out. She shuts it down immediately; dating a Chilton dad would be way too complicated. While trying to open her locker, Rory accidentally bumps into Paris, who's carrying a project for their next class. The teacher tells Rory she has to help Paris, but Paris flat-out refuses. Starting to think maybe Paris doesn't like Rory.Lorelai gets a call from her neighbor Babette saying someone is at her house installing internet. Lorelai did not order internet. Turns out Emily did. Lorelai tracks her down and tells her that paying for Rory's school does not give her the right to meddle. After school, Lorelai and Rory walk through Stars Hollow, and Lorelai asks Rory if she thinks Luke is cute. Rory says Lorelai can't date Luke because his food is too good—and a breakup would ruin everything. It's time for another Friday night dinner. Emily and Richard tell Rory she should join Richard at the club to golf. Lorelai is not thrilled that they blindsided Rory, because of course Rory wouldn't say no to her grandfather. Things start off awkward, but they end up having a really great time. Rory learns more about Richard, and Richard learns more about his granddaughter.Later, Lorelai is shocked to find out Rory actually had fun. To make matters worse, Richard calls Rory the next day. When Lorelai floats the idea of skipping Friday night dinner, Rory says she doesn't want to. Lorelai is clearly bothered by Rory growing closer to her grandparents and picks a fight over Rory borrowing her sweater without asking. They make up, and Lorelai explains that just because she doesn't have a good relationship with Richard and Emily doesn't mean Rory can't.When they arrive at Friday night dinner, Richard and Emily are thrilled to see Rory—once again making Lorelai feel left out.
