Bob Keebler interviews Professor Mitchell M. Gans and Jonathan G. Blattmachr on the subject of the U.S. Tax Court's decision in Estate of Trombetta v. Commissioner, T.C. Memo. 2013-234. In Trombetta, the Tax Court held that rental properties transferred to an annuity trust were required to be included in the transferor's gross estate because the transfers to the trust were not bona fide sales for adequate and full consideration, and the transferor retained during her lifetime an interest in the transferred properties.
