Whether it's starting a new hobby, a new podcast, a new THING, whatever it may be, let's work through it together and find reasons to start! After all, you never know where you might end up! It's been a while since I've done an episode, so please leave any feedback you like! Hi hi hi, welcome to another episode! Hope you're well :))) Today let's discuss fear's partner-in-crime - SLUMPS! It's hard to figure out why they happen, but we can take a little guess & suss out the best way to get out of them (which is what we do in today's episode as it just so happens!) Fresh from our own little slump, let's discuss why looking in on yourself and focussing on that tunnel vision can help you out more than you think (I don't know if the tunnel vision thing is an accurate phrase to use, I can't drive) This episode is a continuation of our 'Burnout' episode from 2020 - scroll back and have a listen to that if it takes your fancy! As always, don't forget to subscribe! For more, see @yessjesspodcast on Instagram, @YessJess on YouTube, and @yess.jessxoxo on Tiktok! Sending love, take care!
Oh my oh my, I wish there was a wizard that could make me brave!! Unfortunately, all you'll get today is me (hi). Today, instead of me telling you how to feel or how to think, let's just share our fears. We can't always control how we feel (and that sucks a lot of the time) but what we can do, is talk and listen and share. Dispensing advice is easy (kind of) but actually doing life, doing the work, pushing through the fear of the unknown/the future/daily life - now that's hard. So today, I just wanted to share more of what I'm working through, my thoughts on the fear of growing up & not being afraid of fear itself. A lot of rambling today, prepare your ears, but if you just needed a bit of comfort/wanted to feel like you're talking to a friend, this is the episode for you! P.S. we're not referring to anxiety/a recognised medical condition in this episode, definitely not qualified to talk about that and no advice given in this episode should be understood as relating to medical issues. Year 1 of law school was HARD. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and everything else that ends with -ally. But that doesn't mean we didn't pick up some lessons and general musings along the way. In this episode, Jess discusses the way law school has helped shape her self-confidence, attitude towards her intelligence & view of the world - as always, take what you want, leave what you don't! Hope you enjoy today's episode! For more, see @yess.jessxoxo on Tiktok (for all your kpop needs), @yessjesspodcast on Instagram (for podcast news), and YessJess on YouTube (for general life with Jess)! Subscribe so you don't miss anything! :) *p.s. In the section where Jess talks about good/bad people - we obviously mean this to an extent, we're not here to justify the big, omg kinda crimes ykno? Take care xoxo
Hiiiii welcome back to you, welcome back to me! Hope you're doing well, have you missed me? Jess took a break that was a litttleeee longer than intended, but we're so pleased to bring you back an episode all about what we've learned by being on hiatus. Taking a break can be a scary, guilty experience sometimes, but let's talk about the things you learn about yourself, your surroundings, and your future desires that come with time off. Special announcements at the end of the episode! For more, see @yessjesspodcast on Instagram, or @yess.jessxoxo on Tiktok! Don't forget to subscribe and we'll see you in the next episode! Love you byeeeee, Jess xoxo
On today's episode of Talk that Talk! I'm joined by Roa, a fellow podcaster and k-pop stan! Let's find out more about Roa's biases, her groups she supports and loves, and the mottos she lives by in life! We also deep dive and look at the Western resistance to K-pop music & look at the different constructs placed upon the different genders. We also couldn't go through an episode without mentioning powerful women we look up to such as Jessi, Hyuna, Chungha, and Hwasa, and the great things there doing, and we *manifest* some hopes for these icons! For more, follow @yessjesspodcast and @roa_podcast on Instagram. Hope you enjoy this episode!
Aquarius season is over, cry babes, let it all out that the most ICONIC season of the year is done. What are we supposed to do now? While there's no way for March to be anywhere as iconic as February, we can still manifest some stuff and that's exactly what we're gonna do! In today's episode, we review your positive moments from YOU the listener, look at February and the hot girl tiktok mindset we tried to manifest and think about what we want for March. We also acknowledge the emotional growth we might have had (even when we really didn't ask to grow or be tested on this) and praise ourselves a lil bit. Hope you enjoy this ep! Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and our Instagram @yessjesspodcast for more!
February's first episode deals with the sh*tey voice in the back of your head, the one that tells you you're not good enough, that you're not as smart as you think you are or that you're not going to be great. We talk about identifying what the voice sounds like in order to KILL IT and prevent it from coming back in the future. Growing up and glowing up means healing from past trauma and sometimes the things that affect us in ways we don't even realise (and most of us are so used to the little voice we don't even think about it twice when we accept the things it says as truth!) Hope you enjoy this episode, sending love and comfort to you all. For more, follow @yessjesspodcast on Instagram :)
Join Jess and Winnie, from the Voice Podcast (Voice of Immigrant Canadians), as they get to know each other behind the scenes of their podcast and discuss the issues of Asian beauty standards, stereotypes, pressures to conform and the role of kpop (if any!) on changing the beauty ideals they have felt. This was such a joy to record and edit! Check out @_thevoicepodcast and @yessjesspodcast on Instagram to see more! Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast so you can access episodes easier! This is definitely a good listen for all my POC out there! Sending love, stay safe and healthy! Jess xoxo
Welcome to the first episode of Check-in//Check-out!! We reflect on the month of January today, look at the goals we may (or may not have) achieved and take a look at some of the moments this week that made you, the listeners, happy! Jess also talks about loving her Asian eyes, good albums and bad bitch energy songs. We also manifest a hot tiktok mindset - don't know what that is? Make sure you listen to our episode to find out! Don't forget to follow us on Spotify and on Instagram (@yessjesspodcast) so you never miss an episode or exclusive content! Hope you enjoy :) Sending love, Jess xoxo
The first episode of our brand new format! We welcome in the New Year and talk about all the positive things happening to people right now! We delve into a discussion about the redemption arc, using TV's finest, Prince Zuko of Avatar fame, as our prime example. Anyone who's a fan of Avatar will enjoy this episode, and not only because we're raving about Nickelodeon's greatest creation for 30 minutes! (I said what I said) We're all allowed to have a redemption arc, we're allowed to live good lives, we just have to shift our thinking a little bit. Don't forget to hit follow on whatever podcasting platform you are listening from and follow us @yessjesspodcast on Instagram to see more behind the scenes, updates and to help create the very podcast you are listening to. Hope you enjoy this episode! Stay safe, stay healthy, stay hoping for tomorrow! Love, Jess xoxo
Very different, very calm vibes today as Jess reflects on 20 things she has learned this year, from small tips to shifting opinions. It's been exhausting, to say the least. Goodbye, 2020. Crossing our fingers and toes for a better successor. Love, Jess xo
This year has been so, so naughty so let's do something nice! I saw Stephen Colbert drink and do the Proust Questionnaire a few days ago, so I drank and did the Proust Questionnaire. In this episode, Jess answers questions like the quality she likes most in a man, when she needs to lie, what she dislikes the most & her greatest fears, among others! We recommend trying the questions yourself, it's a great little exercise of introspection and self-understanding! Hope you all have a happy holiday & the end of the year! Sending love and support. Rooting for you all always!! :)
In episode 2, we discuss the stereotypes and perceptions associated with hobbies related to our physical appearance, specifically skincare and its reputation for being associated with people who are shallow or frivolous. We also look at self-esteem, the science of skincare, which ingredients are Jess' faves, and why we should make conscious decisions, even if we only have 3 products in our skincare routine! Also featured is the charity SolidariTee, YouTube channel 'Psych2Go', and a new multi-lingual release from Angèle and Dua Lipa. A longer one today, whack it on in the background, learn through osmosis, and use it to fill the lockdown silence. Remember to stream the new BTS album on Nov. 20. For more info, see @yessjesspodcast on Instagram. Hope you enjoy this episode! It's a joy to share one of my favourite hobbies :)
Welcome to the first episode! We start the series off on a clean, new slate, and in order to do that, we'll be looking at our past mistakes and how they help us grow, and how we can forgive ourselves. In addition, get to know Jess and the podcast, and hear about her organisations, people, and things she's been loving recently! Featured in this episode are the Grassroots Law Project, BTS, and the Netflix series 'It's Okay To Not Be Okay.' New episodes every other Sunday starting November 1st 2020. For more, check out @yessjesspodcast on Instagram :) Hope you enjoy!
