We're back on Zoom this week Mae's was on Cape Cod with her family, Laura's dealing with hecklers, and Greg the cat just got professionally groomed (and immediately took a revenge dump). We cover everything from prison pregnancy “life hacks” to Lily Allen's overshare about a thousand-dude sex tape. Meanwhile, Elon Musk's AI bot Grok spirals into full-on extremism, spouting Nazi propaganda and sexually harassing its own CEO. Plus: a hotel handing out birth control at check-in, and a very unfortunate A24 movie we paid $19.99 to regret. Enjoy. You can watch the full episode on YouTube here.Make sure to check out Laura's Don't Tell Comedy Special and leave a comment telling her hair looks great.Follow us on Instagram @laurasogar and @mae_planert and follow the pod @doomscrolldiariespod

British celebrity Lily Allen is going mega viral after making some unhinged comments about abortion on a BBC podcast. I break it down in this episode of the Brad vs Everyone podcast. Plus, top Democrats make outlandish claims about the Big Beautiful Bill and claim it will kill 100,000 people -- we debunk this alarmist narrative. In the latest episode of ‘Call Her Daddy' Charlize Theron revels in being a single mom and brags about having sex with a 26-year-old. The episode has been viewed by nearly a million people so far, with reaction divided between those who celebrate Charlize as a strong woman fighting against the patriarchy - and others who see it as yet another example of modern feminist media denigrating the role of men. Meanwhile, over in the UK, Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver have made headlines after casually discussing having five abortions each in their ‘Miss Me?' podcast. Here to debate what these stories mean for gender roles in modern society is ‘The Crucible' host Andrew Wilson, host of ‘The Jedediah Bila Show' Jedediah Bila, publisher of UserMag newsletter Taylor Lorenz and author of ‘The Case For Cancel Culture' Ernest Owens. The Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced a full national statutory inquiry into child sexual abuse perpetrated by gangs after previously dismissing calls for a public inquiry. This comes after he said he has read every single word of an independent report into child exploitation by Baroness Louise Casey and would accept her recommendation for a full investigation. Nuala McGovern discusses what's been announced with BBC Special Correspondent Judith Moritz and Maggie Oliver, who resigned from Greater Manchester Police in 2012 to publicly speak out against what she recognised as gross failures to safeguard victims of the scandal in Rochdale. She has recently had meetings with Baroness Casey and has taken a group of survivors to share their experiences with her.The BBC and the Arts and Humanities Research Board have selected six academics to be this year's New Generation Thinkers on Radio 4 and Historical Criminologist Stephanie Brown will be joining Woman's Hour. She talks to Nuala about her research into crime, punishment and policing and how society views women criminals.Lily Allen recently admitted that she ranks her friends in a recent edition of the BBC podcast Miss Me? The singer joked: 'I create lists of people who I like in order of how much I like them… I send that list to my assistant and ask her to schedule the time for me to have FaceTimes with them.' But joking apart, is it simply human nature to make a distinction between close friends and acquaintances, and everyone in between? Columnist for the iPaper Rebecca Reid and cultural historian Tiffany Watt-Smith join Nuala to discuss.BBC journalist Sanchia Berg and fertility lawyer Beverley Addison joins Nuala to discuss the recent cases of older couples becoming parents via surrogacy.Iris Mwanza started out as a corporate lawyer in both her native Zambia and then in the US. She's also been Deputy Director in the Gender Equality Division of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. But she's gone back to her roots for her debut novel, The Lions' Den. Set in Zambia in the early 1990s, it follows Grace Zulu, a rookie lawyer, whose first pro bono case is to help the 17-year-old Willbess Mulenga. It's been alleged that Willbess, who prefers the name Bessy, had sex with another man and he's been arrested for offences ‘against nature.' Presenter: Nuala McGovern Producer: Emma Pearce

**Please hold. Giles and Esther will be with you shortly….[muzak]…Press 1 for the podcast. Press 2 for immediate death or press 3 to speak to a bot who will return you to the main menu…** If there really is no sound more joyful than that of children playing, no wonder the world is so miserable. It is a sound in short supply as children have retreated from playing outdoors to stay indoors on their tech. Former children's commissioner Baroness Anne Longfield has called for ‘no ball games' signs to be removed to get children playing outside again. The trouble is, if they go outside who is there to play with apart from a load of killer dogs and some bloodthirsty gangs? If kids can't play outside, can you take them to work? Well, best to check first in case you're turned away at the door as one lady was with her nine-month-old. Should she have been allowed in, or are some places just not meant to be child friendly?**A new apple app promises to deal with hold music for its users, but Esther doesn't want it.Finally, can you schedule your friends? Lily Allen 40, may do this (or she may just have a good sense of humour.) Either way she has given Giles an idea… Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 2ú lá de mí Bealtaine, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1975 d'éalaigh príosúnaigh as a phríosún ach ní raibh aon ádh acu ag Punchestown. I 1997 tháinig an nuacht amach go mbeadh méadú de 1% sna rátaí morgáiste de bharr go raibh méadú sna rátaí sna bainc. I 1975 tháinig Ambasadóir ón Astráil chuig an chontae I gcóir deireadh seachtain agus bhí siad sa tír ar feadh seachtain. I 1986 bhí níos mó daoine ag an Boirinn fiadhúlra siompóisiam an bhliain seo I gcomparáid leis an bhliain roimhe. Sin George Michael le A Different Corner – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 1986. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1981 chuaigh Sheena Easton chuig uimhir a haon I Meiriceá lena amhrán Morning Train (9 to 5). Bhí sí ann ar feadh dhá sheachtain agus d'athraigh sí an teideal den amhrán de bharr gur tháinig Dolly Parton amach leis a amhrán 9 to 5 sa bhliain chéanna. I 2006 tháinig Keith Richards ó The Rolling Stones amach as a ospidéal sa Nua-Shéalainn de bharr go bhfuair sé comhtholgadh beag nuair a thit sé amach as crann nuair a bhí sé I Fiji. Chuaigh sé chuig an ospidéal I héileacaptar agus fuair sé scanadh ar a inchinn. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh aisteoir Dwayne Johnson I Meiriceá I 1972 agus rugadh amhránaí Lily Allen sa Bhreatain ar an lá seo I 1985 agus seo chuid de a amhrán. Beidh mé ar ais libh an tseachtain seo chugainn le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo. Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 2nd of May, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh 1975: an escaped prisoners luck ran out at punchestown races yesterday. 1997: an increase of one percent in bank and mortgage rates was threatened last night after a shock rise in central bank rates. 1975: The australian ambassador, vincent c gair and mrs gair toured co.clare over the weekend in the course of a week long visit to west and south of ireland. 1986: The third burren wildlife symposium attracted more interest than in other previous years. That was George Michael with A Different Corner – the biggest song on this day in 1986. Onto music news on this day In 1981 Scottish singer Sheena Easton started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'Morning Train (9 to 5)'. The title of the song was changed to avoid any confusion with the Dolly Parton hit '9 to 5', in the same year. 2006 Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards was released from hospital in New Zealand after the 62 year-old suffered "mild concussion" when he fell out of a coconut tree while on holiday in Fiji. He was airlifted to Auckland's Ascot Hospital for observation, where he underwent a brain scan. And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – actor Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson was born in America in 1972 and singer Lily Allen was born in the UK on this day in 1983 and this is one of her songs. I'll be back with you next week with another edition of Ar An Lá Seo.
