"Give us each day our daily bread." (Luke 11:3)When Jesus is teaching His disciples how to talk to the Father, He has them start by acknowledging God as their Father and remembering His character, then confessing their commitment to advancing His kingdom, not their own. When we start out by acknowledging those things first, it helps us ask God for things open-handedly. God provides for the daily needs of His kids and even beyond that. Scripture says all good gifts come from God and He even tells His kids to ask him for things. How incredibly generous! But since we don't always know His plans, sometimes we might ask for things that don't honor His name or His kingdom. Fortunately, we can trust Him to wisely say no to any requests that aren't His absolute best for us. God shows us His love in His yes and in His no. He is where the joy is!

In this week’s Parashah Point on the Torah Portion Devarim, we review the traits and qualifications of what true leadership looks like according to Deuteronomy 1:13, 16-17. We also see how James echoes the same sentiments in James 3.  Not all are called to be leaders or teachers, and those who are will be held to a higher standard.

"The Tower of Babel and New Languages." That's the title of today's episode, which has Genesis 11:1-9 as its main text. In today's study, we look at this classic story of God confusing the languages of mankind and the resultant spreading out of the people. We also consider the classic evolutionary model proposed to explain the origin of language and how that model is falling into disfavor because of its inadequacies to account for the most recent conclusions.

Wilhelm Stenhammar studerade aldrig komposition, utom en kort tid för Andreas Hallén, utan förblev autodidakt. Hans lyhördhet gjorde honom ändå till en av de främsta kompositörerna i Sverige vid sekelskiftet 1800/1900. Från 1894 turnérade Stenhammar över hela Sverige tillsammans med Aulinska kvartetten. I början av 1900-talet började han ge egna soloaftnar, i huvudsak med Beethovens sonater. Stenhammar hoppades kunna ägna mer tid åt komposition, men pengarna tog slut och han accepterade anbudet att bli dirigent för Göteborgs orkesterförening 1907 där han blev i 15 år.
