Treating politics like religion, and vice versa, is why so many of us keep getting frustrated and disappointed, and why our societies are becoming weaker.
Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Our shout-out today goes to Scott Kacos and family. Thank you so much for partnering with us on Project23. We cannot do this without you. This is for you today. Our text today is Judges 18:7-10. Then the five men departed and came to Laish and saw the people who were there, how they lived in security, after the manner of the Sidonians, quiet and unsuspecting, lacking nothing that is in the earth and possessing wealth, and how they were far from the Sidonians and had no dealings with anyone. And when they came to their brothers at Zorah and Eshtaol, their brothers said to them, "What do you report?" They said, "Arise, and let us go up against them, for we have seen the land, and behold, it is very good. And will you do nothing? Do not be slow to go, to enter in and possess the land. As soon as you go, you will come to an unsuspecting people. The land is spacious, for God has given it into your hands, a place where there is no lack of anything that is in the earth."— Judges 18:7-10 The Danite scouts find Laish—a city that looks perfect. Peaceful. Prosperous. Secure. Everything their own land was not. And they instantly assume, "God has given it into our hands." But notice—there's no record of prayer, no word from the Lord, and no evidence of obedience in the moments leading up to this. They mistake opportunity for confirmation. They see abundance and assume it's God's blessing. But it's fake faith—faith built on feelings, not on truth. This is how counterfeit obedience works. It looks spiritual, it sounds hopeful, but it's driven by convenience and comfort, not conviction. Remember, the Danites didn't want to fight the Amorites for the land God gave them in Joshua 19. They wanted the easy win, and this was it. Easy victories frequently lead to empty lives. We do the same when we chase the "Laish" in front of us: The job that pays more but pulls us from church. The relationship that feels good but bends God's truth.| The comfort that whispers, "This has to be right, it's working." But not everything that looks right is righteous. Sometimes what looks like God's favor is just avoidance in disguise. When our faith loses its fight, it starts settling for false flags. And the Danites here traded commands for the convenient conquest—and then called it compliance. Real faith does not do this. It never chases comfort; it counts on God even when the command is challenging. ASK THIS: Where have you confused convenience with God's calling? What's your "Laish"—the easy path that tempts you to compromise? Have you been mistaking peace for permission? How can you return to the ground God actually called you to claim? DO THIS: Identify one area where comfort has replaced conviction. Choose faithfulness over feelings this week—even if it costs you ease. PRAY THIS: Lord, forgive me for chasing comfort and calling it faith. Teach me to obey You when the way is hard and to trust You when the road isn't easy. Give me real faith—not imitation peace. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Trust In God."

Send us your feedback — we're listeningHebrews 13:3 — Faith Under Fire: Prayer for the Persecuted Church, the Underground Church, the Hidden Church in North Korea, Somalia, Libya and Eritrea — “Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” 2 Corinthians 4:9 — “Persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” PRAYER Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, we come now into the shadows where our brothers and sisters worship in whispers. We lift before You the persecuted believers of North Korea, Somalia, Libya and Eritrea — nations where faith in Christ is treated as a crime, where gathering is dangerous, where Scripture is hidden, where worship is silent, where courage costs everything. Lord, strengthen the underground church. Strengthen those meeting in safe houses, forests, basements, cellars, prison cells, labour camps, and border zones. Strengthen the pastors who cannot preach openly, the evangelists who share Christ in secret, the families torn apart because of their faith. Strengthen those facing imprisonment, surveillance, confiscation, interrogations, threats and violence because they belong to Jesus. Holy Spirit, surround every persecuted believer with supernatural protection. Hide them under the shadow of the Almighty. Silence the footsteps of danger. Confuse the plans of hostile authorities. Sustain their faith when they feel forgotten. Remind them today they are NOT alone — the global church stands with them. Lord, let the gospel advance in impossible places. Let dreams and visions of Jesus break into prisons and military compounds. Let courage rise. Let hope ignite. Let endurance hold strong. From London to Lagos, from Toronto to Seoul, from Cape Town to Helsinki — we lift our persecuted family to the throne of grace. Jesus, be their shield, their strength, their song, their defender. Amen.SEVEN PRAYER POINTSProtection for persecuted believersStrength for underground churchesCourage under surveillance and threatHope for imprisoned ChristiansComfort for families torn by persecutionBoldness for secret evangelistsSpread of the gospel in restricted nationsLIFE APPLICATION Pray Hebrews 13:3 today. Join hosts Jeff Steadman and Jim McDonald for a special live episode recorded on location at Identiverse DC! In this interactive session, Jeff and Jim host a game of "Majority Rules," where the audience competes not to answer correctly, but to guess the most popular answer in the room. The game covers a wide range of topics, from the trivial (worst conference swag and the official uniform of an IAM architect) to the technical (securing API keys, the biggest bottlenecks in IGA, and the primary causes of role explosion).Things get intense halfway through with the introduction of the Battle Royale rules, where picking the minority answer sends a player's score back to zero. For latest in the saga between Sen. Mark Kelly and President Donald Trump, whether Arizona SNAP recipients could lose their benefits again and more, The Show sat down with Christina Corieri and Jeanne Woodbury.
Sen. Mark Kelly continues to speak out about U.S. military action, amidst calls for him to be punished over a video about it. Our Friday NewsCap panelists analyze that and the rest of the week's top stories. Plus, what scientists have learned from the ongoing oil leak on the USS Arizona.
Listen, we all have a lot of information coming at us and limited time to process it. Most days it feels like the world is set up to keep you confused, reactive, and chasing your tail. Between research, social media, “thought leaders,” news, and whatever's happening at work and home, it's easy to either shut down or grab at the loudest voice in the room. This episode is about pushing back on that. I walk through a clear framework you can use to make better sense of the information you already have, so you can stay centered, make sharper decisions, and avoid getting bogged down by bullshit. It's less about hoarding more content and more about training how you think, what you pay attention to, and how you use what you learn. In this episode, we get into: •How to decide what “job” a piece of information is supposed to do for you before you give it your attention •A simple relevance filter to separate what matters right now from what can wait—or be ignored •How to look at the source and the incentives behind the message so you're less likely to get played •A quick way to separate facts, interpretations, and emotions so you don't get swept up in spin •Turning something you read or hear into a clean, practical takeaway you can actually use •Getting comfortable with “I don't know yet” instead of grabbing the first confident-sounding answer •Testing new ideas through small actions instead of endless debate or overthinking If you want to go deeper and apply this in your own life and work: •Main site and resources: www.artofcoaching.com •Upcoming live events and seminars: www.artofcoaching.com/events •One-to-one mentoring and support: www.artofcoaching.com/mentoring Follow Us: Website: ArtofCoaching.com Instagram: @coach_brettb X: @coach_brettb

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Today's shout-out goes to George Truesdale from Cocoa Beach, FL. Your commitment through Project23 helps deliver God's Word daily with clarity and conviction. This one's for you. Our text today is Judges 14:19-20 And the Spirit of the Lord rushed upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon and struck down thirty men of the town and took their spoil and gave the garments to those who had told the riddle. In hot anger he went back to his father's house. And Samson's wife was given to his companion, who had been his best man. — Judges 14:19-20 Samson is furious. He's lost his bet, been manipulated by his wife, and humiliated in front of his enemies. In rage, he storms down to Ashkelon and kills thirty men to settle the score. And here's the shocking part—the Spirit of the Lord rushes upon him. This is where it gets tricky. God still used Samson's actions to confront Israel's enemies. But Samson's heart was in the wrong place—driven by anger, not obedience. He would confuse God's power with God's approval. Just because God uses you doesn't mean he approves of how you're living. This is a hard pill to swallow. A sermon can land even if the preacher's hiding sin. A business deal can succeed even if corners were cut. A gift can look fruitful while the heart is far from God. Power and results don't always equal God's pleasure. Samson's story warns us—God's calling is irrevocable, but his approval rests on obedience. His Spirit may still work, but sin always leaves wreckage. Samson was used by God, yet left broken, angry, and estranged. Don't mistake God's patience for permission or his power for a green light. What he wants most isn't just results—it's your heart. ASK THIS: Where have you been tempted to measure God's approval by your success? Is there an area of your life where you're "winning" but not obeying? What's one area you need to realign with God's will today? DO THIS: Identify one place in your life where results have blinded you to disobedience. Confess it to God in prayer. Commit one act of obedience this week that costs you something but honors God. PRAY THIS: Lord, thank You that You still work through weak and broken people like me. Keep me from confusing Your power with Your approval. Align my heart with Yours so that my life brings You pleasure, not just results. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Heart of Worship."
Strategy isn't a wishlist—it's a series of tough choices about where to play and how to win. In this episode, economist, entrepreneur, and Strategic Value Creation author Rupert Morrison joins Bill Banham to break down why so many organisations confuse goals with strategy, and how to build a simple, practical system that links strategy to plans, KPIs, and boardroom decisions.Rupert walks through the core steps: define your unique value factors, map the capabilities that power them, and capture the activity system on one page. Then make it real with a plan-on-a-page showing today's metrics, five-year targets, and the critical initiatives across customer, revenue, operations, finance, and people. We also cover how to test for defensible advantage—network effects, brand strength, cornered resources, process power—so your organisation is building something competitors can't easily copy. For leaders wrestling with reporting, Rupert explains why most board packs fail and introduces a clear “view from the bridge” approach: start with highlights, lowlights, key issues, and explicit recommendations, then support the narrative with data. He also lifts the lid on private equity portfolio reporting and how tracking against the investment thesis can sharpen focus in any organisation. If you want to turn ambition into a genuine advantage, this episode is for you! Women everywhere swear men have lied to them. But what if that's not what actually happened? In this episode, I'm breaking down the 10 statements men use most often that leave women overthinking, spiraling, or holding onto hope… and revealing the real meaning beneath them. Not the feminine interpretation. Not the emotional projection. The actual male coding behind the words. You'll learn why most men aren't lying to you at all—why the masculine recoils at deception—and why women still end up feeling blindsided, disappointed, or misled. The truth is simpler and more shocking: men speak in emotionally safe half-truths, and women fill in the blanks with meaning that was never there. If you've ever wondered, “Why did he say that?” or “What did he mean?” this episode will change the way you hear men forever. This isn't about blaming men or shaming women. It's about decoding the disconnect—so you finally stop confusing ambiguity for intimacy.

Corporatism vs. Capitalism: Analyzing Rent-Seeking and Regulatory Capture. Julia Cartwright discusses how younger generations often confuse corporatism (entangled government and business) with true capitalism. Rent-seeking involves businesses investing in politics for favors, like healthcare industry lobbying for subsidies. Rent extraction is when politicians threaten costly action to force business compliance (e.g., CAFE standards or tariffs). Solutions include sunsetting subsidies and banning sole-source government procurement. 1870

When leaders confuse role with identity, misalignment spreads — into teams, culture, and even families. Learn how recalibration breaks the cycle and frees everyone around you. When leaders confuse their role with their identity, the cost is bigger than they realize. Misalignment doesn't stay contained — it spreads. Teams inherit the anxiety of leaders, families mirror the pressure of parents, and cultures slowly fracture under the weight of confusion. This episode unpacks the concept of social contagion — how attitudes, behaviors, and emotions spread almost like a disease — and shows why your identity clarity is the key to cultural health. You'll hear:Why your nervous system broadcasts alignment (or misalignment) before you ever say a wordHow teams and families unconsciously “catch” anxiety, perfectionism, or pressureWhy culture decks, hacks, or consultants can't fix what identity misalignment breaksWhat Bob Dylan and Bono can teach us about leading from identity rather than rolePractical steps to stop the spread — whether you've been the one causing misalignment, or the one carrying its weightToday's Micro-Recalibration: Ask yourself: What confusion in me is my team — or my family — carrying? Write it down. Because what you model is what multiplies.Identity-Level Recalibration isn't about managing roles or polishing image — it's about separating who you are from what you do, so that everyone around you inherits freedom instead of pressure. If this episode gave you language you've been missing, please rate and review the show so more high-capacity humans can find it. Borderline personality disorder can be understood as the extreme version of codependency, where, at the core are adult adult children who have suffered from abandonment, rejection, abuse, neglect, and trauma. When an innocent child is unable, through no fault of their own, to connect with their primary caregiver, and especially when that caregiver is actually a source of pain, suffering and instability, the brain of that child is forced to live from the plane of survival. Due to default settings of the personality, brain and nervous system, for the one who has been denied a healthy attachment and who at the same time, also learned that they could not and should not trust the one caring for them, the inner world becomes trapped below the veil of consciousness, living in fear of the love the being so desperately craves. How Narcissistic Parents Contribute to Borderline Personality Development Children of narcissistic parents often grow up in environments marked by emotional unpredictability. One moment, the parent may be intrusive, critical, or controlling, and the next they may be cold, withdrawn, or dismissive. This creates a push-pull dynamic where the child never feels secure. Over time, this instability fragments the child's developing sense of self. Because their emotional needs are dismissed or punished, the child learns to fear abandonment while simultaneously fearing engulfment. They internalize the belief that love is unstable, unsafe, and conditional. As adults, this unresolved conflict can manifest as borderline traits: Intense fear of abandonment Unstable self-image Difficulty regulating emotions Stormy, chaotic relationships These symptoms are not “character flaws” but survival adaptations to a childhood where the parent's narcissism left no room for stable, secure attachment. How Narcissistic Parents Create Codependency While borderline traits stem from instability, codependency develops from self-abandonment. In a narcissistic home, children quickly learn that their parent's approval, affection, or even basic safety hinges on meeting the parent's emotional needs. The child becomes hypervigilant, scanning the parent for shifts in mood, anticipating outbursts, and adapting themselves to keep the peace. This conditioning teaches the child: “My needs don't matter.” “I must earn love by taking care of others.” “If I say no, I'll lose connection.” As adults, these children often: Over-function in relationships Prioritize others' needs above their own Struggle to set boundaries without guilt Confuse love with caretaking or control This is the essence of codependency: a pattern of chronic self-abandonment rooted in early survival strategies. ✅ Bottom line: Both borderline personality traits and codependency share the same root wound — a lack of secure, validating parental love. One path (borderline) reflects the inner chaos of unstable attachment, while the other (codependency) reflects the learned habit of self-erasure for connection. Both are survival strategies that can be unlearned through conscious healing, reparenting, and building self-trust. Ready to breakthrough these subconscious patterns?
