Borderline personality disorder can be understood as the extreme version of codependency, where, at the core are adult adult children who have suffered from abandonment, rejection, abuse, neglect, and trauma. When an innocent child is unable, through no fault of their own, to connect with their primary caregiver, and especially when that caregiver is actually a source of pain, suffering and instability, the brain of that child is forced to live from the plane of survival. Due to default settings of the personality, brain and nervous system, for the one who has been denied a healthy attachment and who at the same time, also learned that they could not and should not trust the one caring for them, the inner world becomes trapped below the veil of consciousness, living in fear of the love the being so desperately craves. How Narcissistic Parents Contribute to Borderline Personality Development Children of narcissistic parents often grow up in environments marked by emotional unpredictability. One moment, the parent may be intrusive, critical, or controlling, and the next they may be cold, withdrawn, or dismissive. This creates a push-pull dynamic where the child never feels secure. Over time, this instability fragments the child's developing sense of self. Because their emotional needs are dismissed or punished, the child learns to fear abandonment while simultaneously fearing engulfment. They internalize the belief that love is unstable, unsafe, and conditional. As adults, this unresolved conflict can manifest as borderline traits: Intense fear of abandonment Unstable self-image Difficulty regulating emotions Stormy, chaotic relationships These symptoms are not “character flaws” but survival adaptations to a childhood where the parent's narcissism left no room for stable, secure attachment. How Narcissistic Parents Create Codependency While borderline traits stem from instability, codependency develops from self-abandonment. In a narcissistic home, children quickly learn that their parent's approval, affection, or even basic safety hinges on meeting the parent's emotional needs. The child becomes hypervigilant, scanning the parent for shifts in mood, anticipating outbursts, and adapting themselves to keep the peace. This conditioning teaches the child: “My needs don't matter.” “I must earn love by taking care of others.” “If I say no, I'll lose connection.” As adults, these children often: Over-function in relationships Prioritize others' needs above their own Struggle to set boundaries without guilt Confuse love with caretaking or control This is the essence of codependency: a pattern of chronic self-abandonment rooted in early survival strategies. ✅ Bottom line: Both borderline personality traits and codependency share the same root wound — a lack of secure, validating parental love. One path (borderline) reflects the inner chaos of unstable attachment, while the other (codependency) reflects the learned habit of self-erasure for connection. Both are survival strategies that can be unlearned through conscious healing, reparenting, and building self-trust. Ready to breakthrough these subconscious patterns? Paul writes a letter to a young man that he pointed to Jesus and after accepting him as his Lord and Savior, Timothy joins Paul in his travels as he starts churches and visits the ones he had already established. The point of Paul writing this letter is because there are issues beginning to crop up with the Gentile church in Ephesus and Paul is going to leave Timothy in Ephesus to confront the issues. The transformation that Jesus makes in people when they dedicate their lives to him is amazing! Just look at the one who is writing this letter—Paul! He was so full of himself and who he thought he was until he met Jesus on the road to Damascus. Paul was completely changed from the inside out. He was given a new identity in Jesus and Jesus will do the same for you!

Bright Side is going to teach you a mathematical trick which requires no special preparation. This trick will confuse your math teacher and impress your friends. You're going to fall in love with math after this even if you haven't been a fan of it before. TIMESTAMPS The art of Math 0:58 The trick 2:13 The trick explained 5:46 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/... SUMMARY -Albert Einstein said that “Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.” In Math, 2 plus 2 always equals 4. Or does it? -Be amazed as you see magic happening in front of you. You'll see how a number picked at random turns into a number previously saved in a secret folder. -Pick any five-digit number. You take your secret five-digit number and lose the first digit, then add 2 to the last digit. Now ask one of your friends or even your teacher to give you any number. Next, your task is to name a number, which will give 9999 if you add it to the previous number. Then, again, it is your friends' turn to pick the four digits. Once again, you name the next number. Remember it has to give us 9999 in the end. Now let us put all the numbers together. There you go – we've got the number it all started with. Knowing the difference between right and left is crucial for various daily activities like driving and navigation. While most of us take this skill for granted, a significant portion of the population faces challenges with it. A study published in 2020 in the Journal of Experimental Psychology estimated that one in six adults struggles to distinguish their right from their left. Of course, if you turn the wrong way when out in the street, it can be a minor inconvenience. You might get lost, or turn up late for an appointment for example. But in some cases, confusing left and right can be a matter of life and death. It might sound unlikely, but all too many times, surgery has been carried out on the wrong side of a patient's body due to human error, with tragic consequences. And back in 2010 it emerged that the sinking of the Titanic may have actually been caused by a left-right steering error. So, how does this actually work? Now, why is this such a challenge? The church at Thessalonica has another concern about the return of Jesus so Paul writes a second letter to help them understand but in this letter, he causes confusion for us today! How? Because of what he says to them about the man of lawlessness and him being revealed some day; how this man will even sit in the temple of God! How can this happen when the Temple was destroyed by the Romans in AD 70 and no longer exists?!?! Did we miss the return of Jesus? Who is this man that will one day be revealed? Who will he deceive? We answer all of this in this podcast...

Eternal salvation unfolds in three tenses. Phase one is justification—past tense. That's the moment you trusted in Jesus Christ as your Savior. You were saved from the penalty of sin (John 3:16; Rom 5:1; 8:1). It's instantaneous, permanent, and entirely by grace through faith (Eph 2:8-9). Eternal life is a free gift from God (Rom 6:23). You didn't earn it (Rom 4:5), you don't maintain it (Gal 2:16), and you can't lose it (John 10:28-29; Eph 1:13-14; 1 John 5:11-13). Phase two is sanctification—present tense. It's the daily battle: learning doctrine (1 Pet 2:2), renewing the mind (Rom 12:2), being filled with the Spirit (Eph 5:18), walking by the Spirit (Gal 5:16), walking by faith (2 Cor 5:7; Heb 10:38), and saying “no” to the flesh (Rom 13:14). It's not about staying saved—you're already secure. It's about growing up spiritually and living like a child of God (1 Pet 2:2; Eph 4:1). Rewards are at stake (1 Cor 3:12-15). Fellowship is on the line (1 John 1:6). Phase three is glorification—future tense. It's the finish line. No more sin nature. No more death. You get a resurrection body, custom-fit for eternity (1 Cor 15:53; Phil 3:20-21). Face-to-face with Christ. No struggle, no failure—just perfect conformity to His image forever (1 John 3:2, 5). That's your guaranteed future. All three phases are part of God's gracious plan, but they must be kept distinct. Confuse them, and you'll either fall into legalism or question your salvation. Get them clear, and you'll live with confidence, freedom, and focus. Living the Sanctified Life – Phase Two Eternal salvation is just the beginning. Phase one secures our position in Christ; phase two deals with our condition—how we live. That's sanctification. It kicks off the moment you're saved and continues until the Rapture or your last breath. This phase is about spiritual growth, transformation, and learning to think like Christ (Rom 12:2; 1 Cor 2:16; Phil 2:5; 2 Pet 3:18). God gives the assets: the indwelling Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19), the Word of God (2 Tim 3:16; 1 Pet 2:2), a new nature (2 Cor 5:17), and spiritual gifts (1 Pet 4:10). But unlike phase one (where God does all the work), phase two is a team effort. It's synergistic. God supplies the knowledge and power; we bring the positive volition. We either walk by the Spirit—or we don't (Eph 5:18; Gal 5:16). Discipleship is the practical outworking of phase two. It's healthy Christian living. But don't confuse it with salvation. Salvation is free, but discipleship is costly. Faith alone in Christ alone saves (John 3:16; Rom 3:28; 4:5; Gal 2:16). But faithfulness? That's the road of the disciple. That road is paved with learning (1 Pet 2:2), obedience (Jam 1:22), denial of self (Luke 9:23), and fruit-bearing to the glory of God (John 15:8). It's not about earning salvation—it's about living like someone who already has it. It's about learning “to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called” (Eph 4:1). To follow Christ is to align your mind, values, priorities, and choices with His (Rom 12:1-2; Phil 2:5). It's a daily grind. It is repeatedly saying “yes” to the Lord and “no” to your flesh. And yes—it's going to cost you. Relationships may strain, comfort may vanish, opposition will come (Luke 14:26-33). But the payout? Eternal rewards (1 Cor 3:12-15; 2 Cor 4:17). Discipleship is no cakewalk—but it's worth every step. Spiritual growth depends on spiritual nutrition. Feed the new nature or starve it. It's that simple. We grow through the Word (1 Pet 2:2), apply it by faith (Jam 1:22), and stay filled with the Spirit (Eph 5:18; Gal 5:25). Fail to do that, and you'll stay a spiritual baby—saved but stunted, secure but stuck (Heb 5:11-14). Discipleship is moment-by-moment decisions—choosing divine viewpoint over human viewpoint, maturity over mediocrity, truth over trends. It requires humility, commitment, courage, and discipline to stay the course. Rewards? Those are tied to phase two, not phase one. Salvation is a free gift, but rewards are earned. At the Judgment Seat of Christ (2 Cor 5:10; Rom 14:10-12), we won't be judged for our sins—they were judged at the Cross. We'll be evaluated for our service to the Lord. Did we build with gold, silver, and precious stones—or wood, hay, and straw? (1 Cor 3:12-15). Every believer stands on the unshakable foundation of Christ. But what you build on it determines reward, honor, and future rulership (Luke 19:17-19; Rev 2:26-27). It's important to understand that failure in phase two doesn't cancel phase one. Carnal believers are still believers. Eternal security is a reality of grace. Lot was called righteous (2 Pet 2:7-8), yet his life was a moral disaster. The Corinthians were saints—positional saints—yet they were fleshly and divisive (1 Cor 1:2; 3:1-3). Demas bailed out, but that doesn't mean he burned out of salvation (2 Tim 4:10). Eternal life isn't fragile. But loss of fellowship, reward, and testimony? That's real. The Christian who fails to follow the Lord's directive to advance spiritually will face divine discipline in time (1 Cor 11:30-32; Heb 12:6), suffer the loss of testimony (1 Cor 3:1-3), reap the consequences of his own bad choices (Gal 6:7-8), forfeit eternal rewards (1 Cor 3:14-15), and be classified as least in the kingdom of heaven (Matt 5:19). Bottom line? Phase two is where the battle is fought. It's the grind, the test, the place where spiritual momentum is made—or missed. Phase one determines where you'll spend eternity. Phase two determines how. Some will receive greater rewards, honors, and possibly positions of responsibility in Christ's coming kingdom (Luke 19:17; Rev 2:26-27). And though the carnal Christian “will suffer loss [of reward]; he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire” (1 Cor 3:15). Our present choices echo into eternity. And glorification? That's phase three—the final phase. It's guaranteed (John 3:16; Rom 8:1). God finishes what He starts (Rom 8:30; Phil 1:6). Every believer will be conformed to Christ, resurrected in glory, and ushered into a sinless, eternal state forever (1 Cor 15:53; 1 John 3:2). God's calling is high, holy, and worth it. So live worthy of it (Eph 4:1). Pursue maturity (Heb 6:1). Avoid legalism. Press on (Phil 3:14). You've been saved freely—now live powerfully. The Cross is your foundation. Discipleship is how you build. Dr. Steven R. Cook -
Snack food maker Mondelez International is suing the Aldi supermarket chain, alleging the packaging for Aldi's store-brand cookies and crackers "blatantly copies" Mondelez products like Chips Ahoy, Wheat Thins and Oreos. In a federal lawsuit filed in Illinois, Chicago-based Mondelez said Aldi's packaging was "likely to deceive and confuse customers" and threatened to irreparably harm Mondelez and its brands. The company is seeking monetary damages and a court order that would stop Aldi from selling products that infringe on its trademarks. Aldi didn't respond to messages seeking comment. The U.S. branch of Aldi, which is based in Batavia, Illinois, was named in the lawsuit. In the lawsuit, Mondelez displayed side-by-side photos of multiple products. Aldi's Thin Wheat crackers, for example, come in a gold box very similar to Mondelez's Wheat Thins. Aldi's chocolate sandwich cookies and Oreos both have blue packaging. The supermarket's Golden Round crackers and Mondelez's Ritz crackers are packaged in red boxes. Aldi, which was founded in Germany, keeps prices low by primarily selling products under its own labels. It's one of the fastest-growing grocery chains in the U.S., with more than 2,500 stores in 39 states. The company announced that its current chief operating officer, Atty McGrath, would become Aldi's U.S. CEO on September 1. The chain has faced lawsuits over its packaging before. Last year, an Australian court found that Aldi infringed on the copyright of Baby Bellies snack puffs for young children. In that case, Aldi's packaging featured a cartoon owl and similar colors to the name-brand packaging. Earlier this year, a U.K. appeals court ruled in favor of Thatchers, a cider company, which sued Aldi over design similarities in the packaging of its lemon cider. Mondelez said in its lawsuit that the company had contacted Aldi on numerous occasions about "confusingly similar packaging." Mondelez said Aldi discontinued or changed the packaging on some items but continued to sell others. The lawsuit also alleges that Aldi infringed on Mondelez's trade dress rights for the packaging of Nutter Butter and Nilla Wafers cookies, and its Premium cracker brand. During the second week of Blackest History Month, we continue to seek insights from Carter G. Woodson to fuel the momentum of historical memory as a device for breaking through the noise, distraction, and disruption of contemporary events.Neely Fuller Jr. (1929-2025), an early proponent of what has been labeled “Anti-Racist” thinking, contended in 1971 that “If you do not understand White Supremacy (Racism)—what it is and how it works—everything else that you understand will only confuse you.” He, Woodson, and countless others' lives and thoughts should help us develop our best thinking on Governance by forming a fortifying genealogy in the face of serially hostile Social Structure activity. This includes strategies like the so-called “Bannon Strategy” currently at work in the US federal government—a barrage of manufactured crises designed to seize control of political and economic levers of power.Through all of this, the need for focus and deliberate action in the face of systemic distraction must be emphasized. A question emerges: How do we break from a punishing cycle of serial reaction, understanding how to use the interplay between study and practice? Most people get fired up about problems without ever asking if what they are looking at is actually the problem or just a symptom of something deeper. It is easier to get mad at what is visible than to trace it back to the cause. But if you are always treating symptoms, all you are really doing is staying sick in a slightly more comfortable way. In this episode, I walk through three examples that almost everyone is familiar with. Healthcare, college, and housing. These are not the only places this shows up, they are just easy to see. In this week's episode, Kacy and Tyler discuss the lies we tell ourselves (us too!) and how we sometimes sabotage ourselves by calling bad decisions "self care".
In this episode, Buzz, Pye, and Scot engage in a lively discussion about the Democratic Party's challenges in connecting with male voters, particularly men of color. They explore cultural perceptions of men in politics, the importance of genuine conversations across political lines, and the economic implications of current fiscal policies. The conversation highlights the need for political parties to listen to and engage with their constituents rather than relying on superficial strategies. In this conversation, the speakers discuss various political issues, focusing on the importance of effective communication in politics, concerns about taxation and spending, the controversial practice of civil asset forfeiture, and the dynamics within the Republican Party in Georgia. They highlight the need for reform and the challenges faced by politicians in addressing these issues, particularly in relation to public trust and law enforcement. Takeaways The Democratic Party is struggling to connect with male voters, especially men of color. Cultural perceptions of men in politics often undermine their aspirations and needs. Political parties need to engage in genuine conversations with constituents. Superficial strategies will not effectively attract voters; authenticity is key. Economic concerns are becoming increasingly important in political discussions. The current fiscal policies may lead to significant debt issues in the future. Men are often portrayed in a negative light in political messaging. There is a need for sustained dialogue to understand diverse communities. The Republican Party is also facing challenges in presenting itself as the party of the working class. Engaging with voters requires listening rather than talking at them. Thomas Massey is a key figure in conservative politics today. The recent tax bill has significant implications for future spending. Civil asset forfeiture raises serious ethical concerns. Political communication is crucial for voter engagement. The relationship between law enforcement and communities needs improvement. Georgia's political landscape is complex and evolving. Reform efforts are often met with resistance from established interests. Public trust in government is at an all-time low. The GOP faces internal challenges that could impact its future. Engagement in local politics is essential for meaningful change. Unlocking Private Market Potential: Key Insights from Jim Dowd of North Capital Jim Dowd, CEO of North Capital, brings four decades of experience across the sell-side and buy-side to my discussion with him on a topic top of mind for commercial real estate sponsors and investors: how to navigate a rapidly shifting capital landscape where regulation, liquidity, investor behavior, and macro volatility collide. Here are the key insights from our conversation – designed specifically to you make better, more informed investment decisions in today's market. 1. Private Markets Are Growing — But Liquidity is the Blind Spot Jim sees a long-term, secular shift from public to private markets. This trend has been driven by: Rising regulatory costs of public capital raises Falling costs and barriers to entry in private placements Broader investor access due to reduced minimums (from $250K+ to $10K–$20K) But here's the warning: private securities still lack liquidity. Investors participating in these syndicated deals should recognize that they are locked in, sometimes for years, with no clear exit. “It's like three guys trying to run through a door at the same time – when everyone wants out, they can't.” Solution: Jim's firm has built an Alternative Trading System (ATS) to create secondary markets for private securities, a concept CRE sponsors might want to look at. While not yet equivalent to public exchanges, these platforms offer an emerging way to address investor liquidity concerns and could give forward-thinking sponsors a competitive edge. 2. Don't Be Fooled by the Illusion of Diversification Many sponsors pitch private equity real estate as an uncorrelated asset class, perfect for diversifying out of stocks and bonds. Dowd challenges this narrative. “In a crisis, all risk assets tend to correlate. The illusion of diversification is mostly due to slow re-pricing in private markets.” Takeaway: Sponsors should be transparent with LPs. While real estate is a solid long-term asset, it's not immune to systemic shocks. Treating it as a diversification tool must come with proper liquidity and risk disclosures. 3. Risk Has Moved From Banks to Private Markets Jim argues that the risk which once destabilized the banking sector during the GFC has now migrated to private markets. The positive spin: these markets are mostly backed by equity, not federally insured deposits, reducing systemic risk. Investors (LPs) should understand that the margin for error in private real estate has shrunk. Mispricing risk in this environment is more likely to catch up with you, especially in a rising rate context. 4. The 10-Year Treasury: The Most Important Metric in CRE Jim highlights the 10-year Treasury yield as the single most important signal CRE sponsors should track. Why? “A 6% cap rate in a 2% Treasury environment is fundamentally different than the same cap rate in a 4.5% Treasury world. That delta blows up every underwriting model.” Cap rate spreads are compressing. And yet, many sponsors haven't recalibrated assumptions. Jim's advice: treat macro indicators like interest rates and liquidity conditions as core components of your investment thesis, not just afterthoughts. 5. Investor Behavior Has Changed: Active Risk is Now in Private Markets Jim sees a structural shift in how investors approach risk: Liquid portfolios (ETFs, mutual funds) are increasingly passive and macro-driven. Private investments, including real estate, are now where most investors take active risk. For sponsors, this has profound implications: Investor trust and manager selection matter more than ever. Sponsors must demonstrate operational excellence and a clear, differentiated strategy. Geographic proximity still matters. Many large managers raise capital locally. Relationships built within a 100-mile radius still drive much of the private capital flow. 6. On Crypto and Tokenization: Don't Confuse the Two North Capital does not allocate to crypto but Jim is bullish on blockchain infrastructure for private markets, especially tokenization. “Blockchain could enable scalable, transparent, and low-cost transactions for private securities – if regulators allow it.” Tokenization may hold long-term promise for CRE sponsors looking to expand liquidity, access global investors, and reduce friction. But the infrastructure and regulatory frameworks are still evolving. 7. Investor Advice: Time in the Market Beats Timing the Market Jim's advice to investors (including his own son) is simple: don't try to time the market. Instead: Keep short-term money in treasuries or cash equivalents Deploy long-term capital systematically over a 3–12 month window Accept volatility as the price of long-term outperformance For sponsors, this means messaging matters. Emphasize long-term fundamentals over short-term fear. Help investors contextualize volatility and maintain confidence in your strategy. 8. Watch for These Signals: What Could Change the Outlook Jim tracks two key macro indicators to signal inflection points: The 10-Year Treasury yield (as mentioned above) Capital flows in public markets – a pullback here could foreshadow slower fundraising in private markets. Beyond markets, two external shocks could force sponsors to reevaluate assumptions: A geopolitical crisis (India–Pakistan tensions, Middle East escalation, Ukraine/Russia fallout) A surprise inflation spike, particularly driven by tariffs, energy, or trade policy shocks Investors need to ask: “Can my portfolio withstand a 30–40% drawdown without breaking my long term plans?” If the answer is no, you have too much exposure to risk and should dial back. Final Takeaway for CRE Sponsors Jim Dowd's insights are a timely reminder that capital formation in private real estate markets is entering a new phase – defined by rising macro uncertainty, evolving liquidity expectations, and heightened investor scrutiny. Sponsors who embrace transparency, align offerings with institutional risk frameworks, and prepare for greater regulatory and market sophistication will be best positioned to lead, and raise, in this new environment. *** In this series, I cut through the noise to examine how shifting macroeconomic forces and rising geopolitical risk are reshaping real estate investing. Categorizing things is central to science. And there are dozens of systems scientists have created to name everything from the trenches on the sea bed to the stars in the sky.But names have consequences. What's in a name is a series exploring naming in science and how names impact the world. We look at whether the system of naming species remains in step with society, how the names of diseases can create stigma, and how the names chosen by scientists can help, or hinder, communication with the public. In episode three, we're looking at how the names chosen for concepts in physics can inadvertently send researchers down very specific research avenues while distracting them from others. In this podcast we hear five stories about the importance of names and how much can be lost in translation when physicists try and label the unknown. For a list of sources and music used, please visit the podcast show notes Hosted on Acast.
