Cosmic destiny or narrative shortcut? Dom Bettinelli, Fr. Jason Tyler, and Jimmy Akin test the SNW S3 finale's bold claims—Batel's fate, Vezda stakes, and a Kirk–Spock mind meld that sparks big questions. Are godlike foes killing drama?
They finally told an original story, maman -- or they started to before they were "inspired" by an episode of The Next Generation and did that instead. Alright, fine. Korby finds Gamble at a doorway to the Vezda prison and the Enterprise goes to rescue him. This is a trap to lure out M'Benga, as he and Gamble need to be together to open the doorway. The crew learn that the unique combination of DNA inside Batel matches the biology of the Beholder statue that guards the prison. To open the doorway without M'Benga and Gamble, the crew devise a plan to simultaneously fire on it from the Enterprise and the Farragut; Spock performs a mind meld with James Kirk so the two can perfectly sync their actions. Pike and Batel enter the prison and confront Gamble, who destroys the Beholder and frees the other Vezda. Using her emerging power, Batel creates an illusion in which she and Pike live a full and happy life together. She then traps all the Vezda in the prison and becomes the Beholder. Pike struggles to move on without Batel as the Enterprise sets out to explore uncharted planets.Trekcast: The Galaxy's Most Unpredictable Star Trek Podcast!Welcome to Trekcast, the galaxy's most unpredictable Star Trek podcast! One Year Bible Podcast: Join Hunter and Heather Barnes on 'The Daily Radio Bible' for a daily 20-minute spiritual journey. Engage with scripture readings, heartfelt devotionals, and collective prayers that draw you into the heart of God's love. Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible, where together we journey through the pages of Scripture. In today's episode, host Hunter invites us to reflect on September 14th's readings from Ezekiel 36–37, Psalm 110, and Revelation 19. As we listen, we are drawn into vivid images of restoration, hope, and the powerful promises of God—a valley of dry bones brought back to life, a unified people, and a vision of the one who is the Resurrection and the Life. Hunter reminds us that, even in times of adversity and doubt, God's purpose remains: to reveal His true nature as a loving and powerful King who brings life where there was once only death and despair. Through prayer and thoughtful reflection, this episode encourages us to see ourselves and our world through God's eyes—understanding that what He offers us in Christ is a gift of new life, hope, and joy, not because we earned it, but because of His immeasurable love. Settle in as we draw encouragement from Scripture, join in heartfelt prayers, and remember together that we are deeply loved by God. TODAY'S DEVOTION: TODAY'S DEVOTION: People have the wrong impression about God. And God is going to correct that. When people see the suffering and hardship of God's people, they have the mistaken impression that God isn't good or that he's not powerful enough to help them when they really need it. They're wrong about that. They have the wrong impression. But God's going to help us all see, like he helped Ezekiel see. It's a vision in a valley of dry, dismembered, dead, lifeless bones, skeletons littering the valley. God desires to correct our wrong impression by impressing us with this amazing vision. For at his word, God resurrects these bones into living, breathing bodies. He restores them to life. And God is clear that it's not because they deserve it, but because he wants them and us to have the right impression of him. He wants us and the whole world to know what he's truly like. He's like David, Ezekiel tells us, a good shepherd and a loving and powerful king. But he's far better than David. It's important that we have the right impression. He is the one who was raised from the dead. He is the one who offers all of us dead, lifeless people resurrection, life. When we look at him, we get the right impression. We understand fully what God is truly like. We see what God is offering us through his Son. He offers us life, hope, joy, love—the life we've always wanted, a life we didn't earn, but one that we have received. This is what can happen if we get the right impression. May God impress you today with who he is and who you have become. He is the resurrection and the life, and this is what he has done. He has resurrected and given life to the dead. First Corinthians 15 says, "For as in Adam, all die, even so, in Christ all shall be made alive." God has breathed life into the sons and daughters of Adam. This is God's vision. This is what God was up to in Christ. This is what he has finished and completed. This is the impression God wants us to see and understand. And it's all a gift from the God of love. May God open our eyes to see him, what he's done, and what we have become. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. Continuing in Ephesians, Pastor Benny unpacks Paul's prayer in 1:15–23. Paul gives thanks for the Ephesians' faith and love, then prays that they would know God more deeply, grow in spiritual wisdom, discover their calling, and walk in the power of Christ's resurrection. This prayer frames the four steps of our spiritual journey: Know God, Grow Together, Discover Purpose, and Make a Difference.

Join Us for Worship: Sundays at 9:00 AM & 11:00 AM https://www.flourishinggrace.org/plan-your-visit In this message, Pastor Benjer McVeigh draws an unforgettable connection between the 19th century physician Ignaz Semmelweis and the life-giving simplicity of the gospel. Semmelweis discovered that something as simple as washing hands drastically reduced mortality rates among mothers giving birth. Yet his peers rejected him, unwilling to admit the problem lay with their own practices. The truth was simple and effective, but it required humility to accept. In the same way, the good news of Jesus Christ is not complicated. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5 that in Christ we are made new creations. Jesus took upon Himself our sin so that we might become the righteousness of God. This is not something we achieve through our own effort, wisdom, or strategies. It is not about our credentials, rituals, or personal performance. Just as the doctors of Semmelweis's day could not save their patients by their own flawed methods, we cannot save ourselves through our own strength. The problem is within us, and the solution is found outside of us—through Jesus. Benjer reminds us that while our culture often insists that life can be fixed through self-help, techniques, or relentless striving, the gospel declares something radically different. All this is from God. It is His initiative, His grace, His gift. Jesus died so that you might live, not because of anything you have done, but because of what He has already accomplished. Paul himself knew this truth deeply. Once a fierce persecutor of Christians, Paul encountered the risen Christ and was transformed from an enemy of the gospel to its greatest messenger. His story reminds us that no one is beyond the reach of God's grace. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, the new has come.” That promise is for all, no matter your past, no matter your brokenness. This sermon challenges us not only to recognize our need but also to embrace our new identity in Christ. Through Him, you are reconciled to God, restored to relationship with your Creator, and given a purpose as His ambassador. The moment you receive Jesus, you are not only forgiven but also entrusted with sharing the message of reconciliation with others. The invitation is simple: do not receive the grace of God in vain. To hear the truth and reject it is to miss the gift that brings true life. To accept it is to step into forgiveness, freedom, and purpose. Today can be the day when you cross from death to life, not because of your own worthiness but because of the righteousness of Jesus given to you. God's grace is not flashy, nor is it complicated. It is a gift freely offered, but it requires humility to admit that the problem is in us and the solution is only in Christ. Just as Semmelweis's discovery saved lives when doctors finally accepted it, the gospel saves when we receive Jesus by faith. Will you admit your need, lay down your efforts, and receive the life Jesus freely gives?
