Another Round #29 - 2016 End Of Year by Another Round Podcast
12-31-2017 Seko VArner & Tessa do the annual "Kwanzaa talk" at the Unitarian Church of Norfolk's Kwanzaa church service. Seko begins and ends his talk with a jokes regarding "recently unearthed and forgotten Kwanzaa Principles" based on researchers from the Another Round Podcast. This podcast, Another Round ( @anotherround ) features @heavenrants & @brokeymcpoverty and their 2017 Kwanzaa Spectacular was source information for Seko's jokes. The Unitarian Church of Norfolk is an Unitarian Universalist church. In 1968 the (predominately Caucasian in membership) Unitarian Universalist church provided grant monies to organizations that supported empowerment for "Blacks" in America. Dr. Maulana Ron Karenga, Kwanzaa's main founder, received some of the money needed to develop and publicize Kwanzaa through a Unitarian Universalist fund set up to support black empowerment. Drawing from traditional West African harvest celebrations Kwanzaa was to strengthen the community, nurture people's positive African-American identity, and inspire wider pan-African solidarity. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/get-on-code/message
