Today, we're diving deep into YouTube. I have always been a fan of YouTube as a public storage location for videos that my clients and students create. But I'm looking at YouTube in a much different light these days. As a search engine, as a place to create relationships, I'm seeing more and more that intentionally spending time to grow your YouTube presence is a smart move. If that's you, if you see the possibility of using YouTube to grow an audience, connect with clients, and grow a stream of income, then you will love my conversation with Erin Busbee. Over the last six years, Erin has grown her YouTube Channel to more than 325 thousand subscribers. Think about that for a moment. 325-thousand. That's a lot of subscribers. And a lot of impact. And a lot of time. There are two things we talked about that I can't stress enough - that we have to be so very focused on our audience, really dialed in, and once you figure out what your audience needs to hear, then you create the systems to make videos that tie into your message. Here's what you'll learn in this episode: *The one question you can ask yourself if you're trying to figure out your next path *What is affiliate marketing? *Erin's content creation process *What you can outsource - and why you should *What YouTube is prioritizing and pushing right now *Four things you should focus on if you're going all in on YouTube right now Here are links mentioned in this episode: *Get Erin's Wardrobe Basics Checklist here *Check out Erin's YouTube Channel here *Want to learn more about the Video Bootcamp? Hi there friend! Thank you for joining me for the 3rd episode in our social selling series. In episode 8, the one right before this one, we talked with social selling and LinkedIn expert Brynne Tillman about how to strategically use LinkedIn to grow your sales and your authority. That episode has been very well received and I have gotten a ton of positive feedback from listeners through linked in and email so that’s been great. In fact, it is the most downloaded podcast that I’ve had to date. So if you haven’t already, I would really encourage you to take a listen to that episode – again it’s the episode right before this one – number 8. In the first episode of the series episode 7, “Social Selling Is all About Value”, with sales expert Barb Giamanco we break down how to deliver value in our social selling efforts that will open more doors and build better relationships with our targeted prospects. Its another great episode that lays out the foundation of social selling with great examples. Today we are focused on one of the hottest topics in sales and marketing right now and that is how to leverage video in social selling to build relationships and authority and draw leads into your sales funnel. It will come as no surprise to many of you, that video - much like audio, has a profound ability to create connections with your potential buyers. And our expert guest today is just the person to break down the basics of getting started with video. Cheryl Tan has a fantastic background in broadcast journalism, where over 20 years in TV news she perfected her interviewing and storytelling skills. Over the years she has put thousands of people on camera so she knows her stuff. Now she shares those skills with fellow businessowners who want to tell the stories of their companies through video or through the media. Through consulting and done-for-you video services, she helps entrepreneurs be seen as experts in their field - she is on a mission to help people find their voice and bring their stories to life on video. Cheryl is the host of the "STANDOUT with Cheryl Tan" podcast, where she shares strategies you can use right now to get noticed and be seen as a thought leader in your industry. It’s a great podcast packed with valuable tips and best practices. You can catch up on past shows at CherylTanMedia.com. Now I’m going to get honest here with you for a moment. This is an important masterclass episode for me personally as I haven’t really embraced the use of video yet or at all really. If I’m being honest, I’ve been a little intimated by it. The reasons why have varied – I’m always tyring to figure out the rules of engagement, “should it be casual and spur of the moment or structured and training like?”, “What should I wear? Is it ok to shoot in my house? What kind of camera and background should I have?”… All of that being said, I recognize how important video is for my business and I am dedicated to overcoming the mental roadblocks I have around using video. And I’ve made it a huge part of my marketing plan for the next few months. So if you’re like me, you recognize that you need to embrace video and leverage it in your business and sales routine and are looking for the basics on how to get started this masterclass is for you. Now if you’re one of those people who are comfortable and rocking your videos (you’re amazing!), stay tuned anyway because I think you’ll find some great nuggets in here to help you refine and improve your efforts as well. In this interview we are going to touch on some great, actionable tips for getting started with video, including: How to build authority in your niche through video Leveraging video to level the playing field between you and larger or more well established competitors How to enhance your lead generation and sales conversations using video This will be a great primer on video. I have my pen and paper out and I’m ready to take notes! This episode is brought to you by My own strategy sessions. Are you focused on growing your sales, business and impact and looking for some quick, actionable advice on how best to move forward? Are you focused on obtaining a big dream client and need some actionable advice on how to get their attention and land the deal? Or maybe you want to drive more leads into your business but need some guidance on where to invest? A strategy session may be just the thing that can help you move forward quickly. Content is king, yes. But how do you create it consistently? That's the magic question, isn't it? In this episode, you'll hear how I help clients come up with video ideas in a short amount of time. No writing, no memorizing, no stress. I talk with a lot of business owners who want to start creating videos, but get stumped by many of the aspects of putting them together. What kind of equipment do I need, how do I light it properly, what do I say? So videographer Chris Lane and I teamed up to create a video package that gives people the chance to come to a studio location, be interviewed by me and then receive edited videos they can use for their website or social media. I have found that when people are interviewed, when you ask them questions about their businesses and what they are passionate about, they open up, they are less nervous and they can very easily come up with video topic ideas during the course of our conversation. What you'll hear is an on air coaching session I did with Chris to help him come up with ideas for his next series of videos he will release to his audience. Chris is like many of us, lots of ideas, not enough time focused on making those ideas happen. He's really busy doing things that make money in his business. And these videos, naturally, take a backseat. Does that sound familiar? Listen as I am help him focus on how he helps his clients. The cameras are rolling, I'm grilling him with questions. And I want him to boil down his ideas to create videos that are short and impactful. What you'll learn in this episode: *How to come up with a number of video topics in a short amount of time *How to put together video shoots for maximum effect *How to put together ideas that will attract clients Links mentioned in this episode: *CherylTanMedia.com/Podcast *Should You Hire A Professional Videographer? *Click to join the STANDOUT with Cheryl Tan community *My Video Resources page *Sign up for my newsletter and get access to the STANDOUT Facebook community here (and get the 5-Day Media Magnet Challenge) Did you enjoy the show? Welcome to STANDOUT episode #28. I'm your host Cheryl Tan with CherylTanMedia.com, and I'm so honored you have been part of my podcasting journey so far. Since the beginning of 2016, I have been telling the stories of entrepreneurs, 27 of them to be exact - sharing their steps to success, asking them about their challenges and how they overcame them. Check out the previous shows. I've had the chance to talk with some incredible entrepreneurs, like April Spring (episode #4), Dennis Brown (episode #8), and Duane Thompson (episode #3) ... and two dozen others who have created opportunities for themselves and for others through their drive, passion, and tenacity. There are stories of success, failure, and some lessons learned for all of us in business. We'll still hear those stories. That won't change. What is going to change is a shift in focus for the show itself. The stories are now going to revolve around how these entrepreneurs got attention for their growing businesses - specifically media attention. How they got it, what they did to get more, and how that kind of media exposure has helped to grow their companies. This is more in line with what I talk about every day. I am a media strategist and I show entrepreneurs how to get the attention of the media for their businesses. People come to me with questions all the time on how to reach the media and how to get journalists to pay attention to them. I know a little something about receiving media pitches. I was a TV news journalist for many years. I feel as if I have seen it all, and I have also seen the huge returns this free publicity can get. This show is a perfect opportunity to showcase entrepreneurs who have found success by marketing through the media. And I'll be sharing media tips, tricks & templates, which you can receive via email if you sign up at cheryltanmedia.com. If you have been wondering, is free publicity worth the effort, or if you want to know how this kind of exposure can help you grow your company, then listen to the stories of entrepreneurs who will be joining us for STANDOUT. They'll be sharing their strategies. I promise you, you'll be taking notes….and my hope is, you'll also be taking action. The next episode comes out in just a few days. Until next time. Thanks so much for joining me, I'm Cheryl Tan.
