A headline on Facebook grabbed my attention this week. It was from a big national grocery chain running a Thanksgiving promotion that feeds ten people for five dollars per person. It made me pause, partly because the idea is tempting, but also because it raised a few questions in my mind about scale, ingredients, and what we really want on our holiday tables. If you cook for a smaller group, or you are thinking creatively about Thanksgiving this year, I have thoughts to share! Then I talk with today's guest, Dee Rotman from deesweets.com. Dee focuses on helping people make impressive desserts without losing the whole day to the kitchen. She builds recipes that feel special but stay friendly for tight schedules. She also seriously loves almonds, which shows in the recipe she is sharing with us today. It's for Almond Croissant Cookie Bars that are inspired by those classic bakery almond croissants. Big news is coming! I'm finally almost ready to share what I've been hinting at for months: my brand-new project, Cook for Two. It's been such a joy building this, and we're so close to launch that I can hardly keep it to myself. And so in today's episode, I blather on about it a lot. I'm so excited! In this episode, I also chat with Christine McMichael from Jar of Lemons about her best tips for getting quick and easy dinners on the table, even with picky eaters in the mix. Christine shares how she makes mealtime simpler for her family while keeping things healthy and fun.As I relistened to our conversation, I couldn't help thinking about how that same “quick and easy” mindset connects to cooking for two, although the reasons behind the desire for ease are a little different. I'll also say that a big perk of cooking for two is fewer pickiness restrictions because the fewer people you're cooking for, the more you get to focus on what you love to eat, without all the compromises.Christine's Recipe: Honey Sesame Chicken Prep BowlsChristine on Instagram: @jar.of.lemonsChristine Pittman's LinksQuick Chicken Curry for TwoAir Fryer Turkey TenderloinsPancakes for TwoMulled Wine RecipeQuickest Chili for TwoEmail Me! CookTheStory@gmail.comSubscribe to the PodcastJoin the ROTD Facebook Group, TikTok, or InstagramWebsites: CookTheStory.com and TheCookful.comChristine's Newsletter

The discussion sheds light on the lasting impact workplace violence has on nurses' mental health and the importance of having real support systems in place. Kelsey also shares powerful advice for new nurses on protecting their safety, caring for their well-being, and building a sustainable career in nursing.>>Facing the Reality of Violence in Healthcare—A Nurse's Push for Safer WorkplacesJump Ahead to Listen:[00:01:29] Nursing violence awareness and prevention.[00:05:18] Healthcare violence post-COVID.[00:09:22] Reporting violence in healthcare.[00:14:01] Near miss incidents in healthcare.[00:16:59] Workplace violence prevention strategies.[00:19:47] Violence in healthcare settings.[00:22:58] Impact of PTSD on nurses.[00:26:17] Importance of therapy in nursing.[00:30:40] Self-care for nurses.[00:34:09] Professional organizations for nurses.[00:36:23] Nursing as a noble profession.Connect with Jana on LinkedInConnect with Kelsey on LinkedIn and on social media:Instagram: @kelsey.a.springer, @the.no.violence.nurseFor more information, full transcript and videos visit Nurse.org/podcastJoin our newsletter at nurse.org/joinInstagram: @nurse_orgTikTok: @nurse.orgFacebook: @nurse.orgYouTube: Nurse.org
