"How do you break 80?" is one of the most common questions in amateur golf. If you're consistently shooting in the low 80s, the easiest way to shoot in the 70s probably isn't making more birdies. It's avoiding double bogeys, improving your golf course management and making smarter decisions from tee to green. Luke Kerr-Dineen breaks down how to break 80 using golf statistics, shot-pattern data and simple course-management strategies that can help golfers shoot lower scores without changing their golf swing. On this episode of the Jered Williams Show, host Jered Williams sits down with Sarah Delnay, owner of Plumbline, to discuss the critical impact of professional call handling and CSR performance on plumbing business profitability. The conversation highlights the necessity of 24/7 call coverage to protect marketing investments, the specific traits of successful CSRs—such as confidence, empathy, and the ability to maintain conversational control—and the strategic distinction between the customer-advocacy role of a CSR and the company-focused role of a dispatcher. Jered and Sarah also explore broader business growth themes, including the "sweet spot" of scaling to a six-to-seven truck fleet, the psychological barriers to raising prices, and the importance of aggressive capacity planning to ensure no high-value lead is left unbooked.
Mark Sisson ran for decades in cushioned shoes and paid for it with a hip replacement he believes was preventable.Seven Gs of force hit your hip with every step in cushioned shoes, versus one or two when your feet can feel the ground. In this Quick Take on Smart Consulting Sourcing, Hélène Laffitte, CEO at Consulting Quest, explains how to track what consultants are actually delivering without turning into the client who needs a daily task-by-task progress report. Discover the two patterns that quietly wreck consulting projects, consultants left without direction or sponsorship, and consultants managed so closely nobody can move, and why the internal project manager's real job is making decisions when consultants get stuck, connecting them to the right people, and protecting the project from the organization's own tendency to slow it down, all in three minutes.

"I would argue that all stories have branches like a tree, and they have many different points they can make." "Your life is just a collection of stories. Now, go tell them." The Easiest Way to Tell More Stories at Work This transcript has been edited for clarity and length. Storytelling at work doesn't have to feel forced or rehearsed. In this Micro Motivator, Erin shares why stories are so effective in workplace communication, the common mistake people make when trying to find the "right" story, and a simple way to build a story library you can use for job interviews, presentations, meetings, and more. Why We Avoid Telling Stories at Work Erin: Stories are remembered far more effectively than facts and figures. And yes, I realize the irony of starting that statement with a fact. There are a lot of reasons people avoid telling stories at work. Maybe you think you're not a good storyteller. Maybe you don't think you have any good stories. But one of the biggest reasons is that people assume stories take too much time. You think, "People don't have time to listen to a long story. It'll be faster if I just get to the point." But people generally don't care how long something takes if they're engaged. Stories Aren't Selfish Erin: Stories also aren't selfish. When you tell a story, the people listening start riding sidecar next to you. If you talk about your brother, they may start thinking about their sister. If you tell a story from high school, they start remembering their own experiences from high school. A story might technically be about you, but the listener naturally connects it to their own life. Storytelling becomes a shared experience. The Storytelling Mistake Most People Make Erin: Here's the mistake I see people make when they're preparing for something like a job interview or a big presentation: they start with the scenario and then try to think of a story that fits it. That is hard. Our brains aren't really wired to work that way. Instead, start by creating a story library. That's really just a fancy word for a list. It could live in a notebook, on your phone, or even in your head. Start by identifying about 10 stories you know well. Some might be funny stories from your personal life. Others might come from your career. Some might simply be everyday experiences that can become metaphors or analogies. One Story Can Make Many Different Points Erin: Here's where the magic happens: most stories don't have only one point. Think of a story like a tree with multiple branches. Maybe you went shopping and had an interesting customer experience. That one experience could become a story about customer service, packaging, positioning, communication, expectations, or dozens of other things. Even something as simple as pulling weeds in your garden could become a metaphor for persistence, solving recurring problems, getting to the root cause, or dealing with something you thought you had already fixed. When you begin with stories you already know, storytelling becomes much easier. You're not inventing something on the spot. You're taking an experience you're comfortable talking about and deciding which point you want it to illustrate. How to Use a Story Library in Job Interviews Erin: Job interviews are a perfect example. Instead of trying to predict every question an interviewer might ask, prepare your top stories from your career. Each story can probably demonstrate several different things depending on how you frame it: leadership, problem-solving, communication, resilience, teamwork, conflict, innovation, or growth. That also helps you sound more natural. You're telling a story you genuinely know instead of trying to force a rehearsed answer into a question you hoped they would ask. Your life is just a collection of stories. Now go tell them.

Most elk hunters are either struggling with their diaphragm or over-relying on it. Cliff and Jim break down three non-vocal sounds that are easy to make, highly realistic, and will set you apart from every other caller in the woods. The three sounds: raking (the easiest elk call anyone can learn in five minutes), huffing (what close-range bulls do constantly that almost no one imitates), and glunking (the weird one that most hunters don't even know elk make). Jim and Cliff demonstrate each one and break down exactly how to produce it in the field. In this video:Raking — how to do it, what to rake on, and why it's deadly early season when bulls aren't vocalizingHuffing — breathing hard through your tube, what it sounds like, and when to use itGlunking — why rhythm matters more than tone, and the hand technique that adds resonanceWhy these sounds work on high-pressure public land where bugles call in hunters.Cliff's in-person elk course - https://pursuitwithcliff.com/elk-hunting-master-class/---FOLLOW CLIFFYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/c/CliffGrayInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/Cliffgry/Facebook - https://facebook.com/PursuitWithCliffPursuit With Cliff Podcasthttps://pursuitwithcliff.com/interviews-and-podcasts/Cliff's Hunt Planning and Strategy Membership https://pursuitwithcliff.com/membership/Hunt. Send us Fan MailThe Easiest Way to Avoid ThinkingWhen did disagreeing with someone become enough to decide that they're stupid, evil, or simply not worth listening to?That's something I've been thinking about a lot lately. In this episode of Kyle Talks, I talk about my frustration with the way we increasingly handle disagreement. Too often, it seems like the moment someone holds an opinion we strongly disagree with, we stop engaging with what they actually believe and start attacking the person who believes it.And honestly? That's the easy way out.It takes very little effort to say, "They're stupid."It takes much more effort to ask:Why do they believe that? What experiences brought them there? What information are they looking at? Where do I think their reasoning falls short? And can I actually explain why I believe they're wrong? That's the kind of disagreement I want to encourage on Kyle Talks. This isn't an argument that every idea is harmless or that every opinion deserves endless consideration. Some beliefs and actions are genuinely dangerous, and there are moments when society needs to stand together and clearly reject them. But even then, simply insulting people isn't enough. If we want to change minds, improve our communities, and create a healthier culture, we have to be willing to do the harder work.In this episode, we explore:Why we've become so quick to equate disagreement with stupidity or bad characterThe difference between challenging an idea and attacking a personWhy calling someone "stupid" often allows us to avoid actually engaging with their argumentWhy understanding someone's position doesn't mean agreeing with itWhen disagreement crosses into genuinely dangerous territoryWhy some ideas need to be challenged firmly rather than simply dismissedWhat productive disagreement actually requires from usWhy intellectual humility is not the same thing as weaknessHow doing the harder work of conversation can create real changeYou don't have to agree with someone. You don't have to pretend every idea is equally valid. And you don't have to abandon your convictions. But if we're going to disagree, let's actually disagree.Let's ask questions.Let's understand the argument.Let's challenge the reasoning.Let's explain why we think someone is wrong. And let's stop pretending that calling someone stupid is the same thing as proving them wrong.Understanding does not equal agreement. That's the conversation.Intro: Head In The Clouds by Matthew MorelockOutro: Surfaces Type Beat - Jellyfish BeatsSupport the show

Last week my McLaren broke down on the A303, right by Stonehenge. Engine light on, pulled over waiting for recovery while people drove past honking at me.Old me would've spiralled. Missed meetings, day ruined.Instead I asked myself, where's this stress actually coming from? I haven't crashed. I haven't died. I'm just standing next to a broken car. So I got a taxi, did my meetings from the back seat, let the car company sort the rest. Zero stress. Because I chose not to have any. That's the whole game. Cortisol isn't the enemy. Living permanently jacked up on it is.Every rich person I know exists in a state I call hyper calm. Not stressed 24/7, not switched off either. Calm as the default, with the ability to flip the stress on for the split second it's needed and drop it straight after.Epictetus said it a couple thousand years ago. If it's not in my control, it's none of my concern. You decide what deserves a stress response. Most of what wrecks people daily doesn't qualify. In this video I broke down my full protocol for “Cortisol Loading” and how it will make you rich.If you can't sit through a 40 minute step-by-step video on how to become rich by someone who has made $40M in his 20's, then this is not for you.Watch the full breakdown here: https://youtu.be/AOMmrxyiOCs
Most fundraising galas leave money on the table for reasons the people running them never see.Chris Hensley and Brett Higgins, two of the most in-demand fundraising auctioneers in the country, join Trevor to work through five of the sharpest questions raised at the recent Chicago Gala Playbook event. What separates the organizations that consistently overperform from the ones that stay stuck at last year's number? Where does the fundraising actually break down in a program? And what does it look like to create inspiration to give without slipping into pressure? In this episode: the six-month mistake most nonprofits make (spoiler, it involves ignoring the data from last year's event), why "we don't want to ask for too much money" is almost always a symptom of a past bad experience, the difference between pressure and inspiration and when each has a place, the concept of "unspoken peer pressure" and how leaders in the room quietly move giving upward, why the witching hour at 9:15pm is real and what to do about your program timing, and the one thing organizations overestimate every year (the room, the dinner, the linens) versus the one thing that actually moves revenue.Plus: why Chris raised $1.2M against a $400K goal at a Relevant Radio event, and what "taking the lid off" the top ask can look like when the room is emotionally ready.Chapters:00:00 Intro01:41 Gala Playbook in Chicago09:25 Data-Driven Fundraising18:25 The Art of Asking23:00 Creating Inspiration to Give Instead of Pressure32:09 Creating a Unique Experience for Fundraising Events38:09 The Right Places to Focus43:32 One Piece of Advice You Would Give to a Nonprofit45:54 Bonus

Cash flow refers to the money moving in and out of your business. When you have a positive cash flow, it simply means that you have enough money to manage the payments of any money that goes out of your business. If you have more money coming into your business than going out, you will have obtained a positive cash flow. Many business owners think the only way they can increase their cash flow is to increase their sales or increase their net income. This statement is partially true. If you are experiencing a tight cash flow, or maybe even a negative cash flow, there are things you can do in your business right now to help give your cash flow a boost without increasing your sales. Bobby goes down a Stephen King rabbit hole after watching "The Life of Chuck" and realizing how many movies King wrote or inspired that he didn’t even know were Stephen King and he shares the titles that surprised him most. The conversation also hits on what everyone’s currently watching, including a quick detour into a new show Brandon’s starting and a documentary that gets the room talking. Then it flips into concert talk with a rapid-fire questionnaire: best live shows, what it’s like seeing an artist from the very front row, and the painful question of who's an artist you loved until you finally saw them live. They wrap by breaking down the easiest ways to ruin a concert fast, from bad sound to drunk people to the little crowd habits that can kill the vibe for everyone.
