I was able to get the illustrious Dave Taht back on the show, where we talk about how things have changed for networking even in the last year, the importance of redundant systems, and the “perfect storm” required for technology advancement and adoption. Also recorded from his boat, as the first ever podcast recorded over Starlink.

Looking at changes in the market in the last ten years, it certainly seems like vendors work less toward innovation and more towards locking customers in to revenue streams. Chris Emerick, Dave Taht, and Russ White decided it's time to talk about. What's wrong with vendors? And since everything can't be wrong with vendors, where are they doing the right thing?
In this episode, I chat with the famous Dave Taht, one of the top minds working on improving how the Internet handles the applications we use more and more every day. We talk music, bufferbloat, and the double-edged sword that is network latency.

We've been busy! At least that's our excuse. We recorded this episode with Dave Taht and Seth David Schoen about some new drafts they wrote for the Unicast Use of the Formerly Reserved address blocks such as 240.0.0.0, 127.0.0.0 and a few others, back in February. Needless to say, it was pretty interesting. Full of very polarizing topics (for oh-so-many reasons) this winding and wandering podcast lays out the history as well as the justifications for taking such address blocks - historically held as “untouchable” - and advocates for moving them into general use. Take a listen and decide for yourself! Dave Taht is one of the Internet's unsung (but singing) heroes, and is doing more than anyone today to rescue your Internet connection from something you haven't heard of, but should: bufferbloat. On FLOSS Weekly, Doc Searls and Jonathan Bennett spend an information-packed hour with Dave, digging deep into bloated network buffers, bureaucracies, corporate failings, and slow but real progress against all of those, much of it with Dave's leadership.
