In this interview episode of Seeing Them Live, Charles interviews singer BB from BB & The Honey. BB is an American singer and songwriter who has been an integral part of the Chicago music scene for 20 years.  Audiences say her voice is a blend of Brandy Carlisle, Janice Joplin, Patsy Klein, Stevie Nicks, and Amelda May. Her powerful interpretations range from blues, funk, soul, classic country to jazz, rockabilly, and classic rock. BB & the Honey have released a new EP of original songs called Reckless Heart, which is available on all major streaming platforms.BB reminisces about her first concert at age five, seeing Sean Cassidy at Navy Pier in Chicago, and shares memorable concert experiences with Mumford and Sons, contrasting them with a lackluster performance by Bob Dylan she attended in the early 90s. She discusses a formative experience in her music career when she and a friend were invited to join Arise Records after singing 'Amazing Grace' in a Chicago subway. This fortuitous event laid the groundwork for BB's extensive music journey, performing with various bands and writing a wide range of musical genres from blues, funk, soul, classic country, to jazz and rock. The episode also dives into BB's musical projects, from her early involvement with hip hop group Schmoov and the Family to later bands like Super D, The Jesters, and Seeking Wonderland. BB elaborates on how she transitioned into learning the piano during the COVID-19 pandemic, which allowed her to contribute more dynamically to her current band. BB & The Honey recently released a new EP called 'Reckless Heart,' comprising four original songs. The interview touches on the practicalities of their live performances, noting the flexibility in band size depending on the venue. BB delves into the recording process of the EP, aiming to capture the live energy of their performances. The episode wraps up with BB talking about their upcoming release party, their ongoing music journey, and where fans can find their music and live performance updates.BANDS: BB & the Honey, Bob Dylan, C&C Music Factory, Chicago, Full Moon Vixen, Groove X, Kris Kross, Lucinda Williams, Modern Day Romeos, Mumford and Sons, Poi Dog Pondering, Santana, Sean Cassidy, Seeking Wonderland, Stock Boy, Super D, The Dead, The Jesters, ZZ TopVENUES: Abbey Pub, Alpine Valley, Bacon Fest, beer fest in Kenosha, Baker House, Crystal Lake, Dole Mansion, Double Door, Goose Island, Hard Rock Cafe, Lake Como, Lou's Lounge, Mars Resort, Naperville, Navy Pier, Riviera, Riviera in Chicago, Ryman, Ryman Theater, Ryman Theatre, Sean Cassidy concert, Subterranean, Tinley Park, Walworth County Fair PATREON:https://www.patreon.com/SeeingThemLivePlease help us defer the cost of producing this podcast by making a donation on Patreon.WEBSITE:https://seeingthemlive.com/Visit the Seeing Them Live website for bonus materials including the show blog, resource links for concert buffs, photos, materials related to our episodes, and our Ticket Stub Museum.INSTAGRAM:https://www.instagram.com/seeingthemlive/FACEBOOK:https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550090670708

Send me a messageIn this episode of Inside The Mix, host Marc Matthews engages in a profound conversation with Tyler Lyle, the singer-songwriter and one-half of the synthwave duo, The Midnight. Tyler delves into the enigmatic nature of songwriting, describing it as "a well-narrated hallucination," and likens the creative process to "trying to start a truck sitting on a block of ice." Drawing from his folk storytelling roots, Tyler shares how he seamlessly integrates evocative lyrics into The Midnight's nostalgic synth-driven soundscapes. He contrasts the tangible aspects of music production with the abstract challenges of lyric writing, emphasizing the importance of consistent dedication—what he refers to as the "ass-in-chair method." This disciplined approach involves daily studio sessions from 10 am to 5 pm, complemented by morning routines of journaling, exercise, and meditation to foster creativity. The synergy between Tyler and his production partner, Tim McEwan, is highlighted as a harmonious blend of prolific idea generation and meticulous refinement. Despite geographical distances, they prioritize periodic in-person collaborations to capture the irreplaceable energy of shared creative spaces.Much of the discussion centers on Tyler's transition from confessional songwriting to crafting lyrics rich in archetypes and universal symbols. Inspired by Carl Jung's philosophies, he aims to create a shared mythological space within The Midnight's music, allowing listeners to project their meanings onto the imagery. What You'll Learn:The abstract nature of lyric writing and strategies to overcome creative challenges. The importance of consistent routines in fostering creativity.Balancing prolific idea generation with meticulous refinement in collaborative settings. The role of archetypes and universal symbols in crafting resonant lyrics.Insights into blending folk storytelling with synthwave aesthetics. For aspiring artists, Tyler emphasizes creating work that embodies truth and necessity, encouraging authentic expression over external validation. He reminds creatives that they are conduits, "ferrying ideas from one realm to this one," and underscores the significance of producing art that resonates fundamentally.Join Marc and Tyler as they explore the depths of the songwriting process, offering invaluable insights for independent music producers and artists seeking to elevate their craft.Links mentioned in this episode:Follow Tyler Lyle Support the showDownload your FREE Producer Growth Scorecard Follow Marc Matthews' Socials:Instagram | YouTube | Synth Music Mastering Thanks for listening!!

Hello Listeners! In this episode, we had the opportunity to have a conversation with Television Off with first collaboration with Lacuna. Television Off is alternative rock group from Thailand has inadvertently produced popular hits while gradually building a loyal fan base without compromising anything. Almost whispering and always captivating, Television off specializes in resounding guitars, presented by two guitarists, floating in memory and emotional climaxes, creating an intense sense of melancholy. Regularly invited to music-oriented events, the band is praised for their relentless sonic exploration. Lacuna group music from South Korea takes its name from Lacuna Inc., an imaginary company that erases memories in the iconic film 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.' The four-member band specializes in dreamy sounds with soft and poetic lyrics. Contrary to their initial impression, elements of hard rock and Britpop explode in their instrumentals and intense, dramatic stage presence. Since Lacuna's debut EP 'Incompleteness Dreams' in 2018, they have released 4 EPs and 3 singles to critical acclaim, leading to a series of sold-out performances and appearances on the global music channel Mnet's 'Great Seoul Invasion.' Television off and Lacuna in their first collaboration single 'Do You?', a Thai love song about a relationship that seems to be at a standstill. The warmth and sincerity of this song are reflected through heartfelt lyrics, written by both Television off and Lacuna. The collaboration started with online discussions, and they eventually had the chance to meet when Television off opened for Lacuna's concert earlier this year. Quickly becoming friends, Lacuna and Television off brought this project to life, recording it together with lyrics in both Thai and Korean. Together, they took the unusual opportunity afforded by the pandemic in order to create thunderous classic rock music that is both nostalgic and fresh.    We talk about that music on this episode, including their first single “Kill Me to Keep Loving You.” But more importantly, we get an honest look at how a kid from Pennsylvania who grew up steeped in classic rock not only met his heroes— but is making music with them.   Find “Kill Me to Keep Loving You” at https://linktr.ee/hellings.    This show is sponsored by lifeaudio: https://www.lifeaudio.com/   If you're struggling and in need of support, visit: HeartSupport Death2Life Teen Hopeline Beneath the Skin To Write Love On Her Arms   Follow Hellings: Website Instagram Facebook YouTube Twitter TikTok Apple Music Spotify   For more Trevor Talks: Spotify Apple Music Google Podcasts Instagram FacebookSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We have a lot of tips for you in this week's Producer Pub episode. We're talking about how to collaborate on music remotely. Collaborating with other artists can be a great way to enhance your reach and longevity in the music industry, but it also requires a lot of preparation and communication. We discuss how to prepare stems for mixing. It's important that you don't just send a full mix over; instead, send individual tracks so that your collaborators can do their own thing with them. This will make it easier for your collaborators to add their own spin on things, too!We talk about content marketing and how collaborating can enhance your reach. Collaborating with others can extend your reach and make people aware of who YOU are, which is key in this industry where longevity seems to be the goal for almost everyone involved in music creation. He literally traded his synthesizers to fund his company Pibox at first. Now it's one of the favorite collaboration tools on the web. Now that everyone is on lockdown due to a worldwide pandemic, Music Tectonics host Dmitri Vietze interrogates Tavaychuk about the features Pibox offers to musicians, educators, and industry teams as they are thrown off course and forced to collaborate remotely. Find out about commenting on waveforms, in-line chats with cloud storage, and folder integration that makes sense for talks between band mates, artist and label, or teams and clients of production libraries. And hear tips for any artist looking to collaborate remotely for the first time on this timely episode in our series about remote collaboration, live streaming, remote education, and more. The Music Tectonics podcast goes beneath the surface of the music industry to explore how technology is changing the way business gets done. Her and I did a mutual newsletter takeover where we both researched the topic and wrote separate articles in each other’s newsletter. On this podcast, we recapped our findings, and shared key reasons why the concept is limited in its reach. We also had some fun and answered a popular meme on how we would spend our $15 if we’re drafting a record label. Today, the most flexible instrument that anyone can play is arguably the computer, because a The post Splice: Music Collaboration with Matt Aimonetti appeared first on Software Engineering Daily.

This conversation is with Nile Rodgers. If you've listened to music in the last 40 years, you've heard his work. By trade, he's a musician and a producer -- He's a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for Musical Excellence. He's done the hard yards to understand the nuances of himself and his craft, to be able to express the inner music, in ways that have influenced the rhythms of the world. What I wanted to learn most in this conversation is how Nile understands music, and how he's been so successful collaborating with others to bring out their music. He's produced Diana Ross, David Bowie, Duran Duran, Madonna, INXS, Britney Spears, Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, Avicii, Sam Smith, Pitbull, Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Keith Urban and Christina Aguilera. And the list goes on and on and on. This conversation is about relationships -- with self -- with others.
