With the rise of smart glasses - glasses with cameras and AI technology embedded within them - the concern of privacy has become more prominent. And not only whether or not you're being filmed, but what happens with the content once it's captured. In this episode of The Jonathan Wier Show, Jonathan and co-host Cody Akins tackle the upcoming NFL schedule release (Thursday, May 14th at 7 PM CT) and debate which team they want the Chiefs to open against. Cody wants the Jets for an easy motivational win, but Jonathan argues for the Seahawks — repossess their banner on banner night and give Kenneth Walker his revenge game. The conversation pivots to a bigger problem: the NFL is becoming the world's biggest mall. With games now scattered across Netflix, Peacock, Prime, Paramount+, YouTube, and Netflix again, Jonathan argues the league is sacrificing its big-box-store accessibility for greed. He doesn't mind games on different days — but the fragmentation across paid services is going to cost them casual fans. The guys then debate the Star Fox 64 remake for Switch 2. Cody is genuinely excited (and hopeful it signals an Ocarina of Time remake for Zelda's 40th anniversary). Jonathan sees it as another nostalgia trap — Nintendo knows aging millennials will buy it no matter how much they complain, the same playbook George Lucas ran with the Star Wars Special Editions in the '90s. They close on tech policy: Utah trying to ban VPNs (unenforceable and ignores how cellular IPs work), and Meta rolling out AI age verification because kids are bypassing checks with mustaches, hats, haircuts, and makeup. Jonathan's takeaway — parents need to stop delegating parenting to the government. Talk to your kids. Block sites on your router. Do the work.

Send a textHow do we protect ourselves in a digital world where attackers face almost no real consequences? In this episode of Joey Pinz Discipline Conversations, Joey Pinz sits down with cybersecurity founder and inventor Mike Siers for a thought-provoking conversation that challenges everything we assume about online security, identity, and trust.Mike's journey begins in the Florida National Guard and a deployment to Afghanistan, where life-altering experiences shaped how he sees service, responsibility, and problem-solving. That same mindset later led him into healthcare innovation—and eventually into cybersecurity—after realizing that the internet lacks one critical element found in the physical world: real risk for bad actors.Inspired by military strategy and an MIT thesis on cyber power projection, Mike explains a radical idea: what if unauthorized access attempts cost money? Instead of defenders absorbing endless attacks, attackers would inherit the risk before they even try. This conversation explores how empathy fuels innovation, why most cybersecurity models are reactive by design, and how shifting incentives could dramatically change online behavior. It's a powerful look at leadership, responsibility, and building solutions not just for today—but for the next generation. ⭐ Top 3 Highlights

Had an AHA or Insight? Share it:Privacy isn't free—and Tanner Haas is here to prove it. In this episode of the  Business Growth Architect Show: Founders of the Future, we cut through the noise about so-called “end-to-end encryption” and uncover what's really happening when you send that photo, video, or text. Tanner reveals why free apps like WhatsApp and iMessage aren't as private as they claim, and how their business model depends on turning your personal life into profit. What I loved most about this conversation is Tanner's straightforward honesty. He doesn't mince words when it comes to exposing the games Big Tech plays with our data. He also shares his entrepreneurial journey—how frustration with misleading privacy promises pushed him to create FreedomChat, an app built on three non-negotiable pillars: true end-to-end encryption, no storage on servers, and zero commercial use of user data. This is a wake-up call for anyone who's ever said, “I have nothing to hide.” Privacy isn't about hiding—it's about your right to communicate safely with your family, friends, and colleagues without being turned into the product. Tanner's passion and persistence will leave you rethinking the apps you use every day.

Should kids be able to access hardcore porn with just a few taps on a smartphone? That's the uncomfortable—but necessary—question at the heart of this episode. As more states introduce age verification laws for obscene content online, the debate over free speech, privacy, and child safety has never been more intense. Are these laws a smart defense against exploitation... or the beginning of a slippery slope toward surveillance and censorship? In this powerful episode of The Brian Nichols Show, we take a deep dive into the Supreme Court's recent ruling on Texas' age verification law—and what it means for the future of the internet. With minors just a click away from explicit material, lawmakers argue it's time to draw a line. But our guest, David McGarry, warns that mandating ID checks for online access might destroy anonymity, chill free speech, and open the floodgates for government overreach. Brian, a new parent himself, doesn't shy away from the tough questions. He challenges David directly with real-life scenarios—like how checking a license at a video store differs from uploading your ID online—and why protecting kids might actually justify certain digital restrictions. Together, they tackle the biggest question of all: where should we draw the line between liberty and responsibility in the digital age? This episode isn't just about obscene websites. It's about whether you should be forced to “show your papers” just to speak online. Should the same standards that protect kids from porn be extended to block free speech on Twitter or Facebook? And what's to stop bad actors—or even the government—from misusing your data once it's collected? Whether you're a parent, a free speech absolutist, or just trying to make sense of how we protect kids without destroying liberty, this episode is a must-watch. We cut through the legal fog, challenge both sides, and bring it all back to common sense and real-world consequences. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Online Privacy and Law Enforcement Access: "We're arguing that we have a reasonable expectation of privacy when we use these platforms. If we wanted our identity out there, we wouldn't conceal it with a pen name or a handle or whatever you use, a username. And by creating these alternative names, we are telling the world we don't want everybody to have access to my true identity." - Steve PalmerWe're living in a world where so much of our personal information is online, from Snapchat and Instagram to emails and cell phone records. I break down exactly what law enforcement has to do to get their hands on your private data. Do they require a search warrant, or is a simple subpoena sufficient? I explain how the Fourth Amendment applies and discuss your rights regarding privacy on these digital platforms.I share some real examples from my own legal practice and explore what the federal Stored Communications Act says about these issues. We'll also take a look at some key Supreme Court cases that shape how this all plays out. And if you think this isn't relevant to you just because you're a law-abiding citizen, I'll tell you why privacy protections should matter to everyone. Here are my 3 key takeaways for you:The Stored Communications Act & SubpoenasLaw enforcement can sometimes gain access to account information (like your identity on Snapchat) with just a subpoena, not a full search warrant. This distinction is important because a subpoena is much easier to obtain than a search warrant. The Fourth Amendment Still MattersThe Fourth Amendment protects us from unreasonable searches, and the expectation of privacy extends to our digital lives. In many cases, courts are leaning toward requiring a search warrant (with probable cause) for authorities to access sensitive information, especially after landmark cases like Carpenter v. United States.Your Digital Identity Deserves ProtectionThere's an ongoing legal debate: Should police need a higher standard (a search warrant) to access your hidden or pseudonymous social media identities? My answer: Yes. Protecting personal privacy—even for law-abiding citizens—is foundational, no matter how convenient the shortcut for investigators.Got a question you want answered on the podcast?
