“Fan the Flame” Confronting the fear that Keep Your Gifts Dormant 2 Timothy 1:1-7 (NKJV) 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, 2 To Timothy, a beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. 3 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. 6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 1. Know that God's gift is in you. 2 Timothy 1:6 “…the gift of God which is in you…” 1 Corinthians 12:4-7 "There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all." 2. God is asking YOU to fan your gift into flame. 2 Timothy 1:6 “…fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you…” 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 (NASB) 19 Do not quench the Spirit;20 do not despise prophetic utterances. 21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;22 abstain from every form of evil. 3. It's time to confront our fears for what they are. 2 Tim. 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear” Matthew 25:25“And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Here it is. You can have it.” The Master responded by taking that talent from him and giving it to the first servant. 4. Use ALL of what the Holy Spirit has given you! I Timothy 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” Romans 12:2 (TPT) 2 Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God's will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.
