“On the day Pentecost was being fulfilled, all the disciples were gathered in one place. Suddenly they heard the sound of a violent blast of wind rushing into the house from out of the heavenly realm. The roar of the wind was so overpowering it was all anyone could bear! Then all at once a pillar of fire appeared before their eyes. It separated into tongues of fire that engulfed each one of them. They were all filled and equipped with the Holy Spirit and were inspired to speak in tongues—empowered by the Spirit to speak in languages they had never learned!” - Acts 2:1-4 TPT
Part of your armor against the ploys of the enemy is a bulletproof vest for your heart. If Satan can twist your heart, if he can harden your heart, if he can damage your heart, then he renders you ineffective. Nobody looks at a cynical, irritable, negative, grouchy Christian and says, ‘wow, I gotta have what she has.' Yip – ineffective! Zero impact for Jesus. Saved but not set apart for good works. For these reasons you are given the breastplate of righteousness, the bulletproof vest for your heart. If you feel righteous, there's a problem. You're not. There's nothing you could ever do to make yourself clean enough, good enough, or holy enough to be considered righteous in our perfect God's sight. And this is exactly why Jesus was required. Only he could make you righteous. His righteousness is imparted to you. His name is stamped on your account of debts and you're forever marked as “GOOD ENOUGH”. Not because of what you've done, but because of what Jesus did for you. Righteous – this means to be free from guilt or sin. Not without guilt or sin, but free from it. No longer bound by it. No longer in debt to it. No longer victim to it, but FREE from it. And the righteousness of Jesus has now empowered you to live better. Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:14, “Put on the breastplate of righteousness.” Other translations call it the “body armor of God's righteousness” or “God's approval as your breastplate.” TPT says, “Put on holiness as the protective armor that covers your heart.” Here's what we know – without this right standing, without God's approval, our most vital organs are completely vulnerable. The chest shot is the easiest shot and without God's covering, we will go down in the battle against our enemy. God did for us what we could never do for ourselves. No amount of good works, no amount of changed habits, no amount of perfectly met goals, nothing we could possibly do would make us righteous. “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”, Romans 3:23. That includes you on your worst days and you on your best days. So here's what God did – he stepped in and bridged the gap where we fell short of his glory. He bridged that gap with a cross. A literal cross where Jesus hung – and that cross allows us to cross over from forever not good enough no matter what we do, to forever good enough because of what was done for us. When you wear that as your bulletproof vest, the flaming arrows of the enemy just bounce right off. Oh, he'll still shoot them out you, but ping ping ping, they just bounce. Your heart is untouched when you fully know the stamp of Christ's full approval on you. But … there's one little problem. The devil and his demons know full well how unworthy of this bulletproof vest of righteousness you feel when you aren't living right. It's hard to put on our divinely given righteousness when deep down we know darn good and well we're not living right. When we engage in sin, we open the door for the devil to have influence in our lives. You don't even have to open the door fully to him, but a little crack will do. A little dabble in that sin. A borderline gray area that no one knows about. Even that crack in the door will give him an opportunity. Ephesians 4:27 says, “give NO opportunity to the devil.” About 2 years ago, I began praying that God would reveal to me any part of my life that was not pleasing to him. Well that was dangerous and I didn't even know it. Suddenly the Holy Spirit started revealing all my little cracked doors to the enemy. But these were really fun things. Things I enjoyed. Things that made me happy. Things I wrestled to understand how they could be wrong. After wrestling and reasoning for months, I finally began to release these things and make changes. And let me tell you what happened – it's like the lid was taken off! I was free like never before. Blessings upon blessings. Now I wonder why I waited so long to trust God with those doors that needed to be closed. The devil had access to my heart through the little cracks I had left open, doing things God had asked me not to do. When I finally partnered with God and slammed those doors, my heart was once again fully protected with the righteousness Jesus offers. Here's the truth – the devil can't take your righteousness from you, but he sure will offer you temptations to enter into a life that is so far from God's way of living that you just dismiss yourself. When you know you're living in wrong ways, it's almost impossible to keep putting on that breastplate of righteousness. What God has given you as protection becomes a heavy reminder of your unworthiness today because of what you did yesterday. So, guess what … guilt and shame eventually make you leave the breastplate in the corner. It's too painful to put on righteousness when you know you're not living right. And boom – you're vulnerable. Now with your hidden guilt and quiet shame, your heart is left unprotected. The offered righteousness of Jesus lays on the floor as the enemy's fiery darts come flying. No, your righteousness cannot be taken from you. What Jesus did is forever done. But what can happen here is you can feel so terrible about your life that you no longer put on that righteousness. PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS. THIS IS PART OF GOD'S DIVINE ARMOR FOR YOU IN THE UNSEEN SPIRITUAL BATTLE. GOD. LOVES. YOU. With full awareness of every single thing you would ever do wrong, every bad choice you would ever make, every failure, every wandering step, he knowingly and willing CHOSE to give his son Jesus for you. He knew it was the only way you could be made right, and he deemed you worthy of that sacrifice. SATAN. HATES. YOU. With full awareness of God's covering of undeserved righteousness over you, Satan continually tries to remove that covering. Let me tell you something, Satan has no power to take the breastplate of righteousness from you but he certainly can convince you into living a life that makes that breastplate feel entirely too heavy to wear. Tricky little sucker will deceive you into picking up guilt and shame instead of righteousness, and wear that over your heart. My human mind cannot understand why God would do this for me. I'm messed up, and wow, I have a really special way of getting things wrong sometimes. But I choose to believe His word concerning me – I choose to believe that I am made righteous through Jesus. That his cross allows me to cross over to the righteousness I fall short of. Over and over again, God helps me when I cannot help myself. On the days when I get it right, I must remember that breastplate of righteousness has absolutely nothing to do with my good works. It was given to me to wear. It protects me from pride. On the days when I get it wrong, I must remember the breastplate of righteousness is still mine. It was given to me to wear. It protects me from guilt and shame. For his girls wearing this breastplate of righteousness, we are called to then live RIGHT. Clean up our lives. We're not given permission to continue living in the ways his Spirit tells us are wrong. That's the beauty of this walk with Jesus – we learn more and more how to live right. And as he lovingly invites us into better living, it's for our greatest benefit to trust him and leave behind our old ways. Continuing in our old ways makes it harder to put on the armor over our hearts, and without that armor, our hearts are left vulnerable. Jesus, I'm not a good guard of my own heart – I need your righteousness to guard this heart of mine. So today, for the one who feels so totally unrighteousness because of your past or present choices, please know the breastplate of Jesus' righteousness is still here for your heart. Bring him your guilt, bring him your shame, bring him your regrets and receive his holy exchange. You, the real you, all of you, forever made righteous. That's everything Satan doesn't want you to know. But when you know, your heart is protected! Ephesians 6:10, “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” This comes BEFORE you put on the armor in verses 11-17. Putting even the best armor on a weak soldier does no good in the battle. The soldier must be strong to use the armor. Maybe you're weak right now – girl you don't need heavy armor – first you need to be strengthened. How do we gain this strength? “Be strong IN the Lord and in his mighty power.” IN THE LORD. Strength comes IN union with God. The original greek used a passive verb literally meaning “be strengthen by someone else”. We are strengthened by God, not by ourselves. If we run into battle without HIS strength, we will lose. If we are strong but without God's armor, we will be defeated. We must have his strength AND his armor. But his strength comes FIRST. Before we are given weapons to fight, we must gain strength and learn how to use our weapons. (Soldiers in basic training). We are called on to actively stand against the enemy, but we are never expected to do so in our own strength—that would be suicidal. “Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.” This is a divine-human partnership. Not for a moment are we to fight the devil with our own ideas, our money, our strong will, or our own talents. Let's look at this scripture in different translations (Ephesians 6:10) • MSG – God is strong and he wants YOU strong. • TPT – Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you. Think about an infusion. An infusion is the delivery of fluids, medications or blood from an OUTSIDE source, flowing directly into a person's bloodstream through an IV. The IV is the connection allowing the flow. Without the IV, there is no connection and there is no flow. No flow, no infusion of what is needed. God's word is telling us WE MUST HAVE A CONNECTION TO BE INFUSED BY HIS STRENGTH. That connection is our relationship with Jesus Christ. As we connect with Jesus, we are infused with God's supernatural strength flowing in us and through us. We don't generate that strength, it is divinely infused strength. Spiritual power through connection. Now, with that image, read Ephesian 6:10 TPT again, “Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you.” (See yourself hooked up to an IV receiving everything you need just flowing into you from an outside source. Strength, healing, power. Receive that!) Jeusus assures us in John 16:33 that, “Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. BUT TAKE HEART, BECUASE I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.” That's the power of Jesus and that's the power that flows through you when you are connected to him and infused by God's strength! Will there still be problems? Yes – and here's why – because there's still a spiritual battle happening. Our problems are like visible wounds from the unseen spiritual battle. Behind most every problem is a spiritual battle to distract us, discourage us, dismiss us or distance us. Our problems are the visible wounds of the battle. Addictions, problems in your marriage, problems with your children, financial struggles, health battles – yes, those are the visible wounds of spiritual battles. But always remember this – 1 John 4:4, “Greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world.” MSG, “The Spirit that is in you is far greater than anything in the world.” If you're feeling weak from the battle, my sister, it's time for your infusion. Before you step into the next battle, before you make another decision, before you quit or before you move forward, be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you. Isn't that the answer for what you're facing? Yes. Isn't that the answer for how you've been feeling? Yes. You're in a battle and before anything else, you need to be supernaturally strengthened. You only receive that through connection with Jesus. Seek him, lean into him, spend time with him, talk to him, rest in him, connect with him. If somebody else could do exactly what you're doing after reading the same slide deck-Why did you go to grad school? That's the question that hit me after I reviewed a state-sponsored training that handed school counselors a watered-down counseling model and called it evidence-based. And once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it. But this episode isn't really about one training. It's about what happens when a profession starts confusing the appearance of counseling with counseling itself: the slides that look clinical, the activities that look like interventions, the worksheets that look like the real thing. I'll give you one simple question to tell the difference. And fair warning- a lot of your favorite materials won't survive it.[Part 1 of 2. This week, the rule. Sickness is not normal for a child of God. Yet, so many of us have learned to normalize our physical and emotional pain, wrapping it in excuses of age, genetics, or circumstance. But what if your breakthrough is waiting on your voice? In this powerful episode, My LORD, My HEALER, we dive deep into Psalm 41 and Matthew 9 to uncover the holistic nature of God's redemptive covenant. King David didn't whisper in his sickness; he vocalized his faith from the bed of suffering.Join us as we dismantle the religious myth of a "divided Gospel"—the idea that forgiveness is guaranteed but healing is an optional extra. Discover how Jesus beautifully weaves pardon and preservation together, proving that the same authority that removes your sin is the very authority that restores your health. In this episode, you'll learn:Why faith never produces in the silence of the heart. The Hebrew meaning of amar (to speak) and yasha (salvation/wholeness).Why soul healing must precede body healing ("God can't heal what you conceal").How the cross of Isaiah 53 addresses the total ruin of humanity—not just legal guilt.Stop normalizing what Jesus paid to defeat. Just as God has a work he wants to do in your life, so does the enemy. The devil wants to do a work in your mind. He wants to do his nasty work in your heart. And he wants to bring absolute destruction to your relationships. And here's the really dangerous thing … you may just be doing the devil's work for him. That's right – you might be causing the destruction yourself. Most of us have partnered with the enemy and without even knowing it, we've been doing his nasty work for him. We've made his job easy. Paul warns us of this in Ephesians 4: 26-27, “Don't sin by letting anger control you. Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.” Here's what this DOES NOT MEAN – this does not mean you can never be angry. This doesn't mean you have to smile and always be happy. There is righteous anger. There are times when it is right to be angry. Jesus flipped a few tables in his day. You don't have to be a pushover. In fact, God's word even warns us that it's not good to just go along with the crowd. We are to stand up for what is right. We are to be the light in the darkness. We are to cast out demons and evict evil. But, here's what we cannot do – we cannot let anger control us. You can have anger – but don't let anger have you. There's a difference. When anger has you, it takes control of your mind and your mouth. When anger has you, you lash out and you act in a way that is not honoring of God. When anger has you, you sin. Don't sin by letting anger control you. Where has anger taken control of you and left you thinking, saying and doing things you don't even want to? Do you see this anywhere in your life? Do you know how that happened? Plain and simple, you didn't put a time limit on that anger. You can feel what you need to feel, but you can't allow yourself an open ended space to feel those negative feelings because then they take root and they begin growing in you. Whatever grows in you begins to take over you. This week I was sitting in a small village in southern Italy just looking at the old stone buildings and architecture. I noticed a grapevine that had grown up the side of the building. But then the grapevine had began to grow into the building. Attaching itself to the stone, wrapping itself around the railings, and literally growing to become part of the building. The grapevine was creating damage to the stone walls and taking over the walkway. This is the perfect picture of what happens within us with anything we allow to grow. We are taken over. Some of us have angry grapevines growing on every surface, creating damage and destruction. It didn't happen instantly, it happened over time. Time. God works with time, but so does the enemy of your soul. If you give God time, he will radically change your life and set you free. If you give the devil time, he will wreck your heart, corrupt your mind, and destroy your life. And this is why Paul says, “Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.” This is about time. If you give the devil time with your anger, he will do his nasty work and eat you up on the inside. All anger, even justified anger, must be managed with a time limit. Anger absolutely cannot take up permanent residence in your heart and mind! How much time will you give anger? Something makes you mad – okay – so how long will you allow yourself to be mad over that? Paul says, NOT EVEN A FULL DAY. That's what it means to not let the sun go down on your anger. Don't let today's anger flow into tomorrow. Don't go to bed mad about this and wake up mad about it again. Set a time limit on that anger. Unlimited anger with the free rein of time gives the devil a foothold. Do you know what a foothold is? Think of it like this – if a bad guy is chasing you and you run into your house, but he sticks his foot in the door before you get it closed, that's a foot hold. With his foot in the door, he can gain access and do damage. It might only be a 3 inch crack, but if he gets his foot in the door, then you are left vulnerable. That's what anger without a time limit does in your life – it lets the devil get his foot in the door to your life. That small opening gives him access to do great damage. It may not feel like it, but even that justified anger that lingers can make you spiritually vulnerable. There comes a point with anger where we almost cherish it. We find delight in replaying the story, retelling the events, and rekindling the anger. The more people we can get to join us in that anger, the better. But that's only better for the enemy. Now he has greater access to more hearts. Footholds are everywhere, and we are creating them! 1 Corinthians 13:6 TPT says, “Love finds no delight in what is wrong.” Really think about that. We are called to love. That is our purpose and our mission. Love finds no delight in what is wrong. That means when we are living according to the way God has called us to live, we don't happily point out and talk about what is wrong. We don't joyfully retell the story about what is wrong or who is wrong. Why are we making our conversations all about what is wrong? We have to stop that! Find something better to talk about. My goodness, there has to be something better to talk about. And here's the thing … someone just has to turn the conversation and redirect it to what is right … I'm pretty sure God has asked YOU to be that person. I often make it a daily goal to “take no delight in what is wrong”. I can fall into the trap of watching something bad unfold and secretly enjoy the show. I caught myself just yesterday watching an angry old man on the train to Rome causing a ruckus for everyone around him. It was delighting to my eyes like entertainment. I wanted to hear the fighting. I wanted others to get involved. I was literally delighting in what was wrong, and that simply IS NOT LOVE. The enemy had a little opening to my heart and actively began working on my dislike of this human who I didn't even know. My facial expressions told everyone else on that train that I was with them in their anger towards an old man who was clearly having a very bad day. That's not right. That's not God's way. In fact, I'm just actively doing the devil's work for him. I'm part of the problem. Paul gives us the solution earlier in Ephesians 4:2, “Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love.” Can we just make allowance for each other’s faults? Can we be tolerant with one another? Can we remember that sometimes people have bad days? Can we remember that some people are carrying heavy burdens within that we know nothing about? Can we assume the best instead of the worst and allow space for our differences without anger? This isn't just for strangers on a train, this is for the people we live with. Can we just allow space for rough mornings, overwhelmed minds, and poor choices of words sometimes? Can we give grace where they are wrong without making it all about us? You know what that does – that slams the door on the enemy. If his foot was trying to slip in there, his toes got smashed! The devil gets no foothold because my anger isn't necessary and it's simply not allowed here in the things that ultimately don't even matter. But when it does matter – and sometimes it does – what's important for us to remember is SET A TIME LIMIT on that anger. Don't let the anger grow and fester. If you keep replaying the offense, the resentment will grow and bitterness will take root. And that bitterness is like the angry grapevine that attaches to you and creates destruction. It just won't let go. It will wrap around you and force its way in. The foothold given to the devil becomes his stronghold. And if he has a stronghold on your heart, then you become the angry bitter woman you never wanted to be – and the woman no one wants to be around. Clinging to anger helps the enemy accomplish his work. He is the accuser, the divider, the destroyer, the condemner … and we partner with him in our anger and begin doing his work for him. We accuse instead of restore. We divide instead of reconcile. We wound instead of heal. We rehearse offenses rather than extend grace. This isn't love … this is the enemy's trap and we fall right in and become his slaves in his nasty work. When you feel angry, deal with it quickly. Don't nurture it. Don't let it settle it. Set a time limit and when the time is up, let it go. Your heart NEEDS YOU TO LET IT GO NOW. Before the sun goes down, let it go. Collecting resources can feel like responsible planning, especially when you are a multiple prep teacher with no curriculum map, no textbook, and a folder full of standards. But more saved ideas do not always mean more clarity. Sometimes they become another pile of decisions waiting for your teacher brain. This builds on the planning series so far: reducing summer overplanning, choosing the first unit, and naming the gap between standards and curriculum. Now the focus is the trap secondary teachers fall into when building from scratch: mistaking collecting for building.Teacher planning is not the same as saving slide decks, Pinterest ideas, or TPT activities. Resources can support instruction, but they cannot replace a lesson flow, a unit goal, or a structure students can move through. For a multiple prep teacher, resources add to workload when there is no system for deciding where they belong. The shift is gently rebellious but necessary: stop asking, “What else can I find?” and start asking, “What do students need to be able to do?” That question turns resource hunting into purposeful planning and protects teacher productivity because you stop opening new tabs and start using what fits. These secondary teacher tips are simple, not shallow. Build the unit goal first. Create the lesson flow before filling it in. Use a repeatable structure so your resources have a place to land. Before saving one more idea, check whether you already have something useful. For elective teachers building courses without a roadmap, the answer is not more materials. Often, it is a clearer structure for what is already in your drive. That is how a multiple prep teacher stops drowning in options and starts building something teachable.Sign up for the Unit Planning Lab Waitlist if you are ready to stop collecting and start creating a unit structure that makes tomorrow lighter.Too many preps and not enough time? Your email open rates aren't dropping because your audience stopped caring. A lot of the time, your emails are simply not getting a fair shot in the Primary inbox. I'm talking about the quiet shift so many teacher entrepreneurs are seeing right now: AI written emails that look “perfect” to us, but look suspicious to Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo spam filters that are also powered by AI. I walk through what I noticed when I used ChatGPT to generate a big chunk of my TPT email marketing, how both of my audiences started dipping at the same time, and why returning to human written emails helped my open rates bounce back. We dig into deliverability basics that actually matter for Teachers Pay Teachers sellers: inbox tab placement, sender reputation, and the engagement signals that influence where your message lands. Then we get practical. I share how to keep AI in your workflow without letting it replace your voice: use it for brainstorming subject lines, hooks, and outlines, then write the email yourself with real stories, specificity, and even a little messiness. We also talk about optimizing for engagement instead of “perfect delivery,” including simple ways to earn replies, run a reply based freebie, and break predictable patterns that filters can flag. If you want more actionable, step by step email marketing strategies for TPT sellers, subscribe to the podcast, share this with a teacher friend who's struggling with opens, and leave a review so more creators can find it. What do you do when you're standing in the middle of a war you didn't choose and a wilderness you don't understand? In this episode, we enter the honest space of discussing what do when you're feeling stuck and still choosing to stand by faith. Anchored in **Ezekiel 37:1–2**, we explore what it means to look at the “valley of dry bones” in our own lives and name how barren it feels, without pretending it's fine or rushing to fix it. If you're tired, confused, or in a very real war (inside or out) and wondering how to keep believing, this conversation is for you. Ezekiel 37:1–2 (NIV) “The hand of the Lord was on me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry.” We encourage you to journal or take some notes with us: 1. “the middle of stuck” - Describe what “the middle of your stuck” feels like: disoriented, exhausted, no clear map. - Normalize that even people of deep faith experience this. - Are you tempted to either numb out or over-spiritualize pain instead of being honest? 2. Walking through the valley with Ezekiel (Ezekiel 37:1–2) - God doesn't rush Ezekiel past the valley; He sets him **in the middle** of it. - The bones are “very dry”: this can point us to a long-term disappointment, not a fresh wound. - How God sometimes invites us to **see clearly** what's broken before He speaks life to it. - Reflection: “Where are the dry-bone places in your life right now?” 3. What it looks like to stand by faith in a war zone: - Faith is not denying reality; it's choosing where you anchor your trust. - Practical ways to “stand” when you feel like collapsing: - Say one honest prayer: “God, I don't see it, but I choose to stay with You here” - Do one small act of obedience or care today (call, rest, ask for help) - Write one truth you hold onto when your feelings shout the opposite - Describe the difference between faith as performance vs. faith as relationship. 4. Holding on without having it all together (Hebrews 10:23 TPT): - “Cling tightly to the hope that lives within us” when everything outside feels shaky. - The focus is not our grip, but the **faithfulness of the One** who promised. - How to let this verse meet you in the middle of anxiety, grief, or confusion. - Take a moment with God to imagine what it looks like to cling to hope just for **today**, not forever. Friend, remember today that dry bones are seen, known, and not the end of our story! “God, You see every valley, every battlefield, every place in us that feels like dry bones. We bring You the parts of our stories that feel lost, delayed, or too far gone. Teach us how to stand by faith when we don't feel strong, and help us cling tightly to the hope that lives within us, because You always keep Your promises. Breathe Your Spirit into the dry places, and remind us today that this is not the end. In Jesus' name, amen.” 1. After this episode, take a moment to name one ‘dry-bone' area in your life. Write it down, and then write Hebrews 10:23: “So now we must cling tightly to the hope that lives within us, knowing that God always keeps his promises!” (TPT) under it. Let that be your quiet act of standing by faith in the middle of stuck.2. If this resonated with your own valley or war, share this episode with someone else who feels lost right now. We are praying for you!3. There's a reason the same explanation keeps showing up in every staff meeting, every training, every conversation about struggling students. It feels good.Problem is- It wasn't built on evidence.Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs became one of the most widely accepted frameworks in education without ever being meaningfully tested the way we use it. In this episode, we go back to where the pyramid actually came from, walk through what the research has (and hasn't) found, and take a hard look at why it spread anyway.Because if the foundation isn't solid, it doesn't matter how good your intentions are. You're still building on it.Referred to in this episode:Ep. 106, "TPT's Dirty Truths & Why You Need an Evidence-Base"********Join our new Skool for School Counselors community ********Want support with real-world strategies that actually work on your campus? Your inbox can make or break your Teachers Pay Teachers income, and most of the damage comes from a few fixable habits. We're digging into five email marketing mistakes that quietly drain revenue for teacher entrepreneurs and TPT sellers, even when you have great resources and a solid audience. If you've ever gone a week without sending a newsletter, worried you're annoying your subscribers, or stared at low open rates wondering what happened, this conversation gives you a clean, practical reset. We talk about why consistency matters more than perfection and what to do when life derails your plan (including a simple “double up” strategy to get back on track). We also challenge the idea that email equals inconvenience. When your message is built around helping teachers feel supported, seen, and equipped, you're not spamming anyone, you're building community and trust that compounds over time. Then we get tactical: why avoiding sales emails is a costly mistake, how a paid teaching resource can be genuine value when it saves time and lowers stress, and how often to make a clear offer. We also cover subject lines as the gatekeeper to better email open rates, plus an easy way to test and improve them. Finally, we share a smart approach to resending to non openers, including how to tweak subject lines, adjust the email body, and test send times so you reach more readers without looking spammy. If you want actionable email marketing for TPT sellers, press play and take notes. Every experienced teacher remembers their first year. There was the exhaustion, the second-guessing, and the feeling that classroom management was something everyone else understood except you. That's why it's so valuable for beginning teachers to learn from those who have been in the classroom for years. In my opinion, there's no better veteran teacher to learn from than Melissa Antinoff. Melissa is a career educator and the creator behind "The Well-Seasoned Teacher". Melissa joins the episode to share her best classroom management advice for beginning teachers, along with practical strategies for navigating today's classrooms. She also addresses some of the biggest challenges teachers face today, including the growing gap in students' non-academic skills and how teachers can intentionally support those needs. A 10% discount is nice. A discount you set once and let run while you teach is even better.I'm Lauren Fulton, and I'm breaking down the newest Teachers Pay Teachers discount features and the simple ways I'd use them to bring more buyers into a TPT store. I walk you step by step through where to find Promotions and Discounts, what each option does, and how I think about setting percentages based on buyer intent. The new first-time buyer discount is a big deal for converting TPT search traffic because it gives brand-new shoppers a reason to trust you fast and make that first purchase. We also talk through the two familiar tools, follower discounts and abandoned cart discounts, and why they work when teachers are busy and buying in real time. I share how these promos can encourage store follows (so you can reach people again through Notes to Followers) and how an abandoned cart email can pull a would-be sale back across the finish line without you lifting a finger. Then we get honest about the downside sellers worry about: pricing and fees. If you sell lots of low-priced resources, a discount can drop an item under the $3 threshold and add extra transaction costs. I explain how to think through that risk, when I would run discounts for short windows, and why I'd avoid inflating prices just to “cancel out” a deal.If you want more sustainable TPT marketing, hit play, take one action today, and let the system keep working. What if the most powerful academic shift you could make during your day wasn't a new curriculum, but a change of scenery? #810 What if your lesson plans could pay the bills? In this episode hosted by Kirsten Tyrrel, we're joined by Lindsay Bowden, a former high school math teacher turned top 1% seller on Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT). Lindsay shares how she replaced her teaching salary by selling classroom resources online — without fancy designs or tons of tech. She walks us through how TPT works, what sells best, how to find gaps in the market, and how teachers can start monetizing what they're already creating. Whether you're a full-time educator or a former teacher with a folder full of forgotten worksheets, this is a practical and inspiring roadmap to turning your skills into income! (Original Air Date - 7/9/25) What we discuss with Lindsay: + Replacing a teacher salary on TPT + What sells best on Teachers Pay Teachers + How to find low-competition keywords + Creating product bundles and full curriculums + Using Canva and PowerPoint to build resources + SEO tips and listing optimization + Why free products help drive traffic + Selling to schools and using purchase orders + Building an email list from TPT buyers + Other monetization paths for teachers Thank you, Lindsay! When you boil down the essentials of so much writing, what you get is the need for vivid, original detail. In a college essay, the story comes alive when a student goes way past the generalities and gives specific examples. In an argument essay, the intricate examples and counterargument that is explained with depth makes the most impact. In any kind of research, carefully exploring the core of the ideas with the most interesting possible language will hook and hold the reader's attention. And in narrative - as we've seen, eminently transferable to other areas of writing - it's the details. I took a copywriting class once where they boiled this concept down to a sandwich. Never say someone ate a sandwich. Say it was a pastrami on rye with extra mustard and a sheaf of pickles. Say it was a PB & J positively oozing J. Say it was a double-decker smash burger with Jimmy's special sauce and extra crispy sweet potato fries. See the difference? But here's the thing. When you tell a kid they need more details, that doesn't exactly come alive for THEM. You need more details in your request for details. They need to SEE and FEEL what you mean, just like you need to see and feel the world of their writing. So today on the pod, let's dive into six strategies you can use with your students to help improve their narrative writing detail. Your students may already have some of these down, but others may be new, or areas that will help with something causing them to struggle. As with any set of writing strategies, teach what they actually need. Apply it to their current writing projects. Every day, teachers walk into buildings shaped by policies they didn't choose. They're asked to function while understaffed, under-resourced, and held to expectations that often feel impossible to meet. Today's episode is raw, real, and an honest conversation about what teachers are actually experiencing in their classrooms. Because in reality, most teachers are in survival mode. So in this episode, I offer support for teachers trying to survive in a broken school system and share practical ways to navigate inclusion without burning out of the profession. Plus, I share strategies to help regulate your nervous system and begin focusing on what you can control in the classroom. What if the secret to student engagement wasn't new curriculum, more resources, updated materials, or the teacher entertaining at the front of the room all day, but a sprinkle of surprise? A predictable classroom may feel safe, but a classroom infused with purposeful novelty feels electric. In this episode, I'm sharing how you can implement novelty in your classroom in a way that supports you rather than drains your energy. Plus, I share a simple framework you can use right away to spark an immediate shift in your students' engagement.
