Through sharing her unique tools and techniques, she shows people how they can change their subconscious programming and limiting beliefs that hold them back in their life, dissolve generational patterns, grow their confidence, how to get back in touch with their bodies, and most importantly, how to take the abstract spiritual and turn it into the everyday practical. She is now a HeartMath certified Add Heart Facilitator, Certified in Neuroscience for personal development online through Udemy, certified SOMA breathwork instructor, and an advanced student of Dr.Joe Dispenza's teachings. Today I talk with Em Hollis, a women's empowerment coach and breathwork facilitator. She's passionate about sharing her story of going from a depressed, pain-pill addicted, stressed-out, insecure, self-proclaimed people-pleaser mom, wife, and business owner to living a life of freedom both internally and externally in all areas. Listen in to hear how Em helps people live life beyond their limits, get back in touch with their bodies, and connect with their higher selves. Topics We Discuss: [2:37] The concept of breath being a tool for transformation or spiritual growth goes back thousands of years, but only now are more people becoming aware of it. [8:25] What drives Em's work is that breathwork allows people to connect with and feel their souls, their higher beings and selves, while also simultaneously feeling their bodies. Bridging both of those worlds is where the magic can occur. [13:33] Just learning how to extend one's exhale, which is supposed to help with relaxation, can actually trigger panic in some people. Many are so used to looking out for threats and being in that hypervigilant fight or flight state that a parasympathetic response can feel unsafe. [20:35] We've all disconnected so much from our bodies. Our breath is the only thing that keeps us alive and yet we're so disconnected from it. Em explored meditation for years but felt there was a missing piece for integration: breath was that piece. [28:37] You don't need to know where an emotion is coming from, your breath will bring it up. That's because when you make breathwork a part of your practice, it triggers your limbic brain and people start having access to more memories. [30:24] Em leads us in a five minute rhythmic breathing session. It makes me feel buzzy and clear-headed. That's because when doing breathwork, you're going into a parasympathetic response, and when we relax more we can more easily tune into those frequencies. [38:22] Em does a free breathwork ceremony on the first Sunday of every month. Follow her on Eventbrite to sign up! FOLLOW EM HOLLIS: Find Em on her website or on Instagram. Em Hollis "“If you only knew the life you get to have, you would be running out that door.” Those are the words that changed Em's life forever. After a very dysfunctional 10 year marriage, a heavy pain pill addiction, and years of limiting beliefs about herself, she was ready to let go of the old to create the new. It wouldn't only be for herself, but all the women she would help along the way that were stuck in abusive or dysfunctional relationships, struggled with addiction, or were ready to take their life and power back. After returning home from an advanced meditation retreat and experiencing a profound awakening, she walked out the door that day and never looked back. In a very short amount of time she was able to free herself of a 10 year opiate addiction without traditional rehab, met the love of her life, created a business helping others forge their own spiritual journey, and more importantly, living the life she always knew she was meant to. Em Hollis, blogger and soon to be author, is now very passionate about sharing her story to show both women and men that it is possible to let go of their own limiting beliefs and live a life they never thought possible. Through telling her story and sharing her tools and techniques, she shows people how to live a life beyond the self imposed limits we all create in our lives and how to get in touch with their true self. In her blog she writes in depth of her journey, where she came from, and where she is now. She is now a HeartMath certified Add Heart Facilitator, Certified in Neuroscience for personal development online through Udemy, SOMA breath instructor, and an advanced student of Dr.Joe Dispenza. After having her own deeply impactful experiences with breath work, she now guides others as a breath work coach, creating her own breath work style and meditations and teaches how very important breath work's role and heart coherence is in truly impacting your life.
