What if better sleep starts with addressing what's happening inside your body? In this episode of The Healthy Sleep Revolution Podcast, Dr. Meghna Dassani sits down with dentist-turned-peptide coach Dr. Aimee Russo-Mounger to explore peptides, inflammation, cortisol, healing, and their potential role in supporting better sleep and overall wellness. After 28 years in dentistry, Dr. Aimee retired from clinical practice in 2026 and shifted her focus to peptide therapy and coaching for high-achieving women. She shares what led her down this path, how peptides work, and why she believes addressing the underlying causes of inflammation, stress, and poor sleep can be an important part of a broader health strategy. Together, Dr. Meghna and Dr. Aimee discuss: What peptides are and how they communicate with our cells The difference between natural and synthetic peptides How inflammation and cortisol can affect sleep, recovery, and overall health Peptides that may support relaxation, restorative sleep, and inflammation management Why peptides should not replace evidence-based treatment for sleep apnea, such as CPAP or oral appliance therapy The connection between chronic stress, the central nervous system, and restorative sleep Why high-achieving women and busy moms may be particularly vulnerable to chronic stress and burnout How Dr. Aimee approaches peptide therapy through personalized coaching The role of medical oversight when using peptide therapies Why addressing the foundation of health may be more effective than continually adding another "band-aid" Dr. Aimee also shares her own experience with stress, cortisol, weight changes, and the transition from practicing dentistry to helping women reclaim their energy, clarity, and vitality. Disclaimer: This episode is for educational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice. Peptide therapies may not be appropriate for everyone. Always consult an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before starting any new treatment. About Dr. Aimee Russo-Mounger Dr. Aimee Russo-Mounger has spent 28 years in medicine as a Doctor of Dental Surgery — and today she brings that same clinical rigor into an entirely different mission: helping high-achieving women reclaim their energy, clarity, and vitality from the inside out. Certified in Peptide Therapy through The Empowered Academy and an affiliate of MAKE Wellness, Dr. Aimee founded the Powerhouse Peptide Method, a science-backed, faith-rooted approach designed to help women feel like themselves again. As a speaker, coach, and host of The Dr. Aimee Podcast, she brings decades of clinical experience and a deeply personal conviction that true longevity starts with caring for the whole person — body, mind, and soul. She reviews evidence showing TENS can substantially reduce reported labor pain, allow mobility, and may shorten labor compared with epidurals, while avoiding common IV pain medication side effects like nausea and drowsiness. She also covers use in pregnancy for musculoskeletal pain (avoid abdomen and neck), and postpartum use including on the belly for uterine cramps and for C-section recovery (pads above/below incision associated with lower pain scores, faster bowel function return, and improved recovery). René's career has taken him from international tax law and global banking to senior leadership roles with organizations including UBS, Deutsche Bank, and Citibank, where he worked at the intersection of family business, governance, wealth, and generational legacy.René shares what years inside boardrooms and family enterprises taught him about the human side of leadership: unspoken tension, trust, succession, identity, emotional dynamics, difficult conversations, and the decisions that determine whether a legacy grows or fractures. We also explore ideas from his book The Elephant in the Family Room, which examines the emotional forces operating beneath the surface of family businesses, along with his forthcoming book Invisible Capital: Building the Family Enterprise of Tomorrow, scheduled for October 2026.This conversation goes beyond business strategy. It's about developing the courage to address what everyone sees but no one wants to discuss, becoming a stronger leader, and building something that can outlive you.Because sometimes the most important conversation in the room is the one nobody is having.https://www.renesonneveld.com/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/i-am-refocused-radio--2671113/support.Subscribe now at YouTube.com/@RefocusedNetworkThank you for your time.

Chris Michaels, of the show with his name, joins us for a packed friday broadcast that goes beyond the supposed free-minded alternative commentary of world events. Find Chris @CMichaelsShow on X and on Spotify https://t.co/abBhfo5YqlTonight: From personal experience, Ryan and Chris dissect their first and secondhand accounts of local politics being filled with literal drugs and sex. Did Mike Huckabee finally realize how evil Israeli settlers are when he called them “terrorists” or is this simply PR to placate the base? The US bans Central Bank Digital Currency and immediately the White House pushes the crypto firm World Liberty Financial, and Stable Coin. From Tom Alexandrovich to Michael Caruso, the “tickle monster” who was just arrested on child sex abuse charges, disgust over pedophilia is apparently also antisemitic. While Q had you chasing spiral designs in manga or rock paintings, people like Tom get flown back to Israel. Rabbi Shmuley refers to his enemies as reptilians, while Norm Coleman says “the masters of the universe are Jews,”and AIPAC makes a video claiming that Jews are human like the rest of us.  Lastly, when the next Führer comes to power, it is highly likely they will be a combination of Trump and Mamdani. It appears the overall theme here is that every active opposition and resistance is kosher approved. Everything is sex, drugs and a rock and a hard place — what is real and what isn't.  *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. If you want an ad-free experience, subscribe below.

You would never call it worship. You'd call it being responsible. But look at what you organize your life around, what you reach for the second the ground shifts, the thing you cannot fall asleep without having settled. You have built an altar to certainty, and you bow at it every time fear whispers that if you could just get control of this, you'd finally be safe. It isn't faith. It's control wearing faith's clothing, and underneath it is a version of you who learned a long time ago that holding everything together was the only way not to get hurt. Dr. Alison Cook joins me for a conversation that goes straight underneath that pattern. A therapist, host of The Best of You podcast, and author of the new book The Secure Soul, Alison has spent two decades helping people tell the difference between security and certainty, and see why the two were never the same thing. We talk about what it means to be held by a God whose first gift is not a map but His presence, about the control we mistake for faith and the caretaking we mistake for love, and about the wilderness seasons that strip away every scaffolding we built to feel safe so that something truer can finally hold us. If you are the strong one, the capable one, quietly white-knuckling a life that looks impressive from the outside and feels hollow underneath, this conversation will not hand you a better way to manage it. It will ask you to take your hands off the thing you have been worshiping. To let yourself be seen before you have earned it, loved before you have fixed it, held before you have figured any of it out. The security you are aching for is real. It was never on the other side of control; it is found in the presence of the One who has never once asked you to carry it alone, whose yoke is easy and whose burden is light. Guest Bio Dr. Alison Cook is a therapist and the host of the top-ranked The Best of You podcast, where she helps people heal past wounds, develop a strong sense of self, and experience a God who is for them. She earned her BA at Dartmouth College, her MA at Denver Seminary, and her PhD at the University of Denver, where she specialized in integrating psychology and theology. Profound loss can break us… but it can also awaken a purpose powerful enough to transform our lives and the lives of others. Certified wellness coach and holistic mental health advocate Miriam Putnam joins Dr. Dan for a deeply personal conversation about resilience, stress, self-advocacy, and caring for the whole person: body, mind, and soul. Drawing from her family's pioneering legacy and her painful experience of losing her mother after years of mental health struggles, Miriam explains how she turned heartbreak into a mission to help others find clarity, balance, and greater freedom from stress. Miriam comes from a family connected to the legacies of Crayola Crayons, Putnam Publishing, and aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart. Growing up surrounded by stories of innovation and courage taught her to challenge the status quo… but personal tragedy taught her that wealth, influence, and access do not guarantee happiness or wellbeing. Miriam shares how her mother's experiences with mental health treatment inspired more than 25 years of advocacy and exploration into holistic wellness. She and Dr. Dan discuss the importance of asking questions, listening to the body, investigating potential physical contributors to emotional distress, and becoming an active participant in your own care. The conversation also explores Miriam's approach to reducing stress by identifying its roots rather than simply managing its symptoms. She introduces the concept of “soul health,” explains how boundaries protect our emotional energy, and demonstrates her Mind Muscle Exercise, a practical technique that uses the senses to reconnect with a positive memory and shift your emotional state. This episode is an inspiring reminder that meaningful change begins with self-awareness, courage, and the willingness to consider new possibilities. How Miriam transformed personal loss into purpose and advocacy. Why physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness should be considered together. How stress may reveal itself through disrupted sleep, irritability, disconnection, and strained relationships. Why asking questions and advocating for yourself are essential parts of navigating healthcare. How healthy boundaries help protect and replenish your emotional energy. Why living in alignment with your purpose supports “soul health.” How to use a positive memory to exercise your “mind muscle” and interrupt a stressful thought pattern. 1. Resilience is developed through adversity.Resilience does not mean avoiding painful experiences. It means finding the inner strength, support, and determination to move through them and continue building a meaningful life. 2. Look beneath the symptoms.Stress and emotional distress can have multiple contributing factors. Miriam encourages people to work with qualified professionals, ask questions, and consider their physical health alongside their mental and emotional wellbeing. 3. Pay attention to your early warning signs.Changes in sleep, a shorter temper, increasing anxiety, strained relationships, and feeling disconnected from yourself may signal that stress is beginning to overwhelm your current coping resources. 4. Protect and intentionally replenish your energy.Healthy boundaries are not about blaming or rejecting others. They are about recognizing your agency, limiting harmful patterns, and scheduling activities that restore your energy and sense of connection. 5. Strengthen your “mind muscle.”Choose a genuinely happy memory and bring it back to life through sensory details. Recall what you saw, heard, smelled, felt, and experienced emotionally. Practicing this regularly can help redirect your attention and reconnect you with calm, gratitude, and hope. For more information visit MiriamPutnam.org and follow @miriam_putnam_ on Instagram. Certified nurse midwife Roxanne explains that increased watery, slippery vaginal discharge in pregnancy (leukorrhea) is usually normal, driven by estrogen and progesterone, and helps protect against infection and form the mucus plug. She outlines red flags and common end-of-pregnancy confusion: discharge is typically clear-to-milky with little odor, while amniotic fluid is often clear/pink-tinged, has a distinct sweet/musty smell, and can soak a pad; providers can confirm with tests (ferning, nitrazine, protein testing). She reviews yeast (thick, white “cottage cheese,” irritation, painful sex, possible cramping) treated with antifungal cream, and bacterial vaginosis (thin/gray, fishy odor, linked with preterm labor) often treated with antibiotics. She also covers STI-related discharge (e.g., frothy yellow-green trichomonas) and prevention tips like probiotics/fermented foods, hydration, stable blood sugars, breathable cotton underwear, avoiding scented soaps and douching, and discussing other remedies with a provider.————

Chuck from HR Stories and leadership expert John Thalheimer break down Gallup's 2025 State of the Global Workplace findings and reveal what they actually mean for 2026.The headline number is hard to ignore: global employee engagement fell to 20%, costing the world an estimated $10 trillion in lost productivity. But the real story is not just disengagement, but rather what is driving it, from overwhelmed managers and broken processes to unclear priorities, poor systems, and workplaces that ask people to care without giving them a reason to.Chuck and John unpack why engagement is a result, not a goal you can simply demand. They dig into the manager decline, the emotional burden of leadership, and why so many organizations keep promoting high performers into roles they were never trained to handle. You'll hear why “pizza party” perks do not fix culture, why agency matters more than inspirational posters, and why meaningful choice, contribution, and progress are the real ingredients of better work. This is The Energy to Heal, your resource for all things Splankna, the faith-based inner healing modality that will help you achieve emotional freedom. In this episode, Laura Milliken explores one of the greatest invitations of the Christian life: living free from the opinions, expectations, and approval of other people. So many of us unknowingly build our emotional stability around circumstances we can't control—whether it's how people treat us, whether they approve of us, or whether life unfolds the way we hoped. But Jesus offers something radically different. In this episode, Laura unpacks what it means to live from an inside-out peace that is rooted in Christ rather than external circumstances. Drawing from Scripture and practical examples, she explains how the fruits of the Spirit naturally grow from intimacy with God—not from trying harder—and how believers can begin breaking free from people-pleasing, fear of man, and emotional reactivity. In this episode, you'll learn: Why the fruits of the Spirit are evidence of abiding in Christ Paul's secret to finding contentment in every circumstance How to stop depending on external validation for your peace Why people-pleasing keeps us emotionally stuck What it means to live with an "Audience of One" Practical ways to respond to criticism, disrespect, and difficult people How Scripture renews the mind and reshapes emotional patterns Why true freedom is found in surrendering control to Christ If you've ever felt emotionally hijacked by other people's opinions, this episode will help you discover what it looks like to live with a peace that cannot be stolen.

Send us Fan MailOn this episode of Mondays Down Under, Lee Salisbury and Nick are joined by AIS Water's Lee Moore and Technical Director Blake for a deep dive into commercial saltwater chlorination.AIS Water has worked in salt chlorination for approximately 35 years, developing systems for everything from swim schools and splash parks to resorts, 50-meter competition pools, coastal pools, and enormous lagoons containing millions of liters of water. The conversation explores why more commercial aquatic facilities are moving toward onsite chlorine generation—and why their success depends on selecting actual commercial equipment, correctly sizing the system, and maintaining proper water chemistry. The three major benefits are convenience, safety, and long-term cost savings. Generating chlorine onsite can dramatically reduce the handling, storage, transportation, and manual transfer of liquid or granular chlorine. It can also reduce the risks associated with chemical spills, damaged dosing lines, incorrect chemical mixing, and chlorine gas entering an occupied pool. But not every “commercial salt system” is truly commercial. The guests discuss facilities that attempted to meet massive chlorine demand by plumbing together banks of residential chlorinators—including one installation containing an astonishing 95 residential units. Besides creating a maintenance nightmare, these improvised systems can introduce excessive head loss, restrict circulation, shorten cell life, and still fail to satisfy the pool's chlorine demand.Proper sizing requires far more than knowing the pool's volume. AIS Water considers actual peak bather load, water temperature, turnover rate, sunlight exposure, cyanuric acid use, environmental conditions, operating hours, and the facility's location. Two pools of identical size—even pools located only a suburb apart—may require substantially different chlorine production capacities. And just when you thought pool chlorination could not get any stranger, the discussion turns to horse pools, seal enclosures, sea lions, natural salt contributions from swimmers, and one exceptionally important unanswered question:Just how much chlorine does a sea lion prefer? You will have to return next Monday for the conclusion. In this episode: Why commercial aquatic facilities are adopting onsite chlorine generation  The safety risks associated with storing and manually transporting chlorine  How salt chlorination can reduce long-term operating costs  Why an electrolytic cell is a consumable—not a failed chlorinator  How commercial-grade anodes can provide significantly longer cell life  The difference between residential and commercial chlorination equipment  What happens when dozens of residential chlorinators are installed in one system  How excessive head loss can compromise circulation and turnover  Why peak bather load is critical when sizing a chlorinator  How sunlight, shade, temperature, rainfall, and surrounding buildings affect chlorine demand  Commercial systems ranging from low-salinity water to direct seawater  The unusual challenges of chlorinating pools for horses, seals, and sea lions Guests: Lee Moore, Sales and Marketing, AIS Water  Blake, Technical Director, AIS Water Hosted by Lee Salisbury and Nick on Mondays Down Under, part of the Talking Pools Podcast network.US certifications for AIS Commercial products. Certified to the Highest International Standards – AIS commercial chlorination systems are independently certified to NSF/ANSI 50 for swimming pool equipment safety and performance, UL 1081 for electrical safety, and are approved for installation in Los Angeles County, one of the world's most stringent regulatory environments. These certifications provide independent assurance that AIS products meet rigorous standards for quality, reliability, and safety, giving consultants, operators, and asset owners confidence in specifying AIS for demanding commercial aquatic facilities. Episode DescriptionNumber 31 on the countdown. First zoo animal on Prozac. JD is joined by Duxoop from Toledo — broadcasting from the actual birthplace of Gus the polar bear — plus Andrew from Winnipeg and Dave from Montreal to dig into one of the most quietly beloved songs in the Hip catalogue. The panel gets into the Adam Kasper production that makes In Between Evolution sound the way it does, Rob Baker's untouchable outro solo, the Hip Museum's wonderfully unhinged George W. Bush theory, and the wordplay hiding in plain sight — because it was never what's troubling Gus. It's what's troubling us.Fair warning: this one gets emotional. Duxoop tells us what the lyrics did to him last year from a nursing home wheelchair, and Dave tells us about his friend Al — nickname Gus — and the cover band he's fronting at Al's memorial this Friday. Then the whole thing derails beautifully into a full inventory of every animal in the Hip discography.Explicit language. Recorded live on YouTube. On the PanelJD — hostDuxoop from Toledo — self-described part polar bear; born-in-Toledo credentials, same as GusAndrew from Winnipeg — arrived with facts and a News Radio shirt; host of Soup Full of RadioDave from Montreal — saw the Hip in Central Park; frontman of brand-new Hip cover band Colonel MustardTale of the TapePulled from The Hip Handbook, which amalgamates HipBase and setlist.fm data. Album In Between Evolution (2004) Producer Adam Kasper, recorded in Seattle Single Third single from the record Countdown position No. 31 on the Top 40 Times played live 327 First played October 27, 2003 Last played August 18, 2016 — the Ottawa show As an opener Once As an encore Five times Poll Results Love it 52% Like it 36% Tolerate it 10% Skip it 1% Never heard of it 1% Possibly the most varied — and most indecisive — poll spread of the series so far. Duxoop's verdict: "That's crazy to me. These numbers should be way more lopsided toward the top."Live Version FeaturedOttawa, 2004 — the Grey Cup halftime show. Andrew remembers watching it live and everyone around him asking why the band was opening the biggest gig of the year with a brand-new song. (They went into Courage right after.)What We Talked AboutThe Album That Everyone Slept OnIn Between Evolution debuted at No. 1 in Canada on roughly 22,500 first-week copies — then got knocked off the top by Avril Lavigne's new album.Certified platinum in Canada that September. Dave notes it was one of the last Hip records to move real units.Where does this song sit in the career arc? The panel lands on "the end of the middle" rather than the dawn of the final third.Andrew's take: Gus is the first song on the record that sounds like the Hip you already knew — you lean back in the chair. Heaven Is a Better Place Today, Summer's Killing Us and Vaccination Scar are louder neighbours, so Gus hides in the first five.Adam Kasper and the Seattle SoundAndrew looked up Kasper's credits and it clicked: Soundgarden's Down on the Upside, Queens of the Stone Age's Songs for the Deaf, Pearl Jam's self-titled (the avocado one), Foo Fighters' One by One.Same studio was hosting the Big Fish and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind soundtracks around the time this record was being made. The panel agrees Gus has a "weirdly familiar, warm Hip sound" — it could have sat on Day for Night with different production, or on Music at Work. Maybe it was on the shelf a while.Rob Baker's OutroUniversal agreement: whichever live version you pull up, Baker is on fire. "A real showcase for him."Dave's sharpest observation of the night — Gord never rants over this solo the way he does over others. It always gets its space, and that may be the only ad-lib that separates the live song from the record.Gus HimselfBorn 1985 at the Toledo Zoo, died August 27, 2013. A 700-pound icon of the Central Park Zoo, seen by over 20 million visitors.Began swimming obsessively — up to 12 hours a day — in the 1990s. Reporters called him neurotic, depressed and flaky, and he became a symbol of the stress of living in New York. The first zoo animal in history to be treated with Prozac. Also got a jacuzzi and, at one point, two girlfriends. Duxoop: "Why is he the one on Prozac and not me?"Gord wrote the song in 2004, nine years before Gus died — so this wasn't an obituary. He'd seen the bear and then done the second-sourcing, as Gord always did. There's a children's book called What's Worrying Gus? The True Story of a Big City Bear. On Amazon, the cover has Gus on a therapist's couch. The Toledo ConnectionThe Hip played the Toledo Zoo twice in the '90s — where Gus was born. When they played Toledo in 2004, Gus was the show opener. The stats say it only ever opened once, so that was absolutely on purpose. The Bush TheoryThe Hip Museum reads Gus as partly about George W. Bush and the invasion of Iraq. Andrew read the paragraph aloud; it describes the two as "lovable, loutish, and incredibly accomplished guys… not bad for a pair of dudes with limited mental capacity."JD's verdict: lots of love for the Hip Museum, but that one's a reach.Gus / UsDave's thesis: he doesn't hear a bear at all. "It's not what's troubling Gus. It's what's troubling us." He's been on that line for twenty years.JD points out the Gordism that makes it work — dropping the G, so "troublin' us" and "troubling Gus" are phonetically the same thing.Duxoop extends it: we've all watched a zoo animal pace or swim figure eights, and that should be troubling us.On the lyrics generally: Gord's word-smithery rewards straining to hear it, and the panel confesses to mumbling through parts for two decades. Compared to Nautical Disaster — all story, no chorus, no pattern — Gus is manageable, but only just.Duxoop's StoryLast year, when the countdown hit No. 31, Duxoop was three months into a nursing home stay with medical issues. Twenty-odd years earlier he'd started going to karaoke — big, scary-looking, socially awkward, mistaken for the bouncer. Now he was in his 60s, in a wheelchair, and the line landed like a ton of bricks: old and grey, and no one's afraid anymore. He sang it at the nursing home. "I don't think I've ever sung a Hip song with more feeling than I do with Gus." Grace, Too he can't fake — he feels like a schmuck trying to match Gord's intensity. Gus he doesn't fake. And after a week of thinking about it for this episode, he made a bold statement: Gus is now his favourite Tragically Hip song, over Grace, Too.Dave's Story — Al, Gus, and Colonel MustardDave's friend Al Morton died suddenly last November. They bonded over the Hip and golf at Dave's club. Al's nickname was Gus.In their fantasy football pick'em league, Al's picks stayed on the board for the rest of the NFL season. "A real lump in my throat."Al's memorial is this Friday at the Dunany Country Club in Wentworth, Quebec — halfway between Ottawa and Montreal. Ashes scattered around the course in the morning; speeches and a gathering at night, billed as his "after par-ty."The family asked for seven or eight Hip songs. Dave and friends have twenty ready, after two nights jamming at his buddy Chris's place. He made them learn Gus — he couldn't imagine doing a show for Al without it.The band is named Colonel Mustard, after Al's imported 1970s Mercedes. Wentworth, Quebec's Tragically Hip cover band. Dave waited 45 years to do this. His approach: very much not trying to be Gord. "I'm just trying to sing it with my truth."Hardest songs to sing so far — Fireworks (the National Fitness Program cadence) and Fully Completely (Gord's offbeat entrance in the middle section). Bassist John Roy has been cueing him in.Also on the setlist: Grace Too, Wheat Kings, The Good Life, Three Pistols. One BucketDave loves the way Gord says "whippoorwill" — audible in the Grey Cup version JD played. He'll be attempting it Friday."Used to be enough to make every bird stop singing." There's a lot of beauty in this song.Dave also went to bat for Sharks as an all-time Hip song — lyrically perfect, everyone gets to shine — while fully admitting he's a party of one on that. The Countdown NeighboursNo. 30 The Darkest One · No. 31 Gus · No. 32 Emperor Penguin — with Pigeon Camera at No. 28. As JD put it: their arctic phase. The Animal Album (An Idea That Got Away From Everyone)Duxoop floated it — Weird Al did a food album and a TV album, so why not a Tragically Hip animal album? The panel then attempted a full inventory:Emperor Penguin · Pigeon Camera · Dire Wolf · Problem Bears · Thompson Girl (polar bear reference) · The Bear on Music at WorkTiger the Lion · The Luxury (zoo lion) · Little Bones (a teeny tiny little cat) · Sled Dogs After DinnerWheat Kings (loon at the beginning) · Bumblebee · Leave ("in this contest, a concave nest") · Sharks · Piano Spider · I'm a Werewolf, Baby · the killer whale tank one on the box setVerdict: someone needs to make this playlist.Quotable Moments"It's not what's troubling Gus. It's what's troubling us. And that's just the best." — Dave from Montreal"Gord Downie sells the fuck out of this song. He sells the flakiness of the bear. He sells the confusion of the person watching it being like, why aren't you like a real bear?" — Dave from Montreal"It's funny — we're happy to hear a song about a sad animal." — Andrew from Winnipeg"Gus is like you're leaning back in your chair and relaxing a bit." — Andrew from Winnipeg"Grace, Too I feel like I'm faking it. Gus, man, I don't fake that one." — Duxoop from Toledo"It's up to us now to keep these songs alive." — Dave from Montreal"I live for that rare occasion where somebody goes, who was that song by? Be sure to check out the grand finale of our Eco-Justice and Climate Action Mini Series! Throughout the last few months, we've explored everything from outdoor education in Canada, to a global storytelling initiative, to resilience building in coastal island communities, and more. Today, Joe and Blane explore the story behind “Crystallizing Territorial Visions and Claims: Critical Mapping with Amazonian Kichwa Communities in Climate Change. We are joined by authors Anke and Maritza, and co-investigator, Bequer Tuanama, from San Martin, Peru. The interview is bilingual, Spanish and English, with translations. The episode is full of meaningful reflections, candid anecdotes about the process, and a deeper look at their research project. Enjoy! The team begins by tracing how the partnership with Kichwa communities in San Martin, Peru came into being, and was built from existing relationships [3:13]. This leads into a discussion of critical mapping itself, and how a participatory research tool gradually became something more [5:57], providing a space for collective reflection, negotiation, and the reimagining of territorial claims in the face of state-led conservation efforts. The power dynamics involved and their negotiations are very insightful [10:32]. Afterwards, the team walks us through what the mapping process actually looked like, and the connection between mapping territory and climate action, using stories, timelines, and imagery of non-human beings which were included, beyond geographic boundaries [14:00]. The team then shares some of emergent practises from collaborating with a diverse group of collaborators on the project, including different layers of knowledge on map, as well as a vision for the territory in the future, along with practical challenges of the logistics of budgeting, transportation, bringing in elders and women, and providing an intercultural approach to the work [22:56]. The episode closes with learning and outcomes from the project, from the universities changing their approach to action research and impact, how mapping is an important tool of dialogue and collaboration across different sectors, bringing women's voice to the forefront, and engaging different levels, particularly for communicating with the state [35:04].Thank you Anke, Maritza, and Bequer for sharing your work with us in this episode.Thank you to our listeners for tuning in to this episode of the Action Research Podcast, created by Joe Levitan, Adam Stieglitz, Shikha Diwakar, Cory Legassic, and Vanessa Gold.Produced by Shikha Diwakar and Vanja Lugonjic.Subscribe to our podcast on most major podcast distribution platforms, including Spotify and Apple Podcasts. How have you found yourself in the world of action research? Discover how a jazz pianist turned niche entertainment work into a powerhouse advertising, privacy, and tech practice—and why treating business development as a marathon, not a sprint, has allowed him to build a loyal, decades‑long client base. In this episode, you'll hear practical, battle‑tested strategies for specialization, client relationships, and training the next generation of rainmakers.   In this episode, Steve Fretzin and Jamie Rubin discuss: Lawyer's journey as a marathon, not a sprint Building a niche/specialist practice and moving firms Impact of legal operations, budgets, and alternative fee arrangements Personal branding vs. firm branding and the “Info Law Group way” Training younger lawyers in organized, non-salesy business development   Key Takeaways: Treating a legal career like a marathon allows room for ebbs and flows in work while staying confident that consistent effort will pay off over time. Specializing deeply in a niche practice area or industry builds trust and makes it easier for clients to follow you, even when you change firms. Modern in‑house legal operations demand sharper budgeting, clearer estimates, and more flexible fee arrangements, forcing outside counsel to become better business partners. Strong client loyalty grows from genuine personal relationships—helping clients succeed, understanding how they are judged internally, and making them look good in front of their own stakeholders. Younger lawyers can learn business development by following a structured, organized process that avoids pushy “sales” tactics and instead focuses on thoughtful questions, careful listening, and well‑practiced messaging.   "My big mistake is not truly understanding my client's perspective." —  Jamie Rubin   Check out my new show, Be That Lawyer Coaches Corner, and get the strategies I use with my clients to win more business and love your career again.   Join the Be That Lawyer Community and connect with ambitious lawyers who are serious about growing their book of business, strengthening their brand, and becoming confident, consistent rainmakers.   Ready to go from good to GOAT in your legal marketing game? Danil Chernyshev: Forged in the Fire—Why the Scrum Master Role Tests Even Experienced Leaders Read the full Show Notes and search through the world's largest audio library on Agile and Scrum directly on the Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast website: http://bit.ly/SMTP_ShowNotes.   "From my story, you can probably say that I was forged in the fire." - Danil Chernyshev   Danil had already climbed the ladder. He started with Scrum in 2010 as a developer, grew into a development manager, and reached executive level, running a department of 70 developers in his home country. Then he immigrated to Canada and had to start his career fresh. Certified by Scrum.org as both Scrum Master and Product Owner, the first role he landed was Scrum Master—and that's where the trouble began. He knew SDLC inside out, he knew how developers think, he knew Scrum from the trenches. What he didn't know was how to be a servant leader: how to balance serving and leading, how to measure his own success, how to even notice the small wins. After years at the top, he was suddenly the person who knew the least. In this episode, Danil shares why he stayed in the role instead of walking away—he loves building processes that help teams evolve, and he couldn't resist a real challenge. His advice to anyone at that same crossroads: be patient, reflect, build a feedback loop, and never stop learning. A certification proves you understand the base theory. Everything that matters comes after.   In this episode, we refer to the Tuckman model of team development, and how the storming phase tests every team—and every newcomer.   Self-reflection Question: When was the last time you were the person on the team who "knew the least"—and what did that teach you about your own growth?   [The Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast Recommends]

EPISODE 240 Human life is rarely defined by permanence.  It is instead defined by change. You do not live in static conditions.  You live your life in dynamic conditions. A career begins and ends. Relationships form and dissolve. Health changes. Beliefs evolve. Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) disrupt industries. You move through periods of uncertainty in the chaos of change before your life stabilizes into something new. Between every significant “before” and “after” exists an interesting space: called the “passage.” A “passage” is the ambiguous space between two change events. A “passage” is a psychological, emotional, intellectual, relational, and spiritual interval space between what was and what will become. A “passage” is often where your most important personal growth actually occurs. How can you use effective use “passages” when they occur your own life? Reacting to “passages” and change in a positive way can help you create a positive impact in your personal and professional life. EPISODE 241 In personal growth circles, we often hear about the importance of the 4C's of connection, cooperation, collaboration and co-creation.  We are encouraged to connect, cooperate, collaborate and co-create with other people and with our own unique soul purpose, our own relationships, our own communities and our own goals. Yet there is another equally important concept that receives far less attention: the ability to disassociate, then disconnect from things that are not good for us. Disassociation, in this context, is not about denial or avoidance. Rather, it is the conscious decision to separate ourselves from negative thoughts, behaviors, environments, people, influences and energies. that no longer support our growth, well-being, or positive transformation. Before we can move toward something better, we must first disassociated then disconnect from what is holding us back. How can you disassociate then disconnect from things in your own life? Positive transformation is about both what we are willing to release from our lives and what we put back into our lives. Small acts of disassociation and disconnection create powerful transformations over time and create a postive impact in your life.
