We had the privilege of meeting Jon Clark on a picturesque Wednesday in Albuquerque, where he resides against the backdrop of a golf course. Interestingly, Jon's roots trace back to a small New Mexico town that famously changed its name through a game show contest, leading to its transformation into Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. His father managed a restaurant, and the family eventually moved to Albuquerque, where his father delved into the world of technology by opening a small computer store that sold a revolutionary new product called Apple computers.Jon's journey continued as he graduated in 2008 with a degree in industrial engineering. He had an older sister who raised three kids, and though his family initially adhered to the Catholic faith, it gradually faded away from their lives. At the age of 17, Jon experienced a skiing accident that left him with a spinal injury. Over time, the injury escalated, bringing along excruciating pain. Despite the agony, he persisted through life – education, work, even moving to Seattle. Eventually, however, the pain became overwhelming, and he found himself back at his parents' home on Christmas morning, unable to bear the burden alone. The unwavering support of his parents was a cornerstone for Jon during these tough times. They sold their home to secure a more accessible ranch-style house where Jon could navigate more easily. It was during this period that his father introduced him to a book titled "Pain-Free Posture Handbook," a gesture that initially triggered Jon's skepticism about a pain-free life.In a serendipitous turn of events, Jon's life intersected with psilocybin. While searching for a used CPAP machine on Facebook Marketplace, a man shared his own problems with Jon and sent him home with some mushrooms to try. Intrigued and unfamiliar, Jon sampled a small dose and felt a reduction in his bodily spasms.Encouraged by this, he embarked on a more substantial psilocybin experience, aided by his newfound understanding of the book on posture therapy. He visualized the human structure and incorporated exercises from the book, ultimately creating a healing sequence tailored to his needs. Now a certified posture therapy instructor, Jon has defied the odds. He's emerged from his wheelchair, discarded his crutches, and embraced an active lifestyle that includes golfing and frisbee golf. His remarkable journey showcases the power of visualization and determination. Join us in The Jar as Jon shares this inspiring chapter of his life. Flavor is much more than what something tastes like. It's aroma, mouthfeel, and flavors all mixed together to create a sensory experience that has the power to transport us through time and space. It's unique to each person, yet universal in scope; shared on some level by every human who ever existed. In this episode, my guest is Mandy Naglich, a previous Good Beer Hunting contributor and author of “How To Taste: A Guide to Discovering Flavor and Savoring Life.” She's an Advanced Cicerone, a Certified Taster—yes, that's a real thing—and drinks educator who helps people dig into flavor to discover just how far our senses can go. Mandy says that anyone can be a capital-T “Taster”, explains what “supertasters” really are, and describes how familiarity with things like wine, beer, cider, or even sake can expand our notions of flavor through practice and group discussion. You'll hear what drove her to dial into the world of flavor, when and why her book came to be, and the differences between craft beer, cider, and chocolate as they relate to existing guidelines and critical analysis. She won't teach you how to taste like her—simply, how to taste like you. With her guidance, we can all appreciate our senses a little bit more. So let's hear from her.

September 22, 2023 Ray, Mark, and Scott discuss questions that came into the Urology Coding and Reimbursement Group:We are looking to hire a certified coder. We are open to the position being remote if the candidate has urology experience. If you know anyone interested, please send them my way. Also, feel free to email me your resume or if you have any questions.Patient has a nurse visit for removal of a foley catheter that was placed during a procedure with a 00-day global (i.e TURBT). Visit was 2 days after surgery. Documentation by nurse states; Pt in for foley cath removal. 10 ml sterile water removed from balloon, balloon deflated, foley cath removed. Pt tolerated well. Should we be billing a 99211 nurse visit, a 51700 for bladder irrigation or considered part of the surgical package and would not be billable? My question is what if I use a modifier that Coding Today indicates a modifier is required, and the insurance company still denies the second procedure with the modifer as included in the primary procedure, such as CPT's 52332 and 52005-59. Is this appealable? To clarify the Assistant Surgeon, is this is completely separate from a pre op consult to place stents for ureteral identification or an intraop consult for cystoacopy or foley placement or to repair a bladder injury?Mark Painter and PRS ConsultingSchedule a call with Mark Painter / PRS ConsultingUrology Documentation, Coding, and Billing CertificationFor Urologists and APPs (Click Here for Pricing, More Information, and Registration)Documentation, Coding, and Billing Fellowship - Urology (DCB-FS) For Coders, Billers, and Admins (Click Here for Pricing, More Information, and Registration)Documentation, Coding, and Billing Specialist Certification (DCB-SC)Documentation, Coding, and Billing Master Certification (DCB-MC)Urology Advanced Coding and Reimbursement Seminar(Click Here for More information and Registration) Las Vegas, December 1 & 2, 20238 am - 4:30 pm Friday, 8 am - 3:30 pm SaturdayNew Orleans, January 26 & 27, 20248 am - 4:30 pm Friday, 8 am - 3:30 pm SaturdayReserve your spot and save!As a Urology Coding and Reimbursement Podcast listener, you get access to a discount (expires 8/31/23).Use code: 24UACRS733Get signed up today and get peace of mind knowing you will be prepared for all the upcoming changes. The Thriving Urology Practice Facebook group. The Thriving Urology Practice Facebook Group link to join:https://www.facebook.com/groups/ThrivingPractice/ Join the discussion:Urology Coding and Reimbursement Group - Join for free and ask your questions, and share your wisdom.Click Here to Start Your Free Trial of AUACodingToday.com

EPISODE 164 Many of you take self-help, personal empowerment, professional development classes and other types of educational classes, that cause you to grow and evolve as a person. You may also go on retreats during which you gain significant personal, professional and spiritual insights. Such classes are almost always taken in a group environment where you feel safe, supported, excited and eager to apply what you have learned. Some people actually get addicted to these feelings and just keep taking additional classes on a regular basis, over and over again. However, when you leave such classes and return to your daily lives, you typically experience an “energetic mood crash” in which start to feel isolated and experience negative emotions such as fear, sadness, anger, etc. or even depression. You make plans to keep in touch with your classmates to support each other and in most instances, you never do. The key to applying what you have learned in such classes is to “integrate” the positive knowledge, growth and evolution you have experienced into your daily life and into the person you are in that daily life. After taking such classes how can you integrate your knowledge, growth and evolution into your life? Use the 3-R's approach. Integration using the 3-R's approach creates self-awareness, a feeling of wholeness, and expands your consciousness to create a positive impact in your life.
