Welcome to the heart of Spellcraft Summer, witches! In the first episode of this special 3-part series on Spellcrafting 101, Laylla and Chelle crack open the grimoire to explore the foundational building blocks of spellwork: correspondences. What exactly are they, and why do they matter? The witches unpack the classic concept of "like attracts like" and the Doctrine of Signatures, an old magical belief that nature marks each plant and object with a clue (or signature) to its purpose. From colors and crystals to herbs, elements, days of the week, and planetary energies, the witches explore how correspondences give your spellwork structure, symbolism, and energetic alignment. They also talk about why you don't have to memorize every book table out there and why Chelle swears by journaling your own experiences to build a personal system that's way more powerful than a one-size-fits-all chart.Whether you're just beginning your spellwork journey or looking to refresh your practice, this episode is your warm, witchy invitation to deepen your magical language and start casting spells that truly speak to your magickal self. Got a question? In this illuminating episode, Morgan shines a light on the often-overlooked power of sun magick. While the moon tends to take center stage in modern witchcraft, Morgan invites listeners to reconnect with the sun as a potent force of divine masculine energy, success, vitality, and transformation.  She explores the history of solar worship and reflects on how societal shifts may have pulled witches away from solar reverence. Through personal stories and actionable tips, Morgan offers ways to work with sun energy: whether it's casting midday success spells, working with solar deities, or simply embracing the warmth of the sun as a spiritual resource. If you've been moon-obsessed but solar-curious, this episode will inspire you to reimagine your relationship with the sun and find balance in both celestial energies.  For Patreon members, this week's bonus content includes ways to bring more sun magick into your daily practice.  If you enjoy Busy, Gritty, Inked, & Witchy, please like and subscribe. In this joyful and spontaneous episode, Morgan shares a personal story that turned a disappointing weekend into a vibrant magickal lesson. What started as canceled plans to see a favorite comedian transformed into a weekend of laughter, intuition, and surprise wins at the casino—all because she followed what felt good.  Morgan dives into why fun is her second most important magickal tool (after intention) and how moments of joy, laughter, and pleasure are not only healing but also energetically powerful. She explores how these emotional states activate key energy centers in the body, raise your vibration, and bring more potency to your spellwork and manifestations.  This episode is a celebration of following your inner spark, letting your intuition lead, and remembering that serious magick doesn't always have to be so serious. Morgan invites you to reconnect with the playful witch within and see what opens up when you let yourself laugh, giggle, and enjoy the process.  For Patreon members, this week's bonus content is a personal list from Morgan: Five Ways to Add More Joy to Your Life, including practices and rituals she uses herself to keep her magick light, fun, and flowing.  If you enjoy Busy, Gritty, Inked, & Witchy, please like and subscribe. In this episode, Morgan dives into easy meditation practices for busy or neurodivergent witches. After receiving a flood of interest from a recent social media post about her simple nine-minute daily meditation, she decided to break down her approach and offer support for those who struggle to “quiet the mind.”  Morgan busts the myth that meditation requires a completely blank mind or rigid stillness. She shares realistic and accessible ways to meditate—including movement-friendly techniques and her whimsical “hookah smoke” trick for releasing intrusive thoughts. You'll also learn about three core types of meditation (mindfulness, concentration, and guided), how to find what works best for you, and the importance of customizing your practice to fit your needs.  She walks listeners through tips on creating a supportive meditation environment, using tools like soundscapes and guided journeys (with special praise for The Honest Guys on YouTube), and encourages consistency over perfection.  Whether you're a beginner or looking to deepen your practice, this episode offers supportive guidance and humorous insights grounded in real life.  For Patreon members, this week's bonus content includes a detailed look at Morgan's personal daily meditation routine—available to all tiers starting at $5/month.  If you enjoy Busy, Gritty, Inked, & Witchy, please like and subscribe. Chelle and Laylla are back with witchy answers to your magical questions! This episode is a mixed cauldron of questions about protection, spellwork, deity devotion, and personal practice.First up, they share ways to cast simple but powerful protection spells for loved ones who are traveling. From energy shielding and enchanted comfort items to charm bags, black tourmaline stones, and even a charmed trinket tucked into a suitcase, there are plenty of accessible ways to send a little extra magical safety along for the ride.Next, the witches talk about whether spirit work is required in witchcraft (spoiler: it's not). They explore how every witchcraft path is different, and how honoring personal boundaries is an important part of magical practice. Then they tackle the mystery of opening the third eye—explaining what it really means, how it connects to introspection and awareness, and offering easy tools like meditation, visualization, herbal allies like mugwort, and crystals such as lapis lazuli to support the journey. They also offer spellwork suggestions for anyone facing obstacles with paperwork, appeals, or red tape. Road opening spells take center stage here, and the witches explain why hexing large corporations may help you let off steam but may not bring a lot of success. Finally, they explore how to build a personal relationship with deity for those feeling drawn worship. The witches share ideas for offerings, altar building, and why learning can be the ultimate act of devotion. It's another packed episode full of down-to-earth advice, encouragement, and plenty of magical inspiration to bring into your own practice. Got a question? The Narco-Satánicos were a notorious criminal cult based in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, that became infamous in the late 1980s for combining drug trafficking with ritualistic killings. The group was led by Adolfo de Jesús Constanzo, a Cuban-American who called himself a "palo mayombe" priest—a religion with African-Cuban roots that he distorted into violent, occult practices. Key Facts:1. LeadershipAdolfo Constanzo was the leader and spiritual figurehead. He gained followers among drug traffickers and law enforcement, who believed his rituals brought protection and power.Sara Aldrete, a college student, became his second-in-command and was dubbed the "High Priestess."2. Beliefs and PracticesThe group practiced a twisted version of Palo Mayombe, involving animal and human sacrifices.Constanzo believed blood rituals would protect their drug operations and make them invisible to police.Victims were sometimes tortured and mutilated as part of these rituals.3. Criminal ActivitiesThe cult was heavily involved in drug trafficking, especially smuggling marijuana across the U.S.–Mexico border. They operated on a ranch called "Rancho Santa Elena" near Matamoros, which became the site of gruesome discoveries.4. The Murder of Mark KilroyTheir activities came to light after the 1989 abduction and murder of Mark Kilroy, a University of Texas student on spring break.Kilroy was kidnapped, tortured, and killed as a human sacrifice. The high-profile case led U.S. and Mexican authorities to investigate the cult.5. Collapse and AftermathPolice raided Rancho Santa Elena and discovered numerous mutilated bodies buried on the property.Constanzo died in a shootout with police in Mexico City in May 1989—reportedly after ordering one of his followers to kill him rather than be captured.Several cult members, including Sara Aldrete, were captured and received lengthy prison sentences.Cultural ImpactThe case shocked both Mexico and the U.S., blending true crime with horror elements. It inspired books, documentaries, and films due to its disturbing mix of drug crime and ritualistic occultism.Note: I was very limited on what I was able to ask Sara, due to her being under contract for a documentary at the time.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unforbidden-truth--4724561/support.

In this empowering episode, Morgan dives deep into the often-overlooked Queen archetype—the missing link between Mother and Crone in the traditional triple goddess model. She shares her personal connection to this phase, how it has shown up in her spiritual journey, and why it deserves to be embraced as its own sacred stage of life.  Morgan explains how the Queen archetype blends sovereignty, confidence, compassion, and boundaries into one powerful identity. She also walks listeners through how Queen energy differs from Maiden curiosity, Mother nurturing, and Crone wisdom, and why so many women find themselves floating in that in-between space, unsure where they belong.   If you've ever felt like you're not quite a mother anymore but definitely not ready to be called a crone, this episode is for you.  For Patreon members, this week's bonus content includes Morgan's favorite magickal helpers for embodying Queen energy, such as gemstones, oils, and tools to support you as you step into your power. Sara Watkins joins Basic Folk to talk about 'Wild and Clear and Blue,' the new album from I'm With Her, her band with Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O'Donovan. The new LP was inspired by looking back on your life in order to move forward, with a very witchy manner of speaking that encompasses the ancient, mysterious, and spiritual. Sara shares insights into the unique telepathic connection they feel within the band, which was palpable from their first public appearance in 2014. Watkins is at it again with her incredible vocal performances on this album, bringing to mind Fiona Apple – especially on the "Sisters of the Night Watch."A longtime Angeleno, Sara gets into the meaning of another song, “Standing on the Fault Line,” which finds her reconsidering what's safe, what's permanent, and what is essential in order to remain in California. She also explains how the group's tight-knit sisterhood and collaborative efforts have strengthened over the years. Elsewhere, we also talk about the meaning of a "supergroup" versus a cohesive band, artistic processes, and how personal history and motherhood have impacted their music. Additionally, we explore the challenges of balancing life on tour, the importance of small talk, the necessity of doing music as a hobby for personal fulfillment, and the massive annual band party that inspired "Year After Year." In this episode, Morgan shares a deeply personal update on her psychic development journey—nearly one year to the day since she first opened up about it in episode 120. What started as a desire to reconnect with her gifts turned into what she now calls an “accidental psychic experiment.” Through small, intentional shifts in her mindset and daily practices, Morgan found herself reconnecting to her intuitive abilities in powerful, unexpected ways. She walks listeners through the incremental changes she made—like journaling, daily tarot pulls, and saying “fuck it, let's do it”—that ultimately led to breakthroughs in hearing, seeing, and feeling psychic messages again. Morgan gets honest about the fears that held her back, how tarot became the doorway for her reawakening, and the freedom she feels now that she's fully honoring her intuitive self. This one is emotional, empowering, and packed with wisdom for anyone on a similar path of reawakening. For Patreon members, this week's bonus content includes Morgan's exact morning routine during her psychic experiment, including step-by-step practices that helped her open up and reconnect with her gifts. Laylla and Chelle sit down with author and druid Christian Brunner to discuss his latest book, Alpine Witchery: Austrian Folk Magic, Lore & Spellcraft. Drawing from trial records spanning the 15th to 19th centuries, Christian unveils nearly fifty authentic spells and the captivating stories behind them, offering a rare glimpse into the lives of the accused witches of the Austrian Alps .Unlike the Salem witch trials, where many of the accused were innocent, some individuals in these Austrian trials were indeed practitioners of folk magic. The trio delves into the cultural and historical contexts of these practices, exploring how magic was interwoven with daily life in the Alpine regions. They also discuss the unique ingredients and rituals found in these spells, such as using animal parts or specific herbs, and how they can be adapted for modern practice. And of course, it wouldn't be a conversation with Christian Brunner without a few jaw-dropping spell ingredients pulled straight from the old grimoires. One 400-year-old spell includes a smokable blend involving pig poo...yes, really. Even Laylla, known for her love of smokable spells and adventurous herbal blends, had to draw the line. There's natural... and then there's no thank you! Sometimes history is magickal, and sometimes it just stinks.Whether you're a history enthusiast, a practitioner of folk magick, or simply curious about witch trials, this episode offers a fascinating journey into a lesser-known aspect of European witchcraft.
