Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership with Ruth Haley Barton
In this episode, Ruth closes our podcast season on “becoming human,” reflecting on an incarnational spirituality that is lived in the God-ordained reality of our bodies rather than bifurcated from them. She invites listeners to notice what they now know, what questions have surfaced, and how suffering and honest inquiry shape theology and spiritual leadership, calling leaders to stay present to bodily experience in themselves and those they shepherd. Ruth closes with four practices—paying attention to the body, caring for it, praying with it, and biospiritual focusing—and concludes by once again reading Brian Wren's “Good Is the Flesh” as an embodied blessing. Season 29 is titled Becoming Human: With God in Our Bodies. Our goals this season are to confront the dualism between life in the body and life in the spirit, to hear stories of people who experienced their bodies as a place of encounter with God, and to explore the connection between the integration of life in our bodies and our spiritual lives with our leadership. We will be having deep, spiritual conversations with friends of the Transforming Center about their very human experiences in their bodies and how they've experienced God in and throughout these experiences. We will explore God in concrete bodily realities like gender, sexuality, race, ability, aging, illness, and death, to name a few. Mentioned in the Episode: Tarry Awhile: Wisdom from Black Spirituality for People of Faith by Dr. Selina Stone Our Bodies Our Faith by Barbara Brown Taylor (Christian Century, Jan 27 2009) Who Decides What My Body Means? by Brian Bantum (Christian Century, March 29, 2017) This Here Flesh by Cole Arthur Riley Good is the Flesh by Brian Wren Music: Kingdom Come by Aaron Niequist Innocence from Music in Solitude Springs of Living Water from Music in Solitude We're on Substack! “On the Journey with the Transforming Center” is our home for “reflection, conversation, and connection with our transforming community.” It includes thoughtful reflections from Ruth Haley Barton and the Transforming Center team, as well as alumni and friends of the Transforming Center, occasional special video teachings and guided practices, and space to interact with our content and respond with how God is working in your life through the posts. Meditation is the prayerful practice of attending to God with the heart through Scripture, silence, or sacred words, not to gain information but to be present. Listen in to be guided into an intentional posture of attentiveness to God's presence with Psalm 46:10.

What if you are not searching for the divine plan — what if you are THE DIVINE PLAN?In this episode of The Constance Messmer Podcast, we complete the 12 chakra journey with the Divine Chakra, the upper chakra connected to divine consciousness, Source Energy, unity consciousness, grace, miracles, and spiritual awakening. The Divine Chakra reminds us that we all carry divine nature as part of our energetic blueprint. Today we explore what it means to move from an intellectual understanding of God, Goddess, or Source into a direct, lived experience of divine presence and I'll share how this chakra helps us experience the presence of God, Goddess, Source Energy, Great Spirit — many names, all one — and how we can begin to see divine light in ourselves, others, nature, and all life.I invite you to recognize the divine nature within you and ask, with an open heart: What do you ask of me?
When the whirlwind took Elijah up into heaven, Elisha didn't just inherit a cloak—he inherited a double portion of a heavy prophetic mantle. If your life currently feels like a series of dry brooks, empty oil jars, or overwhelming spiritual battles, Elisha's ministry provides the exact roadmap to help you find the living water. Summary: In this episode, we deep dive into the masterclass of faith found in 2 Kings 1–13. We move from the final, fiery testimonies of Elijah to the intimate, life-giving miracles of Elisha, tracking how God continues to validate and empower His chosen servants across generations. Passing the Mantle: We break down the beautiful, unwavering loyalty of Elisha to Elijah and what it truly means to receive a "double portion" of spiritual power through humility and close proximity. The Widow's Oil and the Shunammite's Son: We analyze the biology of these miracles, where God takes the tiny resources we have available—a single pot of oil or a small chamber—and multiplies them to preserve life. The Healing of Naaman: We dissect the pride of the Syrian captain who wanted a spectacular display but was commanded to wash seven times in a muddy river. Discover why small, simple things are the hardest for the natural man to accept. Eyes to See: When the Syrian army surrounds Elisha and his servant, we see the ultimate contrast between physical sight and spiritual vision. Learn how to look past the visible opposition to see the mountains filled with horses and chariots of fire. The Power of Elisha's Bones: We conclude with the bizarre and beautiful final miracle of Elisha, where even his dead bones have the power to resurrect a man, proving that our covenant connections to the prophets outlive mortality itself. Call-to-Action:Are you standing at the edge of your own "Jordan River," wondering if the power that was with the giants of the past is still available to you today? What is the "muddy river" the Lord is asking you to wash in right now? Let's talk about it in the comments below. Welcome to another episode of ADHD-ish, where we explore the lived realities, hidden challenges, and unique gifts of being neurodivergent in business and life.Today's episode is an intimate conversation between friends, colleagues, and fellow neurodivergent entrepreneurs.Returning guest, Dr. Naketa Ren Thigpen, is an expert at the intersection of relationships and entrepreneurship, who has made the decision to forgo a formal diagnosis, while fully accepting her ADHD traits.Together, we explore how trauma, workarounds, and unapologetic authenticity shape both personal growth and professional impact.3 Key Takeaways:Workplace Dynamics Are Deeply Human: So many organizational challenges stem from unresolved personal issues that show up at work. As Naketa says, bringing relational intelligence into organizations is the next frontier for trust, performance, and true inclusion.Diagnosis Isn't Required for Legitimacy: You don't need a formal diagnosis to embrace your neurodivergent identity. The fastest way to feel stuck is to believe your mind's harshest stories. William goes straight at a different possibility: what if you knew beyond any doubt you are creator incarnate? How would that change your thoughts and actions? You will hear a practical, repeatable method for embodiment: asking your body to vibrate faster and welcoming more of your higher levels forward, so emotional structures and rigid beliefs can loosen. We unpack the “river and rocks” metaphor for judgment and energy flow, then get very concrete about clearing: notice the judgment, see that you have outgrown it, and wave goodbye until it releases. The core takeaway is simple and challenging: the mind can mislead you, but the heart will not.Expanding your awareness allows your uniquedness to be freed. Please click subscribe. Join us next time.

Each Sunday we begin our liturgy with “welcome to Vox as participants and hosts of our liturgy. Liturgy means the work of the people, and this morning we are all invited to care for and serve one another.” On this Sunday after Pentecost, Christopher Mack considers how we work out this “work of the people” in our being and in relationship to one another in a pace and posture that gives our faith legs for the longhaul. [Genesis 21:7-18; Romans 12:1-8] Reflection Questions: Is there a situation in your life where you are invited to separate hating evil from loving a person malformed by that very injustice? Where might you invite joy to accompany your sorrow? What is the Work of the People you are being drawn to work out in your own life this week?

What does it mean to truly follow Jesus in a culture that feels increasingly corrupted and confusing? Today we wrap up our series on the Lord's Prayer by looking at the final and perhaps most complex petition: Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.Join Mike Erre, Tim Stafford, and our favorite special guest Seth Erre as we navigate the tension between the joy of summer break and the heavy realities of the world around us. We start the show with some lighthearted updates about Seth's summer school, an upcoming trip to Kings Island, and a surprise for a friend. However, the conversation quickly turns to the importance of creating counter-narratives in a world that often devalues life and marginalized communities. In the second half of the episode, we dive deep into the Greek word peirasmos to understand the nuance between being tested and being tempted. We explore how Jesus re-enacted the story of Israel by succeeding in the wilderness where they failed, and how his prayer in the garden of Gethsemane provides the ultimate model for our own spiritual lives. It is a deep dive into moving from a posture of entitlement to one of gratitude while staying awake to the subversive work of the Kingdom.Chapters0:00 Intro and Summer Break Updates3:15 Kings Island and Band Surprises6:42 Mike's Pickleball Injury and Seth's Kindness9:55 Navigating Political and Cultural Turmoil14:10 Muscular Christianity and Energy Drinks17:30 Counter-Narratives and Down Syndrome Joy21:45 Women in Ministry and Active Peacemaking26:20 Winning vs. Faithfulness in Following Jesus30:45 The Final Petition: Lead Us Not Into Temptation34:10 Testing vs. Temptation in the Bible39:05 Jesus in the Wilderness and the Exodus Story43:20 The Garden of Gethsemane and the Cup of Suffering48:50 Embodying the Lord's Prayer53:15 Modern Testing: Entitlement vs. Gratitude57:40 Staying Awake in Community59:50 Outro and How to Support UsAs always, we encourage and would love discussion as we pursue. June is changing the rules. Are you ready for the Return of Magic? After a relentless period of shedding, truth-bombing, and “rip-the-Band-Aid-off” energy, the first week of June brings a massive, fated frequency shift. We are moving out of the cocoon and into a three-point arc of initiation, grace, and new human embodiment. In this episode, Sabrina Lynn reveals the “Return to Magic” arc moving through June 1st–7th, showing you how to stop watching the “avalanche” of the old world and start attuning to the gold veins of abundance available right now. The 3-Point Arc of June 1st–7th: 1⃣ The Nervous System Exhale (Mon-Tue): As Mercury enters Cancer and the Sun sextiles Saturn, a sacred reprieve opens. This isn’t just rest; it's the “landing” required to access your deepest intuitive gold. 2⃣ The Return to Magic (Wed-Sat): The “Grace-Bombing Magicians” (Venus, Isis, Osiris, & Hygeia) are in a high-initiatory conjunction. We explore how to stop watching the “avalanche” of the old world and start attuning to the miracles hidden in the collapse. 3⃣ The Crossroads of Destiny (Sun): Hecate and Mary Magdalene meet on the Nodes of Fate while Uranus squares the destiny line. This is the “Chicken Wings” moment—the choice to stop crawling and finally start using your wings. What we dive into: • The Avalanche vs. The Gold Veins: Why where you place your life force this week determines your next 6 months. • High-Voltage Initiations: Why you might feel “crunchy” or “on the edge” right before a massive breakthrough. • The Mother of Magic: An invitation into the vast mystery school of the Goddess Isis. • Embodying the New Human: Moving from deconstruction to actual frequency embodiment. It's time to move from deconstruction to actual frequency embodiment. Are you ready to claim the magic? I'm still enjoying this series, in which everything the main character has thought to be true about his life and world unravels as he discovered how much more lies outside the shadowy boundaries of his life. This is the third book following Firekeeper's Daughter, but it actually takes place temporally between the events of Firekeeper and Warrior Girl. What does play mean to you today?Where might you be trying to “straighten” what is meant to be delightfully cattywampus? What would it feel like to bless the imperfect instead of fixing it?Where can you soften in your life—physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually? What rough edges are currently rubbing at your spirit, and how might you soften them?Where do you feel “thin,” leaky, or drained in your life or energy body right now? What fears or resentments are hurting you from the inside out? What would it look like to begin releasing even a little of that today? If your heart could speak freely, what would it say it needs in order to remember how to be whole? What idea, project, or dream are you ready to make manifest in this season?Affirmations:I allow playfulness to enrich my life.I find pleasure in the small moments.I follow what pleases me.I am rich in so many ways.I understand the sacred nature of the cattywampus way.I embrace the tender beauty in imperfection.I am playful.I dance in the love light of a benevolent Mother Goddess.I am rooted in love.I pause and return to center.I breathe deep and listen.I allow myself to delight in the sweetness of life.I am open to ease in the present.I soften and rediscover sweetness.I remember I am already whole.I am fierce and wild.Inhabiting the crossroads…I watch the orioles, orange and black embersagainst a backdrop of green. They do not know what is on my lists.Standing under this sky, this day,I remember:when we let the litany of the undonerun away with us,we forget to inhabit the real. The orioles are here today.Tomorrow is still only a rumor.Sometimes I feel like I've been “camping out” at a long, extended crossroads—combination of midlife re-evaluation, changing family constellations and needs, and simply living in the in‑between on a changing earth.Midlife invites us to recognize and hold the reality that we can't live every possible life and can't say yes to every shimmering door. But you can:+Listen for your own full yes from the wise guide within. +Make peace with the paths that must pass you by.+Trust that new doors appear because you let others close.A mini blessing for today:“May I choose with wise discernment, even when it means letting good things go.”Embodying the Goddess: Guest Video about BeautySo pleased to share this guest video from Cynthia Abulafia, the author of Embodying the Goddess with you as a special subscriber bonus this month!Where the magic is…This is where the magic is, right where we are, where we touchthe mighty mystery, step into the sacred, and ease into the boundless, right where it touches us.Gently, now, we invite ourselves to remember.Bravely, now, we invite ourselves to reclaim.Firmly, now, we invite ourselves to return. We need not seek the absolute or long for the holy,we need only to open our eyes and reach out our hands, right here, right now, we have already arrived.Sending love to all of you.Keep living your magic, Molly, Mark, + Family This is a public episode. Improvement efforts stall for reasons every CI practitioner knows by heart: unclear problem statements, missing data, inconsistent teams, rejected countermeasures. Anne Frewin argues those are symptoms. The root cause is the environment leaders create -- and Gallup's data backs her up: 70% of team engagement comes down to the manager. In this episode, recorded as part of the KaiNexus Continuous Improvement Webinar Series, Anne walks host Mark Graban through her LEAD model -- four leadership mindsets that build the psychological safety improvement work depends on. For each one, she offers a single behavior you can put to work right away:Leading with courage means talking about problems, not just making them visible -- moving teams from firefighting to "smelling the smoke." Embodying trust means going to Gemba with real curiosity: standing still, observing, listening to tone as much as words. Anchoring in clarity means communicating so it sticks -- frequent, visual, purposeful, two-way. Driving improvement means inviting ideas and letting people fix what bugs them, using three simple guardrails: Is it safe? Does everyone who needs to know, know? Can it be undone?Anne also makes the case for treating employees as a key stakeholder alongside owners and customers, and shows what changes when you do. Engaged organizations see 63% fewer safety incidents, 21% lower turnover, 32% fewer defects, and 23% higher profitability. The conversation continues into a wide-ranging Q&A on writing better problem statements, creating space for people to surface problems without fear, the limits of ROI thinking, and the hard work of coaching managers who rose through the ranks by being the boss.Anne Frewin is a speaker, coach, and facilitator, and the founder of Employee Centric Leadership LLC. She has more than 15 years of experience implementing Lean principles across healthcare, biomedical, manufacturing, and professional services.Watch the video, view the slides, and read the full recapBrowse 100+ free recorded webinarsTips, articles, and case studies on leadership and continuous improvementLearn more about KaiNexus

Most of us were raised in a society that encourages productivity and do, do, do. I started this podcast in 2020 which was the beginning of global events that encouraged us to take time to pause, make changes and heal, to ask questions and listen for the answers. Exploring change and carving new paths is an invitation to listen to your inner guidance. The conversations and guests on this podcast have listened to their inner voice and birthed new ways of being in the world.
In this message, Katherine Sikma Wadsworth explores the holiness of the human body, challenging dualistic theology that elevates the soul while sidelining or shaming our physical selves. Moving through creation, incarnation, resurrection, and ascension, she shows how Scripture affirms that God meets us in and through our bodies, and that Jesus' ongoing embodied life is good news for our own flesh. She closes by offering a blessing over congregants' bodies, inviting them to receive their physical selves as sacred gifts and primary places of encounter with God.
This New Moon in Taurus, "Soul Worth is Your Core Essence". This earth elemental provides a grounding and steadying energy in the life creation process. It is where the “stick-to-it attitude can be seen. This zodiac sign embodies the concepts, ideas and values of creating and building something of worth with lasting value. Taurus is the focal point for bringing ideas into form. Taurus is the complement to Scorpio, even while referred to as it's opposite sign in astrology discussions. The basic relationship is that the 2nd house associated with Taurus, is where you begin to recognize your own valued self-possessed resources. Scorpio, 8th house is how we exchange with others our valued resources, and they with us. (See previous episode, "Full Moon in Scorpio). One of the key aspects of Taurus is its association with manifestation of physical possessions, and the flow of money as a measure of resources, usable talents, abilities, and skills for exchange. This is the time to reflect on creating both inner and outer heart-centered connections, which offer experiences of personal truth. Instead of setting intentions from a place of being “not enough or good enough”now is the time to embrace your “Whole Self and Soul Worthiness”.Taurus is the opportunity to express deepest appreciation for being able to live life from Soul awareness. Living in the “Soul Worthiness” way is claiming the ability to be a creator with the Universal Source. This New Moon in Taurus is an invitation to reshape your mind to create a meaningful, passionate life that will stand the test of time. The Taurus archetype is the awareness of the “spark” animating the physical body. “I Manifest” principle. The Taurus energy is the nourishing of being through self worth. This New Moon in Taurus brings us into a profound awareness of being a part of Nature. Of the three Earth signs, Capricorn and Virgo, Taurus brings us into relationship with our physicality. Every person possesses a unique emanation and energetic life frequency. When a person actually listens to one's body in cooperation with mind and heart, this comes together as a unique type of intelligence. How do we access our unique personal body intelligence and inner wisdom? Our bodies literally speak to us through the feeling states. For example, you get up in the morning and you notice the birdsong, and interestingly, listening to the birds feels calming to you. In fact, you notice your whole body feels rather relaxed. On the other hand, you are walking along on a city street, there are lots people whizzing by, as well as the sounds of heavy machinery drilling, earth moving machines rumbling, and diesel fuel smells are in the air. Notice how your body sends you signals which are much different from the relaxation of the birdsong. The sign of Taurus provide us with greater understanding of how our magnificent bodies serve as our central "anchoring" point. The more we observe, listen and feel our own body-wise connection the more we can live greater heart-centered and Soul led lives. In essence, we need body/mind/spirit awareness. During this lunar cycle, the Taurus energy is providing an energetic framework for understanding how to ground and regulate our nervous systems, through tuning into the Earth's frequency. Currently, on a daily basis millions of people are voicing their feelings about emotional, bodily, mental unrest and psycho-spiritual disconnection. This New Moon is an invitation from the Universe to seek a quiet space from inside self. Inevitably the question comes up, "how can I feel peaceful, and where is restfulness to be found? It's inside each one of us, and the guide to self understanding is through our bodies, as the gateways to heart-centered insights. Prosperity and Abundance through Self-WorthTaurus is a feminine and fixed earth sign. Sound alchemy, your voice is deeply associated with the sign of Taurus. Singing, chanting, toning, humming, any sonic activity has a grounding effect, which helps to regulate the nervous system. Dancing, gardening, drumming and movement put us in alignment with our home planet, Earth. This sign represents the ability to create, produce and bring an idea into fruition. In our astrological map, it's the area of life where a person will persist and eventually achieve success, as a result of embracing one's physical body wisdom, sensual and tactile connection. There's understanding of self-worth, sacred valuing, and inner soul awareness. This sign is associated with the 2nd house on the zodiac wheel. It embodies the talents, gifts, abilities, developed skills, resources, feelings of self-worth and self-esteem. The guiding/ruling planet is Venus which provides the inner awareness of sight, smell, taste, touch, sound, as well as responses to expressions of beauty. The 2nd house reveals how the core attributes mentioned above are manifested in form, especially through financial flow, lived-values, self worth, sensual pleasure, peace, harmony and the ability to relate to others in all kinds of relationships. The placement of Taurus in your “Star Chart”, is the area of life where you are learning to balance financial security, self-expression, self-worth and clarify how to embrace physical reality. It is the overall “value center”. It's important to fully recognize that your self-worth does not depend on what other people say, or tell you who you are, or are "suppose to be".The Following Prompts will help in learning how to use your astrology chart as a guide for connecting deeper with the Taurus energy that will help you be more present for yourself.New Moon in Taurus with Venus Rulership/guidanceJournal Prompts:Natal Venus sign and house placement, and sign on cusp of 2nd house?____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Describe 5 important valued self-resources(gifts, talents, skills, inner “treasures) Describe Self-Worth and Self-Care rituals that hold importance for you. In order for the growth process to occur, there has to be a life giving exchange between the Earth and the seed. In other words, this is the sign that reminds us of the energy of growth, of which every nutrient and aspect of life comes from the Earth Herself. This New Moon in Taurus is a powerful time to observe your own way of being connected to Earth, and how to personally contribute to renewal of what needs changing. In this episode: appreciation, mindfulness, gratitude practice, self-compassion, intentional livingEpisode SummaryAdam leads the Mindful Fire Legends community through a guided appreciation meditation. Beginning with breath awareness and meeting yourself exactly where you are, the practice invites you to embody appreciation — first for the breath itself, then for someone you deeply love, and finally for aspects of your own life and who you are. The session closes with a reflection on how to carry appreciation into your day and express it to those around you.Resources MentionedFree Envisioning Guide: mindfulfire.org/startJoin Mindful Fire Legends to practice live: mindfulfire.org/joinKey TakeawaysAppreciation begins with the breath — each inhale and exhale sustains your life, and tuning into that simple fact is the foundation of the practice.Bringing a specific person to mind and letting feelings of appreciation "bubble up like bubbles off the bottom of a boiling pot" deepens the emotional resonance of gratitude.Appreciating traits about yourself and the opportunities in your own life shifts the inner lens from self-judgment to self-compassion.The practice doesn't end on the cushion — the session closes by inviting listeners to express appreciation to those around them in small, concrete ways throughout the rest of their day.PS: Introducing the…
Work with Christina: book a human design + nervous system session.https://embody-your-design.com/https://www.instagram.com/embody_your_design——Show Notes:Christina's origin: the 2020 breakdown, finding human design at her lowest, and discovering she was a generator with no energy. "I had to figure out a way how to get out of my bed onto the couch because my body was so drained." Knowledge piled up. Nothing changed. The missing link nobody in human design teaches: the body holds trauma, so "just listen to your body" is a half-truth. Without nervous system capacity, you can't feel your sacral, trust your authority, or live what your chart says you are.Quitting the safest job in Germany on a sacral "hell yes" — and freezing for a year and a half afterward. The decision was right. Her body didn't have the capacity to metabolize the consequences. So she blamed human design. Then she found the nervous system.Human design as experiment, not another box: refusing the ego's favorite trap, "I'm just a generator, so I can't initiate." A chart is a starting point, not a permission slip.A clean middle finger to manifestation culture: "If someone says, you just have to live an abundant life, like, go fuck yourself." You can't manifest your way out of rent. The hated job, frustration as protector and motivator, and the baby-step exit plan that doesn't repeat the freeze. The village of energy types — manifestors spark, generators and mani-gens build, projectors see the big picture and guide, reflectors mirror the health of the whole. Nothing gets built without the full ecosystem. The "I'm just a generator" wound: 70% of humanity, doing the actual building, raised to believe work can't be joyful, which is what kills the sacral. The fire runs on joy. Most generators are running on water. The generator plateau: the level where nothing seems to move, where frustration screams at you to quit, where the actual work is staying. "Sometimes this is life testing if I really want to achieve this goal."Lindsey shares publicly for the first time: she stopped over-functioning last July expecting relief, spaciousness, energy. Instead, less energy, more closed, more irritable, months of emotional flatness. "The romanticized fantasy of, I'm gonna stop over-functioning and it's gonna feel so much better — didn't happen."Christina names the wave: a tribal/individual/collective emotional wave that doesn't build smoothly, it climbs in jagged steps over weeks or months before it crests. "Some things just suck. That's life being a human on this planet." No cure being sold here.Active waiting vs. passive waiting: projectors aren't supposed to sit on their hands; generators aren't supposed to wait for life to knock. Expose yourself, follow what lights you up, even when it has nothing to do with making money. The food example and connection charts: Christina is active digestion, her boyfriend is passive. Without human design, "you never have food when I'm here" becomes a story about being inconsiderate. With it, bring your own snack. The daily nuance that prevents made-up conflict.

Rev. Liên Shutt explores how the Buddhist path of wisdom can help us fully celebrate and embody our identities as queer people. The concept of prajna (wisdom) is not an abstract theory, but as an interactive way of being that honors our lived experiences. Liên breaks down the traditional three levels of wisdom and maps them onto the queer journey, showing how we move from simply seeking information about our identities to reflecting on our shared stories and, finally, to an embodied presence. The "perfection of wisdom" is found in how we carry ourselves—without defensiveness or shame—fully alive in the moment and comfortable in our own skin.Drawing on her own history—from navigating the "cluelessness" of her youth to finding belonging in the queer Vietnamese community of the Bay Area—she describes the transition from being an "object" defined by society to reclaiming oneself as a "subject". Liên emphasizes that the heart of meditation practice is discernment, which allows us to recognize the stories we tell ourselves and choose a path of kindness instead. She invites listeners to view their queerness as a gateway to understanding the interdependence of all things, highlighting several key frameworks for this development:Three Levels of Wisdom:Learning/Knowledge: Absorbing information and searching for representation.Reflection: Processing experience through shared coming-out stories, community symbols, and discussion.Meditation (Bhavana): Developing an "embodied wisdom" that allows one to live fully and authentically without apologies.Subjectivity and Value: Moving beyond the internalized idea that being "different" is bad, and instead realizing that all phenomena—including ourselves—are worthy and valuable subjects.Non-Egocentric Awareness: Practicing a "looseness" of self where our queerness is seen as both deeply personal and part of a larger, collective whole.Discernment as a Tool: Using mindfulness to notice when we are becoming reactive and instead consciously "turning toward" kindness and friendliness______________ Liên Shutt (she/they) is a priest lineage holder in the Shunryu Suzuki tradition. Born to a Buddhist family in Vietnam, she received her meditation training in the Insight and Soto Zen traditions in the U.S., Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam. She was a founding member of the Buddhists of Color in 1998 and currently is the guiding teacher of Access to Zen, an inclusive, anti-oppression sangha and non-profit in the SF Bay Area. She lives on Ohlone land, currently called Oakland, with her partner, exploring waterways and forests as often as they can. I'm still enjoying this series, in which everything the main character has thought to be true about his life and world unravels as he discovered how much more lies outside the shadowy boundaries of his life. (listening to with Tanner): Brian's Hunt—the final book in the survival classic series that developed after Hatchet. Since I last wrote, we also listened to The River, Brian's Winter, and Brian's Return. We also continued our Gary Paulsen festival by listening to Northwind, which is about a Viking-era type of boy who has to survive alone on the sea.(listening to by self): Sisters in the Wind—I've barely begun this one, as I only recently finished listening to Warrior Girl, Unearthed. This is the third book following Firekeeper's Daughter, but it actually takes place temporally between the events of Firekeeper and Warrior Girl. I actually liked Warrior Girl, Unearthed more than Firekeeper's Daughter overall, but I was really left frustrated by the many holes in the ending. What happens when the role you play on screen starts to close doors in your real life? My guest this week is actress Nicola Bryant, famously known as the American companion, Peri, on Doctor Who. In a story that sounds like a movie itself, Nicola shares how she pretended to be American for three years—both on and off-set—and how that choice affected her career for decades. We explore her creative childhood, her transition from ballet to theater, and her deep interest in the power of hypnosis to help others heal and grow. This is a conversation about creativity, identity, and the courage it takes to finally trust your own gut. Most leaders don't need another strategy, another 10-step checklist, or another theoretical framework to study. What they need is the ability to embody what they have already learned about leadership to have more agency to respond to challenges when the stakes are high. In this episode, we move beyond the classroom and into the "laboratory of the self." You'll hear directly from leaders who have participated in the Roads Less Traveled (RLT) group coaching program —executives and entrepreneurs who realized that "Power Skills" like empathy, intercultural communications, presence, and resilience aren't things you learn in a PowerPoint; they are things you embody in your nervous system. Why Presence Outperforms the Plan In a volatile 2026 landscape, the leaders who thrive are those who have moved from "knowing" how to lead to being the kind of leader they want to be. By listening to those who have completed the RLT group coaching journey, we explore: The Framework Fallacy. Why adding more logic to a stressed nervous system doesn't work, and how somatic embodiment provides a new way of leading that frameworks miss. The Power of the Cohort. How practicing these "Power Skills" in a trusted community of peers accelerates transformation and prevents burning out and empathy fatigue. From Acting to Being. Real stories of shifting from a professional mask to a grounded, authentic presence that your team can actually feel. Real ROI on Power Skills. How RLT alumni used somatic practices to handle professional critiques, market shifts, and team conflict with clarity and ease. Episode Highlights The Power Skill Rebrand. In times of collective tension and "pressure cooker" moments, how do we stay grounded? Join Colleen and Robyn Benelli as they explore the science of entrainment and the spiritual power of Reiki to embody peace during the Great Shift of 2026. Discover how your personal frequency can counterbalance global negativity and serve as a powerful form of activism. Key Insights * The Power of Entrainment: Just as metronomes eventually tick in unison, our energy can entrain to the higher frequency of Reiki. By holding a frequency of peace, we help the collective transition from anxiety into spiritual coherence. * Reiki as Activism: When external events feel out of control, our internal state becomes our most powerful tool. Embodying peace isn't bypassing reality; it's adding a "thread of light" to a global rope that holds the collective steady. * The Map of Consciousness: Referencing Dr. David Hawkins, Colleen explains that one individual vibrating at the level of Peace (600) can counterbalance 10 million people at lower frequencies. Your personal healing has a massive, measurable global ripple effect. * Self-Care is Activism: Maintaining your own wellness and moving forward in a positive way during the "Great Shift" isn't selfish—it is a necessary contribution to the wellness of the global human family. People Also Ask (FAQ) * What is entrainment in Reiki? Entrainment is the process where different vibrating bodies lock into a shared frequency. In Reiki, our personal energy entrains to the higher, stable frequency of the Reiki energy, allowing us to remain calm even in stressful environments. * How does one person's energy affect the collective? Based on the Map of Consciousness, higher frequencies like Love and Peace have significantly more power than lower ones. A small percentage of the population holding high consciousness can counterbalance the negativity of the remaining 85%. * How can I use Reiki when I feel helpless about world events? You can use Reiki to regulate your nervous system through techniques like box breathing and then consciously emanate peace frequencies. This allows you to contribute to a "web of light" that supports the world, even when external outcomes are out of your control. On today's episode of the CLS Experience, host Craig Siegel sits down with relationship teacher and author Lorin Krenn for a powerful conversation about sacred love, embodiment, and truth in conscious partnership. They explore the idea that you are not here to wake others up, but to awaken your own soul and embody your truth so fully that others rise in your presence. Lorin explains why trying to fix or coach your partner often backfires, and how asking permission to share reflections creates co-creation instead of ego conflict. The discussion reframes relationships as vehicles for evolution, describing sacred love as a refining fire that either burns away illusion or strengthens alignment. They unpack nervous system activation versus chronic emotional inflammation, modern commitment struggles in men, father absence, integrity, shame, and why truth is the highest form of intimacy. The conversation also expands into business as spiritual growth, scarcity versus creation mindset, and a powerful death visualization practice designed to cut through ego and clarify what truly matters. Throwback to when Camille's weekends contained 16 bottles of wine, and a day contained 80 cigarettes for Luis. Wine and cigarettes respectively calmed and stimulated their neurodivergent brains into surviving. They no longer need wine or cigarettes because they live in alignment with their interests and capacity: part of the process was learning to live lives that fascinated them. In month 6 of the ADHD slow group, we dive into how to cultivate a fascinating life for ourselves. A fascinating life isn't a life of luxury, it's learning to notice what lights us up, and following that interest. It can be as simple as buying rhinestone pens instead of plain black pens. It can be taking out books from the library on our latest hobby curiosity. Our neurodivergent baseline is low dopamine. Modern lifestyles deplete our dopamine further. We need a life so interesting to us it makes us want to get out of bed in the morning, effectively making life the stimulant. They also talk about month 5 of the course, which is all about being in relationship with someone who is neurodivergent or overwhelmed. For example, Camille needed silly shows after a day of cognitive heady interactions. Her husband needed cognitive shows after a day teaching young children. Their solution was game shows giving Camille an element of play, and her husband cognitive stimulation.
