How do we exercise our faith? What does it look like to have embodied faith? What does living out our faith look like in real life? Listen in. In today's Advent episode, we take a look at Mary's faith journey. How do we exercise our faith? Faith starts in the mind with knowledge about God, facts about His character and understanding who He is and what He can do. Then faith moves into consent: We intellectually agree with the facts we know and the reality we understand, and then consent takes root in the soil of our hearts. Finally, faith takes the form of commitment, of application, of action, of obedience. Faith is always fruitful, and faith will not be quiet. For Mary, her faith produced the fruit of a firstborn Son. Her faith could not be quiet as she screamed in the night at the delivery of her Son. In this revealing conversation I had with Zac Carper of FIDLAR, we talk about everything from the scrappy and crazy beginning of his journey, to his struggles with addiction, and his maturing into a fully self-aware human strengthened by his belief in the power of positive thinking. Now clean and sober, Zac appreciates even more the life he lives on the road, where he gets to share his deep love of live performance with his devoted fans, the so-called FIDIOTS. Embodying a new perspective on life and his art, Zac and I exchange views on how best to battle the games the brain can play, and how to escape that often self-destructive road -- it's an epic and enlightening conversation. FIDLAR's latest EP, That's Life, their first in four years, marks a new era for a band that's had its share of challenges but is proud of where they are now and equally excited about the future. This episode celebrates Thomas McConkie's incredible new book, At-One-Ment--Embodying the Fullness of Human-Divinity, and dives into several of its topic areas that LDF Host Dan Wotherspoon chose as potentially helpful to this listening audience. In both a personal and descriptive tone they discuss the importance of training our minds to "concentrate," for it is the primary key that can unlock our ability to live in a state of endless energy, depth, beauty, love, and connection. Tom also talks about "transfiguration." In another important section of the conversation, Tom describes for us certain "energy centers" in our bodies (such as our needs for safety/security, pleasure, esteem/affection, and to experience power within situations) and how these centers often get activated (with negative effects) within our daily lives. He also discusses ways to mitigate in healthy ways the discomfort they create within us. Another topic here is ways to convey what we can expect as we step more fully into a life as a "human-divine." What is it like? What kinds of experiences await? How does yielding to the transfiguring power of the Sacred World affect us? Throughout, both Tom and Dan share from their own personal experiences as travelers stumbling through adolescence before being captured by Spirit and drawn into these kinds of lives. Listen in! And rush to purchase, At-One-Ment--Embodying the Fullness of Human-Divinity!

Many of us 'believe' that abundance is our birthright, but very few of us fully embody it. We still experience scarcity and lack, in various aspects of our lives, even though "we've done the work." This happens when we have deep scarcity programming, often in our subconscious. Which can impact our finances, career, relationships and health. Listen as Jessica talks with two women, both abundance teachers, but also navigating their own journeys. We teach what me most need to learn, right? First, Dena Wiggins, Author & Purpose Doula, shares her journey of healing generational scarcity to realize her own abundance. She offered one of the most delicious definitions of embodiment I've ever heard and we shared our wisdom on why embodiment is such a vital part of the process of creating and how it is a potent antidote to any expression of impostor syndrome. In this week's compelling episode of the Dethroning Your Inner Critic podcast, Joanna delves into the prevailing thought system deeply rooted in fear that currently permeates our world. She explores how this fear-based paradigm fosters the misconception that we have failed to acknowledge our true essence as spiritual beings having a human experience, interconnected and united, rather than isolated entities. Joanna sheds light on the societal conditioning that encourages competition over collaboration, scarcity over abundance, and fosters a perception of the world as inherently perilous. These challenges, she argues, reflect an internal imbalance within us that requires our attention. Tune in to this enlightening episode as Joanna unravels the actions necessary to ground ourselves in a profound understanding of who we are and our immense capabilities. Discover how we can break free from the false notion that constant danger surrounds us, perpetuated by the inner critic's narrative. This narrative convinces us to shield ourselves, preventing the embodiment of love, discouraging vulnerability, and hindering our ability to live in the present. The inner critic leads us to believe that achieving peace, ease, and flow is only possible when we reach our goals, making true joy seem perpetually out of reach. Here are this week's reflection questions: What steps can we take to facilitate the transformation of our personal lives, aligning them with a more profound truth about our existence? Amidst the necessary changes we face, why do we find it challenging to embody ease and flow, especially in the current circumstances? How can we shift our mindset to recognize that peace, ease, and flow are not exclusive to the attainment of our goals and dreams, but inherent qualities we can cultivate in our daily lives? Welcome back to Gospel Spice, the podcast that adds a little spice to your everyday walk with Jesus! I'm your host, Stephanie Rousselle, and I am beyond excited for today's episode featuring the delightful Kristi McLelland. She is a well-known and loved Bible teacher, frequent Israel traveler, and Professor at Williamson College where she focuses on teacing the Bible from its historical, cultural, geographic and linguistic contexts. Needless to say, I love her work, focus, and mission! She is known for her outstanding Bible study, Jesus and Women. But now, she also just released one of my favorite books of 2023, Rediscovering Israel. If you like history and want to understand Israel in general, and Jesus in particular, through the lens of history, geography, language and culture, then this is the book for you! May I even suggest, it would be the perfect Christmas gift for someone you know! This conversation invites you into a powerful prayer journey. Learn how to embody the word of God, not just know it, as Kristi shares her deep insights from her study in Egypt and Israel. Discover the communal nature of Scripture and why it's important to be feasting saints, embodying and feasting on the word of God. Kristi and I also discuss the significance of the intertestamental period, and Jesus' celebration of Hanukkah. We explore the Jewish roots of the scriptures and the transformative power of prayer and embracing abundance. I love how Kristi McLelland appreciates the Jewish roots of the Scriptures. The intertestamental period between Malachi and Matthew is a focal point of our conversation. Kristi brilliantly compares it to preparing a nursery for Jesus' birth. It's all about setting the stage for Jesus' arrival. Kristi McLelland's study of scripture in Egypt and Israel was a life-changing experience. She emphasizes the importance of embodying the Word rather than just knowing it. We must be "feasting saints" rather than just "reading saints." The communal nature of Scripture for the Jewish people teaches us the importance of embodying and feasting on the Word of God. As the conversation progresses, I get to connect my love for Jewish culture and food, highlighting the connection between the French language and the delightfulness of God. It's all about the senses and embracing the abundant goodness of our Creator! The imminence of God for the Jewish people is awe-inspiring. He's present in their history, in the temple, and in every aspect of their lives. Such a powerful reminder of His intimacy and closeness. In the same way, prayer is not just a passive act; it's an invitation to participate in God's restoration and renewal. Our prayers should have hands and feet, actively engaged in transforming the world around us. The Western culture's scarcity mindset is challenged in this conversation. There's an alternative philosophy of abundance that allows us to be generous and give our lives away. We have a heavenly Father who is abundantly generous to us! Living in abundance instead of scarcity allows us to move freely and lightly through the world. It's a powerful witness to those around us. We have been saved into a family and community that thrives on abundance. The resurrection is the ultimate proof of abundance. It opens the door to endless possibilities and invites us to embrace the fullness of life in Christ. What a game-changer! Jesus often surprises us and does things differently than expected, but His transformative power remains unmatched. “Tikkun Olam,” the repair of the world, is an invitation for us to actively participate in God's work. Prayer is more than just a conversation; it's a partnership with God's plans, actively contending and co-laboring with Him. The Lord's Prayer is an open invitation to actively participate in the ushering of God's kingdom here on Earth. Let's not settle for passive prayers; let's engage in bringing heaven down to earth! Kristi shares a powerful message about how walking closely with Jesus can lead to a transformation from scarcity to abundance. We discuss the importance of prayer and getting involved in repairing the world. Prayer is not just about words but an invitation to actively participate in restoration and renewal. Kristi emphasizes the philosophy of abundance and how it allows us to live freely and generously, shining as lights in a world of scarcity. We'll learn about the concept of yada, intimate knowing, and how it can deepen our relationship with God. We'll also explore the cyclical nature of time in Middle Eastern culture and how God reaches back in time to heal and restore broken things. This conversation is a reminder that our prayers are not limited to mere words. They're an embodiment of our desire to be involved in what we're praying for. Let's pray with intention and act with conviction. Join us as we journey together through the pages of Scripture, uncovering hidden treasures and expanding our knowledge and experience of God. Get ready to be challenged, inspired, and equipped to live out your faith with hands and feet firmly rooted in the abundance of God's love. So grab your favorite beverage, get cozy, and get ready for an episode that will ignite a fire in your heart and draw you closer to the heart of Jesus. Don't forget to follow us on social media, because trust me, you won't want to miss out on the Christ-centered content we'll be sharing. Let's get started with the delightful Kristi McLelland on today's episode of Gospel Spice! Key takeaways from this conversation 1️⃣ Embodying the Word: Kristi emphasizes the importance of not just knowing Scripture, but embodying it. She draws upon biblical figures like Deborah, Ezekiel, and Jeremiah, who spoke about eating and embodying the Word of God. As Christians, we are called to be feasting saints, not just reading saints. 2️⃣ Prayer as Partnership: Prayer is not simply a request to God, but an opportunity to actively partner with Him in the restoration of the world. Kristi highlights the Jewish perspective on prayer, viewing it as contending with God and actively participating in bringing prayers to pass. Prayer should have hands and feet, actively engaging in the fulfillment of what is prayed for. 3️⃣ Abundance over Scarcity: Western culture often operates from a mindset of scarcity, resulting in competition and disunity. However, Kristi presents an alternative philosophy of abundance, rooted in the understanding of God's generosity. Living in abundance allows us to move through the world with sufficiency, generosity, and a powerful witness to others. MEET KRISTI MCLELLAND Professor. Teacher. Biblical Culturalist. Kristi is a professor at Williamson College and serves as a biblical culturalist. She has a Masters in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary and has dedicated her life to teaching people how to study the Bible. After studying in Israel and Egypt in 2007 and discovering that God is better than she ever knew, Kristi has been teaching the Bible through a Middle Eastern lens, in its historical, geographical, cultural and linguistic context. Kristi encourages believers to be postured to receive what God is saying, which is best done through communally experiencing Scripture. Kristi teaches about the goodness of God, experienced through table fellowship, practicing hospitality and collaborative wisdom. During her years as a professor at Williamson College and Director of Christian Education and Women's Ministry at local churches, Kristi has taught and shepherded thousands. Since 2008 she has led biblical studies trips to Israel and studied and trained under Dr. Jim Martin, Rabbi Ken Alpren and world-renowned Israeli archaeologist Dr. Gabi Barkay. Kristi's trips to Israel, Turkey, Greece and Italy, along with her Middle Eastern Lens classes, help Westerners study and appreciate the Bible as it was written by Middle Easterners in a Middle Eastern context. This lens offers a deeper look into what the biblical characters meant in what they did, said and wrote. This enhanced understanding of the biblical framework positions us to better open our eyes, ears and hearts to the Living God who is constantly pursuing us. Kristi is available to assist churches, colleges, organizations and other groups in discovering the Bible through a Middle Eastern lens. https://www.newlensbiblicalstudies.com/ We invite you to check out the first episode of each of our series, and decide which one you will want to start with. In this interview I am joined by Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya, a tantric priest in a centuries old Newari Buddhist family lineage, and master of the religious dance tradition of Charya Nritya. Prajwal Vajracharya recounts his upbringing and early training, explains why his lineage was kept secret for hundreds of years, the reasons for its emergence into public awareness, and why his family received criticism for opening up their sacred secrets. Prajwal describes the holy dance tradition of Charya Nritya and details its layers of spiritual meaning, impact on the subtle energetic body, and emphasis on embodied awakening. Prajwal also shares the application of Charya Nritya to meditation, deity yoga, and ritual, and reveals the stages of enlightenment in the Newari Buddhist tradition. … Video version: https://www.guruviking.com/podcast/ep227-the-vajra-master-prajwal-ratna-vajracharya Also available on Youtube, iTunes, & Spotify – search ‘Guru Viking Podcast'. … Topics include: 00:00 - Intro 00:54 - Prajwal's sacred family lineage 02:53 - 800 years of secrecy under oppressive Hindu rule 04:14 - Newari family rituals of the 10 paramitas 06:20 - 2200 years of lineage 07:38 - Secret Newari tantric masters 10:40 - Prajwal's remarkable father, Ratna Kaji Vajracharya 12:48 - Prajwal's family dynamics 15:23 - Learning holy dance at 8 years old 16:32 - The meditative training process of Charya Nritya dance 17:53 - The importance of the five Buddhas and their animals 19:56 - Charya Nritya key to enlightenment 20:44 - Embodying the deity 21:24 - Inner, outer, and secret mudras 22:12 - Practice in every moment 22:56 - The power of hand mudra 24:37 - The outer mudra of nature 25:20 - The role of sitting meditation 26:52 - Making a mind connection to the deity 27:40 - Becoming one with the deity 28:37 - The effect of holy dance on the audience 29:36 - Embodied vs intellectual dharma 30:31 - Breaking the secrecy and facing opposition 35:36 - Powerful subtle body effects 37:30 - Ritual and working with spirits 39:06 - Stages of Newari enlightenment 42:13 - Prajwal's teaching activities … To find out more about Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya, visit: - https://www.dancemandal.com/ For more interviews, videos, and more visit: - www.guruviking.com Music ‘Deva Dasi' by Steve James
Are we on the brink of a real estate revolution? In this episode, we navigate the terrain of legal challenges and industry transformations with the expertise of Patti Ketcham. Our discussion hones in on the ramifications of recent lawsuits against the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and how they're shaping the future of agent compensation and real estate practices. Patty sheds light on the need for real estate professionals to redefine their value proposition to clients amidst the shifting sands of commission negotiation and the possible onset of zero compensation listings. Our conversation spans the influence of social media, the misconceptions about the need for real estate services, and the impact of regulatory overcorrections on both the industry and consumers. Patti Ketcham stands out as a formidable force in Florida's real estate sector. At the helm of The Ketchum Group in Tallahassee, she is an esteemed broker, a revered instructor, and a pivotal member of the Florida Real Estate Commission. Patti's extensive experience and insightful leadership have made her an influential voice in shaping industry standards and educating the next wave of realtors. Dedicated to professional growth and industry integrity, Patti Ketcham's influence extends beyond transactions to the very heart of Florida's real estate community. In a rapidly evolving market, how can real estate agents stay relevant and resilient? Join us as we unpack these questions and more! [00:00 - 14:16] Adapting to New Market Norms and The Legal Landscape of Real Estate Adaptability is Key: Real estate professionals must stay informed and adaptable to industry changes. It's critical to have transparent conversations with buyers about how agents are compensated and the value they bring to the transaction. Real estate agents should articulate their value proposition to clients, reinforcing the importance of their services regardless of the compensation structure. Future-proof your practices by preparing for market shifts such as the emergence of zero compensation listings and adapt their business models accordingly. [14:17 - 28:44] Navigating Transparency, Education, and Value There's a significant gap in understanding between real estate professionals and consumers regarding agent compensation; transparency is crucial to bridge this gap. Buyers and sellers often do not realize the breakdown of commissions and the actual income of agents We need better financial literacy in real estate transactions. Real estate professionals have a duty to educate clients on how they are compensated and to dispel any misconceptions regarding their earnings. The real estate industry must ensure new agents are well-trained in contracts, neighborhood knowledge, and providing true value rather than relying on "shiny" marketing tactics. [28:45 - 39:48] Beyond the MLS: The Future of Home Selling and Buying As technology changes the landscape of real estate, professionals must adapt to new methods of marketing and selling homes. Recognize that industries often overcorrect before finding balance, and prepare for these shifts rather than fearing them. Stay flexible and informed Continuously learn and remain adaptable to serve the evolving needs of buyers and sellers effectively. Real estate agents should refine their ability to articulate their value proposition to clients in an ever-changing market. [39:49 - 47:29] Closing Up: Building Relationships and Expertise Building and maintaining professional relationships is crucial in real estate; it's never too late to start, but the sooner, the better. Real estate isn't just about transactions; it's about providing a service with a servant's heart, especially in the residential sector. Ethical practice and a deep understanding of real estate fundamentals are what will sustain professionals through industry shifts and legal challenges. At the end of the day: Embodying kindness, respect, and grace can be more beneficial and rewarding than simply outsmarting the competition. Quotes: “Let's look at future conversations we'll be having with our buyers; First of all, we've got to tell them how we're paid and what our value is.” – Patti Ketcham "A real estate sales contract is nothing but a set of promises between adults with deadlines." – Patti Ketcham "We're going to have to stay flexible… Those of us that have lasted through the years have adapted our services to the needs of our buyers and sellers as the market has changed." – Patti Ketcham "Maybe instead of maneuvering, strategizing, and outsmarting people, we go to kindness, respect, and grace." – Patti Ketcham To contact Patti Ketcham, learn more about her business, and make her a part of your network, make sure to visit her LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/patti-ketcham-4047764/ If you want to build your business and become more discoverable online, Streamlined Media has you covered. Free Stuff: https://livemyhappyhealth.com/free Exhale & Release: www.exhaleandrelease.com There's a revolution and a reckoning coming in the leadership space. Incompetent leaders are no longer allowed to get away with mediocrity. Quality leadership requires so many skills. Embodying authenticity, emotional regulation, excellent communication, holding a vision - all these things combine into a leader that people are happy to follow. Kat developed her particular brand of leadership by going against the status quo - which we all know wasn't built for visionaries, marginalized identities or women who are fiercely themselves. Kat realized early that there was a place for leaders who operate from their heart, fiercely protect their people and hold the vision. Kat and I discuss being unemployable by most companies, because most companies are lead by authority figures instead of leaders. We discuss the importance of becoming and working with and for leaders who embody integrity, trust and service. The next generation of leaders lead with love, embody integrity and live their values. Tune in to hear our conversation about how to truly embody leadership. Website: www.livemyhappyhealth.com IG: @amanda_chils FB: @amandachilscoach

Christopher Jain Miller's book Embodying Transnational Yoga: Eating, Singing, and Breathing in Transformation (Routledge, 2023) is a refreshingly original, multi-sited ethnography of transnational yoga that obliges us to look beyond postural practice (as̄ana) in modern yoga research. The book introduces readers to three alternative, understudied categories of transnational yoga practice which include food, music, and breathing. Studying these categories of embodied practice using interdisciplinary methods reveals transformative "engaged alchemies" that have been extensively deployed by contemporary disseminators of yoga. Readers will encounter how South Asian dietary regimens, musical practices, and breathing techniques have been adapted into contemporaneous worlds of yoga practice both within, but also beyond, the Indian Ocean rim. The book brings the field of Modern Yoga Studies into productive dialogue with the fields of Indian Ocean Studies, Embodiment Studies, Food Studies, Ethnomusicology, and Pollution Studies. It will also be a valuable resource for both scholarly work and for teaching in the fields of Religious Studies, Anthropology, and South Asian Religions. In this episode, I sit down with Cindy Linville – my mother and three-peat guest – to discuss all things being a grandparent, from the experience of watching your own children raise children; to the act of meeting children where they are; to witnessing your children mirror your own traits. We talk about what it means to Cindy to not care about what people think, how she and I have experienced setting and respecting boundaries around parenting and the grandparent-child relationship, and how we've navigated body talk discussions in our family. She shares the generational differences in parenting she has observed, what it means to find your unique “thing” as a grandparent, and gives her best advice to grandparents who want to be in their grandchildrens' lives while respecting boundaries.Key Takeaway / Points:On being a grandparent and watching your children raise childrenOn meeting your children where they areOn your children mirroring youUnpacking not caring what people think about youWatching the grandparent relationship growOn setting boundaries and respecting themOn the body talk discussions we've had within our familyOn the generational differences in parenting between millennials and baby boomersAdvice for grandparents wanting to be in their grandkids' lives while respecting boundariesOn respecting the relationship with in-lawsOn finding your unique “thing” as a grandparentCindy's best fashion and skin care tipsListen to Jay Shetty and Lori Gottblieb's conversation on boundaries hereThis episode may contain paid endorsements and advertisements for products and services.
