Florida A&M Law focused its annual MLK forum on the where minorities stand in America after the election. But is their places really any different from other Americans? Are things some how different, than when eight years ago when Barack Obama won? After all, the problems the communities of color are the same. FAMU Law brought two Democrats, Karen Andre, Obama administration official, Dejuana Thompson, Democrat strategist represented the Democratic view. On the Right FAMU invited Ashely Bell, member of the Trump Transition team, and John F. Davis, President of the African-American Chamber of Commerce to represent the republicans. This episode is showcasing the highlights, and our commentary on the back and forth.
Jonathan Wright is a candidate running for Democratic State Representative of District Four in Wayne County. His father is an accomplished and dedicated preacher. His father, also a physician, and younger brother were instrumental in organizing a mission in Haiti during the recent and ongoing crisis. Jon attended a parochial high school, where he learned the value of hard work. After graduating high school in 2003, he attended the University of Michigan, where he attained a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduating from law school, he moved into the heart of Detroit. His home is in the Boston-Edison District.This was the area where much of Motown Records was started and where many dreams became a reality. While studying law in Florida, he was introduced to a group called Kairos. Kairos is a non-profit ministry which places mentors with young men currently in juvenile detention centers. He served as a Youth Juvenile Center Minister, and had the privilege of mentoring two young men. His time with Kairos reaffirmed his desire to bring out the best in others.
