As Thanksgiving is this week I wanted to reflect on my gratitude for my mom. My mom was a stay at home mom and was lucky enough to be able to stay home and spend a lot of time with me as a child. Many of the life lessons around manners, religion, and domestic skills such as cooking and cleaning all came from my mom. My mom's attitude towards education is also what kept me somewhat engaged as a child with school even though I did not like attending when I was a kid. Having kids of my own has also helped me realize the amount of time, effort, and pain it takes to raise kids. For these reasons I am very grateful for my mom and the effort she put into me.Support the show

Nicole Tanner is the Founder of Swig, which sells customized drinks, cookies, and treats. She started Swig in 2010 due to her love of Diet Coke and because she noticed a lack of connectedness in other drive-thru concepts. She is a mom of five children and grandma of four grandbabies who enjoys hiking in the outdoors and spending time with her family. In this episode… How much experience do you need in your industry to be successful as an entrepreneur? For Nicole Tanner, one of the experiences she found most beneficial before launching Swig in 2010 was being a parent. She says tending to her childrens' needs and balancing their activities taught her plenty. It's clearly paid off, because what started as a single Swig location has multiplied to 50, with people convening from all over the US to visit the original location. On this episode of the Top Business Leaders Show, Rise25's Chad Franzen welcomes Nicole Tanner, Founder of Swig, to discuss the evolution of a drive thru location that serves flavorful drinks and sweet treats. Nicole talks about founding Swig out of enjoyment of Diet Coke and dissatisfaction with the drive-thru experience. She shares keys to her success, the process of concocting drinks including The Founder, Dew Gooder, and Just Peachy, and the benefits of becoming a franchisee with Swig.

Hello, and welcome to Mama Says Namaste! I'm Ashley Logsdon, your co-host and the founder of this podcast. Today, Nathan and I are diving deep into the topic of gender roles and relationships at home. In this episode, we open up about our own experiences and how our roles within our relationship have evolved over time. We share our initial expectations of traditional roles, how they shifted, and the valuable lessons we've learned along the way. We also discuss the importance of trust, having fierce conversations, and setting a clear family vision. Here's the twist - our roles and dynamics may not be what you would expect! We'll reveal how our family went through a major transformation and how it changed everything, from who became the primary breadwinner to who took on household responsibilities. Through all of this, we've come to understand that relationships are not about rigid roles, but rather about finding ways to blend our strengths and passions to create a balanced and happy home. If you're curious to learn more about shifting gender roles and how they can positively impact your relationships, then this episode is for you. So join us as we navigate the sometimes unpredictable journey of family dynamics and find clarity amidst the chaos. Mama says namaste!
A friend of ours who was a young mom came over and was holding a six-month old girl and chasing a two-year old active boy when she voiced her concern on her ability in re-entering the workforce at some point. She had worked as a legal professional and she and her husband made the decision that she would quit her full-time position to care for their children and she wasn't dissatisfied at all with the decision, just musing her concern. A purposeful decision like this is usually taken seriously and whether completely leaving a position or continuing to work part-time while caring for children, raising a family is a time of adjustment and change for many. A lack of confidence started to rear its head as we continued to speak, which is always a bit surprising to me as our “outer shell of confidence” doesn't always reveal the inner thoughts of inadequacy that most of us possess. I appreciated her honesty. Whether a stay-at home parent or one that balances a home and a side job, it is important to realize and affirm that there are many skills that are not only developed during this time of life but that are magnified while raising a family and handling life. Here, we cover five of those skills that are valuable when re-entering the workforce. Full article here: https://goalsforyourlife.com/reentering-the-workforce

A sentiment I've often shared is that “it's never too late to start,” and today's guest is a beautiful example of how you can begin your life as Spa CEO after moving through a different career journey and be wildly successful at any age. Joining me on this episode of Spa Marketing Made Easy is Debbie Brewer, the CEO of Beauty Brew Skincare and Spa, a full-service wellness and beauty spa in New Jersey. Debbie began her entrepreneurial path after raising three incredible women as a stay at home mom, and once her kids were grown, she pursued her passion for aesthetics, which also led the way to sugaring, an element of aesthetics she's building her legacy around. Within six months of opening her own business, Debbie went from $0 to $180K in revenue, and in this episode, we're talking about how she made it happen. In this episode, we discuss: Debbie's journey of discovering the world of aesthetics and her personal skincare journey healing hormonal melasma The transition out of filling the long-time role of stay-at-home mom for her family and moving into an aesthetics career, and eventually a Spa CEO of her own practice How partnering with Dermaconcepts, the distributors of Environ Skin Care, has helped set up Debbie for success through retail, treatments and gaining access to the exclusive resources Growth Factor Framework provides through our partnership with Dermaconcepts How Debbie looks at legacy and the steps she is taking now to move toward her long-term vision, plus, her words of wisdom for aestheticians on the cusp of transition and breakthrough To read the full show notes for this episode, visit: https://www.addoaesthetics.com/blog/352 Keep the conversation going inside the Spa Marketing Made Easy Community by clicking here.

This week I am getting into labels - "working mom," "stay-at-home mom," everything in between - not because these labels are inherently bad, but because we can inadvertedly make them mean something about our identity and self-worth. In fact, that is exactly what happened to me when I left my teaching job to run my business from home. There are all these narratives out there about what it means to be a working mom or stay-at-home mom, and with that it can be complicated to navigate what you actually want in life and motherhood. Download your free Aligned Motherhood workbook mentioned in this episode to start getting clear on your values and creating your fulfilled motherhood. Whether parents choose to prioritize child-rearing or strike a balance between their job and family obligations, the decisions they make are significantly impacted by their mindset—whether a negative or healthy mindset. In this article we will approach four key areas to concentrate on during times of feeling stagnant or trapped, aiming to guide us toward cultivating a heathier mindset. Those areas include motivation, confidence, education and technology. Full article here: https://goalsforyourlife.com/when-you-feel-stuck

Since we're not fans of the term “stay-at-home mom” because of its implications that the mom doesn't really “work” but rather just chills out at home, we're comparing our lives as a full-time mom at home vs. a full-time working (in the traditional corporate sense) from home mom. That was a mouthful!Context: Kat resigned from her high-pressure, corporate career two months prior to her son's birth and never returned to work- by choice- and he is now 14 months old (at the time this episode aired). April returned to her full-time corporate career in a work-from-home arrangement when her daughter was 4 months old. April's daughter is weeks away from her first birthday (also at the time of this episode airing). We discuss the highs and lows, pros and cons, what we are looking forward to the most, and what we are grateful for with our respective situations. Kat Hantas is the co-founder of 21 Seeds Tequila, one of the fastest-growing flavored tequilas. Kat's had an interesting journey - from thinking she wanted to be a doctor, then pivoting to the entertainment industry, and then being a stay-at-home mom for many years. She never would have thought that she'd launch a business in the liquor industry. It wasn't until she started noticing that her evening wine wasn't making her feel good and her doctor recommended that she move away from fermented spirits and into distilled spirits. In the process of exploring tequila options, Kat came up with the idea to start 21 Seeds Tequila - a fresh natural tequila made with real fruit. She was making this in her kitchen for years, until one day the demand became so much that her friend inspired her to start selling the bottles. This sparked the idea and Kat co-founded the business with her sister and good friend to make it a reality. The business was acquired by Diageo in just three years in March 2022 and the deal marked one of the largest female-founded liquor acquisitions to-date.In this podcast episode, Kat opens up about her journey with imposter syndrome and shares tips on overcoming it in her career in the entertainment industry and entrepreneurial ventures.
