This week in “Press Row,” Jordan Breen and MMAFighting and SiriusXM’s Luke Thomas discuss the Nevada Athletic Commission’s decision to allow Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor wear eight-ounce gloves, the NAC dubiously touting “safety” and “science,” Mayweather’s awkward attempts to downplay his own dominance while overstating McGregor’s chances to win and how “The Money Fight” has become a hyperreal experience.
Is there a smart and profitable way to wager on the red-hot Los Angeles Dodgers? @JoeFortenbaugh releases the best course of action before a conversation with Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook Manager Jeff Sherman, who delivers an update on sharp NFL futures and a Mayweather-McGregor action report. We wrap the show with the release of a wager for NFL Week 1. 0:00-0:45: Introduction 0:46-3:02: How to bet the Dodgers this weekend 3:03-8:40: Sharp NFL totals, Floyd-Conor w/Jeff Sherman 8:41-goodbye: NFL Week 1 wager Guest: Jeff Sherman (@golfodds)
The press tour for the Conor McGregor/Floyd Mayweather circus has officially kicked off and it's every bit the spectacle we were expecting. NFL payers are salty about the amount of money the NBA threw around in the first days of free agency. Is a strike in their future? Speaking of not going to work, should Amanda Nunes have been given a loss by forfeit for pulling out of her fight with Valentina Shevchenko the day of the bout? All this and an in depth review of Spiderman: Homecoming.
The guys are in the lab once again to see who's mans are out in these streets... this week we have Floyd & Conor getting each other riled up for their big fight, NBA players out here ballin outta control, & Rob Kardashian acting a fool to keep the Big K brand going strong. It's another PPV week, and we have a special guest picker, but first, the guys have to recap RAW and the weekend, which featured a bunch of wrestling-related shenanigans. They talk about some of the big moments on RAW, including whether or not they should have ended the show with a double-countout like they did. They discuss the Joe/Lesnar encounter, before moving on to Roman's future announcement. Glenn and Aaron have reservations about it. Plus, John Cena is now a free agent? That sets off some alarms in the Jobbing Out studios. In segment 2 (36:00) NFL tight end Vernon Davis joins the show for Money in the Bank picks. While the undercard is pretty much straight-forward, once the big matches hit, there's a lot of discussion. There's a straight split of who they believe should be Mr. Money in the Bank, while there's no consensus of all on who will win the women's match. Plus, even the title match ends up in dissension. In Segment 3 (1:10:30) Aaron and Glenn talk to Impact Wrestling's Eli Drake, who is staring down a pretty big match at Slammiversary. The Maryland native discusses his trip to OC and growing up in Hagerstown before turning towards wrestling. They talk the past few months at Impact Wrestling, what 2016 was like for the company, and his angle where he couldn't cut promos. After Eli departs, Aaron and AJ discuss New Japan Dominion, Okada/Omega 2, and the announcement of Floyd/Conor.
