Kaitlin Young is one of the true pioneers of women's mixed martial arts. Long before women's MMA received mainstream attention, she was helping build the sport through her performances inside the cage and her contributions behind the scenes. Kaitlin began her martial arts journey at age 14 in Taekwondo, eventually earning her black belt before finding her passion in Muay Thai. Her training led her to the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, where she transitioned into mixed martial arts and quickly established herself as an aggressive, exciting, and highly respected competitor. In 2007, she announced her arrival on the national stage by winning the HOOKnSHOOT Women's Grand Prix with three knockout victories in a combined time of just 1 minute and 45 seconds. The remarkable performance immediately cemented her status as one of the sport's top rising stars. Over a professional career spanning more than 15 years, Kaitlin competed for some of the biggest organizations in the world, including EliteXC, Invicta Fighting Championships, RIZIN, and the Professional Fighters League. Along the way, she faced many of the most recognizable names in women's MMA, including Gina Carano, Liz Carmouche, Amanda Nunes, Julia Budd, and Kayla Harrison. Beyond her accomplishments as a fighter, Kaitlin also played a key role in the growth of women's MMA as a matchmaker for Invicta FC, helping create opportunities and pathways for future generations of athletes. After officially retiring from professional competition in 2023, Kaitlin left behind a legacy defined by toughness, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to martial arts. In this episode, Kaitlin shares stories from her martial arts journey, discusses the evolution of women's MMA, reflects on some of the biggest moments of her fighting career, and offers insights gained from a lifetime dedicated to combat sports. On this episode of The A Game Podcast: Real Estate Investing for Entrepreneurs, Nick Lamagna sits down with Din Thomas — UFC pioneer, elite coach, commentator, storyteller, comedian, actor, and one of the most unique minds in the fight game by building skills not excuses. Din is the definition of reinvention. From early MMA days and building a life through grit and constant pivots, to coaching world-class athletes (including champions like Amanda Nunes) and becoming a standout voice in combat sports media, Din breaks down what it really takes to succeed when the path isn't clear and he is proof that legends aren't born, they're molded—in backyards and barber shops with VHS tapes and a whole lot of grit. He went from a former barber to cell phone activator to fighter and is a martyr for amateur mma in Florida even getting put in a cage for having people fight in one before it was a sanctioned thing! He made a bold decision to bet on himself leaving the well known ATT gym in Florida and went solo to follow his own vision for athletes he can mold and has made quite a name for himself as he went from the fighter to the coach and the business man now coaching up and comers and champions. You can find him everywhere including behind the mic on UFC BJJ events, Karate Combat events, behind the desk at UFC events and on Dana White's Looking for a fight with Matt Serra. Please welcome a true MMA original, the fighter, the philosopher, the master of reinvention This conversation is packed with practical takeaways for entrepreneurs, investors, athletes, and anyone chasing personal growth: ✅ How mental toughness is built (not inherited) — and how to develop grit through "small bites" and patience ✅ Why decision-making is the ultimate success skill in business, investing, and fighting ✅ The real secret behind top performers: saying "yes" fast, then adapting and pivoting when needed ✅ How to handle feedback and criticism without ego — and use it as fuel to grow ✅ Why social media can be a competitive disadvantage — and how Din protects his focus ✅ Communication, performance, and confidence: how Din used skills like acting/improv to level up in life and career ✅ Betting on yourself: leaving comfort, creating space, and letting the next opportunity find you Whether you're building wealth through real estate investing, scaling a business, trying to get your mindset right, or you're a UFC/MMA/Jiu-Jitsu fan who loves the behind-the-scenes journey of champions — this episode delivers.

Busy Thursday as we get ready for the colder temps to move in along with the snow! Should start sometime this afternoon & continue through tomorrow. In the news this morning, actor Timothy Busfield recently turned himself in to authorities after allegations of child sexual abuse and now he's facing new charges involving a 16 year-old girl, an ICE agent was attacked in Minneapolis yesterday & shot a man in the leg, Verizon has resolved it's outage from yesterday and has promised to provide account credits to it's customers, a man who heckled President Trump at a Ford factory has been suspended from his job…but a GoFundMe for him has already raised almost a million dollars, and a recall on Super Greens dietary supplements. In sports, the Bucks take on the Spurs tonight, the Badger men's basketball team face Rutgers on Saturday, a look at the NFL Divisional Round schedule, the College Football National Championship game is on Monday night between Miami & Indiana, Adam Theilen officially announced his retirement yesterday, and it looks like John Harbaugh is going to be the next head coach for the Giants. We let you know what's on TV today/tonight and we also discussed a list of "nearly perfect" comedy films and added a few more of our own. Cool story about an influencer who goes to farmer's markets to highlight local vendors and completely changed the life of a mom-&-pop beef jerky brand from Texas! And speaking of snacks, we looked at Instacart's list of the Top 10 Super Bowl snacks. If you're looking for something Super Bowl-esque, Cup Noodles is releasing three chicken wing-inspired flavors just in time for the big game. It's Hypothetical Thursday and Brian went first with his question, "Would you rather have constant diarrhea or constant constipation?" Jean asked, "Which Boston sports team would you pick to win a championship?" Elsewhere in sports, the UFC Bantamweight Championship fight between Kayla Harrison & Amanda Nunes at next weekend's UFC 324 has been postponed, a bunch of money & guns were stolen from Greg Biffle's home just weeks after his tragic death in a plane crash, and a high school football team is cancelling it's next season after it went winless….and scoreless for an entire season this year! Office Cora joined us just after 8am to talk about what she's up to this weekend in the 715. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a woman who found an interesting charge on her Chick-Fil-A receipt, a stranger who knocked on someone's door at midnight and asked them to make a pizza, a mom in the UK who made her kids pay for their own McDonald's, and a #FloridaWoman who tried to avoid being arrested by shitting on the cops.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jim and Matt kick off the show with British bantamweight Davey Grant, who joins live from the UFC Performance Institute as a brand-new Las Vegas resident. Fresh off rehabbing a torn bicep and injured nose, Davey talks about settling into life stateside, training his kids at Syndicate MMA, and why moving to America has changed the way he studies the sport — including watching fights live with a pen and paper to stay sharp on evolving MMA trends. The guys then unpack all the biggest storylines from UFC Qatar, where Matt takes a well-earned victory lap after going 2–0 in his picks — correctly calling Arman Tsarukyan's arm-triangle finish and Volkan Oezdemir's stoppage win.Later, women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko joins the show to discuss balancing her pursuit of all-time greatness with her creative “side quests,” from acting roles to drawing on her degree in film direction. With several options in front of her, Valentina reveals she's keeping a close eye on a potential trilogy with Amanda Nunes — especially now that the Lioness has expressed interest in meeting her again, this time at 125 pounds. Finally, in the wake of Ian Machado Garry's statement decision win, which capped off two straight weeks of top-flight welterweight action, Jim and Matt close the show by debating which 170-pound contender has earned the next shot at Islam Makhachev's welterweight title.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
