In today’s episode Steph and I are talking about the different steps each of us go through when preparing our work to sell. This is different for both of us because we each sell our work in different ways. I sell mine directly to customers via my newsletter and website. Whereas Steph sells through retailers. In our conversation we zone in on some of the challenging parts of the process which for me includes, lots photo editing and time on the computer and also those first moments just after hitting publish. For Steph its deciding when her works are ready to let go and actually packaging and sending them off. I think each of us has these moments with different aspects of the journey. I really hope you enjoy the episode! How I’m re-framing the ‘drudgery’ work of your art biz Switching modalities from creation to sales. Why we both work in collections. Caring for yourself emotionally while in sales mode. I hope you enjoy the episode. Steph and Beth talk about times they’ve been diagnosed and how helpful it is to know what you are facing. For Steph, a diagnosis of PTSD felt like a relief because she understood what she was dealing with and she knew that her psychologist understood, too. For Beth, knowing what type of cancer she had was instrumental in getting the right treatment. In general, no one likes to be labeled, but it turns out that labels can be helpful sometimes. Knowing what you are dealing with can make it seem manageable—including when you are dealing with a friend, co-worker, or family member who has a particular diagnosis whether it’s Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism, or even Diabetes.Buy the host a coffee and/or tea: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/dospod—Full transcript and show notes here: https://bit.ly/dospod85Words we use: https://dospod.us/wordsVoicemail & text: (850) 270-3308—Guests we are looking for: https://bit.ly/dospodguestSupport the show (https://www.buymeacoffee.com/dospod)
Welcome to the Daily Distance a new daily series from the creators of #WeGotGoals. In these short episodes, we’re bringing you one daily goal you can set for yourself during this chaotic time- one actionable thing you can do to move your body, connect with a friend, prioritize your mental health, get some work done, and practice a little bit of self-care. This Tuesday, Kristen catches up with Steph Dietz. She's on the brand marketing team at sweetgreen (and helping them do a ton of rad outreach in the healthcare community) and moonlights as a boxing instructor at Shadowbox Chicago. As a fellow person who strugglers to work out at home (me, the other person is me), she's recommending creating a space in your home for workouts that you truly love. For Steph, that means keeping her yoga mat rolled out 24/7 and accenting that space with meditation cushions and a favorite candle—and if she can make it happen in a West Loop studio, maybe you can too. Resources: Steph's teaching on the aSweatLife Facebook page LIVE on Thursday morning at 7am CDT—here's where she'll be teaching a Shadowbox-inspired workout. Steph's Instagram, filled with delicious looking #eatzbydietz. Here's where you can find the latest Shadowbox virtual workout schedule to enjoy the jab, cross, hook at home.
For Steph, family comes first. As a self-described 'dance mum' she frequently drives the youngest of her three children around the country for classes and competitions. Steph was adopted, and although her own upbringing was a happy one she has always wanted to know more about her birth mother and blood relatives. Now for the first time she has decided to try to find them and contact them. She has no idea whether her mother's relatives know of her existence, and what effect her search for them may have on their lives - or her own. Presented by Grace Dent. Producer: Viv Jones
Steph Wilson is the CEO of SK Chase. A present and insightful leader, Steph has a deep care for people and a generous heart. With nearly 15 years of entrepreneurial experience, Steph naturally sees what’s next, and is rigorous in her approach making sure that things get done properly. In today’s episode Steph walks us through one of the scariest moments in her business, when she and her partner thought they would have to fold the business and let go of everything...until she had one fresh thought that opened up the possibilities for a better option. That moment changed everything For Steph, business has been an act of self-realization and self-actualization that helped her understand that everything happens from the inside. She talks about how we don’t need to cling on for dear life because there is a metaphorical harness for all of us. There is always a safety net to catch us. This understanding literally saved her business and gave her a glimpse into who she really was. What she wants everyone to know is that all you need to do is let things come to you. It’s not on you to think about what’s next. If you just listen, what’s next will become clear to you in the moment. The only thing that is guaranteed she says is the resource that is inside of you!

In episode 105, Kestrel welcomes Steph Cordes, the Vice Chair of the Cordes Foundation, to the show. Having worked with Conde Nast and luxury fashion brands in the past, Steph now works to advance the Cordes Foundation's ethical fashion and sustainable supply chain initiatives. "I think my biggest takeaway was that minimum wage isn't a living wage, because they [garment workers she met in Sri Lanka] technically are paid minimum wage but that's not a living wage. They aren't able to have enough money to invest that in their families or their children." -Steph Cordes, Vice Chair of The Cordes Foundation In this episode, Steph shares more on how the Cordes Foundation believes that elevating the role of women is essential to building stronger economies and improving the quality of life for women, men, families and communities. She also shares some exceptionally powerful stories from the trips she has taken to meet with, and connect with women working in the garment industry around the world. For Steph, she sees a massive disconnect between designers and the actual people making their clothes in the supply chain.
