Josh Williamson and Hayden Sherman join Jace to discuss the return of Legion of Super-Heroes. Williamson explains the years-long process that led him to the series, his conversation with Mark Waid, why Superboy needed to return to the center of Legion mythology and why Lightning Lad serves as the emotional point of view for the opening story. Sherman discusses designing the future of the DC Universe, creating different visual languages for the Legion's many planets and drawing inspiration from classic Legion stories, European science-fiction comics, 2000 AD, Ronin, Judge Dredd and Spider-Man 2099. They also discuss introducing the enormous Legion cast gradually, honoring the property's passionate fan community and preserving the hope that has always defined the team. This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; even though we are Celebrating our 10th Year of Podcasting; we unfortunately exhausted all our energy on the Previous SDCC Reveals & Announcements Ep. So we are giving you a ReIssue episode instead from the Vault. (Originally Posted as Ep #143 - from October 2019). Original blurb: It’s a very special ep as we’re joined by not one, but two of favourite guests in Davey Damaged and Scotty so that’s right – it’s a Homer episode! Trent takes us through a vintage retrospective look at The Addams family by Playmates. Perfectly timed for Halloween, we wonder what could have been with this short-lived line and look to the future of the franchise as a new movie approaches. What characters didn’t get made, which ones make the camera glow and where does MC Hammer fit into it all? We make the jump to Show and Tell as Davey tries to trump us all with a purchase so large, we doubt it will actually fit in his toy room! There’s some DC, MOTU and even Final Fantasy options to choose from. Frank gives a lovely tribute showing that sometimes, the value of a toy; lays in more than its sticker price. Then it’s Quiz time and with Davey onboard, anything is possible. To say this episode goes off the rails is putting it mildly – but on the plus side we learnt that Trent can’t hold his liquor, Ben thinks photos record sound, Space Jam was an event and Rick Moranis is Trent’s muse. So hold on for this crazy ride that also serves as a farewell for one of the team…Support the show: http://patreon.com/toypowerpodcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Some writers just get a lot of work. Joshua Williamson is one of those guys who has written in a lot of corners of the DC Universe. He had a long run on Flash, wrote the Dark Crisis event, is the current writer on Superman, and is soon taking over Legion of Super-Heroes. He also has spent quite a bit of time in the Batman corner of the DC Universe, with a caretaker run on the main book in between James Tynion IV and Chip Zdarsky, and run on the most recent volume of Batman/Superman, and (salient for this episode) a long run furthering Damian Wayne's arc in the Robin ongoing and Batman & Robin. Tim and Frank take on a deceptively simple question: is Spider-Man actually a street-level superhero? Lovecraft geography detour: Providence vs. Newport, the racism asterisk, where Arkham actually came from The main question: is Spider-Man a street-level superhero at all? Defining street-level: it's about the tone and the stakes, not the powers — Daredevil pounds the tar, Batman is technically anything but blue-collar Peter Parker's sci-fi problem: his origin is basically Fantastic Four, the web shooters make him genius-tier, and Frank once asked his dad to build a pair Kraven the Hunter's magic jungle potion goes golfing A live tally of Spider-Man's rogues gallery — chameleon, vulture, Doc Ock, Sandman, Lizard, Electro, Mysterio, Green Goblin, Kraven, Scorpion, Morbius, Venom — and where each one lands on street / middle / cosmic The verdict: 5 street, 6 in-between, 1 cosmic — Spider-Man's distribution skews low-end, but he's genuinely hard to pin down "Spider-Man is a street-level hero the same way Breaking Bad is a show about a chemistry teacher." — the Breaking Bad Test Why pigeonholing hurts long-lived characters, and why the supporting cast is really what makes a hero viable Reading from Superman: The Never-Ending Battle by Roger Stern — Clark Kent finally becomes Superman across an entire beautiful page of prose Find us at beerwithgeeks.com — like, subscribe, leave a rating, and tell a friend.

Host Jeremy C. Park interviews Erika Sinner, who highlights her various entrepreneurial ventures and philanthropic efforts, along with her new podcast, book, and keynote presentation focused on the power of identity and empathy. Erika explains that her childhood experiences inspired her to focus on empathy and kindness, which led to her founding Directorie to help pharmaceutical and biotech companies access top talent and take drugs and treatments to market, and the nonprofit, Tiny Superheroes, to empower children facing illness and disability by helping them discover their inner superpowers. Erika discusses the Tiny Superheroes program, which provides children in hospitals with superhero capes and badges that they earn for each "mission" to help them feel empowered and supported during their medical treatments. The program aims to impact 5 million children over the next 5 years, with starter kits available for $29 that include capes, patches, and a monthly mission program focused on social-emotional learning. Erika explains that the program has expanded coast-to-coast and has received positive feedback from healthcare providers and families, with plans to bring it to Nashville, Memphis, and other locations. Erika and Jeremy talk about the importance and positive impacts of reframing medical experiences as superhero missions and how it also leads to increased hope, healing, and outcomes for the children. Erika highlights the podcast she launched this year, "The Blow Your Mind Podcast" and shares insights from a memorable interview with Mary Seitz, who rebuilt her company after being fired and now generates $100 million annually. Erika explains her "Blow Your Mind" framework, which consists of three steps: deciding who you want to be, building systems to support your future self, and tracking personal progress through evidence, which she shares as a keynote presentation. Erika discusses being founder and CEO of Directorie, which provides commercial services to small to mid-size healthcare companies, particularly those developing treatments for ultra-rare diseases. She explains how Directorie helps these companies by offering flexible commercial teams that can scale up or down based on FDA approval timelines and manufacturing delays. Erika also shares her experience as an author, writing a book about pet bereavement that has led some companies to update their bereavement policies to recognize pets as part of employees' families. Jeremy and Erika discuss corporate empathy and employee support, with Erika sharing insights from her work at Directorie and Tiny Superheroes on communication and performance coaching. Erika emphasizes the importance of building trust within teams, noting that her company made the Inc. 5000 list two years in a row due to these practices. She concludes by advising listeners to bet on themselves and not worry about what others think, encouraging them to pursue growth and fulfillment. Próximo programa: Supergirl (cine) / Supergirl - Woman of Tomorrow (comics).

Here's the audio-only version of the wild-ass YouTube performance that Maddy, Ry P, Ry T, and Todd did to raise funds for The Trevor Project (https://tilt.fyi/lWsgWRSOJc). We re-enacted the entirety of the Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends episode, "Seven Little Superheroes," featuring the Chameleon kidnapping the Spider-Friends along with Doctor Strange, Namor, Shanna, and Captain America. Despite facing a copyright strike from YouTube near the end of the show for showing footage of the original episode, the Mutant Agers persevere and continue their performance in a second video (both available on our YouTube channel, reinstated thanks to fair use guidelines).
