Have you ever glimpsed the truly ephemeral? Is it in the melting of a snowflake upon a cool window pane? The falling petals of a flower in spring? The laughter of a child in summer? Is it the brief and fleeting connection between lovers who might only meet once every thousand years? Is it the whim of the inscrutable and inhuman? Or is it, as so often is the case, the moment when a Type-Moon protagonist feels like he's got his whole life together and everything is really looking up for once? This month, Sara and Runa begin reading through Tsukihime ~ A Piece of Blue Glass Moon~ (2021), the remake of the vastly popular and influential game from Type-Moon, Tsukihime (2000). While the original game features more branching pathways and romance routes to explore, this installment of the remake focuses on Arcueid and Ciel's routes and for this episode, we'll be discussing Aruceid's route in particular. We begin following Shiki, a young boy who wakes in a hospital bed after a serious accident has left him near death. Throughout the world and across every surface he can see, there are pulsing, eerie red lines that cut through his vision. He discovers that, with very little effort, he can cut along these lines to utterly destroy anything with ease. Shiki Tohno, as it happens, can see Death - those lines represent the points at which anything be it human or monster or object can most easily fall to oblivion. After receiving a pair of glasses from a cool older lady who we don't meet again in this game (See Witch on the Holy Night for more info on her), Shiki strives to lead a normal, well-adjusted life with his new foster family. For the next seven years, at least, he is successful. After receiving word that his father, Makihisa, has died, Shiki is summoned away from his foster family and back to the Tohno mansion. There he meets Akiha, his younger sister who now acts as head of the family, and the maids Kohaku and Hisui who manage the household's domestic affairs. While he struggles to acclimate himself to this new environment, he suffers a bout of what is surely Normal Protagonist's Anemia and takes a moment to sit down on a park bench. That's when his life changes course entirely. That's when he sees the beautiful vampire with bewitching red eyes cross his path. That's when he decides that now, for the first time in memory, he wants to kill.Content WarningsDiscussion of sexual assault - 01:51:20 - 01:55:45

Welcome to another episode of Death Don't Do Fiction, the AIPT Movies podcast! The podcast about the enduring legacy of our favorite movies! It's November, so that means it's time for our “Xenovember” series, where we cover movies from another world! In this week's episode, Alex, Tim, and guest Chrissy Kurpeski discuss one of cinema's most infamous sequels, 1991's Highlander II: The Quickening!Competitive bullet wound counting! Corporate greed! Ozone layer fears of the 90s! Excessive use of a dam in Argentina! Giant fans! Set in the exotic future of 2024! Bald men speaking telekinetically maybe! A train decapitation! A dummy being tossed out of a window! Unexpected punishment for wanting to smoke! Sudden bagpipes! A Pretty Woman-style tailoring montage! Plentiful bone cracking sound effects! Music from the band Queen! Amazing scene transitions! An incredibly destructive Quickening! An iconic walking-out-of-flames shot! Reckless train driving! A violent board meeting! Unnecessary mistreatment of a cab driver! Public oxygen machines! A psychic cook! A terrifying airline safety video! Fantastic steampunky-future designs and sets, with fun, although-dated special effects! A cast that includes Christopher Lambert doing a creepy old man voice, an underused Virginia Madsen, Dr. Cox from Scrubs, Sean Connery either having a blast or making a fool out of himself, and Michael Ironside playing a character so over the top evil that he's named after a sword! Director Russell Mulcahy going all out for better or worse! All that and more in this sequel that takes more big swings than the ending of Signs and was such a dramatic departure from the original film that they released a new version of the movie in an attempt to make people forget the theatrical cut ever existed! Are they aliens or ancient humans? We may never know!In addition, Chrissy shares her spoiler-free thoughts on In the Mouth of Madness, Alex does the same for the 2025 I Know What You Did Last Summer requel, Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein, and Edgar Wright's The Running Man. Keep defying gravity. Bye. In today's Daily Fix:A financial report from Ubisoft may have revealed the release date for the long-rumored Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake. An entry for an 'unannounced title' dropped March 31st, 2026 is fueling speculation that the remake will be announced soon. The title is supposedly being made by the Ubisoft Shanghai team, the same studio behind Skull & Bones, which itself started as a spinoff of the original AC: Black Flag. In other news, some old friends will be popping up in Resident Evil: Requiem, but don't get too excited over the possibility of playing as multiple protagonists. Requiem's producer confirmed that past characters will show up, but he said to not "over-hype it." And finally, Nintendo is taking down fan-made character art in Kirby Air Riders, specifically those of a bikini-clad Chef Kawasaki. Yes, that's a sentence you just read.

Sebastian recalled a conversation in which Valve acknowledged it won't be sold at a 'console price,' i.e., around $500. We here at IGN think it'll sell for—on the low end—$700-800. In other news, Battlefield 6 had a strong debut month, coming in at number one in game sales. Its closest competitor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, just dropped this month, so it remains to be seem who wins the holidays. And finally, Silent Hill 2 Remake is now available for Xbox Series X after being shadow dropped with a nice 50% discount.
We review all three pillars of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7! Plus, analysis of Valve's new Steam Machine, Steam Controller 2, and Steam Frame VR! Our review of the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D remake, the biggest Lightning Round news roundup ever, and much more!

Austin spent a lot of time with the HD-2D remake of Dragon Quest 2, and it's by far the better adaptation in the new collection. Hear what he has to say about the new scenarios and character, and why the Prince of Cannock might not be quite as bad as he used to be. Also, Beej forgot to ask him about the kitty cat suit, and he feels terrible.
