We've had tons of conversations off the mic, and we were finally able to record one with the active, energizing, and fierce Ashley Miser. Ashley is the Vice President at IndyHub, a local nonprofit whose mission is to grow, engage and empower a community of 20-and 30-somethings who are meaningfully connected to Indy and invested in its future. We got Ashley's perspective on the culture of our city, young professionals' levels of connection, and the success of IndyVolved 15. In every conversation we have, I always learn something new about Indy. Always reminding me to never sleep on Naptown.
Blake Johnson left his hometown of Daleville to attend Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida and upon graduating with a degree in economics and political science he returned to Indiana. Why would he leave the sandy beaches and year-round sun? His love for Indianapolis, our people, and our culture. You can see Blakes passion for our city in his blog article titled Moving? 5 Reasons Why Living in Indianapolis Should Be at the Top of the List. At the ripe old age of 32, Blake was named as the President of IndyHub, an organization dedicated to growing and empowering Indy’s community of 20- and 30-somethings who are meaningfully connected to and invested in (or who want to be) the city. In this episode, you’ll hear Blake speak about his background and path to becoming the President of IndyHub, which is an organization that represents and advocates on behalf of Indy’s 20- and 30-something crowd and helps to get them connected to our city, why he has such a passion for Indianapolis, and the initiatives of IndyHub and how you can get involved. Civic Engagement How to stay IndyVolved hosted by Lesley Gordon
Meet Lesley- she gave birth singing to Beyonce. Full on, belting out Beyonce at the hospital such that others down the hall came to know her. Beyond that claim to fame, she’s the kind of woman we all could be so fortunate to call our friend (and I’m grateful to claim that status!). She’s crushing her career in public service by way of community outreach and communications after starting out in college with aspirations of being...a dentist. What a change in course! We get ultra-detailed about the things our friends don’t tell us about childbirth and the early days of mothering (you’re welcome), what efforts she’s putting forth to practice self-care and how we can all give back to our communities by volunteering. Your first task, if you’re an Indy local, is to mark your calendars for IndyVolved 14 on June 13, 2019 and connect with over 100 organizations who looking for someone just like you!
