Richard Linklater's Dazed & Confused  On this week's episode we explore 1976 through the eyes of 1993, with Richard Linklater's slacker/high-school masterpiece, Dazed & Confused. Linklater's love letter to high school coming-of-age films is one of the stand-out productions of early 90s independent cinema; a film that blends aimless storytelling with a pounding and nostalgic 70s soundtrack, to reminisce on the good, bad, boring, and character forming experiences of growing up. Juniors becoming Seniors, Middle-Schoolers transitioning to High School, Dazed & Confused is much more than a re-creation of Texas in 1976. Linklater's film is a funny, touching, and - surprisingly - heart-warming story of finding ones' way, selling out, peaking in high school, and imagining the future and ones' place in it. It's about the friendships we make and how so much of that plays a part in building our individual characters. Dazed & Confused is a cult classic which began the careers of Jason London, Adam Goldberg, Joey Lauren Adams, Cole Hauser, Nicky Katt, Parker Posey, and Matthew McConaughey. It's a thrill for Mr. Chavez & I to return to this classic and examine how so much of it mirrors our own lives. Take a listen and let us know what you think. Isn't it great being a young adult in the 90's? From the king of “coming of age” Richard Linklater, we're covering the film adaptation of the Eric Bogosian play SUBURBIA about a bunch of white suburban teenagers figuring out their futures while hanging outside a corner-store gas station. Starring Giovanni Ribisi, Amie Carey, Steve Zahn, Parker Posey, Nicky Katt, and Jayce Bartok. A darkly comic drama depicting a slice of American culture through the perspective of a bunch of dysfunctional teens dealing with the baggage that has crept into their lives and their constant observations about the world around them. There's tragedy. There are $2.79 6-pack PBR's. And oh, but plenty of tragedy, let's not forget. In short, try to be more like Steve Zahn!

This week on Forgotten Cinema: Lead Up, the Mikes continue their road toward "Scream 7" with "Scream 3", the most divisive entry in the franchise.Coming off "Scream 2", the highest-reviewed film in the series, "Scream 3" holds the unfortunate distinction of being the worst reviewed. Mike Field still enjoys the movie, but it is his least favorite of the franchise so far. His biggest issue comes down to the killer reveal, which he finds underwhelming, especially when you factor in the original script, the late production change to a single killer, and the moments where you can clearly tell the film was staged for two Ghostfaces.Mike Butler also enjoys the film, especially the Gale & Dewey relationship, but shares some of those frustrations. He would have preferred the climax to stay within the Hollywood studio setting that the movie spends so much time establishing, rather than shifting to a Scooby-Doo-style mansion. He also argues that Patrick Dempsey being revealed as the killer and Sidney's half-brother would have made far more sense both narratively and thematically.Despite its flaws, "Scream 3" is still a fun watch. The kills are inventive, the meta elements continue to evolve, and Parker Posey is a standout as the actress portraying Gale Weathers in the Stab films within the film. It may be messy and compromised, but it still understands the spirit of the franchise and delivers plenty to enjoy. So join the Mikes as the go through each film in the "Scream" saga leading up to the release of "Scream 7".Are you sad we never got to see a full episode of "100% Cotton"? Pol' Atteu and Patrik Simpson celebrate a milestone episode of Undressed with Pol' & Patrik, broadcasting for the first time from their brand-new West Hollywood studio, before diving headfirst into a fearless, unfiltered 2026 Golden Globes red-carpet breakdown. The episode opens with SnowBuBu love, Armenian coffee cup reading reminders, and Pol's signature fashion education as the duo identifies this year's dominant trends: minimalism, sheer “naked” dressing, metallics, sculptural tailoring, and statement diamonds. From there, the gloves come off. Pol' and Patrik critique the night's biggest looks, hits, and misfires—debating Owen Cooper's Bottega Veneta, Patrick Schwarzenegger's Dolce & Gabbana tux, and Zoë Kravitz's Saint Laurent nightgown-meets-Easter-tablecloth moment. Fashion triumphs shine with Teyana Taylor in Schiaparelli Haute Couture, ultimately crowned Best Dressed of the Night, praised for commanding the carpet with confidence, movement, and flawless execution. The runway rundown spans standout and controversial appearances from Nikki Glaser (Zuhair Murad), Natasha Lyonne, Amy Lou Wood, Alex Cooper (Gucci), Amelia Gray (Swarovski), Amy Poehler, Ariana Grande (custom Vivienne Westwood couture), Pamela Anderson, Parker Posey, Queen Latifah (Gaurav Gupta), Timothée Chalamet, Walton Goggins, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Bell, Chloë Zhao, and a universally praised Jennifer Lopez in vintage Jean-Louis Scherrer. One of the night's biggest surprises? Connor Storrie (Heated Rivalry), named Best Dressed Man, wearing Saint Laurent with Tiffany & Co. jewelry, earning praise for immaculate tailoring, confidence, and star-making presence. The episode wraps with Pol' and Patrik's final verdicts—celebrating fashion that elevates the event and calling out looks that missed the mark—delivering couture insight, pop-culture commentary, and laugh-out-loud banter that defines Undressed. It's autumn in New York, and we're feeling the love with another Nora Ephron rom-com. This week, we're dialing up the classic Tom Hanks-Meg Ryan tale of “boy meets girl in internet chat room, boy discovers girl's true identity, and then boy kills girl's business and destroys her livelihood.” Audiences loved the third team-up of Hanks & Ryan (following Joe Versus the Volcano and Sleepless in Seattle) in this flick that retells Miklós László's 1937 play Parfumerie, which had previously been adapted as The Shop Around the Corner in 1940 and In the Good Old Summertime in 1949. Updated for the early online era, this version features an ensemble including Greg Kinnear, Parker Posey, Steve Zahn, Dave Chappelle, and Jean Stapleton. Although the movie booked over $250 million at the box office, not all critics penned rave reviews. One reviewer called the film “almost unwatchably saccharine, representing pretty much everything wrong with today's big-budget, high-concept Hollywood filmmaking,” while others bemoaned its rampant product placement. Less than two years after its release, the corporate marriage was consummated when America Online, the originator of the film's titular salutation, and studio Warner Bros. merged to form AOL Time Warner. Guest host Maria Randazzo welcomes comedian and writer Katie Rich (“Saturday Night Live,” “Harley Quinn”) to unpack Parker Posey's memoir “You're on an Airplane: A Self-Mythologizing Memoir.” They examine the “White Lotus” and “Party Girl” star's rise to 90s indie film darling, her friendship with writer-director Nora Ephron, the joys of working with Christopher Guest, and the possibly coded messages about some terrible Hollywood men. Plus, dog psychics, a trashy Chex Mix recipe, and why Robert De Niro just wanted Parker to commit.
