Hello friends! The Journal of Texas Music History just released its 23rd volume featuring an in-depth oral history of Texas Black Rock Maverick, Bevis Griffin written by musician and research librarian at Texas State University, Jason Crouch. Bevis Griffin and Jason Crouch are my guests on the show today. We have a great conversation about the story in The Journal of Texas Music History, the magazine itself, Jason's accidental career as a writer, Bevis' early musical years in Wichita Falls, TX, a chance encounter and jam with a young Billy Gibbons, the Austin scene in the 70's and 80's, Jason and I talk about our residency we had together at Steamboat in the 90's, Bevis' pivot to educator and much more. I had a great time catching up with my old friends. I'm sure you will too. Let's get down! Get a copy of The Journal of Texas Music History HERE Get information for Bevis M. If you have been a listener since December of 2008, you'll remember the early days with Jason Crouch as co-host of Social Media Edge. Jason left the show a few years ago to focus on things that make better sense for his life, his family, and his service. Join us as we catch up with Jason and find out how he's using social media in his multi-faceted world.
Social Media Edge Radio In mid-summer Ken Cook decided to share with his Twitter friends some of the tips and techniques he was learning by using the service. He would review news and technical releases and try new tools then talk about them on a podcast. Those first shows were a true "podcast" recorded in his office then uploaded to a server and he invited others to listen. Back on August 18th 2009 Ken learned about Blog Talk Radio and decided to give it a try. Those first few painful shows were fifteen minutes long and called Twitter Tuesday. They were broadcast live from Noon to 12:15 on Tuesdays usually to an empty chat room and a live audience of 3 or 4 listeners. In December that year Jason Crouch joined as co-host of Social Media Edge Radio and the audience continued to grow. Mike Mueller joined in late winter of 2010 and Jeremy Blanton joined in Spring of 2010. We've had many, many wonderful guests and you can see them all at http://socialmediaedge.com/past-guests/ thanks to Mike Mueller's diligent efforts in keeping the Wall of Fame up to date. A BIG THANKS to everyone who has ever listened or sponsored the show - you are why we are still growing!
