Deb Wolfe asks what is most likely to hurt you at Yellowstone? Is it a Bison? What should you do if a wild animal charges at you? A listener asks, ‘Why does my cat never get stoned off catnip?' Deborah gives the science behind catnip and shows you her 3 rescue cats enjoying a catnip high at debwolfepetexpert on YouTube. There is a right way and a wrong way to walk a dog through a crowd and the man Deb Wolfe saw at the Caribbean parade and Fifa crowd fest in Victoria, B.C., Canada, was doing it wrong! Please check out the footage on Deb's Facebook and tell us what you think was going on with this guy and his dog walking between his legs? Send text, emails or voice clips to deb@petliferadio.com with your comments, pet questions and suggestions please.
Deborah describes some differences between wolves and dogs including bite force and gives you some basic facts about wolves and the issue of the cull. Deb Wolfe asks ‘ Why do we decide it's a choice between wolves vs caribou when it's our fault the wolves can reach the caribou through corridors we made into the forest?' also in other areas where wolves were hunted later on problems with overpopulation of larger animals hurt the smaller and the wolves had to be returned to restore the vegetation so all species would have food. Do you believe the wolf cull should happen? Do you believe it's ok to capture one wolf, radio collar it and then track it back to its pack to shoot them all from a helicopter? The riddle of the day is what popular cocktail in Canada has a connection to an animal that was rescued? Did you know that cats have expanding and flexible spines? Deb Wolfe teaches you and demonstrates how to howl so dogs will join you and howl along with you.EPISODE NOTES: The Big Bad Wolf... or Nature's Greatest Hero?Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/animal-party-dog-cat-news-animal-facts--6666735/support.

Would you want a tail? 2 Grade 12 Calgary students invented a human tail that I do believe you'd be lining up for if you had a balance issue like Parkinson's disease. 230 Bear attacks in Japan!!! And Deb says about last year's Superman movie, ‘Krypto get the toy'! if you don't know what that refers to watch the movie! Why should you send Deb Wolfe your pet questions and not AI? Because if you don't ask the exact right question to AI, specifying carefully what vetted sources to check, it defaults to general possibly out of date, often incorrect info. Swallows for example can be reached by cats if the birdhouse and nest are 8 feet off the ground, though AI told us to build it there. Contrary to the first AI answers swallows do not care about human scent and their nests can be moved successfully but it was only after specific searches to sources such as the Audubon Society and legitimate authorities that Deb found the correct answers and saved the baby birds.EPISODE NOTES: Trump Look-Alikes, Puppy Chaos & 230 Bear Attacks?!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/animal-party-dog-cat-news-animal-facts--6666735/support.

Deborah starts the show with the best use for 3d printing, asking you to guess what animal a 3d printer helped? Marineland mammals get a new life in America. Can a turtle 'learn'? When the dogs signal 'stay where you are', and the man says 'come on through' Deb says listen to the dog, ignore the man. When dogs aren't socialized properly to kids and odd things like scooters and wheelchairs, bad things happen, so do your due diligence to teach your dogs what is ok, and kids are ok! Remarkable Serval cat facts. Deb talks about different mama dogs she's experienced over the years and how they almost always want no other dogs around their newborns, but this mama doodle dog welcomes the poodle papa into the whelping pen like a wolf throwback. In this episode, we sit down with Jessica from Jessica's Animal Friends to talk about what it's really like running a rescue for disabled reptiles and exotic animals while sharing the journey online. Jessica opens up about the reality of rescue work—the incredibly rewarding moments, the emotional challenges, and the heartbreaking losses that come with caring for animals that need extra support. We talk about the impact social media has had on her mission and what keeps her going through the difficult moments. In this episode, Daniel Yates presented his research on the neuroscience of reptiles. Daniel shared his PowerPoint presentation titled "Learning Science and How to Deal with People for My Reptiles," focusing on the brain anatomy of reptiles and how it compares to human brain structure. He explained key concepts, including the three "humps" of the reptile brain (forebrain, mid brain, and cerebellum), the optic tectum's role in processing visual information, and how different reptile species have adapted their brain structures based on their environments and behaviors. Daniel discussed various studies, including a 40-species analysis and shared his hypothesis about how reptiles perceive and interact with their environments. The conversation also touched on his personal background in science and his approach to studying reptile neuroscience, emphasizing the need for more research in this area.SHOW NOTES: https://www.animalsathomenetwork.com/252-daniel-yates/SPONSORS: Visit The BioDude: https://www.thebiodude.com/ Visit Zoo Med Labs here: https://zoomed.com/JOIN US ON PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/animalsathomeLINKS FROM THE EPISODE:https://www.youtube.com/@UCETeOch6OVLTC9GQPR3_QhQ PDF DOWNLOAD: https://www.animalsathomenetwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Neuroscience-of-Reptiles.pdf
The Natural History Museum of London is getting ready to move 28 million of its precious specimens to a new state-of-the-art home. Imagine moving tens of millions of delicate animal and plant specimens, gathered from all across the world, over the centuries. Some are as big as a bus, some so tiny you need tweezers to pack them. Some are millions of years old. How to move 350 taxidermy tortoises? The biggest weigh half a tonne. Then there is the ten-metre anaconda. The team may have to get him out through the lift shaft. What if moths get in? What if something gets lost? It is a logistical puzzle on a mind-boggling scale. When the collections eventually arrive in their new home, scientists and researchers present and future will be able to explore the specimens' vast amounts of data, much of it yet untapped, using the latest digital, analytical, and genomic technologies. With Dr Jeff Streicher, senior curator in charge, Amphibians and Reptiles and Richard Sabin, principal curator, Mammals.
