What if one of the simplest children's games was never meant to be a game at all?On today's episode of The Conscious Diva Podcast, I'm joined by Polina Rud, author of the new book The Cosmic Game of Snakes and Arrows: An Oracle for Mapping Your Destiny — a modern reimagining of an ancient spiritual teaching that includes the original game board itself.Long before Chutes and Ladders appeared in playrooms, there was Gyan Chaupar — the Game of Knowledge. It wasn't designed for entertainment, but for awakening. In this conversation, we explore:- How this ancient spiritual map became a modern board game, what was lost when meaning was stripped away.- Using the game as an oracle and a powerful divinatory tool. - How The Cosmic Game of Snakes and Arrows invites us to work consciously with destiny, choice, and self-awareness.- Polina explains how each square/tile on the board provides a philosophical key representing different levels of human experience. About Polina: Polina Rud is a doctoral candidate in art history at Moscow University with a master's in international relations. She is an art curator and lecturer with expertise in Theosophy, Nordic runic oracles, and Hindu astrology. She combines therapeutic experience, including mental health and suicide risk training at UNAM, with diverse spiritual teachings, and is the co-founder of El Mundo Duele, an NGO that provides psychological support to human rights and climate activists. She's also a renowned gyan caupar guide; helping individuals uncover hidden obstacles. Heavy Metal Tones Episode 262 – Rush: Snakes & ArrowsThis week on Heavy Metal Tones, I dive deep into Rush's 2007 album Snakes & Arrows — a record that sees the progressive rock legends embracing heavier riffs, darker themes, and a fiercely modern edge. From its political bite and philosophical weight to Alex Lifeson's crushing guitar tone, Geddy Lee's sharp bass work, and Neil Peart's towering lyrical vision, this episode explores why Snakes & Arrows stands as one of Rush's boldest late-career statements. A journey through progressive power, social commentary, and unmistakable Rush brilliance. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Dr. Jenkins sits down with Shane Ngwenya, an aspiring herpetologist beginning graduate studies in South Africa. Shane reflects on his childhood as a herder, where encounters with snakes were once rooted in fear and conflict, and how a growing fascination with the natural world ultimately reshaped his perspective. That turning point came during a formative field course in Kruger National Park led by faculty including Bryan Maritz, a previous Snake Talk Podcast guest, whose mentorship helped inspire Shane's path into herpetology. Shane discusses his honors research examining gecko communities across diverse habitat types and offers insight into the rich reptile and snake communities of Kruger. The episode also looks ahead to his upcoming graduate work, which will explore how elephant exclusion fences influence reptile habitat and community structure in protected landscapes.Connect with Shane at the University of the Western Cape.Looking to learn more? I have a nice little compound in the city, but I can hear traffic from where I live even though my house backs up to a park. My whole life, I've searched for the calm to balance the chaos in my life. A grassy field. A Park where my kids could play. Squirrels would play. People laughing in the background. And then, I made my way to Oklahoma in search of a ranch. I didn't just find any ranch, I found a ranch that has become the representation of abundance in my life. My compound efforts of working hard 7 days a week, making sacrifices, and staying consistent, even while under attack at various times mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially.......... It's covered with trees, a huge river that runs through it, rolling little pastures, and multiple lakes stocked with fish. Snakes abound. Turtles. Wild hogs, coyotes, and hundreds of head of cattle roaming the wide open spaces. My compound efforts at work helped me to create a compound both in the city and country where I can find my grounding necessary to live the next version of my life successfully. And you can to, but you have to start by creating something that produces a compound effect. This week, James and Will are joined by Scottish ex-pro turned team manager, commentator and pundit, Brian Smith.Brian cut his teeth in the 1980s at the school of cycling hardknocks, ACBB – Athletic Club de Boulogne-Billancourt – in Paris, whose alumni include Jacques Anquetil, Stephen Roche and Pippa York, before turning pro with the legendary British Banana team in 1991. Three successful seasons followed including his first British national road race title, which led to Brian catching the eye of the Motorola team bosses. He signed for the American outfit in 1994, and went on to race alongside Lance Armstrong, Andy Hampsten and Phil Anderson. Brian won his second British national road race title that same year, but as we discuss in our chat, despite such success he found himself disillusioned and on the outside of a sport he loved as cycling embroiled itself in its darkest doping years – something Brian wanted no part of. He hung up his racing wheels in 1996 but returned to the pro-peloton in 2011 as directeur sportif for Endura Racing, where he stayed as it evolved into MTN-Qhubeka then Dimension Data, before retiring in 2014.Today, Brian can be found with a microphone in hand as a commentator and pundit for Eurosport, and among other parts of that job, Brian discusses his love of commentating and watching the lesser-known Tour of Hellas, a five-stage race around Greece which this year takes place between 6th and 10th of May, so keep an eye out for that one. There are probably few people with as much experience across the last four decades of cycling as Brian, and certainly few people who talk so candidly about everything from being invited into 'the program' by Lance Armstrong, to having a snake thrown into his shower by Shane Sutton. So get the kettle, pin back your lugholes and listen to this one.Interview begins at 3.44------------------The Tour of Hellas in Greece is a five stage race taking place from 6th - 10th May 2026. Empires don't begin with heroes — they begin with mothers who refuse to lose. Olympias ruled from the shadows using fear, religion, and assassination, making sure history remembered her son as a god and forgot anyone who stood in his way. If Alexander conquered the world with a sword, Olympias conquered history with snakes, curses, and a body count. Hosted by Ben Thompson, with co-host Dr. Patricia Larash, this episode unpacks how power really worked in ancient Macedonia — and why Olympias may have been the most dangerous person in the room.
Britt and Chris have finally watched the BoSaS movie...just 2 years late. They explore Lucky Flickerman's ridiculous heights of hilarity, Lucy Gray's songs and accent, Sejanus' character adaptation, and of course the portrayal (more like poortrayal) of Coriolanus Snow. They also touch on a quote that absolutely broke Chris, the Capitol's architecture and costuming, and Dean Highbottom, Dr Gaul, and Clemensia's representations. It's the future but they are dressed like it's the past and all their cars are old timey??? Today we are talking about the movie adaptation of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The cast is star studded, the movie had to make lots of changes because the book is long, and Lucy Gray maybe shouldn't sing ballads without some instruments. Also, if your boyfriend has a shaved head maybe don't sing a song about him being white and pure even if his last name is snow, it's just giving Nazi.WARNING: murder, child abuse, gun violenceBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/book-cult--5718878/support.

The world as we know it has imprints of secret societies. From the Bohemian Grove in Hollywood to the Tea Party and Freemasonry, our culture, history, social gestures and theology are all impacted. What role will Secret Societies have in the future? Are they still relevant? Guest Leo Lyon Zigami Author Leo Lyon Zagami uses the Illuminati's internal documents and reveals confidential and top-secret events. His book contends that the presence of numerous Illuminati brotherhoods and secret societies—just as those inside the most prestigious U.S. universities such as Yale or Harvard—have always been guides to the occult. From the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO)'s infiltration of Freemasonry to the real Priory of Sion, this book exposes the hidden structure of the New World Order and the occult practices of the various groups involved with it, including their connections to the intelligence community and the infamous Ur-Lodges. Guest: Mark Anderson Roving Congressional and Bilderberg reporter/editor Mark Anderson returned to the Republic Broadcasting Network in November 2018. Mark formerly was a regular RBN host from 2008 through 2012, usually under the name “When Worlds Collide.” His current RBN show is STOP THE PRESSES!, which is also the name of a looseknit news association he directs to coordinate well-vetted outlets of the alternative media to make it more unified and more widely known by the general public. Also known as The Truth Hound, Mark is perhaps best known for his firsthand coverage of the subversive, influential think tanks and institutions that form “The Bilderberg Network.” He is also the only alternative news reporter who maintains official credentials to periodically cover the U.S. Congress in person.
