In a previous episode, we delved into the OCCK and the web of notorious criminals in Oakland County. Could there be more victims? Nadine O'Dell, a 16-year-old girl who disappeared in 1974, could be one of them. While the OCCK mostly targeted a specific victim profile in Oakland County, could Nadine's disappearance be linked to the OCCK or is a different perpetrator responsible for Nadine's disappearance? The OCCK killings took place between 1976-1977, where 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls aged 10-12) were abducted and murdered by an unknown killer in Oakland County, Michigan. The bodies were found within 19 days of the abductions, and the cause of death was either strangling or shooting. Despite the largest murder investigation in US history at the time, no arrests were made and leads eventually dried up. There may have been 2 other connected murder cases. The killer was dubbed as the, "Babysitter killer", because the killer kept the victims fed and bathed before murdering them...You can also follow us on our social media accounts:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/wednightmysteries/YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@wednightmysteriesMusic:Consequence - Wonders - Kevin MacLeod
The investigation continues as Williams gets some new information from Lawson surrounding the OCCK case, names of individuals he says were involved. If he's telling the truth it means the OCCK is connected to something much larger, and much more sinister (believe me, it's possible) than just the brutal murder of 4 innocent children. Along with this lead Williams is given a tip coming straight from the family of Tim King. These developments change the entire course of the investigation, and Williams is disgusted with what he discovers not only about these pedophiles but also the individuals working for the MSP during the time of the killings. Another child goes missing from Oakland County, only this one is found in Ohio, and the circumstances seem different. Due to this and other incidents in the community, tensions begin to rise. Judy Ferro's case is ultimately put to rest, but that only leaves more questions regarding the other victims. A lot has happened in a short amount of time, so in this episode I also step back and take a look at the overall events that have occurred in the first few months of 1976. Like the Pied Piper, the Oakland County Child Killer or the Baby Sitter Killer lured at least 4 known children to their deaths. 2 girls 2 boys from 1976 through 1977 were kidnapped and murdered. The killer seemed to take great lengths to care for his victims, going so far as to press their clothes and stage the locations the children were found. Today we dive a little bit further into the connection between a secluded island in Northern Michigan, called North Fox Island and The Oakland County Child Murders. During the seventies, North Fox Island was known as a quiet retreat, a private oasis, and a camp for boys. But what was it really? To grab J. In September 1977, Birmingham Michigan has it's third murder in less than two years. Authorities are quick to point out that this murder "was not related to the Oakland County Child Killer" Who murdered art dealer and reverend John McKinney? His business but him in contact with OCCK victim Timothy King. Could McKinney have knowledge of the child killings? Or was it all a coincidence? #murder #art #unsolved #execution
From 1976 to 1977, a serial killer stalked and murdered four Michigan children. Detroit was gripped in fear. Parents held their children closer while the infamous “stranger danger” term became a famous term known to this day, There are many different theories about who committed these murders, but decades later, no one has paid for these murders. In this concluding episode, I have comments from J. Reuben Appelman, the author of The Kill Jar, a book about this case. This is one of the most disturbing cases you will ever read about. May, 1975, two cousins, Scott Hardy and Mark Mellendorf walk from Mellendorf's home in Lapeer County Michigan to Tody Lake for some fishing. When the boys don't return home, their parents raise the alarm and searchers scour the woods for hours trying to find the young boys. The next morning, a tracking dog makes a horrific discovery on the southern end of the lake. Both boys are dead and there is a killer on the loose in this idyllic community. Days later a second boy, Willie Walters, takes his fishing gear to Kearsley Creek, he too doesn't return. His battered body is discovered the next morning. These horrific crimes happened just a few miles north of the hunting grounds favored by the Oakland County Child Killer in 1976-1977. #Michigan, #Murder, #OCCK Support the show.
