A heated debate takes center stage as the crew dives into whether rival players like Jack Hughes deserve respect after international success, or if fandom should always come first. The conversation expands into what defines an American sports hero and whether that status shields athletes from boos, sparking strong opinions and sharp exchanges. The show also explores NFL draft philosophy with a breakdown of top quarterback prospects and comparisons to established veterans, while shifting to baseball where concerns about the Mets' sluggish offense loom large. With questions about roster decisions, player performance, and whether pitching can carry the team, the discussion blends big picture analysis with passionate fan reactions.

In August 2004, 21-year-old Katara Deboise Johnson finished her shift as an assistant manager at Taco Bell in Taylor, Texas, and drove home to her mobile home on North Dolan Street. By the following evening, her grandmother would discover her shot to death inside her bedroom. Her car was missing. Her cell phone was gone. Hours after her death, someone answered her phone and claimed to be Katara before laughter echoed in the background and the call disconnected. Her maroon Mitsubishi Lancer was later found abandoned at the Thorndale Community Pool in neighboring Milam County, miles from her home. No weapon was recovered. No signs of forced entry were reported. More than 50 people were interviewed. Polygraphs were administered. The Texas Rangers and Department of Public Safety assisted. Still, no arrests have been made.In the months that followed, frustration grew. Family members publicly questioned whether enough resources were being devoted to the case. The NAACP launched its own inquiry. Katara's sister Kenyatta revealed she had been questioned as a possible suspect, something she strongly denied. Police have never publicly named a suspect.Years passed. Her mother died in 2012 without answers. In 2019, the Williamson County Sheriff's Office took over the investigation. Authorities now believe more than one person may know what happened that night, particularly how Katara's car ended up in Thorndale. If you have any information about the murder of Katara Debois Johnson, please contact Texas Crime Stoppers at (800) 346-3243.You can support Gone Cold and listen to the show ad-free at https://patreon.com/gonecoldpodcast Find us at https://www.gonecold.comFor Gone Cold merch, visit https://gonecold.dashery.comFollow Gone Cold on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, and X. What do you do when your customer just… stops paying attention? This week's episode was inspired by a walk on our farm -- and a stubborn dog who found a vole in the field and completely tuned me out. Calling louder didn't work. Waiting didn't work. What finally worked was walking back out to her, getting in her line of sight, and offering her the right treat -- something she actually wanted. That moment sparked a powerful realization about customers who go quiet (and what actually brings them back). If you've ever looked at your email list or customer list and thought, "Where did everyone go?" -- this episode is for you. Customers going cold doesn't mean they're unhappy. It usually means they're distracted, out of rhythm, or don't have a clear reason to buy right now. In this episode, I introduce the concept of win-back campaigns (one of the simplest, highest-ROI marketing systems you can build for your farm). We'll talk about: Why customers go quiet (and why it's not personal) What a win-back campaign actually is (and what it's not) Why win-backs are much easier than most farmers think How a single win-back campaign can become a reusable asset you run year after year This episode is a pared-down training -- just enough to help you see what's possible and why it's worth doing, without overwhelming you with tech or tactics. If you want the step by step for how to actually build this asset fast, I have an entire project inside of Farm Marketing School on Setting Up Your Win-Back Campaign, including: How to identify cold customers How to build your win back offer How to set up tags and automations in your email provider How to write the emails (with templates + AI prompts) How to turn win-backs into a repeatable, yearly system

It may be easier for someone further along in life, with a more established financial situation, but that does not mean you have no chance of qualifying for your first mortgage right out of college. Mitchell County Iowa, July 12th 2021, 5:27 PM. A local girl was taking a walk down the Greenbelt River Trail when something strange and terrifying caught her attention. She looked once, rubbed her eyes thinking she must be seeing things, and then looked again. Upon further inspection it was clear that no she wasn't seeing things, there among the lush grass and stately trees was a human skull dangling off a wooden spike. Police rushed to the scene immediately and interviewed everyone who had been along the trail that evening. Among the briefly interviewed was Nathan Gilmore, a man who authorities would eventually find out followed his satanic delusions down a murky rabbit hole to murder and dismemberment. Texas is known for being tough on crime and those who commit it. Or at least the ones who get caught. There are tens of thousands of unsolved homicides in Texas and nearly as many open missing persons cases. Every week, Gone Cold Podcast—Texas true crime—presents in-depth accounts of unsolved murders and missing persons cases throughout the lone star state, concentrating on lesser-known cases that the media has long left behind. Cases like the recently solved 1974 abduction and murder of Fort Worth High School student Carla Walker, the brazen 2019 murder of Liz Barraza, and the mysterious 1989 disappearance of 13-year-old Elisa Roberson, who seemingly vanished into thin air while she was walking a few blocks from home to meet a friend. On Gone Cold, you'll also occasionally hear high-profile cases, such as an 8-episode series on the 1996 abduction and murder of 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, the little girl behind the Amber Alert. This is a preview of Gone Cold's coverage of the 2007 case of 19-year-old Brittany Danielle McGlone, who was viciously attacked and savagely slain in her boyfriend's bed while the rest of the home'sinhabitants were away.As you're listening, join Gone Cold's mission to bring these forgotten cases back into the public'sawareness by subscribing to Gone Cold Podcast—Texas true crime wherever you listen to podcasts.https://www.GoneCold.com

After the initial investigators working the murder of 18-year-old Cheryl Ann Callaway moved on, and the case had long gone cold, the voluminous file fell on the lap of Arlington, Texas Police Sgt. Dennis Rhoten. Rhoten hit the ground running, but eventually, like Sgt. Mike Adair and Detective Mike Leyman before him, began grasping at straws. In 1981, he looked at recently arrested serial killer Ted Bundy. Then, in 1983, Sgt. Rhoten, like the rest of Texas law enforcement, caught Henry Lee Lucas fever. None of those things panned out. Could Cheryl's killer have been right under their noses the entire time? Part 3 of 3.Special thanks to Steve Harris and former Arlington detectives Mike Leyman and Sgt. As Arlington Police Crimes Against Persons Detectives Mike Leyman and Sgt. Mike Adair continued to investigate the January 30th, 1974, murder of 18-year-old Cheryl Ann Callaway, answers seemed to get more and more elusive. Interviews with friends, family, and coworkers provided virtually no potential motive. An exhaustive search of VIN numbers of cars matching the suspect vehicle provided by witnesses led nowhere. Then, Sgt. Adair said, began the “grasping at straws” period of the investigation. Part 2 of 3.Special thanks to former Arlington detectives Mike Leyman and Sgt. One detective called the slaying of Cheryl Ann Callaway “the most vicious murder in Arlington's history.” Arlington Police Crimes Against Person Unit Detectives Sgt. Mike Adair and Mike Leyman call it the one that got away. On January 30th, 1974, just months before she was to be married, 18-year-old Cheryl's life was taken. The murder was brutal and unimaginable, and the killer, it seemed, came out of nowhere…and struck out of a motivation that remains unclear 50 years later. No one who knew Cheryl could imagine who would have a reason to kill the young women; she had no enemies. Arlington Police Detectives Sgt. Adair and Leyman, who still think about the only crime they couldn't solve together, hit the ground running. Evidence lacked at the scene of the crime, and Leyman and Adair knew at the get-go they were up against a tough case. Part 1 of 2.Special thanks to former Arlington detectives Mike Leyman and Sgt. In July of 1991 26-year-old Don Tate took his 5-year-old daughter Boston on a camping trip to Big Bend National Park in Brewster County, Texas. The day after they were supposed to have returned but had not, Boston's mother and Don's ex-wife asked Rangers at the park to issue a request to locate. Don and Boston never came out of Big Bend, not alive. Later that day, Don's brutalized body was found. A few days after that, Boston's burned remains were discovered in her father's van. Investigators scrounged to find evidence and a motive, while park visitors and villagers across the Rio Grande in Mexico spoke of the involvement of drug smugglers. Later that year, in December, a scandal in neighboring Presidio County involving the son of a prominent rancher and a drug warrior sheriff further fueled the talk of traffickers executing Boston and Don.If you have any information about the murders of Boston Michelle and Donald William Tate, please contact the National Park Service Tip Line at 888-653-0009 or submit a tip using their online form: nps.gov/orgs/1563/submit-a-tip.htmIf you're in the market for Girl Scout Cookies, you can help Alice reach her goal by using the following link. Up until this weekend, it seemed like the Falcons hiring Bill Belichick to fill their head coaching vacancy. There were still obligatory interviews that needed to take place to fulfill Rooney Rule commitments, but those just seemed like a formality at the time. Then the Falcons conducted their second interview with Belichick. Did the Friday interview not go as well as planned? The Falcons announced over the weekend that they were interviewing Jim Harbaugh for a second time, as well many other candidates including Raheem Morris, Joe Brady, and Aaron Glenn. While it seemed clear as little as a week ago that Belichick was going to be the Falcons top choice; it turns out that it may not be a shoe-in after all. Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael discuss the Falcons Head Coaching search...
On the last day of September 1991, off-duty Harris County Sheriff's Deputy Roxyann Allee took the evening to do some shopping. After buying and browsing, she headed back to her minivan to return home. Little did she know, two men had followed her. As she approached her vehicle, the men accosted and abducted her. Later, her minivan was discovered ablaze on a secluded North Houston street, and later still, a fellow deputy discovered her bullet-riddled body. Her husband, also a Harris County Deputy, and two children were shocked and to this day are haunted by the uncertainty and lack of answers in Roxyann's murder. To be eligible for the cash rewards of up to $30,000, anyone with information on the abduction and murder of Deputy Cpl. Roxyann Allee can provide an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 800-252-8477 or by submitting a tip online at p3tips.com/tipform.aspx?ID=650#If you're interested in being a true crime podcaster, take a look at the online programs at TrueCrimePodcastTraining.com and use code COLD for $150 off any course. You can support Gone Cold and listen ad-free at patreon.com/gonecoldpodcastVisit Gone Cold – Texas True Crime online at GoneCold.com Find us on Facebook, X, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram by searching gonecoldpodcast or go to: linknbio.com/gonecoldpodcast#JusticeForRoxyannAllee #FallenOfficer #LawEnforcement #Houston #HoustonTexas #HarrisCountyTX #HarrisCountySheriff #Murder #Texas #TX #TexasTrueCrime #GoneCold #GoneColdPodcast #ColdCase #Abduction #KIdnapping #UnsolvedMurder #Homicide #UnsolvedMysteries #TrueCrime #TrueCrimePodcast #Podcast
Coming out of the Christmas break for the National Hockey League, Joey begins today's episode of Locked On Stars discussing the unbelievable win the Dallas Stars had against the Nashville Predators on Saturday. The Stars made history by becoming the first team to score the tying goal and go ahead goal in the final 15 seconds of regulation. Craig Smith and Jani Hakanpaa were the two goal scores along with Evgenii Dadanov to erase a two goal deficit in the 3rd period. The two biggest takeaways for Joey over the last week is tightening up defensively and being able to win from behind. The Stars lead the NHL with 12 come from behind wins this season. We then segway into a conversation about the power play that is 0 for the last 14 opportunities. Dallas has been able to win without it by holding opponents off the scoresheet on the man advantage, but it could make life much easier if they get it rolling again. Joey offers some solutions and why he thinks the power play has slipped over the past week. The show wraps up by praising Scott Wedgewood who has put up a 9-1-2 record in 12 games this season and has been an anchor since Jake Oettinger went down with an injury. He allows the Stars to be in every game and has such a great compete level since switching his mindset to being a number one goalie instead of a backup. His presence has been superb this season and a big reason why the Stars are in first place in the Central Division and top 5 in the NHL.Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
