On February 3, 2003, cops were called to the home - OH EXCUSE ME, I MEANT TO SAY SUUUUUUPER TACKY CASTLE. YES CASTLE - of music producer and "legend" Phil Spector. Spector claimed that a woman had come into his home and then killed herself in his foyer. If that sounds insane, it's because it is and it is DEFINITELY not what happened. The woman's name was Lana Clarkson AND SHE WAS FREAKING AWESOME. Of course the trial was a circus. SPECTOR WORE WIGS FOR DAYS. Homicide historian David Kulczyk releases 1926—Murder in America—New and Expanded Edition for the 100th anniversary of the deadliest year in American history. While researching his seven true crime books, Kulczyk noticed that there was an extraordinary number of oddball murders during the year 1926. The 1920's was a time of massive cultural and technological changes. The death and destruction of World War l dope -slapped the collective mindset of the youth of America and 1926 was the year that Americans all over the country said screw it. And screw it they did.......Mixing too much bootleg booze, marijuana, cocaine, and heroin, with fast cars, sex, and jazz music can only lead to trouble. The number of allegedly normal people committing ghastly murders in 1926 is astounding. It is like a switch got turned on and some people went mad unlike any other time in American history. Originally released in 2019, Kulczyk discovered even more murders that occurred in 1926, hence this anniversary edition of the most insane year in American history. 1926—MURDER IN AMERICA—David Kulczyk
A travel advisor recommended separate rooms for the step-siblings. The family overruled it. The stepbrother had been in therapy for over a year. The night before Anna's body was found, witnesses allege he screamed at her while the youngest sibling was locked out of the cabin. Anna Kepner was found dead under a bed on the Carnival Horizon — wrapped in blankets, covered with life vests, twenty feet from her sleeping father. Homicide by mechanical asphyxiation. Her sixteen-year-old stepbrother is the sole suspect in sealed federal proceedings. He reportedly claims he doesn't remember anything. He'd allegedly stopped taking insomnia medication two nights before. Defense attorney Bob Motta breaks down the legal landscape — what sealed juvenile proceedings mean, why the FBI kept jurisdiction, and how memory loss and medication non-compliance might factor into a defense. He addresses the contradictions in public family statements and what little has emerged from a case the government is keeping locked. This episode also examines the psychology underneath — blended family dynamics that prioritize the appearance of harmony, confirmation bias that reframes warning signs as progress, and the silence children maintain to avoid disrupting the peace everyone's invested in. The red flags were there. They were filtered through a story the adults needed to believe.#AnnaKepner #CarnivalHorizon #CruiseShipDeath #BobMotta #BlendedFamily #FBIInvestigation #JuvenileJustice #FamilyDynamics #TrueCrime #HiddenKillersJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Eighteen-year-old Anna Kepner found dead under a bed on the Carnival Horizon. Homicide by mechanical asphyxiation. Her sixteen-year-old stepbrother — the sole suspect — appeared in sealed federal proceedings and was released to guardian custody. Nearly sixteen hours passed before anyone checked on her. Her father slept across the hall. This episode combines the legal and psychological breakdown of the Kepner case. Bob Motta explains what sealed juvenile federal proceedings look like, why the FBI kept jurisdiction, and what the suspect's claimed memory loss and alleged medication non-compliance could mean for a defense strategy. He addresses the family's contradictory public statements and what we can actually learn from a case this locked down. The psychological dimension is just as critical — a blended family where the stepmother called them "the Three Amigos," a travel advisor recommended separate cabins, therapy had been ongoing for over a year, and witnesses allege violence the night before Anna was found. The warning signs were there. The story the family was telling filtered them out. Anna planned to graduate and join the Navy. Instead she got a night nobody checked on her.#AnnaKepner #CarnivalHorizon #BobMotta #CruiseShipDeath #BlendedFamily #SealedProceedings #FBIInvestigation #JuvenileJustice #TrueCrime #HiddenKillersJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? In this episode of Crime Bit with Danelle Hallan, we continue the Carina Saunders investigation as the search ends in a grim discovery. On October 13, 2011, her remains were found behind a Homeland store in Bethany, shifting the case from missing person to homicide. Detectives revisited statements, traced connections around Kenny Richards, and weighed what could be proven against what witnesses later changed.Part 2 matters because it shows how a case can stall without physical evidence, even after arrests. We track the 2012 charges against Jimmy Massie and Lewis Ruiz, the 2013 dismissals, and how OSBI took over and kept pursuing leads.
Maine had 21 homicides in 2025, and we take a look at them. Guns and domestic violence continue to be the dominant themes, with mental health issues also a troubling contributing factor. From people who know each other all too well, to the bizarre seemingly random shooting of a guy on his motorcycle, there are 21 stories of lives lost that may resonate with you, no matter where you live. We also take a quick look at Maine’s biennial domestic violence homicide report, and what it says about how the public, police and the media perceive domestic homicide, and how that adds to the problem.
It's Friday, February 20th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus 100 U.S. troops on the ground in Northeast Nigeria U.S. officials confirmed that roughly 100 U.S. troops arrived in Nigeria on Monday, tasked with a mission to train and equip Nigerian anti-terror forces in their ongoing struggle against the country's rising Islamic terrorist threat, reports International Christian Concern. About 200 troops are expected to be deployed in the coming weeks. Nigeria has witnessed an uptick in religious-based violence in the central and north by the Islamic Boko Haram terrorist group against Christians. The U.S. soldiers were sent to Bauchi State located in northeastern Nigeria at the invitation of the Nigerian government. British police arrested Prince Andrew Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the man formerly known as Prince Andrew before his royal title was stripped from him, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office at around 8:00am on his 66th birthday yesterday, reports The U.S. Sun. Andrew allegedly shared sensitive information with his pedophile pal Jeffrey Epstein while serving as the United Kingdom's trade envoy. He spent time in Vietnam, Singapore, China, and Hong Kong in October 2010 on taxpayer-funded official business and high-level trade talks. An email to Epstein on November 30, 2010, sent by Andrew's “Special Adviser” Amit Patel, contained four documents reporting on what had been discussed on his trip. The email and its four attachments were sent to Andrew at 4.57pm, and forwarded to multi- millionaire Jeffrey Epstein five minutes later, at 5.02pm. Cops also confirmed at the time that they were separately probing allegations that a woman was trafficked to the UK by Epstein to have a sexual encounter with Prince Andrew. Yesterday, police raided royal residences in Windsor and Norfolk. Andrew's brother, King Charles III, age 77, said, “I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair, and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities. They have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation.” Andrew's arrest comes almost a year after Virginia Giuffre, a woman who accused him of sexually assaulting her while she was a minor, committed suicide last April. Virginia's emotional brothers Sky and Daniel said: “At last, today, our broken hearts have been lifted at the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty. On behalf of our sister, Virginia Giuffre, we extend our gratitude to the UK's Thames Valley Police for their investigation, and the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. For survivors everywhere, Virginia did this for you.” Galatians 6:7 says, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” Black D.C. grandma about Trump: “I love him!” Back in 2017, Forlesia Cook's grandson was murdered in cold blood in Washington D.C. Yesterday, at the Black History Month Reception at the White House, she spoke glowingly about President Donald Trump's concern about her family and his willingness to send in the National Guard to D.C. to put the criminals behind bars, reports FoxNews.com. Listen. COOK: “One thing I like about him, he keeps it real, just like Grandma. I appreciate that because I can trust Him, because he tells exactly how he feel and what he think. Thank God for this President. (applause) “I am filled. My cup runneth over because he allowed his people to come to my house to interview me, to talk about the murder of my grandson. It seemed like nobody cared. I marched. I rallied. I pulled out other families in the District of Columbia that had murders and did not have answers. Ooh! We marched and we rallied. And nobody heard me, Democrats, until this Republican sent his people out there to interview me in my home. Have you ever heard of a thing? “Then they invited me twice before Congress to testify for the Beautiful Bill that's going to change crime in the District. (applause) If you kill somebody, okay, you take a life, you do life. Just that simple. (applause) If you do a harsh crime, you do harsh time. Just that simple. “And then we need National Guard, and which we did years ago, he brought it on. “I love him. I don't want to hear nothing you got to say about that racist stuff. And don't be looking at me on the news hatin' on me because I'm standing up for somebody that deserves to be standin' up for. Get off the man's back. Let him do his job. He's doing the right thing. Back up off of me. And Grandma said it.” (applause) Cook cited Psalm 23:5 in her remarks. The full verse says, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.” President Trump was clearly touched by Forlesia Cook's passion and gratitude. TRUMP: “Thank you, darling. That's great, and it's from the heart. Your little baby was just so horribly taken from you. “Under the Trump administration, we believe that no community should be abandoned to the scourge of violent crime. We're saving 1000s and 1000s of lives in many cities. And frankly, if these radical left lunatic Democrats would come and say, ‘Please help us. Please,' we'd stop crimes all over the place. “Every town that we go in, every city that we go in, like Washington, Felicia, you feel much safer now, totally safe. You can walk to a restaurant. The restaurants were all closing. Now, the bad news is you can't get into a restaurant. It's a great thing to see what's happening in Washington.” American abolitionist and former slave Frederick Douglass remembered And finally, 131 years ago today, on February 20, 1895, American abolitionist Frederick Douglass met his maker. He was the most important leader of the American movement for black civil rights in the 19th century. After escaping from slavery in Maryland in 1838, Douglass became a national leader of the abolitionist movement in Massachusetts and New York. He gained fame for his oratory and incisive antislavery writings. Accordingly, he was described by abolitionists, in his time, as a living counterexample to claims by supporters of slavery that enslaved people lacked the intellectual capacity to function as independent American citizens. Indeed, Northerners, at the time, found it hard to believe that such a great orator had once been enslaved. It was in response to this disbelief that Douglass wrote Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas: An American Slave in 1845. It was influential in promoting the cause of abolition, as was his second book, written in 1855, entitled My Bondage and My Freedom. Following the Civil War, Douglass was an active campaigner for the rights of freed slaves and wrote his last autobiography entitled Life and Times of Frederick Douglass. Three months after Anna Kepner was found dead aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship — her body hidden under a bed, death ruled a homicide by mechanical asphyxiation — her sixteen-year-old stepbrother appeared in federal court in Miami facing multiple charges. According to the Daily Mail, the teenager was accompanied by his biological father Thomas Hudson for a closed-door hearing on at least two federal counts. The most striking revelation came from Anna's own father Christopher Kepner, who told the Daily Mail he was "unable to confirm or deny" that charges include both murder and rape — directly contradicting November preliminary findings that indicated no sexual assault. The FBI maintained complete silence for ninety days after the cruise ship death. Virtually everything the public knows came from a custody dispute between the suspect's parents — court filings that revealed text messages focused on damage control, the suspect's repeated claims that he couldn't remember anything, and behavioral history including obsession allegations and testimony about chokeholds in the household. Surveillance and key card data reportedly place the stepbrother as the only person entering and exiting the cabin. Anna's grandmother announced the surrender on Facebook and accused the suspect's father of interfering with the investigation. The hearing was sealed, but prosecutors reportedly plan to seek transfer to adult court — which would unseal the records and reveal the full scope of the federal case.#AnnaKepner #CarnivalHorizon #CruiseShipHomicide #FederalCharges #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeToday #CarnivalCruise #JusticeForAnna #FBIInvestigation #TrueCrimePodcastJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Why would someone enter a not guilty plea when the evidence includes surveillance footage, ballistics matches, and witnesses describing years of alleged death threats? In the case of Michael McKee, charged with the aggravated murders of Spencer and Monique Tepe, the answer may lie in what forensic experts call the "game player."McKee pleaded not guilty, waived extradition immediately, and waived his bail hearing while reserving future rights. Most people see surrender. Defense attorneys see strategy.Defense attorney Bob Motta breaks down what a defense lawyer actually sees when examining this case. The surveillance footage everyone treats as a smoking gun—how reliable is it? The hearsay testimony from friends claiming Monique said McKee threatened to kill her—she's not alive to testify. Can prosecutors even use that? The phone going silent during the murders sounds damning. But Bob explains what juries don't hear about digital evidence. Then there's the psychological profile. The "game player" views prosecution as competition rather than consequence—the pattern seen in Scott Peterson, Chris Watts, Ted Bundy. Men facing overwhelming evidence who refused to fold. The same detachment that allows someone to treat a murder trial as an intellectual exercise may be the detachment that enables the crime itself. For the game player, other people aren't fully real. They're pieces on a board. The trial isn't punishment—it's the championship round.According to court documents, investigators have surveillance footage linking McKee's vehicle to the scene, a firearm matched through national ballistics, and witness statements describing alleged abuse including that he could "kill her at any time" and she would "always be his wife."This is aggravated murder—prosecutors must prove premeditation. Eight years passed between the divorce and the killings. Bob explains why that timeline cuts both ways.#MichaelMcKee #MoniqueTepe #SpencerTepe #GamePlayerPsychology #NotGuiltyPlea #AggravatedMurder #BobMotta #ForensicPsychology #TrueCrime #HiddenKillersLiveJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The Murder of Police, Our Careers in Baltimore, Maryland. Special Episode. Being a cop in Baltimore, Maryland has never been just a job. For generations of officers, it has been a test of resolve carried out in one of America's most violent cities, where the murder of police officers was not an abstract fear, but a lived reality. The streets remembered everything, even when time moved on. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast social media like their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. For John Jay Wiley, the host of the La Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast, also a retired Baltimore police officer, that reality resurfaced decades later through a candid conversation with retired Baltimore Police Detective Gary McLhinney. Shared across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, Apple, and other Social Media and Media platforms as part of a Podcast, the discussion centered on a crime that forever shaped their careers: the murder of Baltimore Police Officer Vincent J. Adolfo. This Special Episode of the Podcast is available and shared for free on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube and most major podcast platforms. “This was something I carried with me from 1985,” John Jay Wiley, the retired Baltimore Police Sergeant said. “It stayed buried, but it was never gone.” The Murder of Police, Our Careers in Baltimore, Maryland. Special Episode. Supporting articles about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . The Murder of Police Officer Vincent J. Adolfo On November 18, 1985, Officer Vincent J. Adolfo of the Baltimore Police Department was performing routine police work in a city already known for violence. That night, officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle. The suspect vehicle rammed another patrol car, and all occupants fled on foot. Officer Adolfo pursued one suspect into Iron Alley. “He thought the suspect was surrendering,” the retired officer explained. “That's what makes this so hard to accept.” As Officer Adolfo approached, the suspect suddenly produced a .357 caliber handgun and opened fire. Officer Adolfo was struck in both the chest and the back. At the time, his department-issued ballistic vest contained only a front panel, capable of stopping rounds up to .38 caliber. Available for free on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and most major Podcast networks. “The equipment wasn't what it is today,” Gary McLhinney said. “He never had a chance.” Officer Adolfo died from his wounds, becoming another name etched into Baltimore's long and painful history of officers killed in the line of duty. The Murder of Police, Our Careers in Baltimore, Maryland. Special Episode. The suspect fled the state and was later apprehended in Oklahoma. He was extradited back to Maryland, convicted, and ultimately executed in 1997 for the murder. A Crime That Followed Careers for Decades The murder of Officer Adolfo connected two men who would later reflect on their careers from retirement, men who had never worked together, yet shared the same burden. Retired Baltimore Police Detective Gary McLhinney played a critical role in helping his former colleague, radio and odcast host confront unresolved guilt and regret. Look for The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on social media like their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. “Gary helped me finally put things to rest,” John Jay Wiley said. “He understood because he lived it too.” Both men served during an era when killing police officers in Baltimore was not rare. It was a time when violent crime surged, fueled first by heroin in the 1970s and later by crack cocaine in the 1980s and early 1990s. “You didn't count years by calendars,” Gary McLhinney said. “You counted them by funerals.” Policing One of America's Most Violent Cities Baltimore City, an independent city under the Maryland Constitution since 1851, has long struggled with crime rates well above the national average. With a population of more than 585,000 at the 2020 census and part of a metropolitan area exceeding 2.8 million residents, Baltimore's challenges have been both urban and systemic. The Murder of Police, Our Careers in Baltimore, Maryland. Special Episode. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and other podcast platforms. In 1993, the city recorded a peak of 353 homicides, during a period when the population was nearly 130,000 higher than it is today. In 2019, Baltimore recorded 348 killings, nearly matching that grim record. Though the city saw a sharp decline to 201 homicides in 2024, the scars of decades of violence remain. “These numbers don't tell the whole story,” Gary McLhinney said. “They don't show the officers who went home different, or didn't go home at all.” The decline in homicide rates in 2011, when killings dipped below 200 for the first time since 1978, was credited to focused enforcement on repeat violent offenders and increased community engagement. But the gains proved fragile. Homicides climbed again in 2012 and 2013, defying national trends and reinforcing the unpredictable nature of violent crime in Baltimore. Gary McLhinney's Career and Leadership Gary McLhinney came from a family of firefighters but chose a different calling. “He wanted to be a Baltimore City police officer,” his colleague said. “That's where his heart was.” McLhinney loved the job and the people he served alongside. After retiring from the Baltimore Police Department, he was appointed Chief of the Maryland Transportation Authority Police. In that role, he oversaw security for the Port of Baltimore, BWI Marshall Airport, and the state's bridges, tunnels, and toll roads, particularly during the tense years following the September 11 terrorist attacks. The Murder of Police, Our Careers in Baltimore, Maryland. Special Episode. It is discussed across News platforms and shared on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Apple, and Spotify, where true crime audiences continue to get their content. “Those were years where the weight of responsibility never let up,” McLhinney said. “But Baltimore prepared us for that.” Preserving the Stories in a Book McLhinney later turned his attention to preserving the stories of officers lost in the line of duty. Along with renowned journalist and author Kevin Cowherd, he co-wrote Bleeding Blue: Four Decades Policing the Violent City of Baltimore. “The book isn't about glory,” McLhinney said. “It's about remembering the men and women who paid the ultimate price.” The Book documents decades of violence, sacrifice, and resilience within the Baltimore Police Department. Portions of the proceeds benefit the Signal 13 Foundation, a nonprofit established in 1983 to support Baltimore police officers and their families through financial hardship grants and scholarships. The Murder of Police, Our Careers in Baltimore, Maryland. Special Episode. You can find the show on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, X (formerly Twitter), and LinkedIn, as well as read companion articles and updates on Medium, Blogspot, YouTube, and even IMDB. Additional proceeds support Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), a national 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1984 that now serves more than 87,000 survivors nationwide. Supporting Survivors After the Headlines Fade C.O.P.S. provides peer support, counseling, scholarships, survivor weekends, youth camps, trial and parole support, and training for law enforcement agencies on how to respond after the loss of an officer. “The agency response matters,” the retired officer said. “It shapes how families survive the aftermath.” C.O.P.S. chapters operate in all 50 states, with national survivor programs administered from Camdenton, Missouri. Funding comes from donations, grants, and continued public awareness—often driven by News, Podcast, and Social Media exposure. Available for free on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and most major Podcast networks. Why These Stories Still Matter Today, these conversations live on across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Spotify, Apple, and other Media platforms, not as nostalgia, but as testimony. “The murder of police officers doesn't end with the trial,” the retired officer said. “It follows careers, families, and cities for generations.” The Murder of Police, Our Careers in Baltimore, Maryland. Special Episode. By revisiting the murder of Officer Vincent J. Adolfo, the realities of policing Baltimore, and the bonds formed through shared trauma, this story serves as both remembrance and warning. It honors the fallen, supports the living, and reminds the public that behind every statistic is a name, a badge, and a life that mattered. An active investigation into the death of 14-year-old Celeste Hernandez has left the public with a timeline, a Tesla, and an extensive list of unanswered question. In this episode of Zone 7, Sheryl McCollum is joined by journalist Lauren Conlin to review what has been said publicly about Celeste’s initial classification as a runaway, her connections to older individuals, and why the continued absence of a named person of interest raises concern. They turn to the arrest of actor/director Timothy Busfield and discuss what can and cannot be concluded from selective “evidence” releases, how credibility gets weaponized in public, and why child abuse allegations demand careful, methodical evaluation rather than internet verdicts. Highlights: • (0:00) Sheryl McCollum opens the episode on the death of Celeste Hernandez and why the case is “driving her crazy” • (1:30) Lauren Conlin’s case status framing: no official person of interest, grand jury activity, and what “imminent indictment” does and does not mean • (3:00) Celeste’s runaway classification, age, and how early labels can shape urgency, resources, and risk • (7:15) Behavior after the discovery: canceled tour, transferred home ownership, legal strategy, and public silence • (10:00) Publicity economics: spikes in streams/downloads and the reality of scandal- driven attention • (15:15) Homicide indicator vs. Evidentiary barriers when decomposition complicates cause-of-death determinations • (17:45) Tesla cameras, event data, and why Sheryl expects a digital trail around movement and access • (21:45) Why runaway youth are at elevated risk and how dependency becomes leverage for exploitation • (27:00) Timothy Busfield: prior allegations and the optics of how he presented himself • (29:15) The alleged history patterns, witness context, and credibility disputes around the parents • (33:00) “Tickling to me does not absolve you from being a pervert.” • (36:00) Predatory access: why being near adults does not guarantee safety and how abuse can occur quickly and covertly • (39:15) Sheryl and Lauren address recantation, selective interview clips, and why child abuse cases require restraint, context, and patience before judgment Guest Bio: Lauren Conlin is a New York-based journalist covering true crime and high-profile investigations.
