In October 1961, 19-year-old Betty Gail Brown — a promising sophomore at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky — was found brutally murdered in her car on campus. Strangled to death with her own brassiere, her killer has never been brought to justice. This remains one of Kentucky's most haunting unsolved murders. On this episode of Hitched 2 Homicide, we dive deep into the shocking true story of the Betty Gail Brown case: a young woman full of potential whose life was cut short in a place meant for learning and safety. We examine the chilling details of that fateful night, the botched investigation, the dramatic 1965 confession by drifter Alex Arnold Jr. that led to a high-profile trial and mistrial, and the lingering theories that still divide the community more than six decades later. Was Betty Gail Brown the victim of a random campus predator, a personal grudge, or something even darker? Despite multiple leads and intense media attention at the time, her murder stays cold — a heartbreaking reminder of how one night can shatter lives forever. If you're fascinated by unsolved true crime cases, Kentucky murders, campus killings, and deadly mysteries from the 1960s, this episode is for you. We honor Betty's memory while exploring every angle of this infamous Lexington cold case. ️ Key Topics: • Betty Gail Brown's final hours and the gruesome discovery • Flaws in the original police investigation • The Alex Arnold confession and mistrial • Modern theories and why the case remains unsolved Listener discretion is advised — this episode discusses murder and sensitive details. In 1985, my guest's husband left for work and never came home. Ten days later, she identified his body parts in a Detroit morgue. She also discovered he'd been living a secret double life. Dr. Jan Canty is a psychologist who spent 30 years in silence—until a podcast for homicide survivors brought her back. The night he went missing, Jan looked in a mirror and heard herself say, "He's dead. He's not coming home." She buried that moment for decades. Today, she helps others heal through after-death communication and community. This episode aired on July 20th—the exact day Jan learned her husband had been murdered. After ending her engagement, Samantha Mickleburgh thought she was doing one final act of kindness. She agreed to spend a birthday weekend with her ex-fiancé, James Cartwright, before moving on with her life. The next morning, Samantha was dead. What initially appeared to be a tragic and unexplained death inside a luxury hotel room quickly became a murder investigation. As detectives dug into the couple's relationship, they uncovered allegations of obsession, control, jealousy, and a man who refused to accept that the relationship was over. This episode breaks down the death of Samantha Mickleburgh, the evidence that contradicted James Cartwright's story, and the trial that exposed what prosecutors called a web of lies.AFTER SHOW AVAILABLE ON PATREONWhen emergency responders arrived at a Georgia home for a report of an unresponsive toddler, they expected to investigate a medical emergency.Instead, investigators say they discovered six children living in conditions so disturbing that every room inside the house became part of the investigation. The oldest child, only 10 years old, was allegedly left to care for five younger siblings for hours without food while their mother was away. This episode examines the heartbreaking death of one-year-old, the allegations against his mother, and the disturbing history investigators say existed long before police arrived that morning.Join the Patreon at the $3/month tier or above to listen to the break down of this case and my commentary on it.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/relationshipcrime************************************************************************************************Podcast Promo: Darkcast Network*************************************************************************************************Do you have thoughts about this case, or is there a specific true crime case you'd like to hear about? On December 28, 1987, 20 year old Melissa Ellison was beaten to death in her Jacksonville mobile home while her 13 month old daughter sat crying on the living room couch. For nearly four decades the case sat cold, until this month, when 70 year old Gary Edward Glowacz picked up the phone and called the sheriff's office himself. This episode examines the psychology behind why unidentified offenders sometimes surface on their own after decades of silence, and what that impulse reveals about guilt, aging, and the collapse of long term concealment.
In 1997, Yarmila Falater was found floating in her backyard pool after a brutal attack that left investigators searching for answers. The evidence quickly pointed to her husband, Scott Falater, a seemingly devoted husband, father, and churchgoing family man with no history of violence. But Scott's defense would turn the entire case upside down.He admitted he was responsible for Yarmila's death. He just claimed he was asleep when it happened. This episode breaks down one of the most controversial murder trials in America and the question jurors had to answer: can someone commit a calculated murder while sleepwalking?AFTER SHOW AVAILABLE ON PATREONWhen a house fire broke out in rural Maine, first responders expected to find a tragic accident.Instead, they uncovered something far more disturbing.Inside the home were two victims, and investigators quickly focused on the one person who should have been grieving alongside everyone else. What followed was a years-long legal battle centered on mental illness, criminal responsibility, and one question that divided a courtroom: was this a young man suffering from severe schizophrenia, or someone who knew exactly what he was doing? This episode breaks down the murders of Cheryl Cote and Daniel Perkins, the insanity defense, and the statement that prosecutors believed revealed the truth.Join the Patreon at the $3/month tier or above to listen to the break down of this case and my commentary on it.Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/relationshipcrime************************************************************************************************Podcast Promo: Darkcast Network*************************************************************************************************Do you have thoughts about this case, or is there a specific true crime case you'd like to hear about? In June 2025, Melissa Casias — a devoted mother, daughter, and sister — vanished from Taos, New Mexico, leaving everything she owned behind. Eleven months later, in May 2026, her remains were found in Carson National Forest. In this episode of Weird True Crime, hosts Amber and Gina reveal the new evidence that reframes everything: neighbors who reported Mark Casias asking about their security cameras in the days before Melissa disappeared, a woman's scream heard from the home at 1:45 p.m. on June 26th, the phone reset that happened within that same window, and presumptive-positive blood inside the house. You'll hear a recorded phone call in which Mark repeatedly insists he couldn't have hurt Melissa because he was at work — an alibi now called into question by a coworker who has formally told New Mexico State Police that Mark was not at work that day. Most disturbing of all is a witness account of a phone call allegedly placed by Mark on the day Melissa disappeared, and the questions surrounding a man named Ray Cortez. The episode also examines the documented failures in the NMSP investigation — turned-away federal help, ignored tip-line callers, and a family forced to do the investigative work themselves — and introduces the Mondragon family's new attorney, David Adams of Parnall & Adams. Every detail in this episode comes directly from official New Mexico State Police reports, documented evidence, recorded conversations, and statements from Melissa's family, their private investigator, and their attorney. A recent early graduate of Cooper High School, Mike had already enrolled at Texas Tech University to study architecture, worked full-time to save for college, and had purchased his own car through hard work and determination. On the night of June 8, after closing the grocery store where he worked, Mike drove to his family's home in Abilene. His stepsister watched from a window as he stepped out of his car and casually spoke with someone waiting in another vehicle parked along the street. The interaction appeared completely normal.Mike was never seen again. When his family awoke the next morning, his car remained in the driveway, his wallet and cash were still inside the house, and his bed had never been slept in. Detectives quickly concluded that Mike had likely believed he was leaving for only a short time with someone he knew and trusted.Over the years, police have explored numerous theories surrounding Mike's disappearance. Despite decades of investigation, none of those leads have ever provided definitive answers.Nearly forty years later, Mike Adams remains missing. His father spent the rest of his life searching for answers before passing away in 2024, never learning what happened to his youngest son.If you have information about the disappearance of Michael Jefferson Adams, please contact the Abilene Police Department at (325) 673-8331.You can support gone cold and listen to the show ad-free at https://patreon.com/gonecoldpodcastFind us at https://www.gonecold.comFor Gone Cold merch, visit https://gonecold.dashery.comFollow gone cold on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, and X. When Steven Beard woke up in the middle of the night, he thought his stomach had somehow burst open.Instead, investigators discovered he had been shot while sleeping in his own bed. What followed was an investigation involving a wealthy businessman, a much younger wife, Celese Beard, a secret relationship, allegations of manipulation, and claims of a murder-for-hire plot motivated by millions of dollars. This episode breaks down the full timeline, from the shooting itself to the testimony that ultimately convinced a jury that Steven's murder was far bigger than a single trigger pull.Listen now on Love and Murder************************************************************************************************Podcast Promo: Darkcast Network*************************************************************************************************Do you have thoughts about this case, or is there a specific true crime case you'd like to hear about? We are at an anniversary no one wants. Its been 15 years since someone entered the home of Bill and Peggy Stephenson after midnight and murdered them brutally. The killer or killers stayed for hours staging the scene to look like something but no one knows what their message to investigators was supposed to mean. NO ONE deserves to die like this. Two beautiful, kind, generous 74 year olds taken from their family, their community and the world and no one has been caught...yet. I KNOW there are Tip-Sters out there that know something, that heard something that feel something that is important. Between 2010 and 2017, eight men vanished from Toronto's gay village. The man responsible was hiding in plain sight, a landscape gardener who moonlighted as a shopping centre Santa Claus. In part two of his chat with Gary, former Toronto Homicide Inspector Hank Idsinga reveals the full story behind the Bruce McArthur serial killer investigation. From a tip about cannibalism on the dark web, to dismembered victims discovered inside backyard garden planters, this is one of the most disturbing cases in Canadian criminal history. Hank also reveals how his team arrived just in time to save the life of what would have been victim number nine. In this episode of I Catch Killers, Hank also opens up about commanding the homicide response to the 2018 Toronto van attack, a mass murder scene stretching two and a half kilometres, and what it truly takes to make the right calls when lives are on the line. Summer In The City Month continues with this devastating, emotional and ultimately inspiring tale of an urban community rising up against the hate in its midst. If someone doesn't make this story into a movie, Christopher and Eric just might. Jackson Heights, Queens. 1990. The AIDS epidemic is at its peak and gay men are being targeted for violent attacks throughout the country. But we're supposed to believe out and proud Julio Rivera was savagely beaten to death with multiple blunt objects by multiple assailants as the result of a drug deal gone bad? (Gurl, please.) The tenth episode of the second season of NEW YORK HOMICIDE entitled “Shine A Light On Hate” offers an inspiring history lesson about activism, justice and community building. Sometimes there's more than safety in numbers, there's change.

Hank revisits the cases that defined his career, including serial gang murderer Mark Moore, the heartbreaking case of a seven-year-old Katelynn Sampson whose story sparked a national conversation about child protection failures, and Bruce Macarthur, one of Canada's most notorious serial killers. Woman tied to cult-like group behind a border patrol agent's shooting is now charged in her parents' execution-style murders. Parents sentenced for death of toddler due to untreated lice infestation. In this episode of Pushing Up Lilies, I'm examining the disturbing case of Shawn Michael Grate, a serial killer whose crimes spanned a decade across northern Ohio and left multiple families forever changed. What makes this case especially unsettling is not only the length of time the murders continued, but how many opportunities there may have been to stop the violence sooner. As investigators pieced together the evidence, a clearer picture emerged of a predator who targeted vulnerable women, leaving behind unanswered questions and unimaginable heartbreak. As a forensic death investigator, I walk through the timeline of the investigation, the evidence that ultimately connected the cases, and the forensic and investigative techniques that helped bring long-awaited answers to the victims' families. We'll also discuss how missing persons investigations, crime scene evidence, and victim identification play critical roles in solving complex serial homicide cases. But as with every case I cover, I want to keep the focus where it belongs. On the victims. Each woman had a life, a story, and people who loved her. Behind every headline was someone whose future was stolen far too soon. Their lives deserve to be remembered with dignity, not simply as part of a criminal's history. This episode explores the realities of serial homicide investigations while honoring the individuals whose stories might otherwise be overshadowed by the person responsible. Jennifer Hudson shocked her hometown of Chicago when she was eliminated from American Idol in 2004, only to surpass everyone’s expectations when she later raked in awards and rave reviews for her role in Dreamgirls. Yet grief washed over Chicago again when her mother and brother were found slain in their Englewood home, and the smallest member of the Hudson family was declared missing. Their tragic story begins with betrayal and ends with a heartbreak so severe, only Jennifer’s long-standing faith could put it back together. A New York mother is suing a hospital for the homicide of her disabled 28-year-old daughter, who was admitted with a mild cough and died 41 days later after being intubated, sedated, and given Remdesivir, Propofol, Precedex, and Fentanyl — despite never having a COVID-19 diagnosis. Rebecca Charles says her daughter Danielle arrived at Northwell Hospital in Glen Cove with normal vitals, normal oxygen, and no pneumonia, sepsis, or respiratory distress. Records the family later obtained showed she could have been monitored or sent home. Instead, she was admitted on August 27, 2021 and died on October 6, after the hospital billed roughly $650,000. Rebecca and Free Now Foundation's Alix Mayer lay out the documents, the drug protocol, and the litigation now moving forward with a team of attorneys. Plus: Eric Bolling on the 14-point US-Iran framework, the Strait of Hormuz, election security, and the midterms; and the hosts of the Wise Nuts podcast on the Iran deal, Lebanon, voter ID, and California's election fallout. Rebecca Charles is suing a New York hospital for homicide in the death of her disabled 28-year-old daughter, Danielle, who died over 41 days, killed allegedly by narcotics and other medications “during COVID” although she did not have a diagnosis of COVID-19 at the time. On June 9th, the Pima County Sheriff's Department officially reclassified the Nancy Guthrie case from a missing persons investigation to a homicide. The FBI did not push back. And yet, in comment sections across the internet, one of the most popular theories about Nancy's disappearance is that she's alive and in FBI protective custody — that the whole thing was staged as part of an intelligence extraction. That theory is one of four that Tony Brueski takes apart in this episode, using nothing but documented, sourced, on-the-record facts. The protective custody theory collapses under its own weight: it requires the FBI to have staged Nancy's blood on her porch, disconnected her pacemaker, released suspect footage, doubled its reward, processed over thirteen thousand tips through a twenty-four-hour command post, and then allowed local law enforcement to publicly reclassify the case as a homicide. A healthcare fraud conspiracy was built on a viral video that fabricated Nancy's identity entirely — calling her a pharmaceutical compliance officer from Columbus, Ohio, when she's a retired grandmother from Tucson. The family involvement theory relies on internet “gait analysis” from compressed nighttime doorbell footage — not the FBI's Operational Technology Division, which actually performed the forensic review. And the staged disappearance theory? It asks you to believe an 84-year-old woman with a pacemaker and limited mobility secretly hired a masked, armed stranger and abandoned all her medication. The evidence in this case points to something far simpler than any conspiracy — and far more urgent. The person who did this is still out there. The investigation is active. The reward stands at over one million dollars.Links:Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? TRIGGER WARNING: Please note that this episode contains discussions of pedophilia, grooming, and graphic violence involving a 14-year-old girl. Additionally, please note that this investigation remains active and ongoing. Ergo (noice): all statements regarding alleged conduct discussed in this episode are allegations only, and all individuals mentioned are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. The name d4vd used to mean viral music and sold-out concerts. Now, it's at the center of one of the most disturbing criminal cases in recent memory. David Anthony Burke, known to the world as d4vd, presently stands charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances, continuous sexual abuse of a child, and unlawful mutilation of human remains in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Prosecutors allege he groomed Celeste for years — beginning when she was just 11 years old — and ultimately killed her after she threatened to expose their so-called "relationship" (which is to say: the abuse). He then allegedly dismembered her body with a chainsaw and left her remains to decompose inside his Tesla for months, lying to anyone who noticed the smell. All the while, he allegedly continued performing to sold-out crowds and selling tickets to national and world tours. The details of this case are as astonishing as they are heartbreaking - please listen with caution. FOLLOW/SUBSCRIBE to Psychopedia wherever you are listening! On Friday, June 13th, 2008, just before 10 AM, an unknown assailant entered the Sundrop Bottling Company building in Concord, North Carolina. Inside were three employees including office manager Donna Barnhardt as well as Darrell Noles, a local man applying for a part-time job. During what police have called a robbery gone wrong, both Donna and Darrell were shot and killed. The shooter then walked out of the building, jogged across the road and disappeared into the treeline of a wooded area. He is alleged to have been carrying a box with him as he left the scene.Despite exhaustive search efforts launched by local and state police within twenty minutes of the crime, the killer escaped the dragnet. For nearly two decades investigators have searched for the killer, although they believed they always knew who it was. Following a full and thorough re-examination of all available evidence and leads, detectives from Concord in conjunction with Port Angeles police arrested forty-three year old Johnny Talbert in Washington. He has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of robbery with a firearm. He is currently awaiting extradition.Listen to Episode 114 - The Sundrop MurdersFollowTEPod.comFollow Trace Evidence on Social MediaTwitter --- Instagram --- TikTok --- YouTube --- Like Facebook Page --- Join Facebook Group --- Threads --- Like MeWe Page --- Join MeWe Group --- BlueskySuppport Trace EvidencePatreon --- Paypal --- Cash App --- Buy Me A CoffeeTrace Evidence Merch ShopsTeePublic --- ShopTEPod --- SpreadshopAll Other LinksOfficial Trace Evidence Website --- LinkTreeMusic Courtesy of:"Lost Time" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/"Echoes of Time" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/"Galactic Rap" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/#truecrimepodcast #unsolvedmysteries #coldcase #coldcaseinvestigation #murder #murdermystery #missingperson #missingpersons #truecrimecommunity #mysterypodcast #truecrime #coldcasefiles #truecrimestories #crimelovers #truecrimeaddict #truecrimejunkie #crimescene #justiceforall #missing #crimesquad #podcastcommunity #sleuthsunite #darkhistories #criminalmindset #detective #detectivediaries #forensics #forensicfiles #crimestories #crimepodcast #traceevidence #traceevidencepodcast #criminalinvestigation #justiceforvictims #detectivework #truecrimediscussion #podcastfamily #listenandsolve #crimefans #listentotraceevidence #uncoverthetruth #podcastrecommendations #podcastlove #podcastlife #truecrimeobsessed #followtheclues #cluefinders #podcastaddict #unsolvedmurders #unsolveddisappearances #detectiveatheart #jointheinvestigation #disappearance #vanishing #abduction #gonemissing #upandvanished #pacheco #stevenpacheco #podcasting #crimetalk #crimeanalysis #theories #donnabarnhardt #darrellnoles #sundrop #concordnc #concord #northcarolina #shooting #update #solved #arrested #johnnytalbert #talbertBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/trace-evidence--3207798/support.
