Rex Heuermann, the architect that has been accused of murdering three women and is the prime suspect in a fourth murder was very careful about his DNA transfering to his victims, according to Matt Murphy, a former prosecutor who has tried many murder cases in his career. According to Murphy, he would not be surprised to find out as the investigation continues, that Rex Heuermann went to great lengths to try and avoid his DNA being found on the victims after their bodies were discovered. In this episode we hear how Matt Murphy thinks he accomplished this and how the investigators plan to use DNA to convict Heuermann. The last time anyone spoke to LaTonya Roberts was the last night she was ever seen alive. Around 11 PM on Friday, December 16th, 1994, she called her sister and asked if she wanted to go to the club. In the end, LaTonya seemed set to head off on her own but when she didn't come home, everyone knew something was terribly wrong. Her father found her abandoned car two days later, on Sunday. It was parked half a mile from the club she was supposed to attend. The doors were locked and there was no sign of forced entry, although one tire was flat. Whether this was accidental or sabotage has never been determined. Police found themselves with an utter lack of evidence and few investigative avenues to explore. Then they learned the grim truth; that LaTonya had been a victim of domestic violence at the hands of her boyfriend, a man who just one month earlier, had threatened to kill her and bury her in a citrus grove. Did LaTonya's boyfriend make good on his threat or is someone else responsible for her mysterious disappearance?Social Media and Subscription Link TreeMusic Courtesy of: "Lost Time" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/#truecrime #truecrimepodcast #realcrimes #disappearance #disappeared #missing #unsolved #unsolvedmysteries #evidence #investigation #missingperson #traceevidence #LaTonyaRoberts #orlando #orlandounsolved #floridacrime #floridaunsolved #abudction

In what may be the podcast's shortest episode yet outside of those weird early installments, this one takes on "The Instincts", part one of a boring two parter that's mainly about Reid's dreams. Child abduction too but mostly Reid's dreams. Speaking of, REED Diamond is in "The Instincts" playing a concerned father. Remember The Shield? Hell, remember Homicide? There really is not a lot to talk about with this episode.

This week, in Lyons, Nebraska, the new woman in town seems to be a non drinking, moralistic church person, until it's revealed that there's also an affair with her neighbor, the Chief of the town's police force, ever since they met at a bar. The cityscape is marked by extensive farmlands, orchards, and rolling hills that lend to its quaint rural allure. However, in 1995, Abbotsford was shaken by a brutal assault on two teenage girls who were making their way home from a party. Following the grim incident, the assailant initiated a series of unsettling phone calls to the police, forewarning of impending acts of violence. Detectives raced against the clock to identify the individual before he could make good on his threats.SHOW NOTES - https://morbidology.com/morbidology-the-podcast-223-tanya-smith-misty-cockerillPATREON - https://www.patreon.com/morbidologyAudio Credit:Epidemic SoundEvening of Chaos - Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Empty Reflections - ErikMMusic - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgq4SPKHlyIA Mothers Sacrifice - OurMusicBox - https://ourmusicbox.com/Dark Tranquility - Anno Domini Beats - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6mBav72AkThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3527306/advertisement
Episode 286: On July 9, 1928, the Alberta Provincial Police were alerted to a mass murder at the Booher farm in Mannville, Alberta. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of Rose Booher, her oldest son Fred, and two hired hands, Gabriel Grombey and Bill Rozak, all shot dead. The younger son, Vernon Booher, was unharmed. He'd been out in the fields working that evening and, after hearing shots, ran back to the house to his mother and brother dead. It was he who'd sounded the alarm. Two Booher daughters were in town during the incident. The father of the family, Henry, also away during the killings, was devastated. Vernon displayed little emotion and soon became the number one suspect in the slayings. He denied involvement, and the murder weapon, a rifle, was missing. Dr. Adolph Maximilian Langsner, an Austrian criminologist and psychiatrist who claimed he could read brainwaves, was brought in to assist. He claimed he read Vernon's mind, and confirmed he was the killer. Langsner also directed police to the missing firearm, claiming he'd drawn a map taken from Vernon's thoughts. Presented with the formerly missing rifle, Vernon confessed, stating he killed his mother over her disapproval of his girlfriend and then eliminated witnesses. But his confession was disallowed. Why? His defence attorneys claimed Dr. Langsner had coerced him into it through hypnotism. Sources: 1928 CanLII 342 (AB KB) | Rex v. Booher | CanLII 2007 SCC 6 (CanLII) | R. v. Three of the five members of the Sims family, however, had stayed at home: dad Robert (42), mom Helen (34), and daughter Joy (12). When oldest daughter Norma (17) came home at 11pm, she found the television on but none of her family was crowded around it as she would normally find them. Going next to her parents' bedroom, it was there that she saw a horrifying scene. She found her parents and her baby sister had been bound, gagged, and left for dead. In a quiet Oklahoma town, A.J. Cantrell and his wife Patsy lived lives built on community and kindness, never expecting their paths to intersect with a dangerous man whose actions will disrupt their sense of peace forever. The Cantrells, beloved by their community, meet a violent end, leaving a hole in the heart of their close-knit town. Joseph Scott Morgan and Dave Mack delve deep into the tragedy, examining the chilling forensic details, the devastating impact on the community, and the 37-day manhunt that gripped the nation. Morgan leverages his expertise to discuss the mechanics of the lethal 410 shotgun used in the crime, while Mack provides harrowing firsthand accounts that highlight the complexities of the case. They also explore the psychology of violence, diving into the backstory and subsequent actions of the perpetrator, Scott Eizember. Dr. Philip Vinson, an economist at Georgia Gwinnett College, believes that raising interest rates is effective in addressing inflation, even if it doesn't immediately lower prices. Instead, it aims to reduce the rate of price increases. While inflation has dropped from its peak of 9% to around 3.2%, it remains above the Fed's 2% target. Further rate hikes could risk pushing the economy into a recession, impacting business growth, employment, housing, and the stock market.
