POPULARITY
Natalie and Carrie discuss pickles, polio, propriety, and the parks. Plus, Palamides probes the Pinocchio pundit.
Today, Talko Bell wants to promote Natalie's live show NATE which on August 9th 2019 has a live taping in Los Angeles and the show is presented by Amy Poehler! Everyone go to www.theblacklistnyc.com/nateshow and see this amazing comedic adventure! In this episode, which was recorded prior to our main interview, we discuss Coke vs. Pepsi, the fact that Natalie pulled Chad onstage to do improv and ended up whipping him with a bullwhip while he was on all fours, and how a partially scripted/partially improvised show evolves creatively. It was amazing to hear her open up about the creative process!
Wow. The timeline of Talko Bell will be divided into "pre-Natalie interview" and "post-Natalie interview!" Not only is she one of the funniest performers working today, she loved talking with us about food! We discuss everything from friendship to ethnicity and regional food favorites. One of our funniest episodes to date, but how could it not be? Natalie is touring with her shows NATE and LAID overseas and in the US and can be heard on about 300,000 animated shows approximately including Bob's Burgers! Listen to her podcast Hidden Mickeys with Carrie Poppy. Our music is "Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell" by Das Racist.
On today's episode I talk to comedian Natalie Palamides. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Natalie's path to comedy started with clowning and devised theater with the Obie-Award-Winning Pig Iron Theatre Company. After moving to Los Angeles, she became an official performer at UCB, and since then, has garnered a number of accolades including being named a Just for Laughs New Face in 2016 and Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2017. Natalie is also a voice actor working on a number of cartoons like Bob's Burgers, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, and most notably voices Buttercup on the reboot of The Powerpuff Girls. When Natalie Palamides creates a one-woman show, she doesn't write a script and instead fearlessly performs material in front of an audience as a "workshop" until it transforms into a completed piece. Natalie's one-woman shows have been performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles and internationally at the Soho theatre in London, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in Australia, the Edinburgh Fringe, where she won the award for best comedy Newcomer. In our conversation we talk about her latest one-woman show "Nate", which you can currently see performed at the Lyric Hyperion and UCB theatre in Los Angeles, and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August.
