The Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror, and Pirates of the Caribbean make for a perfectly chilling Halloween trio. But what if these attractions followed a different development path? PARTY PLEASER:Shirleon, Kathryn, and Melvin dive into that long-forgotten non-DCOM, Tower of Terror! If you remember programming on ABC called "The Wonderful World of Disney", then you'll remember this early Disney Parks ride-adaption! Ready to relive some memories? Topics: (PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 30-minutes playing a horror-themed trivia wherein Melvin & Kathryn duke it out over who knows more horror trivia! Who knows, maybe you'll score more points than they do while listening? (PATREON EXCLUSIVE) Parts of the film are shot on the real Florida Tower of Terror location.Tower of Terror is part of the canon 80s & 90s films wherein strange men hang out with younger counterparts, specifically teen girls… which surely makes you think…For a film based on the The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride, the few special effects leave a bit to be desired. The very minor romance subplot (if you can call it that) is not only cheesy, it's also lame.So... if the ghosts are chill, why are they trying to scare everyone away? The drama during the climax is effective, and Shirleon & Melvin stepped away enjoying it.Recommendations:Maid (2021) (Series)Oddity (2024) (Movie)The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022 - X ) (Series)MAILBAG: Send questions with your first name and we'll answer them in future episodes! Your Stupid Minds brings you Disney's first foray into films based on their amusement park rides. It's 1997's made-for-TV movie Tower of Terror, starring Steve Guttenberg, Nia Peeples, and Kirsten Dunst. Buzzy Crocker (Guttenberg) is a former journalist drummed out of the journalism game for being a bad journalist. Now he's fabricating photos for his supernatural tabloid stories with his teenage niece Anna (Dunst). When an old woman (Amzie Strickland) comes to him with the real story of the Hollywood Hotel elevator disappearance in 1939, he goes to the abandoned hotel to investigate. He eventually finds that everyone in the elevator is still around, in spook form, and can't cross over to the other plane. With the help of Anna he works to try to free them.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is a Disney ride in which you get in an elevator that flings you up and down for about a minute. As you can probably tell from that description, it's rich with narrative potential, which is why we have 1997's Tower of Terror movie starring Steve Guttenberg and Kirsten Dunst, the movie we're talking about today. Guttenberg plays the improbably named Buzzy Crocker, a fraudulent journalist who is presented with the opportunity of a lifetime: head to the derelict Hollywood Tower Hotel to solve the mysterious disappearance of five people from the elevator on Halloween night, 1939. Will Buzzy be able to get to the bottom of what happened? Is the hotel haunted? And will his sister finally relent and let him take photos of his niece in an abandoned building? Listen and find out! This episode was recorded live at the Prince Charles Cinema, London on October 29th, 2023. In this captivating episode, law enforcement veteran Waymon Lewis shares his life journey with us, starting from his upbringing in Lampasses, Texas, to his time in the Police Academy during the 1960s, and his experiences on patrol. Waymon's account of the UT Tower shooting in Austin is particularly gripping, as he narrates the terrifying sequence of events that transpired that day with vivid detail. We also get a glimpse into the often-overlooked challenges of shift work in law enforcement and the need for supportive partners to navigate through the stress. The conversation also touches upon the vital role of community policing, relationships, and communication within the community. Waymon's story is a reminder of the best and worst of humanity and the importance of gratitude for the support of loved ones. Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, where we discuss anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, Shanghai announced the date they'll be opening Zootopia land. Sticking with international parks, over in Tokyo Disneyland, Fantasy Springs will be opening on June 6, 2024. On the high seas, we got some of our first looks at the artwork for the Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Treasure cruise ship, and it looks incredible. And some people got a scare with the announcement of the return of the Disney Enchantment fireworks show at after hours events next year. Tomorrow is Halloween, so today we wanted to discuss our favorite ride in Disney World that takes place on Halloween Day, 1939. If you didn't guess it, we're talking about the Hollywood Studios icon: Tower of Terror. This seemingly immortal ride hasn't always been there, so we explain the history, fun facts, and nods to the Twilight Zone throughout the queue. Plus, there were several iterations before the original was built including a murder mystery, which Angela thinks would be fun, but the night-vision goggles might become hazardous during the drops. Check out the book A Magical Half-Century for even more on the Tower of Terror. Submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode. We're going to take a slight detour from our 100 Year Celebration series for a Very Special (and Spooky!) Halloween episode. When you think of Halloween and Disney, naturally your thoughts go to two legendary and scary attractions. They are both frighteningly fantastic of course, but which is the true Halloween champ? Tonight we're going to try and find out… So sit back, relax (as best you can) and join us as we try to settle the score, the Haunted Mansion or the Tower of Terror!
In honor of Halloween, Rick and Sarah Says will take a deep dive into the Twilight Zone: Tower of Terror for the next two episodes. They will talk about four similar attractions throughout the world at Disney parks.
This week we welcome Skelehost to the Landspeeder as we #Starwarsify the Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World! This iconic ride is pretty flawless as it is, but what if it was Star Wars themed? it's not just a trip to the Twilight Zone -- it's a journey into the Dark Side! Thanks for listening! Please give us a review wherever you listen as it will help us grow! This and all of our episodes can also be found on YouTube--just look for Living with the Landspeeder.
Steph is still away *frowny face* but this week, Lex is joined by Shaleena from Everything 90s Podcast and former host of Role Call Podcast (and pod-friend), Simone. We're in the "Girl's Room" and we're ready to chat about the forgotten 1997 movie, "Tower of Terror." In this film, a journalist investigates an old mystery dating back to 1939, when 5 people vanished from the Hollywood Tower Hotel elevator on Halloween night. Does this film still hold up today, or do we wish it would vanish from our memories? Let's find out together!
In this episode, the Podmothers share fun tidbits and information about the different versions of the Tower of Terror found in the Disney Parks.
